Did you use ROM manger to back your ROM? And the 1979 that's the same thing I got when I back up my phone using the recovery. So that might be it. Another question how many time did you back up your gs3 ?

Dose the 1979 file like something like 1979-01-02.12-34 that's not right but something like that if then it might be that but since u use cwm . You have a file on your SD card called cwm which your back up file should be there . And I believe it is name after that number . . Just in case have a ROM zip ready .. restore that file if it work you good if it don't it well tell just read. Then go flash to the zip ROM you have then go find a stock ROM and flash over .. simple... good luck

Well after struggling trying to understand flashing roms and what not I found the easy way..rom manager app from the market place...they do have a free version witch you do have to install regardless if your buying the premium..witch I did buy it to for support..after I perm rooted my phone I downloaded rom manager..clicked on the very first on to flash clockworkmod recovery..went down to back up current rom I named..went back into rom manager clicked download rom clicked the first one than bacon bits..to get bacon bit and overclock my phone to 1497mhz..its gonna ask you if you want to back up current rom I did not checked the box cuz I had already done it, than it gives you another box to clear the cache..witch I did check the box..let it do its thing took another 5 min..after it rebooted I was all done..but I did have to download all my apps again..unless if your google backup just downloads them for you..and now I just finished flashing the htc sense on my g2..everything work really nice..and the cool part is that all you have to do is go into your rom manager app..click on manage and restore back ups and you could just switch on whatever rom you want..if I want to be running froyo ot htc sense..one click away..really nice

That's awesome but u are preaching to the choir. Well some of us. I'm thinking about buying the paid version. I think it lets u download rom updates. U should check out titianium backup. One click restores apps and app data. I have the paid version one click restore.

Lol..na wasnt preaching...but thanx I'm gonna download titanium back up..its just I'm a new to flashing roms and stuff and this is easy for me

IT should be stated that Apps ONLY should be installed from one rom to a DIFFERENT rom.
DATA is highly NOT recommended to be copied over.
Data transfer is the reason most roms dont run properly after being installed.
Using appbrain is the way to go, IMHO
buy the full verson it is worth every penny ive had since my g1 but it keep unrooting my g1 for some reason so used amon ra recovery but if you r on a g2 now the full version is a must have!
So I rooted a friend's evo about a year ago and it is running:
Android 2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.17-gee557fd [email protected] #15
It wants to update to System Upgrade 4.24.651.1 (109.22mb) FOTA update. It fails because it is rooted...
What is the best way to do this? Unroot and update? Or flash the rooted rom?
Hey,
you my friend need to post in the right section Q/A ask a mod to move it....
but the easiest would be to flash a custom rooted rom.
Oh and btw never update ota with root many bad things can happen.

Thanks! Is this something I can flash over what he has now? If so, I will have to backup his data, right? Also, I will do a nandroid backup just in case...
Back up the apps using titanium backup, wipe, flash, and re-install (user apps only) with titanium backup. There are other apps out there that will back up contacts and text messages separately, but I have personally always had the best luck with Titanium back-up when it comes to apps. To really give yourself a chance at minimal issues only restore the apps and not the data unless you really need to.

Unless told otherwise, always do a full wipe TWICE! I back up all of my apps before a flash.

Well first of all I installed a custom rom (OmniRom 4.4) it had bugs cuz it's still new rom so I went back to stock after success installation I reboot my phone but the phone became a bell (I have rogers) so because it was late I thought I'll change the csc next day but early in the morning my brother installed the stock firmware again because of bloatwares well while he was installing he checked efs box and the repartition too
not 5 minutes after he waz done I saw what he did and since then I tried almost everything and looking everywhere I have even the twrp backup but the twrp can't find it becomes there is something wrong with internal memory
I installed titanium backup to restore my (tibu)
It did install nothing changed
I'm hopeless
Sorry for that spelling I'm using Taptalk lol
Can you use Odin to flash back to stock 100% and go from there? It looks like you definitely need to get back to stock firmware and your description is a little confusing as to what your brother did with...Odin?..that's a guess because you didn't state what he was doing exactly

Did you try to root or flash a zip? How did you attempt to upgrade to 4.4.2? Did you ODIN or flash the zip?
Just tried to update with the original Sammobile firmware

Pretty sure you flashed the wrong thing if you got it from here, this is the Sprint forum, and judging by your signature you have the TMo variant... and now you're probably screwed because you can't downgrade your firmware. Read read read, and don't flash stuff that's not for your phone.

could he not go into download mode and try to flash his stock rom?

No because he flashed the 4.4 Bootloader and they don't have 4.4 yet, so flashing the 4.3 firmware will brick it... He should be able to Odin a recovery and wipe everything and flash a new ROM.
OK I want to discuss backups so I'm clear on them. When we're told "make sure you backup" when we flash a new mod or someone comes up with a new whatever, what exactly are we to do.? I have a back up through philz recovery/backup/restore/backup to SD card1. Is this the best way to back up?.. Do we make a custom backup everytime we flash a new whatever it is? Thanks... Phil

yes use Philz for the backup and its recommended to have the backup just in case things go bat-**** so you wont have to Odin back to Stock and do everything from scratch....i personally only make a backup when im gonna flash something major like Bootloader, Modem, Rom, Splash Screen, Boot Animation, Ported Apps, De Bloating...things like that
I make a nandroid whenever I'm going to do something that I would regret not being able to restore from easily. I keep a minimum of two backups, usually the two most recent ones.
Recovery FLASHABLE version now posted near the bottom of the first post of the 3Minit Battery Mod for Conquest-Singularity and both Stock ND8 and NDC with 1000+ animated battery icons..
