Newbie needs help !! - HTC Wildfire S

I am using a stock HTC Wildfire S,which is pretty slow for me,having used a HP VEER 4G before.i do not use facebook app or twitter app,or any other stock app.Do not have any widgets on my home screen, like my phone clean, simple and fast.Just use it for messaging (whatsapp),a few games (angry birds lags,a lot, really need temple run),and the camera.A friend told me that if i flash my phone and install custom ROMs,i will be able to get rid of the stock apps, and overclock the phone, which will make it faster.
I do not know how to flash or install a ROM.Help needed.A detailed tutorial will be very helpfull
Any advice on ROMs according to my needs is really needed

Then find the "root.zip" file on the list.
Select "YES".
Let the script do its thing till you see "Install from sd card completed".

which you more want but wildchild is more stable cuz it's based on stock ROM
yes, they both overclocked
No, it won't. But you need to know your phone max freq so you need just try it at max freq which is 806 Mhz at both ROM if it unstable take 787 Mhz if still unstable take lower and do this till your device will work stable my works fine at 806 Mhz.

What about battery life ??
will i be able to remove preloaded apps in wildchild ??

You can remove apps from zipped from folder. I'm writing from phone now so I can't say where they are. There is some battery life tweaks in wildchild ROM you can use CPU frequency and governor which are special for it. (There is said in ROM thread about it). And you can type in your phone dialer *#*#4636#*#* then will appear debug menu, then click phone information and in bottom choose GSM only (PRL) instead WCDMA preferred. This will allow you to use 3g for internet connection.

What would you guys like to see in the next auto installer?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
Well, as I already told, 1 autoinstaller to revert to stock recovery. I jusrt wrote a tutorial how to unlock bootloader and how to lock it again. So we have a "way-back-to-warranty-chain"
CWM autoinstaller is nice enough, I think. Afterwards ROMs can be easily installed, system can be backed up etc.
So, maybe you could make a perm root auto installer. Supertoolv3 does it's job, but why not having the phone rooted and cwm installed in 1 step?
does it work with another type, lets say Salsa ? I just wonder ..

I am also thinking of adding a rom downloader and installer but the only way I can do that is by asking for donations to have a domain with unlimited storage online 24/7 if users are up for donating to help towards the hosting costs I can have it all ready by tonight I see it as a way to cut out the middle man and waiting times on file sharing sites. So let me no what you think so I can sign up to a unlimited hosting service and make a PayPal account also it will buy be a beer while things upload for you Guy's

[Q] Desire hd 2.3.5

My desire hd is 2.3.5, Sense 3.0
I have done nothing about root/ s-off. It's like a new phone.
i want to upgrade to android 4.0+.
What should i do?? (i guess root and s-off, but not sure)i searched in xda and Google, but still no idea.
Can anyone can help? Hope u can give me the link as well.
Hi.
YOU NEED 100% Battery for this!
Fist off you will need to download AAHK (Advance Ace Hack Kit) http://tau.shadowchild.nl/aahk
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER I can not stress that enough. This WILL wipe your phone so if you want to keep SMS's use this download http://tinyurl.com/csl5qx7 (linked to play store)
Do the SMS Backup first if you want to. Then do the AAHK. This will downgrade your phone (wiping) and then root it for you with one button (Easy Right?!)
Now, you need to turn your phone off compleatly, so take the battery out and back in again. Then you need to press the power button and the volume down at the same time. This will take you to the Bootloader screen, There should be some little android guys at the bottom of a white screen. Now you need to navigate using the volume rocker to something called recovery screen and press the power button to select it. In there you will need to find the backup and restore menu using the volume rocker to navigate again. And then you need to make a backup of your current ROM. This WILL take a while.
while that is happening you need to find a ROM. Its personal preference really but one that I use that is JellyBean is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778202 (JellyTime) Very good ROM. Store that somewhere one your computer where it is easy to find.
When the backup is complete reboot your phone by the option in recovery.
You now need to transfer your ROM's zip file over to the phones SD card and rename it update. With the JB ROM you will also need to transfer the Gapps zip that should be on the same page as the ROM that I linked. When that has done then you need to reboot and go back into the recovery screen the same way as before.
When in recovery, you need to "wipe Data/Factory reset" and then just to be on the safe side "wipe cache partition" you then need to find the "apply update from SD card option and select it. This will now update to the JB ROM. When that has done navigate to the "install zip from SD card" option and install the Gapps zip. When that has done reboot and enjoy your shiny new ROM!
Enjoy!

You can use the guide in my signature to learn the basics, if you are not used to it. The rest is reading the manual and the Hack Kit site...:good:
If you need a backup of your current rom, you can unlock the bootloader, flash recovery, make a backup, relock and run the hack kit.
Thank you all.
But there is still problem there.:crying:

Is the driver installing succesfully? after installing and plugging the phone, you will see the device manager install the driver and will prompt "device is ready to be used".
If that is happening, then make sure that you are using the oem cable and that the usb port is 2.0 and not 3.0. Use a different usb port...that is merely a connectivity issue. Have you checked connectivity per le effen manual?

I will test it. Did you just run the recovery builder with the recovery.img, or with the 3 other files as well.

Thats the test build. Works to select up and down in the menu but not select an actual process.
This is after. Phone still works after a battery pull!!

Oh god ive been hacking and deving a new phone the past 3 days. Ill look for those files again and tell you where I found them. I can post a dropbox link if you need access?
The postrecoveryboot.sh I believe has something to do with rebooting "post" recovery maybe it will fix the wifi off upon reboot issue?
The fstabs file I dont even have a stab at.. sorry robotic buddy.
So have you gotten cwm developed to the point where we can select options yet?

working CWM
Hi,
I was able to install the CWM recovery of Y201 from the below forum on the Fusion 2 using the fastboot flashing recovery steps for Fusion2. ":/fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" with the Y201 recovery file saved in the same folder.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35908322
even tho the Y201 recovery is little slower on the Fusion2, I was able to backup the rom, install new custom roms of Y200 and restore the original carrier rom.
The y200 roms I installed and successfully booted into fusion 2 were:
1) CleanBaseRom#5.zip (same as carrier rom with out most of att junk)
2)ICS_OS_20130203.zip (same as carrier rom with ICS theme, had problem with gallery and screen would not turn on from sleep)
Didnt see much difference so restored the carrier rom back.
Hopefully this helps

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 & One V

Hello Frnz,
I just want know if cyanogenmod 10 is suitable for One V or not?
I've been to cyanogenmod’s official website n they say it does not support however, many ppl claim to otherwise.
Help would b much appreciated
Yes it is supported and highly customisable and great for one v.
your wrong! it isnt officially support by CM, but that doesnt matter at all. its running great for the One V and i recommend it alot.
I meant its dev support is great.not official support.
Sorry for the misunderstanding

I've had good experiences with cyanogenmod 10.1 so far. PACman up to 19.3 works well but without bluetooth, I can't get anything after that to work. I haven't tried anything else for the one v

U have Root or have to root?
If want to install any custom ROM just unlock bootloader and flash recovery through PC adb
For easy..
Just go through HTC one v all in tool kit, found in general or development section

I can't believe I am asking a question as stupid as this, but I'll ask it anyway ...
... where do I download CM10 for a HTC One V? I find the CM website, and can see that the One V is not an officially supported device, but which version of the CM10 software do I need to download?
Sorry to be so slow. I know it's a thick question and I must be missing something somewhere.
Oli.
Here's the download link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996761 (this is for gsm)
Fantastic - thanks very much!
I've downloaded it and installed it, and now the 'phone is in a boot-loop. I'm not quite sure what to do about it, but am sure that this isn't the right thread for it!
Thanks for your help. Off to try and find the answer ...
Oli.
You need to flash hellboy kernel, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954967 download the latest for cm10 and flash it
Great, thanks again. Of course, the 'phone won't boot so I can't connect it to a PC to download the kernel to the micro SD card ... good thing I have an adaptor and an SD slot in my lappie, eh!
CWM will load a ZIP from the memory card, but the kernel isn't a zip - it's an img file. Do I replace the boot.img in the zip for CM10 that I am using, replacing the existing boot.img file in there, and then move that (modified) zip to the memory card?
Oli.
No u need to use fastboot. Remember how you rooted the phone? Same thing. Put the file.img in your fastboot folder on pc, on the phone, hold power for 10 seconds, it will turn off. Then hold vol down and power, after some seconds release power but keep holding vol down. It will get to hboot. Connect to pc with cable and on the phone click fastboot, it should say fastboot usb. On the pc, open cmd, locate your fastboot folder and type fastboot flash boot nameofkernel.img, wait for it to finish and reboot the phone. It will take some minutes but then it will boot normally
Thanks, I'm just trying that and it's rebooting as I type. (Hope it's not in another boot loop!)
Out of curiosity, why can't you simply swap the *.img files within the ROM zip? (I tried this and it doesn't work.)
Oli.
OR
Y can try the all in one Toolkit where u can flash Kernel in one go!
EASY AS [email protected]! :fingers-crossed:
Thanks. I came across the all-in-one toolkit after I had unlocked the bootloader and rooted the 'phone, so assumed I had no use for it from that stage on. Perhaps I need to have another look at it.
How long should the 'phone remain at the boot screen when booting CyanogenMod for the first time? It's still there (concentric cyan coloured rings, spinning in opposite directions) and has been there for a good few minutes now. How long before I assume it's in a bootloop and go back to a previous restore point?
Oli.
5 to 10 mins max i guess
If it stays there its good, just wait, if it reboots it's not good you need to downgrade your radio using ruu. Let's see

[Q] Wildfire s stuck on HTC logo

I'm having real trouble with my Wildfire S.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it last week. Installed the wildchild custom ROM and the jellybelly wifi only rom, as I only want the phone to run one app. Started to remove some of the bloatware. Everything seemed to be going okay, until I then tried to instal XBMC on it aswell (was bored at work and wanted to watch the football!) but that was a big mistake as straight after trying to reboot in just got stuck in the white screen with green HTC logo.
Now I've searched and search this forum, following various tutorials on repairing bootloop, unbricking re-flashing... everything, but nothing seems to be working.
I had installed cwm and backed up, created a nandroid. But it all seems to have disappeared from the sd card, so now can't get into recovery to install the back up. A lot of the guides I've looked at require the phone to be on to enable usb debugging etc but the phone won't start up. Which also means I can't create a goldcard.
The only thing that seems to be doing anything is running the RUU, but it gets so far and comes up error 155, and says to find the correct RUU. So, I found my RUU on HTCDEV, its the UK O2 ROM, but when I un-zipped the file, it comes as a bunch of files and folders, not the .exe as the other one was. So how do I run it, is there another programme I need?
I'm really stuck, and can't find the answer anywhere on this forum.

No, as soon as I select recovery using the volume buttons then press power, it goes to the white screen green logo again and hangs there.

Okay, so I have no idea what has just happened, but, I tried to get into recovery again and cwm was working, so I've reflashed Wildchild and its all working again. So I guess something from the countless tutorials/guides I've been following has worked.
So, I'm going to start from the begining, as I've relocked the bootloader and unrooted at some stage.

You could make wipe from hboot and see if it take something.. and you can install cwm using one package "PG76IMG.zip" in the root of the phone, but remember you will need to delete it
