Think I bricked it. - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

So I was trying to sort out my bad ICS flash as I went from ATT to ICS insted of doing as I was told to. So went to try and flash back to .111 but think that was a bad idea. Had a fatal error in Flashtool that gave me a boot loop to nothing works. What do I do now??? Thought about exchange seeing as I only had it a few days but not sure how that would go with it being flashed. I feel dumb now lol

Use PC companion to repair or try flashing again. What do you mean nothing works? What was the fatal error?

It was a TA fatal error. As for nothing working it will not do anything. No lights, no flash mode, no hard reset or force shutdown response. Found another thread and trying some things talked about in there. Will also try PC Companion and see if I can get back going again.

So nothing happens when you hold the power and volume up for 15-20 seconds?

Correct. It does not respond at all.
Edit: Does not respond to usb either.

Dont panic first,
I had the similar experience before, after flashing, the phone entered boot loop. I hard reset it and the phone never booted. No light when either charger or usb was plugged in.
The solution, charge your phone for a whole day (more than 10 hours I would say). Apparently, flashing roms consumes a lot power and it took my phone 4 hours to just get the led light back on and another 2 hours to make the phone able to boot into charging screen.
Try charge it for a really long time and see if led light can lit again.
good luck!

Thats what I am in the process of now. Crossing my fingers and hoping it works. Just to make sure I am correct I need to flash the .111 rom with a wipe or no wipe or just the baseband?? The way I read it is you need to flash from ATT to the International firmware. I tried to flash back from ics to the international firmware with wipe. I orginally went from stock att to ics.

The easiest way flash international firmware (exclude basedband ) over gb with no wipes. and then, flash .111 firmware with only baseband selected and no wipes
You probably want to flash at&t stock firmware with wipes to your phone first before doing that.

.111(gb) is international firmware. If you want to make sure you get tethering back, I would wipe everything when flashing to .111. Then flash. 233(ics) excluding only baseband and do not wipe. If you skip the wipe in .111 it's likely you'll back here saying it didn't work.

Ok so I got the red light. Have tried to get into flash mode but no luck yet and I now have a red light that will come on and then go off then back to on. Guess I need to wait a bit longer.
Edit: Just to clarify I got here by flashing LT28I with wipe from ICS. Not sure what went wrong and really wish I had saved the log from it.

Ok I have a solid red led now with it plugged in but still cant get it to do a darn thing. This sucks and makes me quite worried. I'm still holding on to hope but man this sucks.
Screen came on was in boot loop on Sony flash. Got it to reset 1 buzz and shut off 3 buzz and now back to zero response and no led.

Just let it sit till the light turns green. I believe the recommendation is not to flash with less than 80% battery anyway.
Sent from Rooted LT28at with ICS.

Will it give me a green light while boot looping?? It came on with out me touching it and kept looping the Sony splash and was not sure it would continue to charge like that.

JUST let it charge - flashing sucks up alot of battery, also bootloop kills your battery too. After it full (greenled), you can put the phone in flashmode - read the 'solved' thread in Q&A section. I would suggest you start with. 111 firmware (all wipes), then .233 (no wipes - exclude baseband).
Sent from my Sony Xperia™ Ion - ICS & Rooted

I have read that thread and its what I have been going off of. I had the device come on to the loop of the Sony splash screen but was not sure it would keep charging while doing that. Did a force shutdown only to start all over again. I now have a solid red led again and I am just letting it charge to see if I get green again. One thing that did occur to me was I also had a system R/W error when I went to do this at first. I should have never went forward from there.
Edit: Still looking at a red led. Really hope it turns green at some point tonight. Kinda hard to just sit here and wait lol. Over four years of doing this kind of stuff and this is the first time anything like this has happened to me.

What you can do is. get the Flashtool setup to flash, and while your phone is in mid loop, (when the screen is blank) plug in your phone in flash mode. I got stuck in a boot loop on my first flash attempt too, and thats how I got out.
If you don't want to root your phone, flashing is a lot simpler than it reads out to be.
the main thing is to make sure your PC has all the drivers installed.
What I did was
Flashed the.111 firmware wipe everything, nothing excluded. restarted the phone, I didn't bother setting anything up. shut the phone down, flashed ICS, with exclude baseband checked, then I was good to go. I did have to manually set up my APN, and some others had their phone automaticly do it. not sure why that is.... Hope it works out for ya!

So the light went out. Still no response so unplug and plug back in and red light comes on. Has been on the charger for about ten hours now.
Edit: Ok so screen came on again on its own and was looping. I tried to get it to connect in flash mode but no luck. I now have a different situation where the screen is dimly lit and nothing showing but black. It will not do anything again and I am starting to lose my marbles over this. About to just take it back and get a new one.

I had the correct drivers or I would not had been able to get ICS with root in the first place. Is it possible I had not loaded the flash driver for the ics firmware?? I am just thinking out loud at this point. I have a blinking red led again but not sure I will get much farther. With it coming on in a loop on its own I dont think it will keep charging like that and at this point think I may just be caught in a constant loop.

I have the same problem when i downgrade firmware from Ics to GB. Now I turn off Ion already. But I can't turn on, I try to charge but it doesn't have the red light or green light I still charge the phone..................

[HELP] Bricked, almost dead Defy+

i bought this Defy+ just a couple of days ago and i was trying to get CM7. I struggled to root it but i achieved it. I wiped and did all the procedure before installing it, but i didn't had enough space on my SD, so i rebooted and booted like a brand new defy, going through the Blur config and everything... So i went to Recovery again, but at this time i forgot to do the wiping - which, i guess, led to a brick.
So i managed to get a .sbf to flash it.. What i didn't realized is that the .sbf was a custom, so i guess this ****ed up my phone even more. And so i went on trying to rescue my phone but this time i couldn't complete the flashing process, i wasn't able to perform a downgrade - i guess. After this, i got a non-rootable .sbf and began the flashing. The process got stuck on some message at 0%, then i disconnected the phone.
When i was able to download a stock firmware, from the .sbf thread, the phone wouldn't reboot when RSD asked, it didn't turn on again. So i tried to re-flash it, same .sbf and now i'm stuck with this situation: the pc is not recognizing my phone, i have a black screen - not even the Bootloader error screen is appearing and i'm here, begging, for someone to help me. is it dead? can i get it back?
HELP, PLZ
Is there any juice in the battery left? Does the phone even turn on or did you just drain all of your battery? If so, you have a couple of options - do McGyver or find somebody with the same phone and ask him to charge your battery and then start over. I would strongly recommend you take the second option.

it doesn't turn on, but i guess it does have battery, i can see the led on when i connect it to the pc
Led is always on when connected to the PC - it means nothing. If it doesn't turn on, then your battery's dead. Find someone who has the same phone and can charge it for you.
I think there is no problem, but you flash older firmware, which is probably due to the 7 bootloader does not go up.

If it gets past the red m and just keeps playing the android animation then simply pull battery hold volume - put battery in and keep volume - held when you get the android and the triangle press volume + and - and wipe all, should boot, unfortunately you've just flashed the un root able sbf and are stuck on moto standard

[Q] LG Optimus G Stuck On LG Screen Need Help.

I was making a TWRP Backup when all of the sudden my phone just randomly turns off. I grabed my phone and it was really hot. Tried turning it on, but nothing happened. Then I connected it to the ac adapter and it turned on, but it would go to the LG logo, the screen turns black then it restarts. This does not stop unless I unplug it. I had previously made two backups before and nothing like this happened, but this time I enabled conpression<-------- This must have been what caused this. All I want to know is if this can be fixed or not. If it could be fixed I would be so happy if somone could tell me how to fix this. THANK YOU. P.S. THIS PHONE IS A BEAST. D

Likely bricked. Do you have flashing notification and capacitive lights? Have you LGNPST'd? If yes to both of those questions, you're in the same predicament as I was and hopefully you have insurance, because your phone is fried.

I had a similar problem as you. Upon getting the phone I rooted and used the FreeGee app from the Google Play store to unlock the bootloader. Everything seemed fine and dandy, until one day when I let my phone's battery drain completely. Pluggin it in to a wall charger resulted in the failed boot where the LG logo flashes before going to a blank, but backlit screen. Luckily, the first few times this happened, through a combination of quickly plugging and unplugging the usb cord and holding the volume up+power button, I could get it into recovery (TWRP). Then a simple cache & dalvik cache wipe, and the phone would boot up as if nothing ever happened. Very strange.
Well yesterday this happened again, however, this time there was no getting the phone into recovery. My previous methods of button mashing and plugging and unplugging weren't working. So, I decided to bite the bullet and use LGNPST to get back to ZV7. Now, like you mentioned, this failed boot would automatically happen, without pressing the power button to turn it on. So it was difficult to get the phone to stay off. I found that with the phone unplugged, if you continue to press the power button until the blank backlit screen turns off, AND continue to hold the power button for an additional five seconds, the phone would stay off and not auto power on into the failed boot.
Once I was able to get the phone to stay off, I pressed the middle of the volume key to depress both volume up and down, and then plugged a usb cord that was attached to my computer. This powered on the phone into download mode. Following the LGNPST guide I was able to get to around 67% complete before my phone turned off and an error message flashed on the computer screen telling me to power cycle the phone and reconnect. Well, the whole 67%/85% LGNPST failure is apparently common and not indicative of an actual failure; HOWEVER, my phone became completely unresponsive. It wouldn't power on at all. It didn't matter if the usb was unplugged or connected to the computer or wall charger. So, I was forced to unplug the battery. I followed this tutorial and successfully disconnected and reconnected the battery cord, and the phone shot back to life. It even booted up into the factory stock ZV7 rom. I guess that LGNPST was successful. It looked like I was on my way to returning my phone to breezy's deodexed ZV9 stock rom that I was previously running.
I went ahead and re-rooted, ran the FreeGee app again, and rebooted into recovery. Then I made a backup and attempted to flash my new rom. Now, I think this is where I royally screwed up. I was pleasantly surprised to see my screen layout and all of my settings still intact after LGNPST back to ZV7 and thought I could just wipe the caches and ignore the factory reset and system wipe before flashing. Perhaps it was this, but part of me also thinks there might be something wrong with my battery draining extremely fast in recovery.
I proceeded to flash and all seemed good, but rebooting resulted in the LG logo failed boot that we have already discussed. So, I went ahead and repeated the LGNPST-re-root process numerous times (switching to the freegee 0.5 batch file instead of the app). Everytime after the first initial restore, I could never get my phone to enter recovery. As soon as I rebooted after using freegee, the phone would be soft bricked again. Sometimes I would get the LG logo thing, other times I would get the dreaded alternating flashing red notification light and soft keys. A battery pull was usually required in these circumstances before I could get back into download mode to start all over.
I was about ready to give up when I took to the LGOG irc channel. That's when Xboxfanj stepped in and helped me out IMMENSELY. Over the course of several hours, he walked me through flashing some partitions in ADB. At times it seemed like there was no hope and that I should have just returned the phone, but he failed to acquiesce, we pushed forth trying a couple of other bootloader options. The new bootloader appeared to have fixed the phones erratic behavior with powering on and off, but I had no rom to boot into and no recovery. Xboxfanj recommended using fastboot to flash over a recovery. Once in the new bootloader screen my Windows XP machine detected new hardware and wanted some drivers. I attempted to use the [ADB/FB/APX Driver] Universal Naked Driver 0.72, but XP indicated that I was missing 'winusbcoinstaller2.dll'.
I grabbed winusbcoinstaller2.dll from here and all was good. Fastboot recognized the phone, I was able to flash recovery and subsequently boot into recovery. From there I reformatted the system, wiped data/factory restore, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, and flashed breezy's ZV9 deodexed rom.
Fortunately, after around 7 hours, I am happy to say my phone is back to being rooted, unlocked, and running ZV9. It powers on and off properly and can get into recovery without a hitch. I'm still curious what will happen if I let my battery drain completely. Perhaps I'll try it some time this week. I'll be sure to post back here if/when I do that. All in all, it was a harrowing, but educational experience.
Anyway, just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Xboxfanj! You really are the man :good:. Thanks for your patience and determination.

About an hour ago my phone shut off at 26% battery (16gb galaxy S3 running CM10.1 nightly 01/16). As I went to turn it back on it will boot into the CM splash screen spin a few times and just shut off. I attempted to charge it, and turn it back on but same thing. After that an attempt to get into CWM, which I was able to get in and it shut off while I was in it. I also tried putting the phone in download mode and about the same time frame it took for the other attempts resulted in a shut down.
Any advice? Or am I stuck doing a warranty exchange?

Sounds like its your battery not a hardware problem. Leave it overnight or a couple hours charging and if it indeed boots up its your battery.
If it doesn't then flash stock and test it if the same result then call up that Warranty. I've seen this same issue with other devices where the battery dies at 50%+ and usually replacing the battery fixes the problem. Test your battery for overheating or swollen.

Even better then lol just test it out at work. I'm about 80% its your battery specially if you OV/UC.
I have the t-mobile US t999.
Last night I was having an odd issue with the networking dropping. I've had the phone for about a month, modded since day 1 with a CM10 variation of a rom (sorry, I forget the exact rom). I had no issues whatsoever up until this point. After a few restarts thinking maybe it was a fluke issue with the network, or network signal in my room, the phone forced itself into emergency call mode only. I couldn't get it to come out.
So I decided I was going to odin on a stock rom as I could get it into download mode, that went through successfully. When the phone boots, I get the android taking off (Tmobile 4g) logo. Then the white samsung logo, and it doesn't go beyond this. I know this can take long so I left it there for about an hour, nothing. The phone also displays a blue led the entire time it's hanging as well.
Also worth noting, when I attempt to boot into recovery it just vibrates over and over.
Not sure what my next steps should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

after you odin, you need to wipe data/ factory reset to boot. If you can't get into recovery ( Power, Home Button, and Volume Up), then try reflashing your stock image in Odin and check your MD5 sum, so you can rule out a bad download
Thanks for the reply, I'm re-downloading the stock rom now to verify it's integrity and do a new flash. I cannot get into recovery, so we will see after the new flash. Pleading ignorance on one subject, how would I go about checking the MD5 sum to verify the file has no issues?
Additionally I did try to Odin recovery and still could not boot into it, this was however before attempting to re-download and flash a stock rom again.
**Edit//Update** Re-downloaded and flashed stock rom, was able to get into recovery and wipe, booted up fine.
Wow.. great idea for a thread and THANK YOU!!
Perfect timing too cause i need a little help please.
I am not new to android but new to samsung (WOW, didnt realize it would be so different from HTC ont he rooting and flashing side of things).
Long story short. I have a tmo s3. Bought it today and wanted to root. phone was working perfectly as it shoudl on stock rom unrooted. I downloaded the tool kit v7, used that to root adn install TWRP and rebooted into the stock rom that is now rooted. Still everything working perfect.
Here is what i did next and where the issues start.
Downloaded Synergy r290, went to recovery.
Wiped Cache, Dalvik, Data, and System (made a backup first)
flashed the rom and rebooted to system
However, nothing ever happened. I see the samsung logo, then all goes black and nothing happens (left it there for 10min)
I cant seem to get back into recovery holding vol up, home and power either and have no adb access to use that. I AM able to get into download mode which i know i can fix my problem here with odin, but i am just not sure what to flash and where.
Is there an easier way??
Thanks in advance for any help!

If you absolutely can't get into recovery to restore your backup..
Flash the UVDLJA root66 file in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 via odin. You will have the latest UVDLJA JB update, and will be rooted. From there, install goo manager from the play store to flash TWRP.
After that you're all set to flash whatever you want (just make sure it's for the Tmobile s3).

Just upload the file to PDA and hit start. Make sure to let it finish completely, once the phone reboots, it's done.

Let's see if you have any solution for me?
Weird problem. When I set kernel frequencies on my phone, they at some point get locked at the maximum frequency. This has happened every time I flash a new ROM or kernel, and I'm worried that it will soon start to affect the battery. I'm using the msmdvcs governor on both kernels that I've tried (stock and faux)

[Q] I need help. My s3 i747M shows zero signs of life.

So I wanted to install a new custom ROM and I all ready had one. It wasn't the first time. So, like usual I download the files needed and put them on my phone, boot into recovery and flash them ( but I didn't factory reset or anything because with the ROM I had I didn't need to for it to work I could just fix the not responding errors) Then i go to reboot and I wait. Nothing, nothing at all. Now I try to remove the battery and try again and now none of my buttons do ANYTHING the only sign of life there is, is when I remove the battery and plug my phone to a usb cable and attempt to charge it, all that happens is a red LED comes up. It's probably due to one of the things i installed on my phone that flashes a red LED when battery is low. Please help me with this. My last resort is to give my phone to rogers for them to fix it because I still have a warranty.
Specs: S3 i1747M Rogers
I had aokp jellybean 4.3 as my ROM
I do have a nandroid but its on my phone's sd card
Thank you for your time and I hope we get this to work.
Can you get into recovery mode or download mode?

No there's litteraly nothing I can do. pressing all the buttons does absolutely nothing. Just stays black and no signs of life
bump. I need help fast with this.
Not sure exactly what you did but I hate to say its sounds hard bricked. Mine was exactly the same, with only the red light coming on for about a minute when cord was plugged in with no battery. I screwed mine up with a file I grabbed without reading properly what it was for and in my haste I installed it. After I rebooted it never came back until I got it back from warranty with a replaced control board. Im guessing they didnt even check the internal memory or they would haven known what a dumbass i was since i voided the warranty doing stuff i had done before that mistake. Glad I had made a nandroid before i pooched it so i didnt lose anything after i got it back.
Yeah after some research I found out I hardbricked it but this isn't the first time and I had a warranty for both( different phones btw )times so I guess I'll just send it out. :c
could just be out of juice, leave it on the charger for around an hour then try and go into download mode.

[Q] bricked xperia ion after flashing firmware

So.. my xperia ion kept said there was new system update. Which was 6.2.b..221 i think. But i unlocked the bootloader so i had to flash firmware on computer. So i downloaded on website where it said lt28h/lt28i latest firmware. I flashed it and my phone went reboot loop. It turns on, show sony logo, went blackscreen, reboots and repeat. So i did hard reset which made situation worse. I let it drain for 3 hour and charged it for 5 hlur.(red led showd right when i put charger.) It got on charge screen but i was stupid, hoping it to turn on normally and be my friend forever as it used to. But got on reboot loop again so i did soft reset because i didnt want let the battery drain for long time and charge it again. But it stuck at blink screen. Or black screen. You know how does this screen look like? It's not real black but the screen has little bit of light. So i could even use it as mirror.
I drained it overnight and now im charging it again(red led shows right when i put charger)
Anyone please help?

I think You flashed the wrong ftf file. Try downloading one from xda and flashing it again.

Yes, You have to connect immediately to pc. Don't let it be in continuous bootloop, it will drain out the battery. Did You try downloading a different ftf and flashing?

I don't know much about carrier firmwares, I would recommend waiting for someone who knows to reply. But I don't think flashing a world generic firmware would do any harm, still wait form someone to reply!

my friend came back alive! thank you!
for those who got same problem like me
[IMPORTANT]
(make sure you get battery with thunder icon on the screen when you charge your ion after it died.(it will appear after battery got charged enough. it took me about 1hour i think.
make sure the screen goes off when unplgued from charger.
DO NOT touch anything before you boot into flashmode or fastbootmode otherwise you gotta drain the battery and charge it again!
1.download your device's firmware and put it into flashtool/firmware. in my case,(lt28i) i downloaded 6.1.E.3.7 stock frimware on xperia ion development section.
2.run flashtool, click thunder icon, click okay, select firmware that you downloaded and click flash. it will say it's preparing for flashing and say boot your device into flashmode.
3.NOW. Carefully. really Carefully press only volume down button and keep press it until you connect your device to computer. this is where i messd up and startes over.
4.there will be green LED if you got into flashmode. than the onlything you have to do is wait for the flashtool to finish flashing.
5.when it's done, take a deeeeep breath, disconnect, and press power button till you feel one single vibrate.your device will reboot and work as it used to!
i didnt lose any data(in every storage like built-in storage(?) or sdcard? and ext sdcard.) except that the apps that i installed was missing.

Glad I could help. Only Your "system" and "data" partition would be formatted, not the internal(sdcard) and external(extsdcard) memory.
And "data" is where Your apps are installed, so those will go too.
