For mobile phones, unfortunately, yes.. because they don't require such complex controls that action games need.. the screen size are limited on mobile phones so i never enjoyed games such as Max Payne and GTA.. asphalt series and other racing games, however are acceptable, but they're heavy and eats battery a lot..
So i prefer casual and simple games.. If you're into heavy gaming i suggest you to get a tablet instead..

Besides that, iOS developers have only a few products to deal with... 3GS, 4, 4S, the 3 editions of iPads and iTouch, whereas Android has several manufacturers with a gazillion phone models to work with, with different hardware specs and OS versions as well. So try to be in Gameloft's shoes for a sec. Besides, we don't want a released (paid) app that's full of bugs anyway.
I tweeted gameloft and just got a reply now
We have hit a slight delay with the android release, we anticipate it will be available by the end of this week.
Wow. This is going to be cool. Even better then those so called "Need for Speed" for PC. [after carbon, all nfs sucks. Best nfs: most wanted]

You can find multiplayer mode players there who are just damn great.
So, you people just accept that you can't do that.
You are blaming gameloft for making that type of games that you can't play!!

i'm not saying GL can't make games that playable, imo playing such games on a phone wont give you the best 'possible' result.. you definitely never play the same game on a different device.. that's why i recommend to play it on a tablet instead..
i may not be the best player/gamer but i choose not to.. sometimes it's boring and other people don't even care if you're that good.. i experienced this many times on numerous online games i've played.. now i play none of them..
oh, you have a TV and a gamepad.. but for gaming from a phone? seriously? PS3/X360 looks very outdated now..

What would be the best show off game to get for the One X?
Anyone of the new THD games .. the new Shadowgun looks pretty epic with bombs and lights effects. But, the best for showing off, I'll have to say Riptide GP, because the effects are pretty stand out, they'll make people say "Wow, I never seen anything like this", while on Shadowgun they're pretty embedded in the game you won't notice unless you played the game on non-Tegra 3 devices .. and also let's not forget Glowball.

Wow, that was interesting. I don't really do games any more, but very cool to see. I'd say Smartphones are now where PC gaming was about 10 years ago, but given the low power consumption etc etc, that's pretty damned amazing really. That and they're actually higher resolution.
Plus, given the rate of innovation in the mobile industry, it'll be biting on the heels of current gen equipment in very little time.
Wow, anyone knows a game that has same gameplay as Chidori? (last game on vid)

Which has the ability to have better graphics? Xperia Play or PS2? I was checking out the Desert Winds game demo, and I was thinking that the Xperia Play might have it better? But then I have never owned a PS2 before...
Specwise the Xperia Play should be able to play better games, but it also has to handle a lot of other processes. I think it's about even.
PS2 of course. PS2 have lot of games.

Sent from my R800x using xda premium
It actually depends on the game. Gameloft games will not look as good whereas other games that were not ported over from iOS will look better. Every game will look good on PS2 because that's what it was made for. Most of the games we play on the Xplay are ports that look worse. Compare Asphalt 6 on android to iOS. It's a lot shinier and better on iOS.

This is a rather silly thread when you think about it. You are comparing a phone to a gaming system. That's like asking "Which is better - a Hot Wheels Boss Hoss, or the 2013 Ford Mustang?"
-- "Well, the Boss Hoss is a nice shiny silver color, but I can run it over with my Yugo, so I'd say the 2013 Ford Mustang is better."
-- "Yeah, but the Hot Wheels car is really fuel efficient!"
-- "Well, my Yugo gets good gas mileage!"
-- "Yeah, but it can't go up a steep hill like the 2013 Ford Mustang!"
-- "Well, neither can your Hot Wheels car, dude!"
YEESH!!
the stories in ps2 are better but the gameplay in xperia play is better thats my opinion
I'm not sure if this is right, but I'm thinking that the XPlay has better graphics power than the PS2. Does anyone think the XPlay is capable of running a game like Tomb Raider Underworld?

The framerate makes it unplayable for me at stock, it's just too much of a distraction.
I'm waiting on a gameloft update. (sigh)
However, with faux and game booster app it plays pretty good with a decent framerate , but still annoys me that it's still not the framerate it should be & not what iOS users get.
Stock users - I'd say not to bother yet, as the framerate is choppy hell.

Sorry, (in the nicest way possible) .... you must be blind if you think the framerate is ok .
Go have a look at the trailer on the play store, that's how it's supposed to run.
Everyone I've spoken to has mentioned the very poor framerate, even android police the other day mentioned it to be 'definitely choppy' in the pre-review.
It's not Tegra 3 compatible, not really.
It runs at terrible framerates on both my Nexus 7 & HOX.
It may work, but we have to wait on Gameloft for the fix.
This game doesn't even run completely smooth at all on base 2.05, faux kernel and game booster app - stock 1.29 has no chance.
......
Unless your using a U.S snapdragon S4 version, not sure how it runs on that HOX.

Probably man,i don't realy know what to say,i will compare it tomorow with my Ipad to see how it runs, but for me it's ok,i mean,i've noticed that all consumers lately want everything to be perfect, not realising that we are running on our phones games that are larger than NFS:Underground or NFS:Underground 2 which we played a few years back on the PC or PS and we were totaly satisfied about them, even if they weren't perfect.Probably that it isn't optimized for the Tegra 3,lately Gameloft didn't perfect theyr games and haven't worked as much as they did in the past on the games. But,in theyr defence,we did pay 1$ for it,i mean, lets be serious,we can't expect great things for a buck man.

Lol, that may be true for NFS, but the size of gameloft games are wayyyyy too big in size.
To think Torchlight is under 600mb for the PC, makes you wonder how a racing game for a phone could be 1.3gb. - ouch.
i don't think the price of an app is an excuse for poor coding - the game shouldn't have been released yet, not in its current state.
I've heard the SGS3 also has framerate issues with this game (just not and severe as most of GL games for Tegra3 devices) and that's operating on a year old GPU, so it shouldn't have optimisation issues - but even here, it does.
But, HOPEFULLY - they will release a fix soon, and not wait a month like they did for batman on Tegra 3.
Sadly, gameloft ain't like madfinger who will respond to you quickly and issue a fix quickly if it's their problem.

Yeah, unfortunaly i've sent an email to them regarding the accelerometer problems, sayd they will investigate the problem, but so far,nothing...i am not an expert programmer,i understand some codes, but i mean, how hard can an accelerometer problem be to solve it?
Luckly that i've got used with the touchscreen "virtual buttons",otherwise i wouldn't played this game.
As for the size of them,i maybe saying something stupid....but...aren't the guys at gameloft using Unity to make the graphics like the guys who made Dead Trigger?I tried like 1 or 2 years ago Unity and the graphics made with that program always use to much space.
Reached championship 9 so far .
Yeah, I think android police agreed with most of us.
Hopefully, gameloft will take note with some bad publicity & make a quick fix.
It definitely seems to be affecting all android devices.
Gameloft should definitely come with a disclaimer warning that it is optimized for iOS only.
Android Police said:
Graphics And Performance
Even with the above foibles, Asphalt 7 could be a good game. The deal breaker for me is the overwhelming mediocrity of the graphics. Judging from the screenshots on the Play Store page, this should be a gorgeous game. Instead, it's just average. Even then, only on some devices. On the Nexus 7 the texture resolution is absolutely terrible. Everything in the environment looks muddy. The cars aren't bad, but there is noticeable aliasing along the edges.
I also looked at things on the Galaxy Nexus, and the textures were a little better. I was still not impressed with the overall fuzziness of the roads and buildings, though. The jaggies are not as prevalent here, possibly because the screen is smaller, and I can't see them as well. For whatever reason, performance is questionable on both devices. Both will get a spot of lag from time to time, and the Nexus 7 seems to have a lower frame rate The brightness also looks too high, making the game oddly washed-out. There are a few places that I could barely see where I was going because the gentle blue track markers blended in too well with the background. Turning my device's brightness down did nothing to fix this. I could also see distant objects drawing as I rocketed along. That should not happen on any modern device.
For 1.4GB of game data, I expected stunning graphics. I really feel like some of the smaller Need For Speed games look better than this. Asphalt 7 is not ugly, but it's just not pretty like the screenshots would lead you to believe.
Conclusion
On the surface, Asphalt 7 is a fine game. The controls are solid, and there are plenty of tracks and race types. I can even deal with the in-app purchases because they don't seem exploitative. This is essentially a $7 game that you can have for $0.99, so dropping a few dollars on better cars seems alright. The learning curve is steep, but not to a fault However, the requirement that you have internet access is beyond ridiculous. Things fall apart for me when it comes to visuals and performance. I'm just disappointed in how this game runs on the Nexus 7, and it's not terribly good on the Galaxy Nexus. Lag, low frame rates, and blurry graphics are not what I expect out of 1.4GB of game data. If this game was free, I'd definitely suggest you pick it up to try. As it stands, you could spend $0.99 if you like Asphalt racing games, but there's just nothing that special here.

hey, i just bought that game. had no other driving game on the smartphone, i've heard about "asphalt" genre before and it was pretty cheap.
well, after 1 race i simply dont like it. the worst part is low framerate and fps drops. on a quad core, fastest mobile device on the market, i'm expecting the game to be work flawless in 60 fps. driving is bad even for an arcade racer.

Runs ok here, I'm still using galaxsih kernel though, no sds fix so be careful if you try it.

ive got to say im disappointed, grpahics lag in some areas, draw distance crap, nothing like the trailer, controls suck bigtime, compared to asphalt 6, plenty of in app purchases which is fair enough but alot of decent features are gone

You'd have to modify the apk to enable the enhanced effects, which Gameloft only enabled for certain devices like the xperia play.
Anyway, I agree that the game sucks, even with the enhanced graphics turned on. Compared to asphalt 6, there isn't even a single new map.
It's like the Gameloft guys thought, "hey, isn't the asphalt 7 deadline tomorrow? Crap, we haven't even started yet. Let's just change the menu of asphalt 6. I'm sure no one will notice"
So after i gave away my smaller moga controller in a giveaway(winner will be announced July 5th) i decided to order the moga pro and give my perspective on it. this controller is a must have for hardcore mobile gamers, especially with console like quality games releasing everyday. This controller only retails for $49.99 so it's very affordable. And with enough feed back from you guys im def giving this away once i throw up a few more videos on it. tell me what you guys think about.

Best thing to do is to unlock your phone and install the GE rom on it - sense rom and HTC have throttled the One so if the game is graphics intense it just drops the framerates!!!
Get moga pro, custom rom, modern combat 4 and multiplayer - oh my its like a console in your hands!!! amazing experience - since i did this i have not touched my 360!!!
Looks awesome, thanks. I have REALLY been wanting one but my newlywed budget can't handle the extra $50 right now lol.
Moga Pro improves on all the quirks of the original. I'm hoping they do a giveaway like they did with the Moga's. Not even a month after they announced the Moga they gave away hundreds of them for free with MC4 and Sonic as well.
I seem to have a lot of problems with the moga pro aiming etc on modern combat 4 it goes from to sensitive to not responsive enough. So the sensitivity in multiplayer sucks but with auto aim this makes the game bad ass. I wish all games were compatible with it.

Looks pretty awesome, nice review! I never heard of Moga before this thread.

You don't need a GE ROM to fix the thermal throttling. Just install ElementalX. It has its own custom thermal controls. I can game as much as I want with no slowdowns without giving up Sense.

I had the pocket one (the first one), and absolutely loved it. I mostly only used it for my SNES emulator, never really liked it with the bigger games. The pocket one worked great so I have no doubt that this one is just as good.
Has anyone had any luck redeeming their complimentary game? I don't care overmuch, but Gameloft sent me away with a "your device is not compatible" message. Sadness.

No, mine was definitely NOVA 3. Bizarre. Ah well. Are you rooted?
Just got the moga. It is an awesome accessory for gaming. So far I have tried 5 supported titles and they work amazingly well with this controller.
My only gripe is the built in phone clip is a tad too narrow if my device is in my otter box defender, or more importantly while I am using my mophie. I have to use the tablet stand when using my mophie.
Also, in case anyone was wondering I am using the GE ROM so I have not tried this on stock sense.

Really? It's a bit bulky, but it works with my mophie on.
And I redeemed using a Nexus 7 (my Nexus 10 wasn't compatible either, strangely) and sideloaded. Good game it seems, but hard to see on the One.

I can get my mophie to fit on it but it is not tight. I have to be careful so it doesn't slide out. That's a bummer for me because some of these games are a major battery drain.
