Just wondering when will Verizon's galaxy Nexus get JB? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So sorry I know this question was probably asked already but I did a search but I couldn't find an answer. I am fairly new to the Galaxy Nexus and i notice jelly bean been out since the summer and we still dont have a release date on it. Love this device its so amazing man and again sorry for asking this question.

When the big red is done testing.
-or do what the cool kids do here-
unlock, fastboot a recovery and flash a JB rom.
good day.

Yep, grab a JB rom and stop the wondering!

It's extremely hard to brick this phone. Read a few guides and you'll be fine

Sounds about right.

I have both snail mailed and emailed (directly to the CEO) VZW. No response...and it's been about a month since I mailed their corporate headquarters.

If I were a betting man is say by January... just a guess though. Happy flashing!

Ask Verizon Wireless why no JB update

I would like everyone who is interested in seeing an official build of Jellybean for the GNex sooner rather than later to ask them what the hold-up is on all of their social media. If we can pressure them nicely using a public forum, then we might see it before 2013. Just a thought.

On one hand it can't hurt, on the other it never seems to help either. I would advise to get on a custom ROM if you can't wait. That said, I have contacted them on all 3 social media sites already.
Edit: If you post on fb, you may get a reply like this..
I would like to see Jelly Bean on my Nexus as well! We do not have a date at this time for Jelly Bean, but once available, we'll announce it here & you'll see details on vzw.com/support. ^MSF

Or maybe they aren't even testing a "OTA ROM" to even begin with. A company should have better communication to their customers with upcoming updates.
As a Verizon customer and been with them for years, I come to expect this.
and as a Nexus user, I don't care when Verizon releases it because there's plenty of custom ROMs for me.
I did say it would be probably September at the earliest before the Toro gets JB officially.
Well, I just installed Vicious 4.1.1 v1, and I no longer care. Best choice I've made all day Carry on!

^THIS^
The Verizon rep I just spoke to claims they have NOTHING to do with the update, that they come directly from Samsung and VZW doesn't touch it, test it, nothing. I don't believe that.
@adrynalyne can't wait to see what you can do with the Nexus 7.
Also, all I want is the jellybean radios. Sure jellybean would be nice, but the toro is aosp now so no need to really worry about that.

It was a half truth.
VZW doesn't 'touch' it. They test it, but never modify it. They send a change/fix request to Google.
Slick bastards and their wordplay.

Time to start harassing VZW. Back in the days of the GalaxyS Fascinate, they pushed 2.2 pretty quickly after a day of spamming. Just saw that GNex was their best selling phone in quarter 2 - you think they would provide better support.

Yes that is the radio GSM . If you would like some help i can help you through teamviewer and remotely control your desktop and walk you through the process. Then walk you through the process of flashing a ROM. Thats if you like anyways.

Jelly Bean (yakjuux JRO03C) + new UGLH1 radio for Canadian devices

Hi,
I live in Canada and have my GN with Bell. I've been stuck on 4.0.1 since I got the phone; no updates were ever available.
Recently, I had to get my phone repaired and gave it in to the Samsung place here and when I got it back, it was updated to 4.1.1 (I attached a pic of the info)
I just wanted to ask you guys if all the info there looks good/correct. Also, not really sure how the tech managed to update it since nothing was ever available...
On another note, I was wondering if any of you could direct me to rooting methods (preferably on mac) / ways to change to yakju (also preferably on mac) on the version of the phone I have now... I searched and saw a bunch of different methods and whatnot, but I'm terrified to choose a potentially "wrong" one.
Thanks!
they must have updated it using Odin. is the IMEI the same or a different phone
I don't think I've ever seen that baseband before. I wonder if Samsung is actually close to releasing something for the Candian yakjuxx variant.

Before you change to yakju, would you mind dumping your radio, bootloader and ROM please? You have a new radio, so I'm sure lots of folks would like to try it out. And I'm sure lots of Canadians would like to try out your ROM as well.
I can post instructions later tonight.

Category is "Mobile Phones" and search for "LS970"
Oddly there are two different versions. Even more oddly, searching for "970" (the generic number for the Optimus G) the Sprint version is the only one available, even though the International and AT&T versions have already been released.
I don't suppose this will help much in getting the bootloader unlocked but good to have at least. Will be useful if we do. No one is worse than HTC about releasing source.

Most devices don't get the resources that sextape gave us, so they rely on guesswork primarily. We are very lucky to have thecubed also who is doing all of the actual unlocking and has experience with lg devices and bootloaders.

I'm assuming that if one gets unlocked, then the process for unlocking the other variants will be fairly the same if not the exact same. So if one gets unlocked, then they should all be able to be unlocked, assuming that all of the variants are locked down the same. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Awesome. I really wanted a Nexus 4 but I guess I'll settle for it's step brother.

I don't think it's a problem. I have a Nexus 7 with a sealed battery and I've never had to worry about it. Any times that it completely locked up (including while in fastboot), I can hard reset it by holding all the buttons down for a while.

Thanks for the info. So I've downloaded it and just finished doing a backup. If I use TWRP to resore this 4.3 backup, will it work? I know I won't have access to Sprint signal and most other stuff, but will it at least allow me a glimpse into 4.3? Or is this dump strictly for developers to extract files from?
Basically, if you tell me it will brick my phone for sure then I won't do it, but I would like to do it and post screenshots of the new system...
Please Advise (lol)
