Hi all.
I just installed Jandycane 1.7.2 on my KF and it's gorgeous, smooth well done praise/praise/praise. I'd like to get Chrome up and running (a large reason for jellybean on this device). It's known to not function - and I tested again on latest version (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811376)
That thread recommends two fixes - 1: uninstall Chrome, wipe dalvik and cache, revert to a previous version of jandycane, install chrome, re-flash latest version. This seems to be the easiest fix, but the links in ROM OP of Jandycane http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766829 are all dead (Apparently I'm lucky I got it about 4 hours ago), because goo.im seems to be DOA right now for pretty much everything).
So in regard Fix 1 - does anyone have a hosted copy of Jandycane 1.6 or thereabouts that they can host somewhere until goo.im settles down in a few days?
Regarding that thread's other fix, which itself is referencing a post in the ROM's OT: 2: wipe/wipe/wipe, flash jb-kfire-hashcode-07-13, flash gapps, wipe caches again, install Chrome, dirty-flash Jandycane 1.7.1 (assuming works for 1.7.2).
In regard Fix 2 - I also can't find jb-kfire-hashcode-07-13 anywhere, does anyone have a hosted version of this, a version they can host, etc?
Thanks.
Yes replying to myself. I've been a *LONG* time lurker... need my 10.

Let me start off by saying, don't hate on me for replying to myself - yes it's for 10count. But I've been lurking here about 2 years and while I haven't found a need to post much, I do now, between a new Nexus 7, and old Huawei Ascend2, 2x Kindle Fires, and probably soon to be a second Nexus, I have questions damnit!
Now on to the jbkfire-hashcode-07-13 : It was originally posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765288 and the link leads to droidhive.com which is showing as a dead GoDaddy site. So... yeah.
Is the whole community being effed with when I need them most? Droidhive and goo.im down at the same time, mediafire and dropbox thresholding downloads or simply freezing accounts for 72 hours over traffic, blah.
Some help would be appreciated so I can get the KFs running well for the wife and kids, and I can go back to playing with my Nexus 7.
Thanks.

Few n00b questions.
Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
Third, i have noticed that there is an issue with network and wi-fi when i flash cm7 RC1 over the nordic sbf. when i go back to official 2.2 SEA there is no hassle at all. Since i live in india i was wondering if that was the issue. I can easily take care of the network problem using "baseband switcher for defy" but it still doesnt help the wi-fi problem.
My question is.. will using the new BOOTSEA nightly solve this problem. I am assuming from the name is boot"SEA" im assuming its built southeastasia specific.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
Thanks

Firstly, how do i flash a nightly on my phone? lets say im running ofw 2.2 SEA edition? Do i follow the same procedure as if to flash RC1... do i also need to flash gapps similarly.
--> I'd say install RC1 and gapps first, then try a nightly by just wiping cache and Dalvik - no need to install gapps again since they're on your phone now. If you install a BOOT version and want to go back to an earlier CM7 nightly, then you might want to start from scratch, reflash froyo and install RC1 + gapps again.
Secondly, are the links on quarxs' CM7 for defy thread up-to-date? or are there newer versions of gapps and nightlies floating around somewhere
--> mostly up to date, but I don't worry about gapps too much as I believe that the Market gets updated automatically anyway (but I might be wrong about that). On the OP, the link to the gapps should show you up to date versions; but read the comments on there - very important.
---> same here my wifi DL speed was really bad for the last month or so on CM7; only after BOOT179-4 install, my wifi speed somewhat got back to normal.
Fourth, ive used CM7 RC1 for a while and apart from the wifi issue i got problems with camera and video... it absolutely doesnt work, wether it be in potrait or landscape or whatever setting... the app just force closes. Any fixes for that.. ive got green lens.
---> My camera and video worked on RC1 (and earlier) but video recording had some chopiness at times. Around July 11th nightly, Quarx released a camera fix (in that nightly) that solved the problem for me. But then days later, on newer nightly builds, I got the FC problem on video camera (same as you but red lens here). Then with BOOT179-4, camera was fine again and so the wifi speed; so all good for me.
--------> I really don't know what's going on with the video camera: many poeple have problems and many have it working on every nightly builds. It has been a problem from day one for Quarx on CM7-jordan... You have to try and see which build works for you I guess. And like you said, BOOT-SEA definitely looks like something you should try - many people liked it and many people say yesterday nightly is the best for them so far... so go on and have fun with testing
---> Before you do more testing though, you can always do a backup from the custom recovery so it will be easy for you to restore your current phone state -if nothing improves. I do this all the time: stock recovery factory reset, nordic flashing, RC1 install then restore my (BOOT179-4 now) backup.
Please help!!! and i hope other similar questions can be added by members here so as to make this thread an FAQ for distressed users like me.
---> I did try to help - I hope I did! If so, you can use that "Thanks" button - hehe!
---> Not sure that a thread entitled "nightly doubts" will become a very popular
FAQ thread though

i went thru the whole FAQ but my doubts are regarding the nightlies which it doesnt address hence the thread.
thx for the concern though.
downloaded the BOOTSEA, but there is another file "cm7-110726-0018-BOOTSEA-Jordan.zip.md5sum" mentioned below it. ( there are similar md5sum files for all nightlies...) are they essential ? and how do i use them.
wanted to clarify before proceeding.

Md5 files are to verify your download is not corrupted one. Which you can compare the md5 after downloading the zip file and regenerating the md5 of downloaded file and check against the one in the server.

No problem.
Go read here on the official CM7-jordan thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654&page=943
And from post 9429 particularily; pretty much goes in the same direction I was pointing at regarding the wifi and video camera...
How's the BOOTSEA doing for you?
The nightly ones is just the output that the ones who are working on the rom ups to us. Normally have all that part on topic that say "next version:..."
If you wanna try the nightly one, use as the *.zip that you download when got the "rc1 v2" for exemple. So wipe the phone, choose install from a zip of the sdcard and choose the *.zip, been it the rc1 or the nightly build.
The md5sum file is the one that contains the 5sum from the file. Its nornaly given when you have to download a big file and have fear to corrupt the file. If you use linux, go on terminal and type "5sum file" when file is the name of any file that you have. It will give you a big number. This is the 5sum. The *.md5sum have the 5sum of the respective *.zip nightly rom.

Inverted gapps is flipped colors. Just flash the normal ones if that's what you want. Read through the thread for info on each download. Do not flash the dirty zip, that was intended as an update if you already have the first version installed, and for me it didn't work. His op is very clear if you read through and see all that has been discussed. If you are not a flashaholic then you prefer the most stable, do flash that one. If you are daring then you are willing to try experimental builds, its pretty clear. Read, or at least skim through this thread and it will help.

I am. I haven't tried navigation but maps work. Look in dev stickies for a GPS fix. I never tried it. I'm using the older version and no audio issues. Those were reported in the update. I believe the op lists a version with that fixed though.

Hi, I tried to write a response to a development-related forum but i couldn't because:

art doesn't work in my DHD,i don't know why! I full wipe and inatall the rom, then flash the gapps. as my phone is s-on,so i flashed the boot.img at first, then i chose the art mode but it doesn't work.

We are talking about desire HD, with randomblame's taktik r1 rom: many users complain about ART not working, i think they make all the same error I made.
I had the same problems of the guy posting what i quoted: receiving a lot of errors from google apps.
I formatted and installed again 4.4.2 rom and google apps, turned ART on, same problems (on google apps)
so i formatted, installed 4.4.2 but NOT google apps, turned ART on, NO PROBLEMS, it worked
So I think we are using wrong google apps (the ones in the link of the first post of the thread don't refer to android 4.4.2!).
maybe google apps from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942 will work, a user in the thread told they work but I don't know if he was referring to ART.
The post of the link says "All 4.4.x GApps packages and addons are compatible with both ART and Dalvik runtimes"
This is what i am trying now: formatted, installed 4.4.2 and gapps from the new link, turned ART on... now I'm waiting
Hopefully it will work!

I have the same problem, posting in there or any of the dev threads
I tried ART yesterady on Mustaavalkosta's CM11 unofficial build.
And this was with the BaNKS core gapps.
It was working fine, but not all apps work.
For example stock browser works and all but Waze, and google finance did not work.
I didn't try any further but I think only the included gapps and the system itself worked.
I will have to try TakTik sometime soon now R1 is out :good:
---------- Post added at 11:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 AM ----------
Hmm, there are some more people trying out ART in Mustaavalkosta's Thread.
You should check it out some people were succesful at it.
It comes down to the fact that the /lib partition should be removed/formated so that ART has more cache available.
I am on Mustaavalkosta's CM11 and Banks Gapps. ART works fine in CM11. I had the FC problems with taktik earlier, thought it would be fixed in R1. Guess we will have to wait for sometime.
As for me, all my installed apps works fine in the ART runtime, although the stock browser is very lagging.
@zuzuzzzip, do you face any lags with the stock browser?
Hey, could someone tell me whether I can use some other Gapps and flash it to my phone, because when I start my phone I get some errors that programms and other things have stopped and I cannot use the phone.

Gapps notworking
Hey Guys,
thanks for the great work. Keep it up! I've installed it and it's working like a charm.
However, I cannot get gapps working. I flashed the gapps from your link, but there is no play store or any possibility to sign up with my google account.
I've also tried flashing gapps-510-base-20150422-2-signed from androidhost. Same negative results.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I also tried flashing multiple gapps versions, it looks like android doesn't detect the new apps...
Works!
It works and looks really awesome. Is it only my feeling or is CM11 a bit faster than CM12 on PRIMOU?
No Gapps
After looking further into the iddue of no gapps showing I found an article stating that it might be a twrp related problem. However, flashing CWM and installing the rom and gapps anew also brought no results.
Yet, the application manager shows that gapps are installed. They just aren't showing.
Maybe one needs to force start playstore etc via terminal??

Google Play Services missing?
Works great, but Google Play Services seems to be missing so you can't really do anything with it yet (no Play Store or anything). When can we expect a build with gapps services?
Awfully slow with gapps
While the Rom works fine and smooth on its own, it becomes unbearably slow after installing gapps. In fact, I couldn't even finish the cm start assistant because the phone was too slow.
Anyone experiencing the same? found a solution?

Sorry, but the phone is just very slow and was never designed to run lollipop, overclock your cpu to 1600mHz and it will be better.
Performance will get better in the next builds, especially when the low_ram prop is usable.
Sorry, I may be missing something, but I have flashed GApps as soon as I have flashed the ROM. There are apps like GMail, Play Music, Play Games and others but no Google Play or Google Play services. The Google account setup wizard didn't appear on first launch either.
I have tried re-flashing for a couple of times now, sorry if I'm wasting your time if I'm missing something obvious here.
Lately my phone is giving up. Camera doesn't work, phone app crashes, it's slow, etc.
It's stock with Franco kernel. Previously I tried just going stock everything, but still everything is slow.
What can I do to speed things up?
