I tried that like 5 times on 2 different Macs. One of the lines is wrong. You have to type:
"cd /user/username/downloads" and once you untar the file and attempt to flash it gives you a message that either "heimdall" or "kernel" is an invalid command. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

If you untar the files, there are images inside. Those are flashable from the stock recovery.

A very simple solution would be to go onto your PC and download from miui.us . Just transfer the zip to your SD and voila!

Unroot revolutionary on Linux?

Trying to restore my sisters phone to stock unrooted after warranty replacement but my current laptop is running Ubuntu studio 12.04. All the guides I've found are for windows and using adb through the command prompt. Is there a similar guide using bash/alternative method for Linux?
I spent a lot of time on Google trying to figure this out, so, if there's an obvious solution, please try not to flame. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would really really appreciate it. Thanks!

I believe he wants to change the displayed script when you flash something. It's in meta-inf/google/Android and the file is called updater script. That may not be the exact path, but once you get in meta-inf those are the only folders. Be careful what you modify.....
