galaxy s3 backup/restore question - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys,
My s3 is rooted and I'm wondering:
If I backup my current phone using clockworkmod, can I restore it into another rooted s3? I ask bc wmight broke my phone and bought aanother one, same model(sgh-I747).
So I'd like to flash my backup since it was set up exactly how I liked it.

Yes you can, I've done it before.

Hey, why do you say it's not worth it? Potential problems by doing this?

You can do an advance restore of the Nan (data) on the new device

Still not OTA for it. The only way is to install a custom ROM based on it.

Tried that. Didn't like me. Dunno, must be doing something wrong. Lol

Define stock ICS. Stock as in Google's vision, or Samsung/T-Mobile's? If the second, yeah.
What? Why did you tell them no?
You don't need to root at all you just download Samsung Kies on your PC or Mac.

What do u mean? Question is not clear. If you are asking about getting ICS on phone without root then yes you can via samsung kies.

I think the OP meant vanilla ics. In which case you would need to root your phone to flash the custom ROM as TMobile nor Samsung is going to release AOSP for our phones.

Sorry yea i meant vanilla ics, without touchwiz.

Questions go in the Q&A section
Tell me if I'm wrong...
but, I'm looking at the notes for installing CWM and root here using odin and it doesn't look like you need root to flash CWM via odin.
Could he/she not install CWM w/o root and then flash a non-root rom (non-existent at the moment, sure, but new CM9 is not rooted by default for security).
So, unless there is something I don't know, then is there any reason that he/she couldn't do as I described?
Honestly, I'm thinking of working on an AOSP rom w/o root for security reasons. I'll have to look into it to see if it's worth it, because, honestly, I've never done it. I mainly just want a reason to get into some C hacking.

Running stock rooted?

Anyone else run stock rooted or just Cm even though all these 4.1 ROMs are coming out??

I just got a certified like new replacement due to my horrible reception and the reception on the new one is much better so im going to stay stock on it for the time being until JB is fully released by Verizon.
Because I'm thinking of just chilling with stock ICS too.

x2. Curious as well.
Stock JB 4.1.1 OTA'ed from ICS, love it, still haven't found a reason to do anything beyond flashing CWM and rooting!
Tried others, back to stock rooted....perfect the way it is!

Stock Ics, unlocked and rooted. Waiting for Verizon to release jellybean so I can manually update my nexus.
I'm running stock with one change. Custom soft keys.

This is probably a stupid question, but if I have a nandroid of CM10 and Blazer, can I switch between the two anytime by:
Wipe factory data reset
Wipe Cache/dalvik
Restore (CM10 or Blazer) nandroid
Or is there a better/safer way?
Thanks

Yep, good for updating PRL/Profile when going back to a TW rom.
So there will be no problems switching between AOSP and TW nandroIds?
I was reading elsewhere that the kernel can cause issues, is this true? (I was searching/reading through old topcís)
And I'm asking because I really would like to understand it, thanks!
