I was wondering this the other day... I feel like with some ROM's versus others, compared to completely STOCK, I feel like stock will send/receive texts better in my experience... and I wonder if this is just a placebo effect or if there is something that would make the texts get all weird on one rom versus another.
I know APN settings and stuff could effect this, but I am talking ROM's that don't touch APN, like Diet ICS or something else based off stock.
Am I just experiencing placebo or is it actually something that could be happening?

hey guys.
i moved on to cm6 final last friday and i'm enjoying the rom.
however, there are a couple of things that are bothering me.
1) the images are way oversaturated. both in the contacts and in the gallery. the color needs to be toned down...is there a way to do that?
2) the thumbnails are HORRIBLE. i like my nice screen and when i call people have their picture show up nicely. in sense the picture would be clear and much bigger. here the picture is tiny and looks like the image was scaled down incorrectly - very jagged and ugly........is there a way to fix this?
3) is there a more sense-like dialer? i dont like the look of this one, yet i prefer it over Dialer One...i really liked the htc dialer
4) im not adjusting well to the vanilla lockscreen. is there an alternative lockscreen? i'm specially interested in a froyo-like clear lockscreen if possible.
any CM6 mods, apps or tricks i should know since i'm coming on to the game so late?
thanks!
Have you tried any sense roms with an AOSP look?

Really can't bring "sense" into CM6 ... however you can bring some aosp touches to "sense". There are several roms that might be what you're looking for, or you can add some of the apk's yourself for a more custom look.
1) Get the nightly. Has an improved camera.
2) Dunno about this, but opening a ticket in the issue tracker might get some answers.
3) Dialer One is the only thing I've found, which has worked quite well for me.
4) "Froyo-like"? You mean, Sense Froyo? Because this is 100% AOSP right here; it is the Froyo lockscreen... Sooo, dunno what you're looking for here. :/
For tricks, try out the Snap 7.6BFS kernel and play with SetCPU a bit. Might notice your battery life go significantly up.

i wanted to try the full aosp experience. and i like it. i just wish a couple of things could be changed. i dont understand why non-sense apps have to look so non-sense, if you get what i mean.

didnt get to. i have bugless beast on the phone when i bought it (used), then moved on to ava v7 i think, then omj v3.1 for a long time, then quickly ava v9 and that convinced me to take the plunge to cm6...and the way its running and the way i have it looking i think it fits me well.

I totally understand ... but aosp isn't for everyone. For me, it has a clean, basic, no frills look ... which I like. I actually prefer the aosp dialer, and especially the aosp browser. It's just that there are some non-negotiables, and one of them is the dialer. Sounds like you prefer the "Sense" look, so do a nand backup of CM6 and give a couple of the hybrids a try. TJohnson makes a particularly good one, along with Virus "Airbourne", and VaelPak. Whenever I need a "Sense" based rom, I use MikFroyo, which I have customized with aosp browser, music, launcher pro and a few other apps. Amikam is a very creative guy graphically.
edit: almost forgot, Frost rom by Barnacles ... also, quite good.
There are some things from Sense that I find myself missing. I am hoping that the masses can assist in getting my tweaking right. The reason I am really excited about it is the speed. It seems leaps and bounds faster than any Sense rom I have run.
I am currently running version v.0.12.11.1.
City ID: I assume this is what gives me the City and State info when a call comes through.
LauncherPro. I can't deal with the way MIUI does the home screens, and Launcher Pro seems to fit the bill for the most part.
Weather: I am totally in love with the weather widget in the clock on sense, how it gives you the weather effects over your home screen. Is there a way to get this without the clock? I am going for a clean home screen but would like that weather.
Facebook contacts:Whenever I tell facebook to connect with my contacts, and only with ones already in my phone book, it still adds people. I want it to import only with contacts already in my list. Is there a way to get this to work right?
The other MIUI features I guess are not a huge deal to me. The lock screen is pretty awesome, it comes with the FM radio app for my incredible which is great. I really hate not having the app drawer. Overall the speed is what got me.
Is there a fast sense rom out there I should use instead? I assume I could mod things like the dialer and lock screen if I wanted right?
Any opinions and suggestions are appreciated and welcomed. I just can't sit still on a rom!
Redemption 2.3 is a VERY nice Sense ROM

I have used it before, but it just seems sluggish compared to something like MIUI. Could this be true?
Forgive the noobish questions, but are there different kernels you can run with a rom for more speed?
I believe MIUI is somewhat of an AOSP based ROM (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and Sense based ROMs will always feel slightly slower than those.
HeyItsLou has a few kernels that he made that work well with his ROMs try 'em out
I used CM6 & CM7 for years right when I rooted my phone(s). I then switched to Deck's GB. While using AOSP ROMS on my EVO4G, I would experience random reboots and force closes often. Also, my 3G/4G speeds and signals were slow and poor. The same for phone signals. Also, battery life was good, but not great. But, performance is great!
I recently started to try out the Sense 3.0 ports and other Sense ROMS. While using these ROMS, I never once experienced random reboots, and very minimal force closes. My 3G/4G data speeds are faster and the signals are stronger. Phone signal is great as well! Battery life seems better as well. HOWEVER, Sense UI drags the phone down. Performance is poor, even when I am using LauncherPro+.
My conflict is this: I think Sense UI is ugly! I don't like the icons, the keyboard, the apps, etc. I know there are 3rd part keyboards and music apps, but I love the stock AOSP keyboard and music app. There are some Sense system settings that I love, and some AOSP system settings as well. It sucks not being able to have them all in one ROM. Maybe I need to learn how to cook ROMS ...
Anyway, I am looking for a ROM that combines AOSP and Sense. I want the look and feel of AOSP, but the stability of Sense as far as FC's/Reboots, phone signal and data goes. I use LauncherPro+, so the stock launchers for both types of ROMS is no concern to me.
Maybe the solution is to get a Sense ROM and theme it, or find mods??? But I am not sure where to find a good mix. I have tried but always end up loading the wrong mod with the ROM.
Is it a matter of finding the correct Kernel or radios?
I need help.
Thanks.

I love the AOSP look and feel, however, I do feel that Sense ROMS are better built as far as radios and phone goes. When I use a Sense based ROM, my 3G/4G signal and speeds are faster, I get more phone signal coverage, and it seems to do better battery wise. I think Sense UI is ugly though, and it slows down my phone's performance, even when I use LauncherPro+. I also always experience force closes and random reboots with every AOSP ROM I try. I never get random reboots and have very minimal FC's with Sense ROMS.

I do want to say that if you're getting random FCs you need to fix permissions.
That will very likely eliminate the those issues.

Do you have any more knowledge to share that will help me?
I would love to stick with an AOSP ROM (CM7 or Deck) if my 3G/4G speeds and signals were strong, and the battery life was better. Are there specific kernels and radio combos to help with this?
I will look into the fix permissions thing as well.
Thanks.
here is a cut down sense ROM that works very well with a different launcher.

I do what's in my signature because I like to have everything I like ready to go without having to wipe and restore.
I have an issue with a rom I'm using on my GSM Galixy Nexus, and was wondering if anyone could suggest a possible way to tweak it or if I need another rom, which one you'd recomend. I'm currently using a pretty much stock looking rom, Bugless Beast Nightly 2/12/2012 IML74K based on Android 4.0.3 The battery life is good but most importantly, the text resiszes to fit the page on the browser and you can pinch to zoom in on things. But unfortuantely, everything on the screen looks a lot blander and not very HD-like as the stock rom appeared. the colors on the stock rom that I started with were very crisp and sharp, really eye popping if I do say so myself. I don't think brightness is the issue either cause it's at it's brightest during the once beautiful bootup animation. Would changing the rom's kernel to something else fix this or do I just need to try a different rom? And if so, which one would provide me the same web surfing capabilities as this one? Using the GSM Galixy Nexus. I'd greatly appreciate whatver you're willing to tell here about this, cause as much as I want a custom rom to be good on battery life and functional, I'd also love not to ahve to sacrifice the greatness of ths AMOLED screen.
You can try this.
Seriously no idea which one to choose, is there JB ROM but not stock, I like the camera and Motions, pop up screen etc. Deleting Touchwiz erases all of them, also No idea which one is stable, they all claim it
BAN!!!!!
I don't understand, do you want a touchwiz jb rom or not? If you want tw, i tried frostyjb rom and it seem fully functional. I only used it a few hours because people were saying it had bad battery life. If you don't want tw, id suggest trying either aokp or cm10

Really depends on what you want. I have found WickedV5 works best for me. It isn't based on JB which I have found not to be as stable but it does have Google Now.
Alot of it depend on your own personal preference and even your own individual device.
I personally go with AOSP ROMs. I get 4+ hours of screen on time with those
