Getting New S3...So where to start? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

So where to start? I am getting new samsung galaxy s3 this Tuesday as my new phone. I do know how to root, change roms, etc. that I learn from my sony x10 (X10!! WHY YOU HAVE TO DIE ON ME??? :crying: ) As I am searching through the threads about samsung galaxy s3 and I found the link about the rooting. But, it look like it is lots of easier than I think. There is the link for the All in One Noobs Video: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728824 to see if it is the same thing like before. And I am wondering why I have to be very careful about not tripping flash counter which I am worrying about that too. So, the question is what is no tripping flash counter means and I heard that it is very bad when you trip the flash counter...
Also, I want to talk about the screen protecter and the phone case. The one I was looking for is that brand came from Spigen which it caught my eyes about phone case is so amazing on the site which I really want to get it. But, I look for more threads about the Spigen case that the people is having the problem is the volume button of the case is too tight, yet, I really don't get it and I still fall in love with that case...Any suggestions?
And the screen protecter from Spigen too..The Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen Protector Steinheil Flex HD Series...I did check out on the threads and the youtube about that and the protector look so amazing too if I am wrong. I starting to find out about their screen protector that they are getting some orange effects on their phone which I have no idea what is that or I can look for other screen protector from Spigen?...Any suggestions again?

I have the SGP Neo Hybrid - it does have the button issues, but you can gently shave off these little knobs on the buttons with a pocketknife and it works a lot better... But I'd wait like 2 weeks because they are redesigning the case so it doesn't have those issues (I'm getting a free replacement). As for the screen protectors - I'm currently using a SGP Ultra Nano screen shield- and it is awesome. SGP is a great brand and make quality products.

Thank again for the case issues. Yet, when they are going to release the new one with no button issues? Also, the screen protectors, are they same kind, well, I mean the look of the screen to make it lots of nicer?

Video Review: Otterbox Commuter Series Case For Galaxy S2!!!

Hey guys,
Super excited to bring you the full review of the Otterbox Commuter series case for the Galaxy S 2. This case met and exceeded my expectations, definitely recommended. It is super protective, clean and feels great in the hand. You can watch the full review below:
nice review mate (yet again) you are a good talker on camera do you do them off the cuff 1st time or is there much editing
about the case , i think i prefer the casemate tough . same sort of style case yet doesnt seem to have as much silicone exspsosed to attract dust and also seems to fit a bit tighter to the handset then the otterbox .
The top bit that wont lay flat would annoy me like it did you so thanks for pointing that out .
nice review mate keep them coming

Many thanks for the compliments. I usually make a mistake here and there but nothing major, if you look at some of my older videos you will see it's just a matter of keeping at it and practicing haha.
I've got a Tough for the HTC Sensation and I can relate to what you mean, the Tough seems to cover up more of the Silicone, however the only thing I'm not a big fan of is that the Tough leaves the bottom portion very flimsy.
Thanks again, more videos to come!
wow mate keep up the videos, love the content, thanks
I actually don't have the raised silicone at the top that you complained about. It may be because your phone is White and modded that its dimensions differ from the original galaxy s2

Someone commented stating that as well, it may be because I have an SGP Glas screen protector which adds some thickness.
I have the same issue, and it doesn't have a screen protector.
This case is perfect without the front silicon.

Thanks for letting me know that. I was starting to think it was my SGP Glas but now that you're experiencing it, perhaps some cases have their silicone a little more stretched than others.
FYI, some people were wondering if/when Otterbox would release their Defender series case; my contact said this:
Also, to the best of my knowledge, we will only be making a Commuter Series for the Galaxy S II, not a Defender Series as well. Sorry to disappoint. If that changes I will let you know.

Hi Ploone,
Awesome reviews you do here! Glad to see you like your Otterbox case as much as I do. One thing your review doesn't cover (it didn't really need to) is the included screen protector. Here is my short review of that:
The included protector appears to be there for the sake of being there. It isn't sticky, which is about the only pro I can think of. It is a fingerprint magnet. It's finish is one that not only do fingerprints look awful when the screen is off, but actually interfere with the colours of the screen when it is on, mostly when viewing lots of white. It is hard to tell if it is interfering with my touchscreen, I really do think that it has affected sensitivity just a bit, but that could be a placebo.
All in all, if you are cheap and anal (like me), you will find yourself using it because it was "free" with the case. I do want to look into getting an SGB Glas protector, but don't want to spend another $35 on that, and then get a 32gb class 10 microsd at another $70+ lol this phone is costing me too much money!!!
Or maybe I'll live with it as is

Hopefully Trident Cases makes one, they usually take their time to release a case (as they did with the Nexus S) but they are good quality and I've been pleased with their products.
Thanks for the nice review. IMHO the Case-Mate Box is probably better as the four corners of the SGS-2 are protected by the hardcase as well. The Otterbox seems to protected the corners only with the silicone parts.

Skinomi Skin Protector

Hey guys. My Nexus is on its way to me, will be here soon. I've been browsing the Galaxy Nexus forums, trying to get a hold of the scene before I actually get my device.
Besides ROMs and what not, the most important thing for me is to protect the device. Also, I wasn't sure if this should go here or in the Q&A forum - if I got it wrong, I apologize.
Anyway,
Has anyone used this? I'm not talking about the Carbon Fiber skin, I'm talking about their Clear Skin Protector.
I was thinking of getting this and pairing it with the Rearth Ringke SLIM case.
Anyone out there used the Skinomi or has had previous experience with them? Any thoughts on combining their Skin protector with the Ringke?
Not sure about that screen protector, but ~17 users have it on this forum so they should be able to help.
Get it from amazon if you do decide to buy it, it's much cheaper there.
Regarding the case, this thread may be of use to you (if you have not read it already for more info)
I applied a tech skin on Friday and have been really happy. It took about 12 or so hours for all the bubbles to go away but it looks really good now, the cutouts are the perfect size and it covers the entire face of the device. but I bought mine from amazon for like 3 bucks for mine, looks like they've gone back up to 7
either way I'm very happy, especially now that they went back up cause I got 2 at 3 bucks.
First of all, thanks!

Yup, I read the thread regarding the protectors and the thread regarding the case. I'm pretty sure about the case, however when it comes to the Skinomi I'm not talking about just their screen protector - their skin protector is something you put all over the phone, with cut outs to the battery etc. Basically, like their carbon fiber skin, but transparent. I also really want to buy it from Amazon, but for some reason its not up there.

Really good to know. However, while their screen protector should theoretically provide a proper idea, I'm looking specifically at their phone skin - that is, there are cut outs for the front and back. I also really want to buy it from Amazon but for some reason it's not there. Thanks!
I loooove this screen protector. Bought one on amazon to replace the crap that otter box shipped with the commuter. Definately worth every penny. Covers entire front and fits snugly in my case .

Some Pictures :]
The Skinomi front screen protector, assuming that it's the same one that comes with the Carbon one, is really nice so far. The only thing id recommend, is that you wrap the microfiber cloth around that squeegee before you scrape the bubbles out. That crappy piece of plastic they send, has sharp edges, and will scratch the heck out of your screen protector. Really, like a few hours after I put it on, it's hard to tell it's even on there.
I second the microfiber comment above.

Samsung Galaxy Discover: cases and screen protectors

I thought I'd share what I found for my most recent phone, a Samsung Galaxy Discover S730M. It's relatively new in Canada and it's budget status means there are no accessories to be found - and likely never will be!
I found a nice tpu case on eBay, by looking for "galaxy ace duos" cases. The fit and finish are really nice, and I plan to order a couple more colors soon.
It was under $10 with free shipping, and the screen protector that comes with it works...though there is a cutout for a face button the ace duos has but this phone does not.
I've tried a couple screen savers from eBay described specifically for the galaxy discover, one vituiki and another 6-pack of thin protectors both from the same supplier in Germany. Both protectors were difficult to install and a very poor fit, with at least 1mm hanging over each edge of the screen.
I finally ordered a 6-pack of screenies from china that look like they will do the job, I'll post results.
Can you post some links to the tpu case and china screen protectors please?
And this works too:
Because the phone seems to be samsung's mock of the iPhone 3G/3GS, if you cut down any screen protectors for it (using a straight cutter, or scissors if your hard core). Ive done it. The speaker hole is a bit low, but it works if you have some old ones you dont need anymore.
Please click thanks if you found this useful.

I just searched "meifeng ace duos" on ebay, this is one of the first items: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Soft-Silicone-TPU-Cover-Case-LCD-Guard-For-Samsung-Galaxy-Ace-Duos-S6802-MF-/290751893915?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43b229d19b
I was tempted to try one of the textured cases but it looks like the top and bottom edges are unprotected. What's the point?

in search of symbiotes!

So working for Samsung technical support I come across a lot of cool accessories from my coworkers.
One accessory I found saw recently that I thought was really cool was a screen protector membrane my coworker had on his galaxy s blaze that mends itself of scratches after being exposed to body heat in your pocket.
I didn't believe him at first so I made him show me and sure enough by the end of the day the screen was free of scratches!
I've been trying to find these bad boys everywhere and I was just wondering if anyone knows the brand name or at least product name for these and if they are available for the galaxy s 3.
Thanks for the help in advance!
Rubbery feel to the screen ? may just be a zagg or similar.. but if not im interested also ..
Not really a rubbery feel. The screen kinda looks like gloss finish glass with a slight wave in it.
Kinda looks like hammered metal but you can see through it just fine when phone screen is on like any other good screen protector.
Pretty sure not zagg I already checked those out.
I want one so bad lol

After some further research it sounds a lot like these http://store.griffintechnology.com/totalguard-self-healing-screen-protector-iphone
But doesn't really resemble the one my coworker has more does it fix itself by body heat but it does seem to repair scratches.
As close as I've gotten so far :/

Don't know which case + screen protector to order (my picks + questions)

So I'll be getting the Nexus 5 pretty soon and I want to order my case and my screen protector as soon as possilbe.
Im currently using a gs3 with an otterbox commuter + zagg invisibleshield HD. Never had problems with this combination although I don't care much for otterbox I think they're overrated and partially crap. Nevermind why, let's jump into the Nexus 5 stuff.
So as for the cases... I wanted to order one of the following but here's why I have doubts:
http://www.amazon.com/TEXTURE-Non-S...qid=1384020752&sr=8-3&keywords=spigen+nexus+5
All reviews on Amazon and Reddit say that this case will scratch the n5 when I'll take it off or put it on because it has sharp edges.
Not only this Spigen version but the same goes for the Ringke version.
So I don't really know wether to order it or not. If so, which one and why? Basically I love them both because I need a slim case.
My other choise was the Neo hybrid:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-Google...044&sr=1-1&keywords=spigen+nexus+5+neo+hybrid
I want it very much but I've read it adds a lot of bulkness to the phone. Also the volume and power buttons are not very easily accessible..
Is that true?
My screen protection choises:
the steinheil by Spigen:
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-Protec...sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=spigen+glass+tr+nexus+5
I have nothing bad to say about since everyone are ordering my other choise which is Glas.tR. I don't think I can buy the Glas.tR because I can't find anyone that ships to my country. So I decided to maybe go with the Steinheil protector. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys.
i use the neo hybrid spigen case and it rocks. really tight fit, it really is a quality case. i dont have a screen protector yet but honestly just get a cheap one theyre all pretty similar.

They are easy to press, but they are very loose and rattle more than the original buttons themselves.

Yeah the buttons are very easy to press. Lots of people don't like them but I really do. They feel snappy and responsive.
