I get random unexpected unmounting of the sdcard on every ROM.. I really don't feel like seeing if formatting the sdcard will fix it but any ideas..?

This happened to my wife's phone it turned out to be a hardware issue. Go back to stock to confirm that it still isn't working. If you have TEP then you will get a replacement.

I'm running SRF 1.1.0 and my SD card becomes unmounted randomly throughout the day. I restart my phone and it comes back, but again it will come unmounted after an undetermined amount of time. Is my SD card going bad or is it the rom?

Havnt had this problem but you may want to try and backup your SD card than reformat it than copying your backup back on to the SD card. Sometimes reformatting it fixies SD issues. Just a thought. Worth a try may fix your issues.

Definitely will do that when I get a reliable computer again. Desktop has a fried power supply and my laptop's HDD is failing. Hopefully maybe someone from ACS will take a quick peek and throw an opinion around

This isn't the ROM, it's a loose physical connector.
Thanks k0nane, I figured it might be something like that. Any way of going about fixing it? Or do I need to flash stock and bring it to the store?

For now, eject the card and firmly insert it. If it continues, yes, you need to exchange it.
Why do most roms OP state to "fix permissions" directly after flashing the rom, when that does nothing... it fixes them in .3 seconds? lol.... pretty sure it's best to do it after setting the phone up the way you want. Where it takes a couple minutes and actually gives you a log of what is fixed. Just curious if I'm wrong in thinking all this jazz.

I had no idea either. But this cleared it up for me.

Probably just because it can't hurt to do one, that and if an issue arises they can be certain that it was done.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Ive wondered it myself. Never do it though. To me its there for when you run into problems with FCs and such. I assume its the devs trying to be proactive for those who dirty flash.
Ive seen it screw things up to btw.

I know what Fixing Permissions does, just why they tell their users to fix them before anything can be broken, is where my curiosity begins, if I remember right even after a dirty flash they don't wont be fixed til after a reboot...
my way of doing things
wipe data/system/cache
flash rom
boot up>let sit for 5 minutes>install through TB or recover data
boot into recovery and fix permissions, which takes a couple minutes, if I have errors.
Congratulations, no one cares.

only fix permissions if you have issues of force closes or log cats are showing files as unreadable... basically if you are having issues of some sort.
also, good idea to fix permissions from terminal while booted into android if you are using a recovery that has not been updated in a long time

Oh, I know how to run and use fix permissions. I'm just curious as to why some rom cooks give instructions that are useless.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
That's a valid question.
I think it's an instruction for crack flashers.
It levels everything out.
Especially, if you are trying to keep your data

I noticed that I barely have any screen wake lag, but when my sd card is in the phone, I have noticeable screen wake lag. Every time I take my sd card out to test my theory, the lag is gone.
Can anyone else reproduce this?

Sounds like some corrupt data somewhere. If it were me, I'd do a clean wipe and reflash.
wipe data, partition cache and dalvik cache. flash the stock rom.
Ok will do . Lets hope its not a defective phone

I had a similar issue with one of my phones.. It ended up being a defective phone, and this was after it was rooted.. My wife's phone also rooted never had a issue.. If you feel it is defective after trying the above, flash back to full stock, and return it. Tell Sprint you are invoking your Samsung Warranty.. Sprint will always try to get you to use your insurance, which is bullpoop..
Phone is outside the return period so either it gets replaced by samsung or Sprint

If you have a SD Card - you might want to remove it to see if that helps as well. borked sd cards can cause the phone to act rather weird. I hope its just a simple fix.

Thats true. I've seen that happen several times
Try just reformatting your sdcard if you have one: back it up to your computer, format your sd, then restore all your files

So this is exactly what I did before the problem started happening. I was on version 7/15 and I went to the recovery and flashed the 6/10 version and cleared dalvik and cache and then fix permissions. When I booted up, it acted normal for a few seconds and then it started happening. It would start freezing and then get that and shut off. I flashed 7/15 again and the problem still occurred. I cleared ktweaker data too...
Please help, I didn't backup my room (it's on my pc and I'm on vacation) I'm using my brothers phone.
I had to wipe everything and start over. Flashing ROM and everything.

I would return it to full stock and take it to a T-Mobile store or call T-Mobile from where you are so that when you get home you will be able to return it right away

It's not the phone. It's ROM and kernel related.

I think it sounds exactly like what was happening to me. I will try to do what you did and remove my SD card next time it happens. I only seem to get that issue when im updating the kernel on Touchwiz ROMS, and on first boot it works ok for like 5 minutes and then the crazy lag, freezing then reboot loops start. From there every boot gets the freezing and lag within a minute of booting up and its either completely freezing up or rebooting itself over and over. The only way i figured i could get over it was doing a full wipe and re install my ROM and everything all over again on a clean install if i wanted to update the kernel. Definately going to try pulling the SD Card and see if that solves my issues next time it happens.

Did you debloat at all? Like delete system apps? I feel there are system level apps that i deleted and the ROM is trying to utilize them but it can't so it reboots. Cause if you look at the last_kmsg there aren't any kernel panics in it.

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me! When my phone would freeze, it would get extremely hot and just stay on the screen/or the screen would turn off and I couldn't turn it back on
Not sure what the SD card has to do with anything but I removed it before I booted back up! If it happens again to you, then good luck I hope it fixes it!

I even disabled ktweaker last night and cleared the data to see if it would work and it didn't, so I'm not exactly sure what made it reboot
