Hi everyone,
So, I've got an interesting issue, and I realize that it is likely my fault. I was flashing various ROM's (CM10, CM9 etc) on the phone, and eventually when I put the stock ROM back on, I was only able to connect on "EDGE". I called Rogers and they said my account checked out. So, I did more ttroubleshooting, and in that I noticed that my IMEI was set to "0". So, I found a guide on here to re-add the IMEI using QPST and I was able to get back on 3G, but no 4G/LTE. After rebooting and some time passed, I am now on 4G, but no LTE and this is my issue. Before you say 4G is LTE, I tend to want to disagree. I used to get LTE, and I did see it pop up once since I fixed the phone, but the phone crashed and i wasn't able to test it with LTE running. Since then, I haven't seen it again. I also ran the "Phone Info" app, and if I set it to LTE only, I never get a data connection, even after rebooting, pulling battery etc.
Why I think 4G is not LTE is because when I ran speedtests before I broke my phone, I was getting 28MB down, and 8-10MB up. now, I'm lucky if I'm getting 1MB down and .2MB up. I have once gotten 4MB down, and .8MB up, but this is WELL below LTE speeds that I've had in the past.
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me get back to a 100% clean, stock ROM, modem, firmware etc. I have installed 2 different stock ROM's that I found for the Rogers i747m; one is ~700MB, the other is 1.2GB. Both have the same issue with 4G only. I've also flashed the stock Rogers modem, and still no luck.
Any help would be appreciated, but here are some specific questions if you can help.
Does anyone have screenshots of their stock "about" page, and the "status" page in the phone menu?
Does anyone have a bone stock "complete" firmware/ROM for the Rogers i747?
Is there anything I can do to fix this on my current ROM (stock)?
Thank you!
Here are the threads I've reviewed and followed to try and resolve the issue.

Well I know you are right about one thing when it says 4g it's not the same as LTE mine says LTE when it's on LTE. I'm on Telus though. I have seen others in Canada with this issue after restoring the IMEI, maybe you should check that thread to see if there are any solutions.

Thanks for replying. The apn settings are correct, ltemobile.son and the tethering one. This was one of the first things I checked. I'll add screenshots tomorrow if it's helpful
Thanks!
Interesting...got on LTE randomly...well sort-of

So, here's something a bit more interesting. Just before bed last night, I caught my phone on the LTE network. I tried loading a few pages/apps, but nothing was working. AFter about a minute, I lost all data connection and it popped back up about 10 seconds later back on 4G and was working again. Not sure if this helps anything, but I did grab a screenshot when it was on LTE.
Anyone?

Thanks for that thread, but does anyone know why the person is removing the SIM and going through all that trouble when rebooting does the exact same thing?
I have used the #2263 menu to set my phone into LTE only mode, and I get no data connection, nor any cell connection either. Switch it back to Automatic and it jumps right back on 4G.
It is faster to remove the sim and enter *#2263# code lol. Once the sim is removed, a no sim notification should appear. Better than waiting for you phone to reboot.
I will post my lte apn setting for you. Hopefully that will help.

It could also be the modem... I have a link to a stock rogers modem. Just flash in recovery and you may have LTE again. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29517422&highlight=rogers#post29517422
Just fyi...
I also have a Rogers S3 and noticed that I am not getting the LTE icon on the notification bar after the first week. Now, I only get a 4G icon in GSM, HSDPA, LTE mode, and 3G/H+ in GSM, HSDPA mode.
However, with the 4G icon, I can still get speeds of 30Mbps down, 13 Mbps up, and under System Information, it shows LTE in Network Type.
My conclusion was that dont rely on the icon in the notification bar. Check the system information page to see the actual network type.
The only time I can get the LTE icon to actually show when I am connected to the LTE network instead of the 4G icon is through re-flashing the ROM. I have tried clearing the cache through recovery menu and it still wont work.
I know this doesnt solve your issue, but I hope this will help anyone that stumble across this problem.
Cheers
Thanks for posting all of that. My APN settings are the same, except the APN type. Mine is set to "Internet + MMS". If I change it, I am prompted with a menu to choose from and the settigns on yours are not in the list. Basically it has the folllwing list:
Internet + MMS + DUN
Internet + MMS
Internet + DUN
INternet
MMS
DUN
Also, flashing the Rogers Modem was probably one of the first things I did. I thought that would have been most likely.
My mobile Network type is UMTS:3 and I am definately not getting LTE speeds. I've heard people say that they only see the 4G icon, but get LTE speeds, but I'm only getting about 5down, and less than 1 up. I say that when I was on another ROM, it showed 4G, but seemed much quicker. Now I'm just hosed.
Out of curiosity, under the system settings, what do you have listed for ERI Version and IMEI SV?
Thanks!
Any other ideas?
Mine show ERI Version: Not Available
IMEI SV:01
Hope that help you.
Side note: I also note that for reasons of economy of battery when I switch to GSM network and I want to return to the lte network, it takes a long time to show me the lte icon....it's seem to stuck a few minutes on the edge even if gsm/hspa/lte(auto mode) is selected.

I'm pretty sure I did that...but you have to use your own QCN to generate the new "injected" QCN. As far as I know, it doesn't generate one out of nothing. Unfortunately, I didn't have a QCN generated prior to breaking it. Now the "original" QCN I have is "broken" so when I inject it, it's injecting into a broken QCN.
Something I was curious about doing was getting another Rogers S3 QCN (from a willing XDA member), modifying the IMEI and injecting that back into my phone. Not sure if that would break things, but it might be worth a shot. I'm pretty desperate at this point.
Anyone willing to send me their Rogers QCN, so I can replace the IMEI, and inject it into my phone? Worst case the phone blows up, best case I get LTE back, or just restore my current "broken" QCN.
Thanks!
So...I am now fairly convinced that it actually is a hardware issue and not a software issue. I noticed that it was on LTE again (4th time in a week). I was outside walking my dog. I checked tosee if it was working, and out of shock it was! I then downloaded and ran speedtest...got 28down, 9.5 up. BAM!
Now, here's the kicker. I am in a zone where I've always had 4 bars of LTE, except now I can only get it outside. I checked the signal and it was at 62dbm. Walk inside my house, and it jumps to 87+ dbm and drops LTE. I've always had full LTE signal in my house, work, everywhere, now nothing. Based on this, I am certain that the antenna/radio is pooched. Now I have to either get it repaired or get a refurb...ugh. Giving up my month and a half old phone for a refurb really blows...
I am with Telus, and having the exact same problem (minus the IMEI thing).
I flashed to CM10, and my LTE stopped working. Went back to stock, and it's still not working.
Setting phone to LTE only gets me no signal.
I've tested it in Toronto, Mississauga, Barrie (all LTE capable) and nothing is working.
Apparently, it's an issue with the phone. Search Google for Galaxy S3 radio issues (or swap radio for signal) and there is tones of threads. I have a refurb phone coming from Rogers this week, and I'm gonna leave it at stock. Really sucks...but LTE is the bomb.
I read on one thread that Samsung is supposed to push a code fix for the modem, but that's from a bunch of people speculating on the issue. How true it is...time will tell. I'll post back if/when I get LTE back on the new phone.
So, I just got the new phone and LTE is back working everywhere it used to with full signal and full speed.
I hAve this now too...but it's just the icon as I am getting LTE speeds.
Might call Rogers too...

Hi everyone,
I'm reasonably certain that this isn't a redundant thread -- at least, none of the discussions I've read have helped me fix my problem. Anyway, here goes:
I have a new i9250T that I purchased through Amazon. When I got it, I popped in the SIM card from my Nexus One (both SIM and phone acquired in January 2010). Everything worked fine, EXCEPT that I could only connect to T-Mobile's 2G network (Network Type = Edge:2). After trying everything I could think of, I called T-Mobile, and the tech told me that my 2-year-old SIM card was 2G only and that I should update it. So I went to a T-Mobile store and got a new SIM. Alas, it doesn't seem to have worked.
I would REALLY appreciate any suggestions. Some additional info:
-- I'm in Philadelphia, in a very good coverage area.
-- I flashed yakju, 4.0.2, and UGLC1 radio before getting the new SIM.
Again, any thoughts will be appreciated. I've seen enough posts on various boards from people successfully using this phone on T-Mobile to not give up, but I'm out of ideas.
check what your APN settings are on your N1 and make sure that they ate the same on your GN.

Weirdest crap... aren't the GNEX suppose to work with either GSM Carriers 3G? From what I read lol ...
- Google Galaxy Nexus
I get 3G/H with my Nexus. Running Android Revolution HD 3.0 w/ franco's kernel. Not sure if I got it before then running stock, though.
It should definitely work no question with little issue. Just pop in your sim and good to go. Maybe its some random network issue in your area that coincidentally started?
Same here, got it on Amazon. it's a GT-I9250T which means it's for the Australian market (I9250 International, I9250M Canada, I9250T Australia). I'm just stuck on EDGE, but works fine on AT&T - I tried it with my gf's sim card.
The problem is with the frequencies. T-mobile uses 1700 and 2100 (both! for upload and download), AT&T uses 1900Hz. The phone is supposed to be a pentaband phone that's able to work on all on the freqs besides others (850, 900). So my guess after a few days research is that it's limited in the software. Still researching the solution...
Let's keep each other posted on this, i'm eager to get my 4G back !!!
NEW DEVELOPMENT!!!
Information from another post: flashing UGLC1 radio helps. Good luck all
I had the same issues with no 3g speeds on any radios except a random docomo radio until today.
Based on a few posts in the baseband thread i tried the settings in the hidden menu
Go into the phone dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#* -This should bring up a testing menu
Go into phone info, then pull up the settings menu
There should be a select radio band button
Try the USA band, if that doesn't work, try automatic.
This worked for me, I've since flashed 4 different radios that hadn't worked previously and now do at standard speeds vs edge only.
Well my buddy bought his also from amazon and had the same issue as the OP. But luckily we got it fixed. I believe what he did was only tinker with the APN settings. Under APN Type in your T Mobile apn make sure the correct profiles are there. One of them could be data but I'm not sure as I'm on SIMPLE Mobile and my buddy is on T Mobile, sorry. If you get it working and your MMS isn't working, then add mms to the profile as well. That should do it. He did get his phone with 4.0.1 and I updated it to 4.0.4 Android Revolution 3.0 just like me as well but it wasn't until we tinkered with his settings did it work. Oh and we also swapped for a new SIM. Let me know if this helped guys. I'll try getting his settings if I see him tomorrow.
Edit: his was also an Australian galaxy nexus. But he seems be having everything working now

So ait this is the Australian version? They use 850 and 2100 bands so is it possible the other bands are disabled on that version?
Problem solved!
I took chimaki1's advice and fiddled with the radio band setting. I had done this previously, but I had always selected "USA Band." This time, I selected "Automatic." Closed out of the Testing menu, and -- bingo! The wonderful 'H' appeared and I was now getting real speed -- 7.9mbps down, 2.8 up. Not as good as some of the insane speeds I've seen posted by GN owners on T-Mobile, but a lot better than 100kbps down I had been getting. Also, I didn't mess with the APN settings at all.
To recap the solution for others having the same issue:
From the phone dialer, enter *#*#4636#*#*
Tap "Phone information"
Tap the Settings icon at the bottom right
Tap "Select radio band"
Select "Automatic"
Close out of the Testing menu (you can just hit the Home key)
I can't remember whether I had to soft reset or not; I don't think I did.
I hope this works for others. Thanks very much to everyone who posted.

Is your galaxy running the stock software, or are you running something different. if so, what rom are you running
It's running the yakju image and OS version 4.0.2. I flashed both using the WugFresh tool. The phone came with yakjuxw (I think) and 4.0.1.

I'm having the same issue on the I9250T I just got. Stuck on edge. I played around with the hidden menu settings, still no luck. I'm using a TMo SIM card from my previous phone which had 4G so I doubt that its a time/patience issue. Any help will be appreciated.

Today I tried a friend's ATT SIM and it worked fine with H/3G speeds. popped the TMo SIM back in and I'm back to EDGE. Wondering if there is something that needs to be done to the phone settings or, or I was hopping some one could tell me what needs to be done.. thanks
Guys,
Unlocked and rooted One X on AT&T and my pegged out signal keeps changing from H to 3G over and over and over.... you get the picture. Never stays on one very long before changing and will disrupt data services for a brief moment while it does.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior and if so, any fix to resolve?

Yea I notice it. I believe it's part of the way it saves power but idk if thats true because on my Galaxy Nexus, it would almost always stay on "H".
Mine doesn't really switch out of "H" though when actually loading something, just takes a bit to go from "3G" to "H". I've maybe experienced it once or twice when actually loading something where it would switch out of "H" to "3G" while loading something on XDA or a website. But it's usually when connection is weak.
I'm having the same issue.
if it keeps happening, then complain to ATT and ask for credit on your data plan because it doesn't work the way it should.
From what I read, AT&T phones show only h, even though in the background they switch back and forth.
But when you use international phones on the network, it will show the switching around. I'm not sure if that's related to your issue, but over here on rogers, my phone switches between 3g and h constantly, even when I'm at one location.. The thing is that I don't get long disruptions though, if any at all.
I'm on att and don't experience this. My icon switches frequently but I don't see any interruption in service.

Thanks all, just wanted to make sure that I was the only one experiencing. I will probably go into the AT&T store and see if their One XL display units is doing the same thing while I have mine with me.
Could be that "international" issue type of thing... who knows.
Yes, mine does this too. Im on straight talk which uses at&t and it frequently keeps switching back and forth.

Have you checked the APN settings?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983
Moving from 2/3G to HSPA+ is by design and called fast dormancy. Here's more than you could ever possibly want to know about it.
http://www.slideshare.net/zahidtg/gsma-fast-dormancy-best-practices
It saves battery life and when working properly it's undetectable. That is when FD is active on a device and the network it's using supports it. (AT&T does). If OP's dropping signal something's wrong. I'd check...
- The APN's you use on AT&T must match the plan that's provisioned in your account settings. If you're on a 3G plan (grandfathered unlimited, MediaNet, data for non-Smartphones) use the 3G (Cingular) settings. If you're on a 4G (non-LTE) plan use the 4G (HSPA+) APN. Wrong APN means funky data even if it seems fine sometimes.
- Older SIMs or SIMs from iPhone's in non-Apple devices have caused problems. As has bad surgery in the move to micro. Pop in to an AT&T store and get a new micro SIM matched to the provisioning of your account.
- Bad phone h/w. In not the above it could be the device.
I've just been across the country on the AT&T network and my phone has performed better than my i9100 in picking up and maintaining a signal (I'm on a 3G plan). It's been impressive actually especially in moving from HSPA to Wi-Fi and back. So with the right settings the phone itself should be fine.

Just tried that and it's not working for me. Doubled checked, everything is exactly as he said. I just don't have the option to switch from what it currently is (MediaNet). There's no radio button for the other two. Even after deleting the original (only leaving the two I just made) and restarting, I have no connection to the network.

I had an unactivated micro SIM that I had my corporate account rep activate so my situation's different than yours; the SIM is tied exactly to the settings in my account. I popped it in, it picked up the MediaNet settings, and all was good.
My phone has a single APN so I can't see the way the settings look when there are multiples. The last setting in the active APN is "APN enable/disable" which is greyed out on my because there's no other choice. Did you try disabling it after you got the new APN's entered? Maybe if you do it'll allow you to select the new APN's you created.

My "APN enable/disable" is greyed out as well. I tried the new APNs in the other thread and couldn't get a internet connection. The only successful APN with the One X was the medianet. Other than that, I'll settle for the medianet but only wanted to change it to get better speeds in my area since this phone is capable of receiving up to 21mbps.

The highest I've seen on either an international phone or an AT&T 21MB-capable phone is 8MBish down. That's in TX where there's lots of bandwidth shared by not a lot of people. In markets like LAX, NYC, and SFO you're lucky to break 5MB because of the congestion. I've seen 2MB and under in Manhatten. HSPA+ speeds on AT&T are very much YMMV.

I have read that you can change your APN settings to turn off LTE. However, I found another way (with the help of carefreelife). Use at your own risk! I am not responsible for any harm you may do though it seems fairly safe to me!:
UPDATE: THERE IS NOW AN EASIER METHOD TO DO THIS WITHOUT PULLING THE SIM AND REBOOTING (check out post #47 below or use this link)

[OLD METHOD]1) With phone on, take off back cover and press your SIM card so it releases from the spring. It won't come all the way out as it's blocked by the battery. This seems fine - I didn't bother trying to force it out as I didn't want to break anything...
2) Once you see the message that the SIM card is removed, go to the dialer and dial *#2263#
3) You should see a menu with band selections. The current setting is "Automatic". If you switch to "GSM All", you will be EDGE (2G). If you switch to "WCDMA All", you will be on HSPA+ (3G, though AT&T and others call it 4G).
4) Press the SIM card back into place until it clicks. For whatever reason the phone will not recognize it until you reboot. Upon reboot you should see your new setting in effect.[/OLD METHOD]
I was attempting to follow this procedure for the S2:
{Trick} Get Around "RAT SELECTION RESTRICTED" on i897 modems! - xda-developers
...but I couldn't get the SIM out easily so I left it in...and followed the steps. It wouldn't recognize that the SIM had been reinserted so I gave up and rebooted...and it worked! No need to mess with airplane mode or anything just follow the steps above.
I was then able to follow the same procedure and turn back on the default setting which was "1) Automatic". After a reboot I am again connected to LTE.
Reason I'm using this: I'm testing a major battery drain issue that might be related to LTE/HSPA+ switching.
Reason you might want this: If you have poor LTE signal or even poor HSPA+ signal and want your phone to stop trying to connect to that network, this will stop it.
UPDATE:
A little bit of bad news here:
I have been on "WCDMA All" (HSPA+ aka 3G4/G, with LTE disabled) for 10 days now with ZERO problems whatsoever.
However, I am pretty sure that whichever you choose, if not "Automatic", you will be locked to ONLY that band:
i.e. if you choose "WCDMA All" you will not only be disabling LTE, but also 2G (EDGE) as well. You may not need it (and if so, it will not effect you) - but if your phone loses the HSPA+ signal, it will not fall back to 2G unless you change the setting.
I tested this theory by setting my phone to "LTE all" and trying to call myself from another phone. The call went straight to my voicemail. LTE is data only (for now) and when you receive a call, it switches to HSPA+. Unfortunately, since I had set my phone to "LTE All", it stayed on LTE and could not receive the call.
This may not be a deal-breaker but it's something to be aware of, for sure. I only tested "LTE All" because it was easy to do so, but I am assuming the same applies for the other settings...only "Automatic" would seem to pick the best available network.

Edited OP and changed thread title. Please help me test this. Thanks!
Just out of my curiosity, can you not do this:
settings > wireless and networks > more settings > mobile networks > network mode > GSM/HSPA
I have the Bell version, which is similar to ATT's, wondering if ATT disabled that option.

Yes, it is disabled on AT&T versions. If you try the method I listed above without removing the SIM card, it will be blocked as well.
AT&T does not want us to have any control over which network we connect to. It's been speculated that they want us forced on to LTE to take strain off the HSPA network. Honestly I think that's fine - though I prefer to have a choice - except that I suspect LTE switching is causing my battery drain issue and I need to turn it off in order to test that theory.

carefreelife at Android Central forums showed me that WCDMA All is the proper setting to disable LTE and stay on HSPA. It's working for me and seems to be perfect!

My battery life is great too - there just seems to be a bug that causes it to suddenly become terrible and drain fast until it's rebooted. This is just a method I'm using to test it.
It's possible that disabling LTE can increase battery life but I'm not sure there's any evidence that LTE uses more battery than HSPA+. On older phones the LTE was not integrated into the SoC and thus was a power hog...but it's integrated on the S3.
For users who are on fringe areas and receive poor LTE or HSPA+ coverage...the phone will use extra battery trying to connect and stay connected to those...even if it's [mostly] unsuccessful. Using this method would be a good idea for people who would rather just stay on the bands with strong signal and stop wasting battery trying to get on LTE or HSPA+ fruitlessly.
Thanks a lot for this I've been wanting to switch to 2g only THANKS
Your the man! I've wanted to do this since I got the phone. Is there anyway to use combination bands like in the Captivate?

Hey what's up. I don't know what combination bands are - haven't ever used the Captivate.
And yes I'm still working on those battery issues...I'm hoping that THIS fixes it...even though it would meaning losing LTE for the time being...at least I'd know what's causing it!

You can mix the different bands between wcdma and gsm and their frequencies, that way you can get the best signal in your area.
How's that LTE test coming?

I can't say anything for sure until I get about 1 week of uptime with no plummet. It's been stable (battery and signal) since I enabled it, though.

I can't guarantee this works with any modifications to stock as I have only done it on my unrooted stock AT&T S3.
CM10. I just learned that you can only use dialer codes on stock roms. AOSP roms don't recognize them. There's a small few that work. obviously this one doesn't. Where can I find the APN info?
Nice find!! Works perfectly with my AT&T Galaxy S3. Going to test it out for a few days. I have 4G LTE where I live but when I go to college in the fall there won't be any LTE. This will come in handy!
However, with the WCDMA option enabled, does this mean you only have access to 3G and not 2G? Sometimes when I am in rural areas there is no 3G so I need to use EDGE or GSM. Hopefully with the WCDMA all enabled 2G is still accessible.

That's a great question. I have looked at it like a hierarchy but there's plenty of reason to believe it could be otherwise. There's not really anywhere in Miami I can go that doesn't have really strong HSPA+ so I don't know how I can test it. If anyone can do this test themselves and see what happens when you leave a 3G area please post results here.
Actually, once I am done testing the battery drain I could switch from Automatic to LTE and find somewhere in Miami where there's only 3G and see if it switches down to 3G or just loses signal entirely. Someone could also switch to LTE mode and try to receive a phone call...if it is truly locked on ONLY LTE then it won't be able to take a call...
The more I think about it the more it seems like this could be a major drawback of this method. I look forward to testing this later and hearing what you guys find as well. Thanks!

I'd also love to know if 2G works, but I can't while in North California. There isn't a single place within a 20 mile radius of where I live that doesn't have full LTE and HSPA+ coverage since so many people live here. I go to college in a fairly rural area in California though so in late September I'll be able to confirm if we can get 2G with the WCDMA method.
Hey All,
So, for some reason, I am unable to get LTE when i am flashed on the AOKP jellybean rom for the SGH-1747M (rogers)
I did everything that was stated in Task's Gerrit (Changed the connection for WCDMA to LTE/GSM auto), all that does is work for a while on H+, then disconnects.
I've changed my apn settings to the Rogers LTE settings, which just cuts off communication all together
Ive flashed Rogers Modems, still to no avail.
The thing that bothers me is that other sgh-1747M users claim to have been getting LTE on the AOKP jellybean rom.
My question is WHY AM I HAVING TROUBLE!!!??? I know the Rom was made for an At&T sgh1747, so people may say thats why its not working, but people with Canadian SG3's have been able to get LTE on the same ROM im having trouble getting it on.
If theres anything at all im missing, can someone please clarify exactly what im missing and what I should do to get it working.
I love the AOKP jellybean ROM, i keep going back to it, but the LTE not working just hurts my feelings (since I am paying for an LTE smartphone plan). PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!
PS: the first time I ever changed from WCDMA to LTE/GSM autom i got a 4G symbol for about 30 secs.....never seen it again! HELP!
i dont have a gerrit. so im unsure what you are talking about.
you need to add a canadian LTE apn and then do this...
Enter *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer
phone information
set preferred network type
change to LTE/GSM auto

I'm not really sure. Being as I don't have a Canadian model its not something I can test. But I'm sure some Canadian users will be posting here to help you out soon.
when i try to change the preferred network it will not let me change it to anything else but to lte/gsm (prl) (i have the AT&T version)

Thats interesting. Maybe its because you are actually using at&t network. It works when I put it on LTE/GSM, but all I get is 3G and H+
Check your IMEI in about phone/status. If its showing 0, there's a thread for that.
If you're getting 4G icon and your mobile network status says LTE and are getting LTE speeds, then its cosmetic issue. I had that problem before.
What I did was I flashed Kyan's ROM 1.3 cause its based off of Rogers firmware. Once I verified I had LTE icon on Kyan ROM, then flashed the stock/rooted ROM after.

Interesting. I will try that method and see what happens. Thanks for the info; will post back with results soon
Ok, so after going through the whole process stated above, i WAS able to get a 4G symbol come every now and then. But before the connection actually finalizes and goes through (before it turns blue on the aokp rom), it disconnects and goes back to WCDMA preferred. I added the rogers LTE apn, and using that apn with the LTE/GSM auto selected allowed the 4G to come, but it keeps disconnecting. It even sometimes changes back to other apns on the list by itself
Anyone know if theres a way to lock the preferred network and apn settings?
enter apn settings, then REBOOT phone. After that, enter *#*#4636#*#* into phone dialer and go change to LTE/CMDA/GSM. that worked for me, I just needed to reboot my phone for the apn settings to work

Mine works until I reboot. Then it changes back to WCDMA. I'm on Telus.
LTE on canadian i747M (Rogers)
I had similar issue with LTE after flashing to AOKP rom. The fix provided by AOKP (after every reboot, type in *#*#4636#*#* and flipping the network type from WCDMA to LTE_only, then flip to LTE/GSM auto(PRL) ) works. LTE will show up as 4G. I have the 2012-09-30 AOKP build installed.
Yesterday all of a sudden I could not get LTE anymore. Not sure what happened as the only thing I did was to activate a new account on Google. Anyway the 4G/ flipping did not work anymore. Reflashed the rom several times, still the same issue, my phone will not get LTE/4G.
This morning tried the following and voila it worked, thought I will share this:
Flip the network type to LTE Only, there is no connection, REBOOT the phone.
1. After reboot, flip the network type to LTE Only again, this time, the connection worked - what a surprise/thrill.
2. Flipped the network type to LTE/GSM auto (PRL), connection was ok and 4G came on and stayed on. Did several reboots and repeated 1 and 2 and LTE/4G was ok.
Hope this helps.
I don't recommend you to use task aokp rom! You won't get LTE real speed and Dev won't help you since you are not an at&t user! He couldn't care less about the rest so try liquid jelly bean which is a lot faster and better or milestone 4 and aristodemo! They have better support although they are tw rom but worthy anyways

Task compiles that ROM based on AOKP source, but AOKP officially doesn't support att. Although I didn't have problems getting lte on his ROM the fact that you have to set it every time you reboot is why I am using cm10 for now otherwise it's a good ROM!
I'm having the same issues on my rogers branded s3. No matter what I do I can get lte to even appear. My apn auto rolls back to the provided apn and if I delete that I have no data at all. Hopefully this does have an answer because the Rom is amazing

Alright I think I have it figured out. I added the rogers APN related all others and the only change I made was I removed the info under APN type where it said internet+MMS and left it blank. Saved the APN rebooted and I have lte now. I even rebooted my phone and each time it boots up its showing 4g without having to play with any settings

Since i changed a new rom(cm11) for my unlocked i747, I could not receive any hspa+ internet(I am using h2o). at the begining, i thought it was because of the lost imei, so i fixed it, but it was not working. then i opened *#*#4636#*#*, and selected wcdma perfered, it changed to h+, but about 1 min later, it turned back to Edge. if i select wcdma only, I can use h+ 1min and then no more signal even edge. also cannot make phone call and texting. i dont know why. the APN setting is right. and anyone tells me what should I do. thanks very much!

These seem like pretty routine questions but have you checked to see if another phone has the same reception problems?
