Issues getting videos from phone to pc with usb connection - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have issue getting videos from phone to pc with usb connection. Normally with my evo3d I plug to my pc and go to my sdcard and pull videos. But on my sg3 it takes forever to get file and when I actually get file to pc there's a error. The video doesn't work. Sometimes when moving a file from sg3 pc a error pops up and say it can't be done. I help please.

Hello
I am a product Ambassador with Sprint. I am looking in to your issue and I cannot duplicate it on my S3. Can you please give me more detail? e.g. the resolution the video was shot at (720, 1080), size, etc?
Thanks.

Well I'm kinda new to this website but I also work for sprint and I have the galaxy s3 . First make sure you have the right drivers 32bit or 64bit . Make sure its right for your computer . We could get the driver at Samsung .com under support find you phone and hit downloads. At the bottom of the page hit software you should see your drivers. The when you connect make sure you have USB debugging on and use media . That's the way I do it . If still not working place the video o. A SD card and plug in to your computer . If that don't work the video might not be right . corrupted .. I would want that on my computer. . Next question have you try other videos.? .good luck .

I have copied a ton of movies to my GS3. Formats are typically MP4, quality/res is typically always high or HD but I've copied a few lo-D videos without issue.

I tried to duplicate this issue and I could not. Can you post a sample video? In the meantime, please try the following:
1. Install a codec for your PC e.g. DIVX or K-Lites. That may help the choppiness
2. If that doesn't work, do a full factory reset
3. If that doesn't work, please take your device to a sprint store to get it inspected as you may have a defective device.
I hope this helps. Thanks.

USB file transfer from pc problems

Hi all, I have been having this problem for a while and now i am tired of it. For sometime, when transferring files from my pc with win 7 to the my phones external sd, its moves really slow. the progress bar, time remaining and speed all moves very slow. When using any other devices it works correctly so i know its something with the epic. For instance, it may say its going a 1mb per second but it sits there and about every five or maybe even more seconds, it updates the speed or time remaining but shows barely any progress...
Do you have the official drivers installed? And dumb question is it a high speed USB port (2.0+)
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
It could be related to the speed of your card, the quality of your cable, and even which usb port you use. Or a combination of the three.
Try changing one of these, especially the cable or usb port and try out an app called sd tools. It will give you more information about actual read write speed to your card.

What do you mean official drivers? And thank you sir i will give that app a try

The official one from Samsung. Windows will find a driver to use for this phone(generic). You can find the download link in one of sfhub's one click Odin threads.

mp4.tmp from video recording?? **SOLVED!!!** - corrupt MP4 file repair

I'm using Task & Ktoonsez ROM
I recently recorded a series of videos. A few of the files are saved as mp4.tmp which is unreadable by any video player on the phone. I also have not been able to get any program on the phone or computer to open, play, or covert these files.
Each video file is 720p, around 10min long, and ~600mb. Each mp4.tmp file has a .mp4 file counterpart that is 0kb.
I don't think this is a ROM issue, but I think it's the camera software that's supposed to repair/process this file maybe?
Help is greatly appreciated. I would really like to save these files somehow if possible. If they are corrupt, I don't need the audio, just the video.
Thank you,
-Bob
Have you tried renaming the mp4.tmp to .mp4? Your simply changing the file extension but theoretically enabling video players to properly detect what they are.
You can either transfer them to your computer and then change them or even do it on your phone with a simple file viewer from the Market.
Hope that helps!

Yeah I thought that would work too. Alas, I was wrong...
Interesting. Have you tried renaming and then using a video player like vlc? Vlc for the Mac/PC can play just about anything. If that still doesn't work I'm at a loss my friend. I've never been successful with editing a unviewable file before.
One other thing. Have you tried other extensions? For instance .3gp or .avi? I'm not sure what format cm10 natively records, but I'd try that as well before giving up.

Yup, tried every extension I can think of and VLC as well as many other players. Thanks for the effort though. I still hope to solve it. The file size is right so I know there's information in there.

[Q] Funky Storage Issue

I've got a Sprint Galaxy SIII, SPH-L710 16GB, no SD Card. When I connect the device to my computer (WinXP, latest Samsung Drivers Installed) I'm able to see files I have downloaded to the storage via the device itself, as well as an .apk that I moved over from my computer, but I'm not able to see the various folders (DCIM, Foursquare, Music, Goomanager, Etc...) Is there something I'm missing here? Phone is running CM10.1 JellyBro.
**In the attached screenshot you can see the various files and folders, when I try to access the storage on my desktop, all I can see are the GAPPS.zip file, and the WhatsApp.apk
I know when I connect mine (vistax64) it pulls it up as a media device should be able to see it under my computer. If not I would look under your media player settings. Or you may wanna check to see if USB debugging is checked on your phone

Thanks. I actually tried that. USB debugging changed nothing. When I threw an SD Card in though, it suddenly was able to see SOME of my folders... I'm gonna do a clean wipe and start fresh, using the CM10.1 Official Nightly. I really need to get this remedied. I'll circle back once I have some results.
Should be studying for my MA Life Insurance license, and not buggering with my phone... oh well.

What happened to my pictures?!

I've been trying out various 4.2 ROMs over the course of the past few weeks, only to return back to 4.1.2 each and every time. I always manage to get all of my files transfered back from that dreaded "0" files without any issues. That is until yesterday. After deciding that I'm still not sold on 4.2, I flashed back to 4.1.2, transfered all of my files, and then restored a backup from just before flashing. Apparently, now I can't view any of my pictures. They're in the gallery but they're all greyed-out and I cannot view them. What happened and is there any way to get them back to normal? I'm extremely disappointed as they're all quite meaningful to me... Help!

Try any other gallery app such as QuickPic which is available on the Play Store. I hope this solves your issue somehow

If you can access them via any file manager, then I suggest to take them to your PC and ensure that they are viewed correctly on your PC. If so then they are safe and just restore again or flash a new ROM and put them back. Hope this helps

OK. Connected to computer. Every picture pops up as a file as they usually would. However, every time I try to view a picture, I get "Photo Gallery can't display this picture because it is an empty file." Ouch. Sounds like they're lost and gone forever...

Did you try restarting your GNex to see if they will not be grey?
Assuming you have some pictures in the DCIM folder, then try accessing them from storage/sdcard0/DCIM not /sdcard/DCIM then sending them to PC to check one more time.

I was talking about /storage/ directory which you can only access if you have root and enable it in ES File Explorer.

Hi, I'm having a similar issue, been trying to fix it by flashing different versions and lock/unlock combinations, but all my files are screwed up, can't seem to fix it. I too get grey/black photos and videos, but what's worse is that I can't access any of the files through regular PC exploration.
I used Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.1 to backup my stuff, but it gave me this problem :/

Honestly, this is the first time I see such pictures with this yellow triangle. I do not exactly know what this means but if these images are lost then they would not have shown at all I guess, so I will try to search for a solution on the Internet and will let you know if I found anything. For the time being, I hope some other more experienced members will be able to help you much bettER. Good Luck!
This is the first time I've encountered this issue as well. I'm at a loss... Its strange, all of the files are there but have that little yellow triangle and contain no data. My only hope is that they're still in there... somewhere.

Check the following two things:
1- If you go to the details/properties of any of the images, is there a logical size for each of them?
2- Does it show the same yellow triangle when checking the pictures via /data/media/0/ , /storage/emulated/0/ , and /sdcard/ ?
I am just trying to collect more information so hopefully other members also can help you bettER

Do you know if there's a way to extract files from an .AB (Android Backup) file for windows? I want to know if my pictures and videos are really in there; after running an SD rescan, all my files disappeared from the SD Card and I can't see them on the PC or phone, I'm starting to believe the backup I made with Nexus Root Toolkit just made some "ghost" image of the files but they are actually gone.

Need help with getting media off my galaxy nexus

So Im needing a little help. I just got the note 2 and want to get all my pics and vids over to my note. I know there isnt an sd card for the nexus. But I plug my phone into my laptop and click import pictures and videos and it goes up to about 1073 pics and vids and then just stops. Nothing else works. Ive also tried to just look for the file where all my pics are at using ES File or astro file. And I cant seem to locate where they are at. Can someone point me in the right direction please. I would appreciate it. Thanks

I would recommend using "AirDroid" app. It is convenient to select pictures/videos and download them to your PC and then transfer it to your Note2. Alternatively if you have ADB installed that's probably the fastest way. Simply use the commands *adb pull /sdcard/DCIM*
You're complicating things too much. Browse to your phones media folders after you connect to your desktop and then just drag the drag to where ever you need them saved on your PC. Then, do that in reverse for your Note.
Don't import anything. That's for people who don't know how to use a computer. Always drag and drop.
