Stock Android Recovery - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Where can I find the stock recovery for the T-Mobile SGS3? I have a complete stock, rooted SGS3 with the Team Winn Touch Recovery downloaded from GooManager. I just received the OTA update and wanty to download it. I want to use the triangle away app, flash the Stock Android Recovery and then use the Super User App to UnRoot the phone. I think this will allow me to download the OTA update and then I can just root the phone again and flash the recovery from GooManager.
Where can I find that Stock Android Recovery???
Thanks,
Vinny

Here you go. This is the most recent version from the latest UVALH2 update. It should work fine with any ROM.

thanks

Do you flash recovery through Odin or CWM/Twrp?

[Q] Would rooting with Odin prevent OTA updates?

Hey, I was wondering if only rooting my phone ( I still have the stock rom ) would prevent my phone from receiving OTA updates? My wife and I bought our phones at the same time, mine was even activated first, and her OTA update, which includes the wifi calling, came tonight, and I haven't seen mine.
So I was just curious if it is still going to come eventually, or if I need to just flash the updated version of the stock rom? Thanks
You will get the update regardless of what rom or recovery or rooted or unrooted.
Now in order to install it ota you need stock rom and stock recovery though. If you rooted and installed cwm recovery then you need to flash stock recovery.
If your rooted. On stock rom. And stock recovery(like I was) then no worries just install away.

How to get back stock recovery to update OTA to official ICS?

I am running stock EL29 gingerbread ROM with CWM recovery 5.0.2.7 by team Rogue. Just trying to get stock recovery back to update OTA to new official ICS release. If there is an easier way using CWM recovery from stock 2.3 then I am willing to give that a shot as well. If any ROM developers have put out a custom ROM close to stock ICS let me know as well. I'm gonna try to survive the OTA update after I get my stock recovery back but if not what is the word on rooting the official ICS release? Will mobile Odin work or do I need to use Windows 7? Thanks allot for any help I really appreciate it.

I too would like to know.

If you want you should be able to apply the OTA .zip from CWM - but you will lose root and cannot run any restores unless you go back to GB first.
As for root it may take a little bit. If I understand the process correctly OTA has to have root applied where it will stick when flashed, clean the phone to stock EL29, flash the OTA, repack the phone contents and tar it up so that you can flash by ODIN. It also is unknown how different (if at all) the OTA is from the previously leaked FF18. So far the modem appears to match but that's as far as I got.
Once it gets to .tar format you should be able to do all but the modem by Mobile Odin.
I used Sfhub's Auto Root Package and clicked the stock EL29 option instead of the EL29 + CWM rogue option that I had used to get CWM. Super fast, super easy, and got rid of CWM for me.

Thanks I flashed back to stock using the same thing and got stock recovery back. Then applied OTA update then rooted again now just have to flash CWM recovery once again.

BTW I posted a modifed FF18 OTA which can be run directly from EL29+CWM.
There are 2 versions (both rooted), one with FF18+CWM-agat-src and another with stock kernel/recovery

That's a helpful tool to have thanks would have been a little better a few days ago but hey I'm not complaining still may have a use for it yet. All the help is appreciated that's why i love XDA.

Can't update OTA my rooted AT&T S3

I know this is a nook question but could the fact that I am rooted with clockwork mod recovery be preventing my update?
I download the OTA update and reboot recovery and start the update then it says something about could not update do to signature or something like that.

Because you are rooted it wont wont. It requires the stock samsung recovery to apply that update OTA. So either you put the stock samsung recovery and then apply that OTA update, or you download the CWM flashable version of that update thats available in the other forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896773
Im assuming you mean the AT&T LH9 update
Dixit
Actually, root has nothing to do with it. Its all about the stock recovery.
Right but most of these folks who are rooted will have done so by flashing CWM and then injecting the root zip or flashing a rooted rom. But yes it doesnt have anything to do with the root itself, it fails because the recovery isnt the stock recovery.
Best option for him would be to use the CWM flashable one I linked.
How cod I flash back the stock recovery and will I lose root if I do?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
If you apply the OTA update via the stock recovery then yes you will lose root. There is a thread that has the stock recovery image file you could flash back. But again, if the LH9 is the update you looking for, then why not just use the CWM flashable ZIP on the thread I linked earlier? You are not giving much specifics if that is the update you are attempting to apply.
Dixit
I'm not sure which update it is I just know I was prompted to download an OTA update and it failed. I have not had the time I used to with my s1 to keep up to date with all that's going on with rooms and stock updates and what not. By the way what is the most stable roms out there right now? I would like to try a jelly bean Rom if they have any, also don't want to lose any features of stock.

Rerooting after JB install?

I didn't find anything in search, so here goes.
Anyone tell me how to get root after manually updating to JB? Would I have to re-install CWM via Odin again?
The rooting process is the same for jb.
If you updated manually out is possible that you still have root but may have lost your custom recovery. The newer builds (lg8 and later) have code that replaces the stock recovery of the signature does not match.
If that has happened your best bet is to flash cwm using Odin again but you must also disable the code that replaces the recovery. Do a Google search for Team Epic Root From Recovery for the process.
You need to flash the recovery with Odin and then get into recovery before you not the Rom so that you can then flash the Team Epic Root From Recovery file.

If you got it today most likely it does NOT have the newest firmware.
Check the BASEBAND in your phone and check if it ends with a MDB or a MDL.
If it ends with MDL then you have the latest Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware.
There is no Odin flashable pre-rooted MDL firmware available yet.
The easiest way to gain root access is to first install Goomanager
which is a free app from the playstore.
After you install Goomanager click the menu button and select "installopenrecoveryscript" and
when it gets done doing that you will see in goomanager an option to reboot into recovery (Twrp custom touch recovery)
But unless you have Odin flashed the latest MDL firmware I suggest you do not install Goomanger yet.
If you do it prior to Odin flashing the latest MDL firmware you will just have to install goomanger again.
Once you have odin flashed the stock mdl rom and you have installed goomanager and flashed the
openrecoveryscript in goodmanager download a custom cwm/twrp flashable zip file rom and copy it
to your internal sdcard then flash it in twrp recovery, once it's flashed you will be automatically rooted.
The best custom rom available at the present time is Wicked v3, it's a Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 MDL based rom.
So the first thing to do is to Odin flash the latest MDL stock firmware.
Be sure to go into recovery and do a full wipe including factory reset, wipe system, wipe cache and dalvik cache
before Odin flash of the stock firmware.
Here is the link just in case you want to Odin flash the stock MDL Tmobile Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware: http://k0nane.info/rom/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip

You are RIGHT, I almost forgot.. (I did forget)
You need to flash the Odin flashable TAR file "TWRP" first, then after
the custom rom is flashed is when you should install goomanager
and then the custom rom.
Good luck with it.
