It really bugs me that we aren't able to see picture thumbnails when connected to pc. Anyone know a workaround to fix this?
x2!
What exactly did you try?

Hey Everyone,
I've been having a wierd issue ever since upgrading to AOKP and 4.0.4. When connected to a computer via USB I can only see 10 folders on my SD card (Alarms, Android, DCIM, Download, Movies, Music, Notification, Pictures, Podcasts, Ringtones), but cannot see any of the folders that I create. I've tried all suggestions that I've seen so far like downloading SDRescan, making sure the MTP is checked, fast-boot is off, but still can't seem to fix the issue. I've been using a Wifi Explorer program, but it isn't as quick of a USB transfer. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I have Dslr Controller, and it works perfect with my phone. My problem is I use to be able to view the sdcard in the camera thru my gallery in the S3, and now I cant. I was wondering if anyone can help me fix this problem.
It may be a default setting that I activated maybe, but i have no clue what to clear, or anything.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello everyone,
I've just rooted my Samsung GN2, and I'm enjoying it to the fullest. The only issue I'm having is that whenever I plug my USB cable to computer, I can only preview icons on "phone" or "card", I don't get the thumbnails as I use to. Which made it a whole lot easier to drag and drop, rather than open each single file. All my computer settings are correct, I've tried another Android device and it shows its thumbnail preview. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I have this very strange issue which I discovered on my month old Note 2. I never had this issue with my previous device which was a Nexus S.
I hook up the phone via USB to my PC. Select "camera PTP" mode. Then when I browse the folders via Computer\GT-N7100\Phone\DCIM\Camera I don't see any videos that I shot. However, when I browse the files through the default "my files" app in the phone I see them. Why is this?
Windows 8 detected the device and installed all drivers too. Because of this I am not able to move the videos shot with the phone to my PC. Any help?

Secondly, when I type on the default Samsung keyboard and make typos, the keyboard suggests the right spelling which is nice. However, when I tap on space, the suggested right spelling is not used. However, the wrongly typed spelling which I typed is used. This was not the case with the default keyboard which came on the Nexus S, it automatically used the suggestion. Any way to configure the keyboard the right way?
Any help on these 2 , especially the first one will be greatly appreciated.
to transfer, try airdroid

Mount as mtp not ptp for video and file transfers. Default keyboard doesn't autocorrect you'd have to use one of the modded stock keyboards from the themes and apps section

I mounted as mtp only. But still no luck. Is it something like large files are being ignored? Anybody else facing problem?
I finally used airdroid only to download the videos. But it’s not a straight forward fast process.

You can always use a file explorer and move them to your ext sd then pull it from the device and pop it in your PC to transfer them

I've not got an Sd card in my swift so pictures are stored locally. I can see the picture files on the phone using astro file manager. The problem is when I connect to Pc via usb and set the connection to file transfer (or picture sync) windows doesn't see the folder so I can't transfer the pictures across. I can see they are in Dcim\camera using astro on the swift but that folder doesn't show in windows - I'm using windows 7. It can see whatapp/facebook images on the swift though. Drawing a blank as to what to do next. Anyone got any ideas. TIA
It won't solve the usb connection, but maybe you can work this around by uploading your photos to Google Photos or Drive from your phone, then downloading them from those websites on your PC.
Hope it helped (;

I have the same problem connecting a wileyfox swift mobike to a windows 10 laptop. It shows the wileyfox swift as an empty folder. I have tried Bluetooth successfully.
I had this problem also until I checked the following on my Swift:
Settings/Developer Options/Select USB Configuration
Mine was set to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). To transfer photos it must be set to PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol). When the phone is connected via USB to Windows 10 the icon showing in This PC should be a camera. The frustrating thing is that having selected PTP the phone seems to randomly change back to MTP or Charging on occasions so always, always check you have the appropriate configuration.
All I need to do now is figure out how to get the camera to save pictures on my SD card and not the internal memory in the first place. Can anyone help with that please?

Just an update to my last reply:
I have found a quicker method of achieving this. When the phone is connected via usb swipe down from the top and the connectivity status is displayed. It is possible to change the connectivity status here instantly without the need to go into Settings. For some reason I can now transfer photos from either PTP or MTP. Perhaps in the past whenever I tried it was set to Charging and not MTP as I thought. (I did say it has a habit of randomly changing itself)
Thanks for this, just downloaded a thousand photos that I thought I'd only be able to get by emailing them to myself. Thanks again, Pete
