hi,
i have an arc lt15i rooted, locked bootlaoder, with ics 4.0.4 . please can any one describe in easy and simple words , step by step, how to use it. I know there are many threads relating to this, but they are not helping, but creating confusion, as all the threads are mixed up. I t would be a great help, thanks in advance
Yep i agree with you, someone should make zip file that you could simply flash via CWM and change options with small apk...
Which 4.0.4 build you got?
And if you follow the topic in General section, you would understand how to do it.
If you do not understand it, you are not familiar enough with Android.
Well probably you are right, but i tried once to install it ant got so many drawbacks along the way, so i quit...

It doesn't give some kind of 200% performance boost... The app mainly changes the way apps are killed and when.

hello,
I left the X10 community few days ago & am currently settling here.
I just bought my new ARC S yesterday.and playing with it till now.its very sexy & cool.loving it so far.But i am a bit curious about the ICS update which was released for ARC S .Android version 4.0.4.
I would like to update to ICS.but am really afraid if something goes wrong.I just want some genuine opinion from people who have used ICS 4.0.4 on ARC S.
Is there any issues after the update?
I hear some networking issues ppl facing after update, is it true & also for ARC S ?
how is the performing speed & smoothness of the UI ?
any Issues relating to ICS update to 4.0.4 is welcome.
I am not referring to 4.0.3.
Thank U ... U R feedback's will be most helpful to me.....
First of all Welcome to the sexy Arc s world
Secondly, Wrong section...This is general section..questions goes in Q&A Section
Well 4.0.4 is really good...compared to buggy laggy 4.0.3..
It doesnt have any network issues if u flash right baseband
My advice to get smooth and lagfree performance is to root your phone..then remove all crappy bloatware..then supercharge your phone..
for best performance use custom kernel..and to flash custom kernel you need to unlock the bootloader..
How about you read the ICS discussion? It's a sticky right on this very thread!
I know you asked for the 4.0.4 part but you'll find it in that thread.
Give the whole thing a read. It's worth it. It should give you all what you asked plus a little extra.
Swyped from my SE Xperia arc (LT15i) using Tapatalk 2
4.0.4 is a lot better in comparison to the earlier release of 4.0.3
Better WiFi, improved battery backup, less lag. But it still contains the LED bug and the Dialpad lag.
The best thing that you could do is what Xtacy! suggested already. Read the ICS discussion thread. It should help a lot.
And BTW, wrong section

The LED doesn't notify upon receiving a text msg while the screen is off. It notify only once. But in GB it used to notify after certain interval so that we can understand that a msg was received.
Users were complaining about it also in SONY Forum.
Hi,
I've just bought a new galaxy W. I will recieve it in a couple of days but im worried i might have made the wrong choice . Sorry i dont like to be sad and share my sadness (specially as my first topic) but any help here? Will i be happy with what i've bought?
Also i am totally new to android and smart phones for that matter. Where can i get a good start (looking at some topics in the general room, i saw i dont even understand what the topic means!!!).
Thanks in advance
It depends much on your expectation.
For me, this device is pretty decent for the price. It has low-end device price, but it is not. Find some roms and your device might work well

First of all don't be afraid if you don't understand the terminology on the forum. This forum is mostly for developing and its advanced knowledge about Android and other OS. Wait until you get the phone because its not hard to handle android, search the Google Play and find tones of apps and games. You can try informing yourself about some basic stuff on google, but if you ask me it will come by itself. And you haven't made wrong choice if you have chosen android, the biggest retards learned to use android. If you need some help feel free to PM me. Cheers!
Hi sevenmad!
I bought my W last December, and until now I have *no* regrets. Not. the. slightest. bit.
But you *will* have to 'tweak' it:
* Root
* Install RZRecovery
* Install a good custom ROM
At the very least, root it! Then
install a CPU manager like SetCPU or CPU Tuner. Install SD-Booster to increase the cache size to 2MB. Install also TitaniumBackup to cull away useless, memory-hogging and battery-guzzling bloatwares. Finally, install a lightweight 3rd party launcher.

I absolutely agree.
You must not expect a Galaxy S3 performance though. It's a decent phone for the price and as expected it has it's flaws. You'll learn to love it though

Ehh, sorry to strike a slightly negative note, but, AFAIK, RzRecovery is really not best thing to do in Custom recovery field......I don't think it is even supported any more by it's developer......
Best to flash CWM from arco68, latest version ClockworkMod v6.0.1.0....it is CM 9 friendly, if you wanna try out ICS-flavour Sammy Wonder!!!
Also, no point in installing SetCPU or No Frills CPU, unless you have Overclock kernel....so search, there are quite a few each with pros and cons, depending on your requirements.
Also, have a look at this thread:
Lists of HOWTOs, ROMs, MODs, etc..
As a starting point for researching our device this is where to "jump off"...

SetCPU and/or CPU Tuner helps in capping the frequency, thus prolonging the battery life. It works wonders for me
Do we have any thread on ROM comparison for Wildfire S??
I tried searching in forums but seems like all threads are quite old and dont seem to have any latest info...
Any development forums are really confusing for some newbie like me...Its hard to decide what ROM should I use.
My usage is for daily use, I dont have any spare phone to try out different options :crying:

ROM Comparison
Best ROM I've tested so far: Wild Child 2 Lite Odex (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652973)
+ Full Root Access
+ 120 MB free Memory as promised
+ High battery duration (No useless apps, Nemus Launcher is one of the best in battery saving)
+ Stable, fast and fully functionable (as far as I tried)
Worst ROM I've tested so far: MIUI v.4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735773)
- Battery lasts for < 6 hours without WIFI or phone calls
- No Root Access although pronounced
+ Stable, fast and fully functionable (as far as I tried) - and looks nice!
Other software I would suggest:
# Droid Wall (Great Firewall, highly customable, needs almost no resources)
# Root App Delete (Get rid of useless system apps)

That's why I wrote "worst rom I'VE TESTED SO FAR", I truly believe there are far worse solutions out there...
I just wanted to post it because a cool-looking design can't replace a good battery and memory management. That's the wrong way if you ask me...
Get a stock rom. Flash recovery.Flash OC kernel. Flash Beats. Flash Super SU get some bussybox instaler app from market, install busybox. There you go stock rom with oc and root and all you need to do is learn how to use google and to flash zips. Best rom worst rom its all bull**** every package that is in the moded roms can be found in this forum. So ppl stop asking for things, do them yourself. Its not a brain surgery its zip flashing.
Flashing zips is NOT rocket science
I'm with Baluuu on this, Now I've graduated I'll have some time to play with my 2 WFSs. one's stock the other's running WildChild3. I want to learn how to make my own ROMs. I'm not afraid of compiling from source in Linux, but I want to understand the architecture of a ROM in more detail, and it seems that the best way is to get my hands dirty.

The marvellous sense 3.5 rom, overclockable to 815 mhz, you can choose between viper4android (recommended, i am using it ) and beats audio, gps working great thanks to the choosable gps configuration. It is the same as sense 2.1 (stock 2.3.5) but more functions and more widgets, and way more fast. Nice battery life. Hope this helped you

Everything prohibited by above linked forum rules.

Device comparison threads (see above)

I want to ask, if you could not make a rom (GB) that does not include any feature of cell .. I mean ... applications that do not bring:
messages
calls,
Internet browsers,
Make it Super debloated ..
optimized only for games ..
In itself, that will leave only the extra essential, such as: Google Play, 3G Connectivity, & Image Gallery ..
And so combine this rom kernel to the future cast end by (DiKeJ) and get maximum performance and give our device as a console exclusive use .. (as there are many users - (like me) who have two phones .. in my case a Samsung Galaxy S3, which I use as a phone .. and also a Xperia Play .. which that as console) and I would not mind neglecting these features to increase performance and autonomy of the battery ..
Thanks in advance to all ..

Just search it and it will come up. It is a little old but that doesn't matter as it works great and fits what your looking for. If you want s newer Rom all kg then have phone service as that's what makes the play better then something like a psp it's a phone and gaming device in one so you only carry one device.

As abdel said, nxt gamer 1.2 is a very good choise
Or if you want an updated rom try xElite gamer by PizzaDox, as he's a master when it comes to performance
And lol I'm no developer calling me "developer" would be an insult for those who really develop something (wedgess, CosmiDan, PizzaDox and so many others)
I just mod and improve what I can, so you could call me a "beginner modder"
I would love to work with some other Devs to produce this kinda rom, but tbh I think we should wait till my own xElite Gamer becomes more mature and also wait for DX Perennial,
Removing SemcPhone.apk/Phone functionality will remove 3G connectivity.
At the very least, that will need to remain in the ROM.
Either that, or I misunderstood what your post asked.
Do you want phone capabilities to remain in the ROM, such as MMS, Calls, Texts, 3G... Or do you want them removing? Minus the 3G?
If so - Why would you need the Image browser? Especially if you intend to use a Kernel that has no camera capabilities in order to free as much RAM as possible.
Let me know what you want exactly and I can cut down AuroraPlayLE to whatever level you want... However, like others have said - There are ROMs available already that offer these things to some extent.

Thanks for your attention @ Spizzy_01!! : D
What I would like to, is a console-style rom thought!
No phone functionality ..
I mean .. taking away all phone functions that consume ram, battery & performance .. and leave just enough to play .. (Android Games & Emulator) (and most optimized possible)
With so rom and kernel to the future end (DiKeJ) and GPU overclock patch (2D & 3D Core) We can reach a maximum in our Xplay rendmiento! (It's what I think)
This would be a rom designed for extreme gamers .. and which have 2 devices .. one to play .. and another to communicate and others ..
yekasangredevago, firstly, thanks for mention me - it's good to be respected and I really appreciate that . About some hardcore gaming ROM.....Well....Hell yeah it's coming in my projects, my suggestions is just follow my DiXperia Projects thread in General section of Xperia Play, and follow DX3 dev/discussion thread to see some screenshots etc. of new projects - I hope you've heard about DiXperia Perennial, which is coming soon, and will be ROM for magnificent gaming, just like making device as a console ;]. Unfortunately, this projects needs Premium Account to get it, and more info about this you can find on my DiXperia World website, or just by searching it in my threads over whole XDA. I know it could be like a corruption, but the same situation happening for a long time on X10 section, when tons of ROMs are relasing time by time for all users, and some "special" with higher priority for some use are relased for Premium Users. Searching is your friend, I'm sure you'll find it, if not - contact me .
Cheers, and thanks once again!

Hi guys !
I have two cellphone , 1 LT26i and 1 LT18 (ARC S) , on my arc s have I installed this rom

Which is very smooth and nice , it was first time that I could see a few option before installing rom there I could choose things I want or didn't want on my cellphone.
Do you know any rom similar for LT26.
My former cell was ZTE Blade and here on XDA developer other guys have a nice thread like "ALL ROMS" or something like that and it's not just name of rom , it's like a short description about that rom too, but I haven't seen anything like that for other phones, or may I'm wrong ?
Thank you
