As far as I know, Kernel is the bridge between Hardware and OS.
Why there are different version of kernels? I think it is because of Android versioning too, Kernel 2.6.35 is for ICS, and Kernel 3.0 is for Jellybean. And of course, new version of kernel do have improvements over the old one

Hello weihan1102.
Yes it is, but not very noticeable
Kernel usually affect on battery usage, wifi signals, etc... But still, it's not noticeable, unless the kernel you are using have something wrong with them

So I learned the hard way that I can't use Kings kernel with MIUI (completely froze my phone). What other kernels are out there that I CAN use with MIUI that will improve battery life?
Thanks in advance!

Try Tiamats 4.0.3 kernel sbc or non sbc, both work fine. Using it right now great with MIUI..

Heya,
I just installed this new rom (Android Revolution HD 5.1.0) and on that post it says that if u install setcpu u can clock it to 1200 mghz or something. I tried it and I also tried to perflock it but it said it didnt work and I had to mail the developer.
Anyone has an idea how Im able to overclock it? its the gingerbread version btw.
Thx in advance!
New kernel has yet to come for this base, so have patience, it will come soon i think

^ Use the 3.7 ROM if you really want to overclock.
It's also more stable and optimized.
Also the radio for 5.x.x is horrible :S I can hardly get any WIFI signal now.

this kernal works with all GB roms with sense dont people read its been updated about 10 times since release,
Install MDJ kernel to over clock GB rom.
Pardon if this is a dumb question, but I think I came across a post somewhere saying the Tiamat 3.3.7 SBC kernel can only be used on Android 2.3.3. Is this correct? If so, I wouldn't be able to use it on the new Miui rom that's 2.3.4 would I? Thanks for the help!
The Tiamet kernels, as far as I know, are for AOPS ROMS, which is what MIUI is. Sense is not AOSP.
I think you misunderstood my post. The new Miui 1.7.15 is running Android version 2.3.4. I just want to know whether the Tiamat 3.3.7 kernel is compatible with this Android version, as I heard it's only for AOSP roms 2.3.3 and below...

Mate You as per Your specs... I can say that you are already with the best kernel...
indeed nFinity is the best kernel currently.

nFinity is the best kernel at present.
Without wanting to dissappoint you, i flashed infinityplay (v10 flashable) on erwinp's e14 (nightly) and my phone wouldn't recognize any wifi after 1-2 days. I don't think you will actually have a prob on the rom you use, but if you do please state it. Thanks.

infinity by arco (your kernel) or infinityplay by keiran (more governors and IO scheduler)

If i recall sphinx is JB 4.1 right ? I would give lyfkevin a private message and ask him if he still have his CM10 (JB 4.1) WIND kernel sources, very good kernel for overclocking and battery life.
