Anyone figure this out yet? My one main annoyance with the phone is this....
In CM10 there is an option for silent when connected to a2dp and headphones. guessing aokp is the same.

Was hoping for more of something along the lines of still hearing notifications in headphones but not on speaker

That's what it does. It silences the handset speaker (if chosen) while connected to headset or a2dp. It just gives you the choice to silence the handset or choose vibrate.

I am also plagued by this problem but I cannot find any such option. Using CM10 A7.
Also if anybody knows a way to make the lowest volume quieter, everybody can hear my calls even on the lowest volume!
:bump:
sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I'm running CM10 stable on a Verizon GSIII, and cannot for the life of me find the option to stop speaker notifications when headset is plugged in. Is it not available on the Verizon version?

The exact search term is " Volume+ (Sound Boost) " in the android market . You can copy & paste that into the android market search field minus the quotation marks. The free version doesn't have sound boost in it's title and the volume level won't go up high enough. In preferences in the app, you need to be able to select somewhere between 8-10. Too low, nothing and too high doesn't work either.
Very important, when you download the app for the first time, there is quick one time visual tutorial. Do everything exactly what it says to do, if not, won't work. If you can take screen shots of the directions, your better off. After that one time, you would have to un—install and than re—install to see it again. It only comes up right after the initial install.
The only variance is your volume number in the preferences . Test, if it's working, by listening to the preset ring tones in the system settings of the phone.
I was afraid, that I might of had to exchange the phone because the speaker volume was so bad. This app makes a significant difference.

You can get the full version for free from the developers site which has a link in the Market page of the lite version.
I keep mine set on 10 and it gives me the perfect volume.
It's the way the phone should have come.....
I am surprised samsung or google have not rectified this with the last 2 ota updates.

Help!
By any chance do you remember the steps? I just bought the app but accidently pressed the back button on the tutorial part. Is there anyway to go back to it?

yeah the voice is still like that in 4.0.2 (usa/lte); almost feel guilty about using navigation, sounds like the poor woman is getting tortured; I run it through my car speakers so it's loud of enough
thanks guys it helps alot

FYI there is an updated version at developers site 1.8.0.6 that adds ability to view the tutorial on demand.
I bought V+ and it helped with some of the settings, but not all. I rooted the phone as well. I might be returning it. It is a big disappointment.
Has anyone tried this with a bluetooth headset? I tried and am not getting any results. Tried "Headset" and tried "Bluetooth" settings, separately and together.

Do you do that natively with a bluetooth head unit. I have a car with bluetooth head unit and when I make a call and I'm using Nav at the same time it plays the Nav through the speakers....otherwise it doesn't.
Wondering if I can do likewise so any information would be greatly received.
Thanks
I am not 100% sure if this is specific to the rom I am running or not. But I am trying to disable all notification sounds from being played through my bluetooth headset, all I want to hear is call audio.
I am running Juggarnaut 5.0 and I have not tested this on the stock rom. If anyone has any suggests... thanks.

The only thing you can do is lower your notification volume in settings.

Hi everyone,
I'm getting a nexus soon but while I was looking around in the forum,it seems that the gnex's speaker volume output is low.I know that volume+ can raise the volume but it's currently not supported in JB.I read that some kernels/ROMs do boost the volume but not as good as volume+,not to mention that I would hate restricting myself to specific ROMs/kernels just to have good volume on the speaker. The nexus is amazing phone due to the updates and developer support but low speaker volume is kinda like a deal breaker for me since I can miss a lot of notifications this way then I might just force myself to get the S3 I had an I9100G and volume was pretty nice on it.
PS:I hope my thread is not a spam/trouble/annoying thread but I had to post it because this determines which phone I'm getting so..yea

I didn't tried this phone on ICS so don't know if this is JB issue, but yes volume of external speaker is low compared to i9100 I had.
ROM I'm using now is androidme and I think he raised a little volume by default plus he have 2 mods to go when further, though I found the highest one distorted my music a little.
Right now I'm not using a mod on his newest And its fine. Okys this phone has a led notification that S2 didn't had so that helps too

Hi Mate,
New version of Volume+ works fine on Gnex Maguro with Jelly Bean. Volume+ works best with Bugless Beast JB ROM. As most other JB roms are based on CM, the sound starts crackling once you pump the volume to 10. I think any stock like AOSP rom is best paired with volume+.
Hope that helps you.
Cheers, Sumit

How did you get Volume+ to work with JB...On the devs website, this is what he says:
"It seems Google have completely removed the ability to attach the Audio Effects to the system output. I knew they were removing it but I assumed they would replace it with something better but it seems they removed it without offering an alternative. This means Volume+ no longer works for boosting Ringtones/Messages/E-mails, etc.
Will it ever work? No idea. Depends if there's any way around it." I guess it does work for music and such, just not system stuff...

I love my gnex with jellybean, but the low volume is a really a killer Ive missed a few calls because it and you can't listen to videos in a noisy environment at all, guess well have to hope that a Google update addresses it.
There are only two things I don't like about this phone...the speaker and the vibrate...they are both much lower than my RAZR was, but the rest of the phone more than makes up for it...
Maybe use a pair of headphone but it gets kinda annoying at long term...
However your sure not to miss a single notification

My Gnex has completely gone mute
Bought my GNex from Play Store in US and got it shipped to india.
Have been encountering problem with loudspeaker from Day 1.
My phone's rear speaker stops working when:
1. Headphone is plugged in and then taken out.
2. Data cable is plugged in
3. Data cable is plugged out
4. Sometimes just like that... (no reason)
How i made it work again:
1. Plug in the headphone into the jack.. pull out a couple of times
2. Plug in the data cable move it up-down n left-right... it works
3. Just tap near the back of the phone with ur finger (near the speaker)
Also the volume levels keep changing as u move the jack or the data cable inside the socket.
Read somewhere like the OS is assuming that the headphone is connected n all... not sure if that is true...
Tried Wired Head Phone routing apps. the speaker worked for a few minutes, that's all.
Now... the phone's loud speaker has gone totally mute. It just refuses to speak... wat ever i do.
yup my dad realize too..very low speaker volume
is it can solve without root?
or will be solve on android 4.2?
anyone knows
I hear the faint noise / buzz / snap the speaker even when I have silent mode enabled, anyone else who has or had?
Solution? Hardware or Software?
Please post questions in the Q&A sections.

When I press the screen to launch an app or make a selection from some menu.
And I can have the phone vibrate or silent, is the same in both cases.
I have 2 Gnex (Maguro), my oldest I have to put your ear against the speaker to hear this, but on my brand new sound is very clear.
Exact like this-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfeyLN7pWRA&list=PLB9F7946C16BE343B&index=19&feature=plpp_video
I see. Odd thing. Cannot reproduce it with my gnex. I don't have any advice on this one, sorry.

Same sort of thing happens when you lock your lockscreen.
There's about ~1 second of static after the actual lock sound (or alone if you have the phone on silent).
It's been around since the GNex came out. Nothing bothersome to me at all, really.
I can see how this could annoy someone, however.

On my new GN (bought 8/8-2012) is quite high sound coming in silent mode.
On my old GN heard only very weakly.
Should be a software problem.
curious to see if anyone has heard any sound coming from their Moto 360? I ask b/c I have not heard anything aside from the vibration when receiving a text/e-mail, and I see a "mute" option when pulling down.
thanks!

Good question, maybe the mute is for when you have bluetooth headset or to mute notifications?

It has no speaker, so it makes no sound. The mute option keeps notifications from showing on your watch screen.

As above. It has no speaker. Muting hides the cards you see on your watch so you always see the clock face unless you tap or swipe up.
thanks for the responses all - I guess if I wanted to mute the cards, then I can do so via the app on my phone. just thought that if you show a picture of a bell, that usually means a sound of some sort.
i guess it's interesting that the watch has a mic, but no speaker.

Well it vibrates, so you dont need a speaker, and since it's tied to your phone your phone could always make the sound. You wouldnt want them both beeping would you?
Well, I don't keep my phone on me at all times. I often times leave outside my bedroom.

right - plus it's not unprecedented to have watches emit sound.
