Good news but personally I don't like gamelofts... Asphalt played 5-6
Controls was very bad... I hacked asphalt 6 to complete some tracks lol it was so hard passing drift race Dmm... Nfs and racing thunder much better then it... As well as less in memory... That's my point...

For mobile phones, unfortunately, yes.. because they don't require such complex controls that action games need.. the screen size are limited on mobile phones so i never enjoyed games such as Max Payne and GTA.. asphalt series and other racing games, however are acceptable, but they're heavy and eats battery a lot..
So i prefer casual and simple games.. If you're into heavy gaming i suggest you to get a tablet instead..

Besides that, iOS developers have only a few products to deal with... 3GS, 4, 4S, the 3 editions of iPads and iTouch, whereas Android has several manufacturers with a gazillion phone models to work with, with different hardware specs and OS versions as well. So try to be in Gameloft's shoes for a sec. Besides, we don't want a released (paid) app that's full of bugs anyway.
I tweeted gameloft and just got a reply now
We have hit a slight delay with the android release, we anticipate it will be available by the end of this week.
Wow. This is going to be cool. Even better then those so called "Need for Speed" for PC. [after carbon, all nfs sucks. Best nfs: most wanted]

You can find multiplayer mode players there who are just damn great.
So, you people just accept that you can't do that.
You are blaming gameloft for making that type of games that you can't play!!

i'm not saying GL can't make games that playable, imo playing such games on a phone wont give you the best 'possible' result.. you definitely never play the same game on a different device.. that's why i recommend to play it on a tablet instead..
i may not be the best player/gamer but i choose not to.. sometimes it's boring and other people don't even care if you're that good.. i experienced this many times on numerous online games i've played.. now i play none of them..
oh, you have a TV and a gamepad.. but for gaming from a phone? seriously? PS3/X360 looks very outdated now..

Anyone tried it out yet, or would be willing to try it out, or think it will work with the n7? If so, could this be the best option(?) for media for those with the 8gb model. I plan on trying it out when I get mine.

Yeah, I'm very interested in this also. Another reason I am not too worried about being limited to 8GB. It would be great if someone who has access to a Nexus 7 could test this out and share their experience with it, if not I will probably just buy it and check it out myself when I finally get mine. I'm interested to see how well it works for basic tasks, gaming, and watching videos/movies. My ultimate dream would be to stream my Xbox 360 games to a tablet like this, and play something like MW3 on the go.

I agree.. I downloaded PLEX and it's been keeping me looking for more.. I wonder if Splashtop HD will support JB and how long it will be discounted 8.99 (usually 19.99) in the play store.. I hope until the n7 delivers

Splash top HD is listed as not compatible with the nexus 7 but the regular splash top is. Also there's a splash top two coming out for android soon. I think I will get this with my credit but I want the kinks to be worked out first.
Anyone try it already?
I'll try loading up my backup from my tab when its comes next week

What's the difference between the HD version and the regular version? I can't really find anything on their website or from Play Store (other than "optimization" for Android 3.x or 4.x tablets).
As far as I can tell the regular splash top is designed for smaller screens.
I wouldn't mind buying this as long as it is still on sale when they have made it compatible
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Afaik hd users will be getting free lifetime subscription to the new version when it comes out (at least they are doing that for ipad people). I got an email about it since I own the standard version. Seems like otherwise it's like 1.99 for the app and 9 dollars a year, which still isn't terrible.
i got the free version from amazon when it was the free app of the day!! cant wait to try it out
That's what I have. It works well and looks good to me streaming movies. That's one reason I was wondering what the HD added.

I was curious to try it out but the hd version doesn't even show up in the play store on my n7
The regular version seems to work, THD gives me a black screen when trying to remote connect, I'm going to email support and see if there is something in the works, because I am unsure if I need to grab the THD version or the HD.

I'm also getting a black screen on my Nexus 7. It is connected because touches on the nexus translate to the comp, it's just not displaying the video on the Nexus screen.
I'd love for them to get the THD version working. Playing big PC games on smaller devices was always one of the most exciting potentials of Splashtop, and the fact that they support bluetooth controllers and special screen overlays in the THD version is awesome.
It's especially silly because the Tegra tablets they made this version for probably didn't sell at all, but here's the Nexus, which has the potential to sell a whole lot and it doesn't work on it. =(
If anyone gets a response from Splashtop please post it here.

I had emailed Splashtop about the fact that the Anywhere access for free is available for any of the Splashtop "vets", they said that the new feature is unavailable currently for Android, however "we will provide the original SPlashtop Android user the free AAP feature. Please stay tuned, it's coming soon!"
So I guess this means that v2 for HD will be compatible w/the N7? Because it's still listed as incompatible as of this posting...
so should i buy hd now or wait to its compatible? because i already have the normal splashtop from amazon.

Yes I am really interested in getting this tablet, but I am mainly curious if anyone has heard that if it is going to have any other docks for it like the one for the Samsung Series 7 Slate desktop dock.
Wanted to order Note 10,1 because S-pen and it is very nice and high end product - but i am more windows user, therefore not yet ordered and will wait some time, and i am using consumer preview of win8 on my touch netbook and it is worth to wait and try (as it is preview only, it is really big fun on USE as tablet, supersmooth even on ATOM, IE10 is very quick, high-res pictures rendering is blazing fast....i believe win8 will just show to others how device should work...
also happy user of note 1 phone, cancelled note 2 order and will wait if there will come WP8 similar based device from samsung - as android is nice, but sometimes flashing the device and customizing takes so much time that i just want to USE my devices for better productivity which android lacks proper support from top productivity software companies. Hopefully on W8 launch there will be also store uploaded with usefull apps as my current W8 consumer preview appstore is not as full as playstore (on the other way you can use 50apps from playstore for serious use).
Note 2 is super nice device, even Jelly Bean looks to be promising, but i just want to have full replacement of PC on my next tablet, so MICROSOFT is the way - no other app from play do not match the MS office productivity etc...(speaking as bussines user, for other casual users is android good product)
Anyway, my money will wait a bit and after 26Oct i will consider where to spend them.

That'd be like developers making games for Mac and giving windows a **** version. Piracy will happen regardless of platform and if someone is going to pirate it wont matter if its iOS or android they'll get it done just the same

Like any industry we're going to see a consolidation of suppliers. For internals I'm thinking Samsung and Qualcomm, (Texas Instruments has dropped out, right?). For screen resolution I think it's still a crapshoot, hopefully we'll have settled on 1280 x 720 (OH HAI NEXUS 4 with your silly 768 width resolution, I thought Nexus was the reference. Will the reference change every year? That's nice).
But yeah, once everyone's on Samsung and Qualcomm silicon then maybe it'll be slightly easier for the devs to dev on Android.

I suppose, but I see this mostly happening with big names. Smaller companies seem to have less problems but it's too much for the likes of Gameloft and others? The zenonia games for example I've had no problems with since my G1 back in the day. It's run on every device and every OS that I've had no issues. I don't think it's a matter of " difficulty" it's a matter of laziness. I will say in regards to hardware that I wouldn't count nvidia out so much I'm not a fan of them but I think that nvidia, Qualcomm, and Samsung will be the big three (sad to see Texas instrument go :c) Intel and AMD don't have much chance in the space outside of maybe tablets, I don't see them doing well in regards to phones. Though I would like to seem a dual core AMD APU with a radeon Chip in my phone or tablet
Edit: my opinion of laziness would also stem from the fact that Nova 3 hasn't worked on my GNex in almost two months since the last update and Gameloft has yet to fix it. The fact that they manage to break support then just don't fix it is ridiculous. No communication on the matter or anything.

By difficulty I really means time and money. One thing I've learned since working in QA on mobile projects is that developers aren't lazy, management jus doesn't let them fix things due to the money involved.they would rather put money towards a new game for more sales while maintaining some semblance of quality, at least that's the idea. Some go for quantity of games over quality but in the long run they'll hurt themselves.

I know the individuals themselves aren't lazy I don't blamed the employee I blame the company they work for. Gameloft needs to get it straight that quality will earn them loyalty and in the long run five them better revenue due to a better reputation. Like Valve for instance, I'd buy any game they made in a heartbeat because I know the company as a whole provides quality games and customer support. Favoring a given platform in the mobile space with how it's evolving isnt gonna be the way to go. Companies need to look at the mobile space similar to the desktop/laptop gaming space not like consoles. Phones/tablets are closer to desktops/laptops in function and need to be treated as such. That's just my opinion c:

In regards to games the functionality between devices isn't much different then how it is with everyday PCs. You got gaming rigs, low end laptops, etc. With single, dual, quads, some only support up to SSE2 instructions, some have GPU with steam core or the old pixel/vertex processor type. The mobile space is no different than regular computers in that regard. The processors are mostly ARM based or arm compatible which due to dalvik isn't a concern. GPU all have support for pretty much the same functions with some difference in things like supported texture formats. There really is no excuse as the mobile space isn't bringing anything radical to the table.

What would be considered "real" Steam? Valve making a source engine for Android and allownig devs to use it? ... hmm now that I loudly pointed that out, it is a pretty nice initiative if a source engine was made. try ppsspp and play almost all your old psp games.so if it runs like a psp that's basically a portable gaming console...at least for me...even plays at higher resolutions....connect a joypad...but I try to keep gaming to a minimum...as in most lithium batteries, it will really push out the charge cycles and the battery is not replacable...still excellent bat life for me at least....

This! All Games i have are Smooth to play without laggs or something similar.
Games i tested:
GTA: San Andreas
GTA: Vice City
Ravensword2
NOVA 3
Order & Chaos
and a bunch of games like Final Fantasy (3 - 5), EKO online, Iruna Online, world of goo etc
All this Games are playable on the highest settings.
Its one of the higher spec tablets (if not the highest spec tablet in the "smaller" 7 to 8" form factor), so obviously its going to hold its own with games for some time to come.
Tablet is great, but the battery should be better.

I think you can unlock all apps/games in the app store (even those that are not compatible with your device) by installing xposed framework and the appropriate module using wanam xposed or xblast from the play store.
