Please, how to flash SMS modification ODEX file? With Odin or with CWM like flashing ZIP? I heard somewhere that .odex files are not CWM flashable.
Thanks.

Sure they are, they are on the same path as .apk files (/system/app). Only difference is, that the DEODEXED ROM has the .odex included in the .apk, so it's no need to have it separately (that's why DEODEXED ROM's are easier to modify).
Just flash with CWM.*
If you're curious, you can open the .zip with the WinRar and look into META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script. It's a script that tells the CWM what to do, so you can check which files are copied etc. You'll also see if the package is flashable by CWM or Odin (Odin ones are usually .tar though).

[Q] [HELP]Custom Rom Help!!!

I created a Custom rom using dsixda kitchen and all the roms work fine until i deodex them and add su permissions the rom doesnt boot and if use the boot.img file after building the custom rom i get a Status 7 error for the tmp\boot.img file
i reffered some sites it says this is a problem with the updater-script
can someone help me out with this error
yup...the problem comes from the updater script. you need to replace the updater script with the modified one. if you need to install only the rom (without the kernel) you can find one in my post. check my sig about customizing a rom. if you want to install the kernel you need to modify the script used to install the kernel. the other way, you can install the kernel separately with faqbly or mai77's method.

boot.img is for kernel and you can install it after installing ur rom... and yes, wenever u deodex ur rom it will show bootloop so u can manually deodex ur rom, if u add su permissions then nothing would happen.. another solution to make deodexed rom to work could be by replacing the META-INF from another rom. u can make ur kernel work by copying the META-INF from a rom which has custom kernel in it
SOURCE:i hav tried all this
I have installed the roms without the kernel but the problem is i want it to be deodexed and if i build a rom which is deodexed without the boot.img file the phone is stuck at the samsung galaxy y boot screen
can u put up a detailed explanation on how to make custom roms and all plz i really need help
i have reffered a lot of post but the only working method was of dsixda kitchen and
the roms only boot if i just rename it and build it if i add any su or deodex the phone doesnt boot

Thanks for the help i will try it out
and another thing can u insert the uot kitchen theme to the custom rom without acctualy having to flash it again and again from the recovery
don't forget to clean your dalvik-cache after install your rom. in most cases it can causes bootloop if the dex file isn't match with the apk file.

after getting the modded files from UOT kitchen u can directly flash them... no need of reflashing the rom..
I will try that and is the only solution to get rid of the bootloop caysed by deodexing

Open zip folder you got after modding the files after that copy those files and replace the stock files with them for
eg: moded.zip>app>xxx.apk ---copy
customrom.zip>app> ---- paste and replace the old files
tried that already i get stuck at the main flash screen
thanks anyways

Sometime not all application can deodex in my case with ultimate deodex samsung keyboard n email can deodex. But when i try with dsixda kitchen email app can deodex.
Sent from my GT-S5360
^ he is right.. some apps cant be deodexed.. try installing the rom with no special features except su... then keep adding features one by one... dont put the modded files from UOT directly before flashing the custom rom cuz sometimes they can also lead to bootloop... first check whether ur rom is booting or not and then all kind of stuffs
if you replace the theme you 'must' clean your dalvik cache. please make sure that you also have delete systemUI.odex file in /system/app.
Can someone give a real detailed explanation on how to create a fll custom including themes in the rom and how to create kernel for that particular rom
and how to fix the status 7 bug even with other custom rom's lernel i get the same status 7 error some one plz help
and also how do i deodex without getting stuck for a bootloop
check my sig. you can also visit hell_lock's post about make a rom from kitchen. the only one method to solve your error 7 problem is by using meta-inf folder from other custom rom. for deodexing method you can see chamatht's post about how to deodex system app and framework.

thanks for the reply but these are the two posts fom where i actually learned creating rom and hell_lock also had this status 7 problem
so guys using meta inf from other rom should be done after building the whole rom or during the working folder step
you can find a meta-inf folder in my post you can use that instead if you only want to install the rom without the kernel.
Thanks dude but when i add the meta inf folder during zipalign there is a error and guys i got go launcher ex as the launcher but it is not the default one i get an option to choose and i remember that i deleted the launcher.apk file
And the alarm is missing in my phone after installing this rom

you can build it yourself from aosp
The format for each ROM must be one of the following:
- system.img + optional boot.img/lib.img (e.g. stock ROM or Nandroid)
- ZIP file for a custom ROM (e.g. update.zip)
- ZIP file containing *.img (e.g. stock rom.zip)
- ZIP file containing shipped ROM in SYSTEM + BOOT folder format
- Working folder made with this kitchen (e.g. WORKING_old_rom)

you can download the stock roms from here :
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
extract the image and move system.img and boot.img to your working folder.. should work fine just like it did with your S2

[MOD] Enable Spell Checker on Stock ROM XXBLG9

Hi people, this is my very first contribution to this forum. Basically, after switching to CM9 then back to stock, I felt that I was really missing out the ICS spell checking feature (which I don't know why Samsung disabled it).
While searching this forum, I stumbled upon this thread here, which enables the spell checking feature on S2 ICS. The guy posted the changes he made to the files, and I simply applied the same changes to the S3 files (with some improvisation, as they are a bit different).
I tested the mod with a deodexed XXBLG9 ROM here. However, theoretically, it should work on other deodexed stock-based ROMs.
-----------------------
Instruction:
1. Install AOSP Jelly Bean Keyboard from Play Store (link)
2. Reboot to recovery and create NANDroid backup (IMPORTANT!)
3. Use any root explorer to replace \system\app\SecSettings.apk and \system\framework\framework.jar with the files provided below.
4. Make sure that the permission and owner of the files are the same as original (0644)
5. Reboot
Voila!
I was thinking to create a CWM-flashable zip file, but since I am still n00b here, I couldn't. Can somebody teach me how? Better yet, just post a reply here, and I will add it to this post.
EDIT: Taught myself how to create the zip (I was doing it wrong the first time round). The CWM-compatible zip is now added, including uninstaller.
EDIT2: Uploaded the wrong zip files. Please redownload if you downloaded before.

Will this work with the Galaxy S3 for AT&T?
Can anyone help me implement this on the stock Galaxy ROM?
Starting from the jelly bean update, the language files are completely removed from the system's apk and jar files. It would probably require more than just a simple mod to enable it. I will try when i have time.

So being the risk taker that I am.. I flashed this on my STOCK/ROOTED (Not Deodexed or anything) device and everything went through fine but, no change to the phone app (No Call Recording option) on screen or in menu... just a fyi... Thanks
Edit: My signal seems to be a bit better though!
Thanks for the file,
But I have a quick question for you, whats up with the faceunlock section within your script?
Also correct me if I am wrong but I also noticed that /system/etc/snd_soc_msm is deleted and replaced with what is in your zip, however you make no mention of backing that up, you only mention backing up secphone.apk, I am assuming this needs to be backed up as well. Being cautious since it hasn't been tested.
I haven't had a chance to really look over it but thanks none the less

This does work on Wicked V4,
Record button shows up on call screen.
Add Call can be accessed via the phones menu button.
Recordings are save in /sdcard/Sounds folder
Recorded Volume of other party is fantastic (actually a little loud)
Recorded Mic volume is fantastic
Kodos to the OP for getting it to work.
God Bless.

Nice job! I know someone else was trying to get it working for T-Mobile but needed a hacked system file (I believe the stuff found in etc) but seems to be working on my warpdrive ROM! Great job! I am however going to further mod it and change "sounds" to "Phone calls" and prompt user to enter a name for it after hitting "stop".

Yeah, that was one of the things that was over my head when I tried doing this mod. Good job though overall.

Here is a Flashable zip for you T-Mobile users I originally made this for Verizon S4 . I updated the zip with T-Mobiles SecPhone.apk. I don't have anyway of testing this but it should work fine. I take no responsibility if this bricks your phone. I would back up your original SecPhone.apk before flashing.

This works perfectly with Tmobile M919 Galaxy S4, really appreciate your work.
I was wondering if I could add this mod to a stock tmobile M919 rom which I
a working on and will be creating a new rom thread in Tmobile development?
Of course I would give you all the credits for this call recording mode in the OP.
Also since you don't have a galaxy s3 M919 phone if you need someone to test
some other mods for the M919 device just let me know, would be glad to help.
Thanks!
Is it possible for you to make it for stock rom?
So could just install in on rooted stock
Since your version seems to work only for deodex

After you flash the zip you can just use a file explorer with root access got to system/app/ file and delete or rename SecPhone.odex file then reboot should work fine. When I get a chance I will post Odexed Zip

Can you make the one that will put recorder option in menu?
My phone and other appear are themed, as I'm sure many others, so current method will replace it back with plain white dialer

Hello,
Can you detail the method of getting this installed without flashing through custom recovery? I am running on rooted stock rom until somebody figures out how to make miracast function on custom roms...
Thanks!
