HTC wildfire battery issues - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I have been using HTC wildfire for almost 2 years now but for past 6 months battery has started having issues.
I was told by my friend that Froyo has had battery issues and to root my phone and install GB on it.
After rooting and install GB Galaxy Nexus by JM (ICS STYLE MOD) , my performance much better but the battery has gotten worse. It does not charge over 67% ( left it on charging over night/phone turned off)
Even with 67% charge, it drops down to 40% after 4 to 5 text messages in 10 minutes and it drops to 20 if take a call for 7 to 10 minutes. If I dare to download a app or leave my mobile data on it goes down to 10% in 20 to 30 mins.
I read on other forums that if the phone is running older version of recovery it could cause battery issues but my phone is running recovery version 4
I also read that a few say that they had to change the motherboard to fix the battery issues.
I have tried:
Juice Defender
batter saver
Super aTool Box-cache battery
Battery Dr saver+a task killer
I have stopped using apps on my phone. I only use my phone call and text but I still need to charge it 10 times a day.
I cleared the battery cache in recovery but no change in fault.
please help!!!
Is there a known issue with the phone that I'm not aware off.Any thing else that I can try before replacing motherboard or battery.
Thanks in advance

As you said- your battery is 2 years old, so i think that you could buy new one my battery is also very old (i have my WF for 2 years) and also have problems with battery ): even new custom roms didn't help. Only way i think is to buy new battery

It's your battery, I would go on ebay and find a good quality battery for your phone, a OEM or even an extended battery would be good. Battery's last a long time but after daily use for 2 years it wears them out. Hope this helps

ok, so go to cwm and wipe battery stats, then try to recharge (;

and for longer battery life i recommend u to use conservative or powersave cpu governor if u use willy only for phoning, messaging and net (;

Try to install Gsam Battery Monitor and see in the menu "App Usage" if there is an app that is draining the battery.

i had the same problem, and bought a new extended battery, and nothing has changed....after 12+ hours charging it never goes over 80%, and in about 6h-7h of minimum use is under 10%...does anyone know how to fix this?

Somebody posted months ago that they had taken there's back to HTC who said it was a fault on the motherboard, they replaced the board I think and his problem was fixed.

I had the same problem. It's mostly a motherboard problem. Changing the motherboard will fix it according to HTC guys.

Battery Drain

Hi All,
When i look into (almost) all roms i see the problem with the battery drain problem.
To bad i do not have the knowledge to find out what to do.
But i think that some smart developers work together to find a solution about this battery drain problem.
So that's why i start this thread so we can discuss this

Drain
Tested a lot of roms with froyo and sense. The roms based on 2.06 base are draining relative more then the roms based on 2.04.
Above is not scientificly tested.
Charge to 100% , go to recovery , advanced , wipe battery stats. Enjoy greater baterry life

I had NONE battery drain problems on any of ROMS 2.1 or 2.2, and i did try alot of them.
Maybe theres something wrong with your phone itself (battery).
But definetly try wipe battery stats in recovery.
Since 08:00 morning had WiFi on.. network Data of... and now 12:02 battery is now 90%. DId have play with config the Tasker Tool (Great app).
Tomorrow i will do the test again but then with Network Data on and WiFi off.

people are having mixed results on the battery perfermance of adam's sensefroyo rom. i experienced a poorer battery life compared to eclair (i used Amer_v4 and the battery was excellent) but can still manage to last a full day usually. haven't tried out the froyo roms though.

btw aren't you're using opendesire?
I've changed about 8 roms, mostly used 4, but can't say there was a huge difference between them. 2 days of normal use, 1 day of heavy use.
Possibly shadowfrost and DeFrost 2.4 had the best battery life and I had the fastest kernel installed...
I would think that - some isolated problem aside - mostly it has to do with some applications/settings

sometimes my E-Mail application is consuming most of the cpu. It keeps the cpu at max frequency. Even if i try to end the taks with the app "system panel" it wont solve the problem. I have to go into the app and make a manual sync.
i also found out that automatic brightness is using loads of battery. since i set it to static I'm experiencing almost 2 days of battery life with moderate use.
I'm on Defrost 2.1
Hello again everybody,
Yesterday whole day online by WiFi. Using phone couple of hours and my Maildroid Email was active without prevent sleep mode.
Battery was empty after almost 17hours. (+/- 5% every hour)
Today. Wifi on. Maildroid now with prevent sleep mode ON.
Have unplugged the phone 4 hours ago and battery is at 75%
Tomorrow i will test this with Network Data on.. and without prevent sleep mode of Maildroid. And day after with prevent sleep mode.
I know for sure.. the battery will drain very vast for both situations...
BUT Ill let you know
EDIT 26-07-2010: Battery was empty tonight on 1:30.
NOW I do the whole test again but now with network data on and WiFi off
Ive had the opportunity to own a Nexus One at launch and a HTC Desire...I always found Android OS to be the issue whenever i had excessive battery drain.
Ive found my issue to center around the OS 'calling home to sync' (whether 'sync' option is selected or not)Initially, the problem was resolved by deleting all my sync funtions...but that was obviously not practical........ so now I keep my GSM data connection running and I get about 2.5 days on Open Desire (non HTC Sense).
AdamG seems like the guy who knows what hes talking about - His changelogs for OpenDesire actually hint at him having done some battery drain tweaking...whatever he did, he has definitely fixed it
Cheers

I've tried so many ROMS in the past few weeks to try to solve battery drain issues. On some, I could almost see the percentage dropping as I looked at the home screen! I even bought a new battery thinking I might have killed the original.
OpenDesire does seem to be the way forward re this problem if you're intent on the HAVS kernel. OD2.3a gave me almost two days of varied use.
However, and I know this is going backwards, an earlier DeFrost - the 2.1, is brilliant for me. I'm now at two days since unplug and still at an unbelievable 45% - yes, I know, I thought it was broke as well! For now, I'm sticking with this one. Everything I want works and I don't have to carry a spare battery in my pocket when I go out.
Hope this is of some help. Don't despair. You will find the one for you.
Cheers
I don't get why everyone says they have such a issue with battery.
I get about 2.5-4 days of use with DeFrost 2.2 and have done about so since DeFrost 0.9. I've had it up around five days once.
How are you actually using your phones?
It's not a "Froyo" issue.

Battery problem

Hi all,
I'm on ddjp6 rooted.
Battery stand by is good.
But during using internet, fully charged battery expires in just 20 minutes or less...
The phone immediatly shuts down after showing low battery warning. (in 5 seconds)
Is this a rom problem?
Because I think on official eclair , the battery was good.
Can a custom rom solve this?
Please suggest me...
Thanks in advance...

How old is your battery ?
This may be indication of battery is about to get worse and die
During stand-by battery doesn't needs much power so it sustains standby.
A new battery should be around 500/599INR. at samsung service center.
My battery is 20 months old, but still lasts for 3-4 days easily.
I'm using Custom OC ROM.
Drain battery to "0" and charge it continuously for 3-4 hours, keeping phone switched off. Do this once a month. This fixes problem.
If u've rooted then do battery calibration...

Unsolved Issue, I give UP!

I can not understand why it happened to me, i have been using gio for over a year now with 2.3.3 and my battery could take out 2 days with music, wifi and games but a month back i flashed Cm7.2 and the battery drained like hell.
This battery issue is killing me and i tried everything, calibration, wiping stats, flashing other ROMs at 100% and alot of other tweeks but now i give up.
I think its battery problem but how can this problem arise, iam thinking to buy a new battery.
Does anyone has same issue and changed the battery?
Was the problem corrected after new battery?
Please reply as your replies would really help me
Thank You!
reflash but wipe all battery settings and retrain all wipes battery effects are software is obscure complaining(intelligent?) battery deductions
but once max==min it fails
wipe battery after 24h load then drain as far as possible at the end reboot untill it does not start any more or boot cwm
then rest a while and boot Rom.
maximizes spread software min and max
but you can never beat a real dead battery
Enthusiastic Gio User
Very glad with the work done
But sometimes a pusher for results( nothing bad intended)
So u saying, i shuld buy new battery?
I already said im gonna buy a new one as this one is swollen.
I asked if anyone used new battery after the battery is swollen and their experience.
Will 1500mAh battery on gio do good?
1500 is fine, just remove batterystats

batteries dont life forever, just like humans. however, batteries are smaller, also in life. after some time and lots of charging it will lose some Mah and not have the 1300 like it has normally but maybe 1200, and even less if you use it a long time.

Help me fix my battery life!

Hi guys. Thursday last week I got a Note II, wonderful device. I see people stating that it eats 1% battery in 10-15 minutes, but for me, it eats 1% in 1-3 minutes, when in use. I am running MonxIfied Sent and RedPill 0.10 kernel with stock speed. It consumes very little battery when sleeping, but it is in use that is the problem. I will add some pics of battery usage. What's wrong?

To be honest it seems quite normal. Keep in mind it's a big screen plus if you have mobile data or wifi on then the phone is likely to be doing stuff in the background when the device is awake.
What does the partial wakelocks in better battery stats look like?
EDIT: Eh, never mind, if it consumes very little battery when sleeping it's probably not a wakelock...
There's a pretty steep drop there in the third screenshot, looks strange. Wonder what happened there!

The OP is asking about battery drain when the screen is ON.
Partial wakelocks should be of no concern really, unless his battery was draining fast when screen is off.

Interesting theory. Can't say I know for sure but I guess it's plausable if it has poor signal or drops out often.
Have you tired chaning the channel on it? I do that for my Xbox 360 sometimes if signal is crap.
You could also try flashing a different modem on your Note 2 to see if that improves things. I remember on my old HTC Hero and Desire HD changing the radio (modem) could often improve wifi / mobile data reception and as a result improve battery consumption.
Again, I'm not expert on this so just guessing!
72% with one hour screen on
13% drop when you used recovery
=> after 1 hour screen on 85 percent
=> after 6 hours screen on, 10% battery
=> your phone doesn't have a problem

Well..
It's just the same way like how you flashed the cm10.1 rom..
Try to head to this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2218087
There's also an instruction on a proper way to flash it..
And don't forget to thanks him if you like his kernel
CM10.1 aka Android 4.2.2 uses higher voltage compared to CM10 and CM9(especially CM9).
So its understandable. But in CM10.1, SGW can use 1.0Ghz and still fluently do a lot of things.
Try underclocking and undervolting.

hmmm.... maybe it's because of your battery.. from my experience , you should buy new battery if the battery is used more than 1 year... i had experinced before when my battery drain faster, after i bought new battery.. the problem solved...
Guys. Stop telling him it´s the battery. If it were the battery the draining would be already that fast before flashing CM10.1, but not just after.
A bloated and aged battery can of course be the reason, but this doesn´t have to be always the case. My stock Samsung battery is already 2 years old but working like new. However I have to admit that I don´t use it that often. Having here 3 batteries I´m changing them regulary every few months.
This draining will be more related to the LCD version in his phone, which he should read about and check before flashing a CM10.1 based rom. Additionally the recent Google updates can cause even more battery drain than the LCD Rev.3 issue alone, which has to be taken also into account.
