HTC Desire stuck in HBOOT - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had my phone in the rain a little yesterday, listening to music, and it suddently went to the HTC-screen for some minutes.
I took out the battery and then it went to HBOOT.
It says:
BRAVO PVT4 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Aug 10 2010, 17:52: 18
HBOOT
(VOL UP, VOL DOWN,...)
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
Also it has said something about SD card for a brief second and then it goes away.
The volume buttons worked for a little while yesterday, and I pressed recoverey, and bootloader, and it just went back to HBOOT.
Now the volume buttons and power button mostly don't work (but sometimes), and I can't do anything.
Can also mention that earlier yesterday I removed some files from the SD card on my computer, but it was images and music, I don't think I removed something I shouldn't have, but maybe?
What should i do? I hope my phone can be rescued.. Really wish I can fix it on my own, but should I just take it to the store where I bought it? Am afraid that they will just tell me that it is ruined by water and it can't be fixed, or that I have to pay a lot to have it fixed.
PS I don't know anything about technical things and my phone so you have to explain things slowly thanks

For start your phone has to disassembled and cleaned, slowly dying buttons are the first symptom of water influence on phone electronics.

Forgot to say that I had the battery, sd card and sim out this night, and had the phone in a bowl of rice

If you flashed a good ROM and your stuck in hboot, use fastboot and use the following command 'fastboot oem boot' that will force your phone to boot.

[Q] issues rebooting

Hi all,
I was preparing my Desire for a LeeDroids ROM and was about to partition the SD card. I pressed back up current ROM by accident and the phone switched itself off. Now i cant seem to get it up and running again.
I have tried to enter recovery mode but nothing seems to happen. Does the process of getting to the exclaimation mark screen (where you press and hold vol up and press power) take long? All i see is the white HTC screen followed by a little black band at the top of the screen and then nothing.
Am i being impatient and is there any way of sorting this out?
Thanks in advance

Take the Sd card out and see if it boots. If it does its the partition on the sd card needs doing again.
Yeah i sorted it - thanks for your reply.
I am still having a bit of trouble loading a custom ROM though - the zip folder is definately on the root of the SD card but every time i try to boot to the recovery screen the same thing happens. I get the htc screen - a black line at the top followed by either a freeze or a reset that means the handset can only be restarted if you take the battery out for a few seconds

I think...flash a original rom from your provider or from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
and flash unrevoked 3 (recovery)..
make a ext3 using rom manager from market
and then flash a new radio...and rom
edit: unrevoked

and a (german) instruction with pictures

Thanks very much for your detailed reply Alex-V.
To be honest though i would even know which ROM to choose out of all of those. I've read that people have been unsuccessful due to HBOOT version incompatibility etc so i wouldnt know where to start
These are the details i have recovered from the bootloader menu
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-ON
HBOOT - 0.83.0001
Radio 4.08.00.09
My phone is unbranded and unlocked so no tie to any network but Orange UK is my provider.
I have seen other threads where there are different RUU's for different HBOOT versions but i havent come across any for 0.83 just 0.80 & 0.75
0.83 ...
Is your screen SLCD or AMOLED?
I would be very careful with 0.83. Search around there are a few threads specifically for 0.83. Sorry I can't help much as I don't follow them except that some 0.83 come with SLCD and quite a few people got their desire messed up. It's been fixed. So read around first.
I was under the impression that my screen was AMOLED and had seen something briefly about the SLCD problem elsewhere, but if i'm honest i didnt realise that some desires had different screens (how can you tell the difference). Didnt really have chance to read it properly though so i will go back and have a look.
Like you say i havent seen too much info on the 0.83 HBOOT.
I appreciate your help

[Q] HELP! is my Desire bricked ?

I just got this HTC Desire(2.2, root) and played around and I'm afraid I bricked it ): the phone's screen stays black till now. Please please help me out.
Here is what I copied from the screen before fooling around:

There was only one file PB99IMG.zip on my TF card(8g, FAT32, one partition, the original file name is
PB99IMG_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed_txt.zip ).
I booted to fastboot mode and selected recovery from the menu and after the zip file was checked up I pressed button volume+. The phone's screen went black at once and it seemed totally dead. I waited a while and unloaded the battery and put it back. The phone wouldn't boot to fastboot anymore. Pushing power and whatever button doesn't help. The screen stays black. If I just push the power button only, the phone vibrates and after a while I can hear startup music just like it's normal except the screen is black. However, the music is looped with silent gaps.
Is my phone totally dead? Is there anyway to save the phone? What should I do?
Guys, please help me out. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.
You've flashed an AMOLED RUU on an SLCD Desire...big mistake
Get the PB99IMG for 2.29.405.2, put that on the SD card and turn it on holding the volume down key. Leave it about 5 minutes and then press volume up and leave it. Assuming it takes you'll reboot into stock 2.29.405.2 and should be up and running.
This obviously assumes you actually have an unbranded Desire

Fabulous, searching and reading would have worked too. EddyOS must be a saint for still answering to questions that have been asked thousands of times. Pollution is bad, hmkay.

Whereas I definitely agree that searching has to be done it was easier just to say what to do in this case in the hope people in future find the information.
Other days I won't be so nice
my desire is with 4 triangles at the corner ,i use jtag n run but still same, flash Ruu roms but with a lot of error, any idea to help?.thks

[Q] Htc DESIRE Stuck in HBOOT Please Help!

Hi im Having a Problem with my HTC DESIRE Branded to TMOBILE the other day i was using it as usual then all of a sudden the battery dies as it normally does so i put it on charge Turned on the phone then BAM it boots to Hboot so i pulled the battery out and put it back in and turned the phone back on to find it boots straight to Hboot.
But the thing is the vol up/down and power buttons dont work as they should
do they are unresponsive but when i press the HOME Menu Track pad back Button and Search buttons is a random order after a few seconds the vol up button and power button become responsive so i can select things
from the list:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIM LOCK
But this is where i also encountered another problem if i try to select Clear Storage it gives an option saying Yes No and some other text which i cant read because it shows for a split second before reloading Hboot.
So im Trying to fix it with help of course before obviously paying for repairs that
will cost a bit of £££ because it has run out of warranty.
I have tried using an RRU: (RRU_Bravo_Froyo_TMO_UK_2.12.110.4_R_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157560_signed) This finished but the phone rebooted and went straight to HBoot.
And i have also tried using an PB99IMG.zip version of this which Praised the zip file i selected update (or what ever it said) it got so far down this list that all updated
until it updated the System part and got to Splash 1 and Splash 2 (something like this) and stopped it went so quick i dont know if they updated or not but i am aware it said would i like to reboot or something which Flashed for a split second not giving me a choice.
I am Totally new this Flashing and using RRUs that i do not know if what i was doing was the correct way of going about it or if i was using the right files so your help will be very much appreciated.
so all i can do is give this which is what i get from Hboot (i dont know weather this will help):

Are you sure your vol down button is not stuck in pressed position?
Try newer RUU 2.3.3 from htcdev... That delay at start of hboot is normal, it is checking sd card for pb99200.zip file

ok right ive downloaded as instructed i think i may be a step further but im still having issues once the RRU finished it showed a white screen with the HTC logo (i used to have a pink circle) the HTC logo then changed to a black screen with a green arrow pointing down with 2 more green arrows going around it i swiped downwards which i thought i was supposed to do then the screen chenges to a red exclamation mark (!) with a triangle around that so i take out the battery put it back in hold the power button whichboots it stright to HBoot al though then i got to recovery it does the same as before HTC logo, Green arrow circle thingy, then Red ! and a triangle
any More Advice
Just noticed Some difference in Hboot some of my stats have changed

Did process finish before you pull battery out? flashing ruu is automatic process you need to wait till it finish... yes you have updated radio
yeah m8 the process finished
it should restart itself, run it again and don't touch until restarts (risk of brick)
Have you been s-off with custom hboot?
Ran it again process finished booted to a white screen HTC logo for a while then went straight back to HBoot.
As far s im aware i have a normal Hboot and im S-ON would it help if im S-OFF and how would it help?
This is doing my nut in...
Why do you think you are out of warranty? The Desire was released in Europe around May 2010, and even if you bought it right then, you are still under warranty because in Europe the warranty time is two years. Just send your phone to HTC and let them repair it.
in my booklet it says i have 12 months and i have no receipts either so im stuffed unless i can find a way to fix this

That's no random screen. This is the Phone's bootloader menu. You can reach recovery from there, reboot your phone, update it and much else. If you come to the bootloader screen by just turning on your phone, most probably your boot image (kernel) is corrupted. If hboot can not load the boot image properly, it goes to hboot menu.

FASTBOOT is a special connection mode. Via fastboot (an application for windows/linux/mac) you can issue bootloader commands to your phone.
RECOVERY brings you to a recovery OS. Since you probably did not root your phone or unlock bootloader you have a standard recovery, which is not very helpful.
CLEAR STORAGE is a factory reset option. If you already tried this option all your userdata is probably gone by that time. So you need to restore all your contacts, messages etc. yourself.
Okay, how can you revive your phone?
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074445 and choose a proper RUU for your phone.
Then turn on your phone, bring it to fastboot mode.
Execute the RUU tool and follow the instructions. These are official RUUs so no warranty loss.
if that does not help, there's two ways left. send the phone back for warranty, or unlock bootloader and flash a new firmware yourself.
I'll start at the beginning, Yesterday i knocked my phone into the shower, the water wasn't running but the phone got wet, I was playing music on it at the time and the volume went all muffled, i took the back off and there was only a tiny bit of water in there so i dried it and put it back together and used it, all seemed fine except it kept bringing up the screen as if i was holding the power button which brings the menu button. Now it wont turn on unless its not on charge and that is when that menu comes up, I can scroll down the options but can't click on them.
(The menu came up after my battery had died, and i put it on and charged it and that came up when i turned it on)

HTC Desire, Broken?

Hey XDA.
Sorry if I'm posting the wrong place, but I'm a total noob on this forum, and yes I have seen the Noob-video and tryed to find a solution for my problem, but with out any luck =(
My Phone:
HTC Desire, running 2.2.2 Rooted using unlockroot v2.3
The phone was rooted and I had the superuser icon, but not sure if it ever worked like it should.
I was going to try to put 2.3 on it today, but this morning i just "locked" I have for the past weeks been having problems whit it overheating, and rebooting, but i just take the battery out and wait 2 minutes then it is running fine again, but now it is "frozen" on the white screen with the green HTC logo on it and noting more happens.
youtube(dot)com/watch?v=_dmQPgydqVM sorry for breaking the rule about outside links, but can't describe my problem without it.
I have found this video on youtube with a guy having the same problem, i can access the "boot-menu" or what it is called like he can, but noting happens.
If I where to ship it for repairs can they then see that it have been rooted?
I have ensurence on it so i can just "drop" it in some water, but do you then think that they will still test if it is rooted?
Can you plz help me?
I can't see what's written on bootloader screen cause video is too blurry, if you can write it down for me.
You can always try with 2.3 ruu.

CLEAR STORAGE

If i try fastboot i get a new meny with:
Bootloader
Reboot
Reboot Bootloader
Power Down
Nothing happens when i use them, if i press RECOVERY i just comes to the white screen with the green HTC text.
How can i get 2.3 on the phone? I think it is set to usb-debbugging and not sync.
You may have pvt1 overheating motherboard issue, but not necessary.
In my signature you have explanation how to get it, and when you get it, install htc sync on your PC first, then reboot phone to fastboot, and connect to PC to install drivers. At the end run RUU while your phone is in fastboot.
