New radio - OK to flash on CM10 - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Here's the thread on the new radio:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838765
Not sure if it's OK to flash this on CM10 JB?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

Yes it should be safe. Unless you are on a carrier other than tmobile.
If it doesn't work right, DO NOT flash a second time.
Its made to backup your current radio and flashing twice will overwrite the backup. Flash the restore and it will revert to the radio you have now.

Just flashed my Tomb S3, even though I'm on Wind it works fine. Speeds somewhat improved but nothing too dramatic, both on 3g and WiFi.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

Right on! Glad it worked. A number of folks on wind and Mobilicity had problems with the previous radio update, so keep your backup handy for a while, just in case! Id copy to your extSDcard.
Its located at /data/media/modem.backup
So is yours a T999V, or just T999?

I flashed it on Free GS3 R6 incase anyone is wondering and its working flawlessly and better then ever!

Mine is SGH-T999, TMob US
So far it's working great on CM10, no cap speeds to 10mb like reported with others (wifi - we could only wish to have 10mb on wind in GTA).

I have it flashed on the latest euroskank nightly. Working really well even in dead zones

Currently flashed CM10 tmo variant

Currently flashed CM10 tmo variant on my i747M Galaxy s3 . I have no issues with using the tmo variant, I want to jump back onto the at&t variant but is there any complications to it? Or can just flash an cm10 nightly on without doing anything out of the ordinary for flashing a rom

There are many of us here with i747ms running AT&T ROMs without issue, myself included. You will be fine.

you're looking too deep into this process. if you've done all the important things like make a nandroid and back things up then there is no reason to worry about anything.

Stock Telus, Bell and Rogers ROM anywhere?

Looking around and cannot find.
Appreciated!

They are not released yet but should be on the Samsung servers soon for download.
I plan to try and root inject them like Mr.Robbinson did for the S3.
I Have the checkfus software checking Samsungs servers like 12 times a day lol.

Thanks! I foolishly installed gapps 4.2 and didn't backup and can't really remove them. Everything is working so I can't complain.

im sending one to drop box for rogers as we speak, might be another hour before its up. this can be restored from twrp and is new (original) rom with root.
Diference between twrp and cmw?
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
Nevermind. Twrp installed. Just need the file. Thanks

A few (possibly dumb) questions.

I'm new to installing roms on the s3. I've had many different roms on my old Desire so I'm not entirely new to this, just had a few questions.
How easy is it to lose your imei number when flashing a new rom?
Is it dependent on anything specific?
Easy to fix if it does happen?
Anything else I should be worried about before flashing?
I'm looking at testing out cm10.1 and Task's rom as well as a few kernels.
Thanks.

Imei loss is random.
Best thing to do is to back it up. Easier to back up than to inject it back in manually. (Still not overly difficult but always have a backup)
Nothing to really worry about. Just don't flash a ROM not intended for your phone.

Actually most people loose IMEI going from a custom ROM to a stock based ROM.

So say im just stock att and rooted, and wanted to flash say csrom. do u think i would lose my imei? I had a gs3 last year. I flashed cm10 from the stock rom, then two days later flashed another rom cant rem which one. thats when i lost my Imei. fixed it. then just used my one x. til last week when i got another gs3.. its rooted and and stock right now. guess i just need to back up etc. before flashing just to be sure. etc..
So I guess this is just a problem we sometimes need to live with? Just back it up and restore as needed.

Oh, one more question. I'm on telus so the 747m. Can I flash d2att roms or do I need to use d2can?

Sounds like it. I have been flashing roms and since my first android, htc hero.. never had a bricked phone or anything etc.. before that win mobile, again never had any issues. as long as you read and pay attention all will be good. I want to flash a rom on this s3 but gotta find the time to back up and such. kinda hard with a wife that's a RN working 12 hour shifts and 3 kids lol..
Yea, same here. I've flashed so many roms and kernels on my old s3. Had no worries ever about changing the partition table sizes and am familiar with adb just haven't found the time to look into all of the s3 stuff yet. I've had the phone since launch but just rooted it for the first time a few days ago.

custom i.e not based on a samsung ROM. It's not common but more common going from custom (aosp, aokp,CM) to any TW type ROM. Just back it up anyway, even though you more than likely will never have to worry about loosing it.

Yes. You might need to flash a d2att recovery to avoid getting a status 7 error

You can check your build prop or just flash a ROM. It should work. Or flash that file anyway.

Better data speed with this

So I was on wicked ROM and was getting bad data speeds inside my home.
So I switched to INFAMOUS ROM and was getting a lot faster speeds.
So I compared their build files in system and I found that these settings from infamous was what giving me better speeds.
I went back to wicked and changed the data tweaks and was getting better speeds.
Of course some may vary.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Wicked has stated something along his ROM and data I think, may be wrong but he doesn't add those lines for what ever reason. Many do add them cause they believe they work.

Can't call or text

But data/ internet seems to work. Stays in data roaming most of the time. Was on swamp monster and stock. Sprint couldn't fix it either. All of a sudden it started doing this. I also have a second note2 with SwampMonster and that phone works great. Also have a s3 on wicked sensations that works great as well.
Any ideas?

That happen to my GF phone it's funny cause hers is in stock , But when she made phone call it sound like it was busy. The steps i did to fix it....
1.Update Profile and PRL
2.Change the setting into CDMA (Will Reboot)
3.Just Update PRL
4.Then Go too CDMA/LTE Setting
When it boot back up it should work fine.

Best advice would be to find one of the signal checker apps in the play store and see what signal strength you're getting. If it's weak you know the problem is with Sprint. If it's strong then you would need to look deeper into your phone/ROM/firmware etc.
