My phone is actually quite laggy now. Sometimes flicking between the menus lags so I have to restart my phone.
Also, high end processes such as the game asphalt lag A LOT.
Whats up? I thought this was "the most powerful phone in the world"?
+1 finding mine to lag a lot as well........
Mine also becomes increasingly laggy, the only thing that sort of works is using advanced task killer to stop the all the background running programs, some were running on mine i dont even remember opening!
Not finding this at all. I think it's certain apps that cause it as my phone is practically full of apps barely any space left but still not laggy.
EDIT: No task manager on mine either.
i have around 40 apps including asphault and sygic navigation and i nevered faced lag in my desire....!!!! the only time i restart the phone is when i have all of them running and cause i don't want to kill them with task managers i restart in order for it to close them itself.
Sorry but I must say, I'm a bit disappointed. The Phone is Luggy.
And I don't even dare to compare it to Iphone (And Yes I know it boosts more then twice the resolution of the Iphone), but still When I play Asphalt It looks like a Pentium 3 running - Crysis.
So... "Fastest Phone ever made"??? Maybe only on paper...
Asphalt for some reason does not run well on the Desire, the game is butter smooth on my Milestone. Let's hope they optimize it for the Desire as well, the game is quite good.
The phone does get very laggy unless you use a task manager. For a snapdragon powered phone it doesn't seem to be very "Snappy". It's seriously bad in the "All Programs" menu especially.
As for gaming, the milestone will unfortunately always be better than the Desire. It has an OMAP/PowerVR CPU/GPU combo (The same as the Nokia N900) which outclasses the Snapdragon in 3D gaming but is slightly slower in CPU intensive apps.
I've been attacked with huge consistent lag since 2 days now (unknown before) but it was the miscall app and app organizer running in the background causing it (as well as voraciously depleting the battery life) so not a problem here.

I usually play Fifa 12 with my xplay. it run so smooth but only when I reboot the phone before I play the game. So when I play Fifa12 during the day, There is so much lag and slowdown, Even with Hard gaming mode of ram manager pro and use fast reboot app before I play the game. on the other hand, if I reboot my phone. Every game run so smooth and I don't need to change to hard gaming mode in ram manager pro.
Any suggestion ?
ps. Sorry for my english
Because your system is probably using more ram in the middle of the day, after a reboot your system uses alot less & slowly increases, you should uninstall unused apps & close unwanted services & maybe use Advanced Task Killer (From The Play Store)

I had tried advance task killer to kill any task that show on screen. But the result is the same, the game (Fifa12) is still laging so much. Cannot be compared with its performance when reboot.
why on earth still people hold on to Task Killers when tons of reliable articles already prove they are useless and do more harm than good? oh good god
Android booster. Frees ram, actually freezes apps not kills them, saves battery. The problem is your ram is being used up. Easy fix though!
Uninstall the task killer if you are using one and let Android manage the apps on your phone by itself.

I tried it this morning. It look like just another task killer, and the result is no change, the game is still lag after I hit optimize button.
V6 Supercharger. That worked for me, phone getting snappier.

really ? Is it more effective than ram manager pro ? So, which option in v6 do you choose for you xplay ? I will try it to night and test for 1-2 days. Then I will back to report the result.

hey wheres the link to the v6 supercharger ...... I need this .....
I use v6 supercharger, the kernel script they have and the die hard battery script both work great and I can go 17hrs with heavy use with gaming!

i have the same problem , it runs great after a reboot and gets slower. I installed v6 supercharge which made the homescreen blazing fast , but the games still lag after sometime. I even set a widget for "engine flush" , which may or may not help , im not sure.
Im using die hard launcher and super ledded 512hp
V6 Supercharger settings ?
Hi,
First thread I read so far where people are mentioning they use V6Supercharger on XPeria Play.
I have a question :
Do you use V6 Supercharger on the stock 2.3.4 Sony-Ericsson ROM or are you applying it on a custom ROM ?
If on the stock ROM, what settings are you putting in ?
I ask before I tried to apply V6 Supercharger on my R800i under Stock SE ROM without success.
Frozen boot screen of death...
Had to recover through ClockWorkMod. Thanks ClockWorkMod !
Thanks for your feedback !
Hi there,
As nobody answered my call so far, I come back to give feedback on my own experience.
I tried again to install the V6Supercharger Script and manage to get through this time.
The first time, I guess I simply did not wait enough time.
In fact, I had to wait like almost 10 minutes on the Sony-Ericson XPeria logo (after the boot animation) before my phone came back to life.
It can be quite stressful !
After that, I went through the pin code entry screen and found out some of my widgets did not properly load and some applications were not showing up.
Therefore, I rebooted and everything went fine on the second time. All the apps showed up properly (only mixed up in the scrolling app section).
Launching the script again, it confirmed my phone was 100% supercharged with the following settings :
- DieHard launcher
- Rock&Roll Kernel
- Miscellaneous tweaks and 3G enhancement installed
- 512HP setting with V6 CustOOMizer option
- Minfrees set at 8, 12, 40, 47, 55 and 62MB
with 367MB of Ram (is this correct for the XPlay ?).
This was applied on the Sony Ericsson stock ROM 2.3.4 and the stock Kernel.
The first impression was that the scrolling between various home displays was faster.
I started Dead Trigger, running correctly (maybe just a bit slower, not sure) and when I exited the game, I had almost no Redraw time to wait.
Before V6 Supercharger, I used to wait around 5 seconds before all the icons were there again and I could scroll.
This time, the icons were right there and the scrolling hesitated for maybe 1 second but got super smooth again right after that.
Ok, this is to share my experience with you, guys.
No idea if anyone has experience on the XPlay ? Maybe using other settings ?
As there is a clear note that this script is not intended for heavy gamers, it tends to indicate it should not be really used on the XPlay, mainly used by heavy gamers.
What is your opinion on that ?
Cheers,
Hi All,
I like(d) my ARC, especially for gaming. The problem is, however, that many games (amazing spiderman, the dark knight rises, death trigger..) randomly crash during gameplay. Firstly I thought it is a RAM problem, but now I think it is something else because when the game crashes, often the launcher is still in memory and services like Facebook or Maps or Dropbox have been running for very long time. In other words, if it is a RAM problem, shouldn't these services and processes be killed before the memory reaches critical state and the app crashes? I have about 150MB free ram when starting the game, I doubt the whole game is going to eat it all up (unless android is for some stupid reason trying to keep 100 MB or so constantly free..)
So if it is not a RAM problem, what else might be causing these issues? Lack of VRAM? Are you guys facing the same crashes? If not, what ROM are you using? (I wanna keep ICS, so pls. don't tell me "go back to GB" )
Thanks for your opinions!
V6 Supercharger.
The only problem - supercharging makes the phone slower and everything lags more. Heavier applications (like Chrome or maps) cause the whole phone to freeze even for 5 seconds.
Use CM10 or MooDeD 90.7
Hello,
I'm running Jbsourcery 4.1 and tried played games with Trinity & Franco Kernel (both overclocked).
When i e.g. play GTA Vice City the Game gets lags about every 10 seconds. (Changing the resolution or the draw distance doesn't remove this lags).
Could it be possible that another app runnin in the background causes this lags?
Any app i could use to check this?
Thanks in advance
..
Well, please consider the following three points in order to help you bettER:
1) Mention the CPU and GPU clock speeds of the kernel you are using
2) Keep the game running in the background, then check the "running" apps in settings so you can either spot something or share here the running apps to help you
3) What about any other "heavy" game? Same issue or running fine?
Waiting to hear from you

1) With Trinity: 1689-512 With Franco: 1536 and the standard Franco GPU (don't know which it's)
2)In Settings/Apps:
Settings (1 process/62 MB), Music Timer widget (1 process 1 service/3 MB), Facebook (1process 3 services/ 23 MB), Apex Launcher (1 process 1service/ 73MB), DSPManager(1 process 1 service/ 2,5 MB), Google-Services (2 process 1 service/ 13MB), Android -keyboard (1 process 1 service/25MB) RAM: 521MB in use, 172MB free)
3) Tried Modern Combat 4 + Gta Vice City and both lag
Good information
1) Have you tried any other ROM?
2) Try removing Apex Launcher then see how the game performs. Just a guess because other processes are mostly regular ones except Apex. And maybe it worths to try closing Facebook as well.
Is anyone here actually able to run GTA VC smoothly? I've tried everything. I'm starting to think this phone just can't handle this game.
I haven't tried vice city, but GTA III was the one game my g'nex just couldn't do smoothly. Fortunately the 7 takes care of that problem.

The Problem occures again and again after a while.. But when i wipe cache + dalvik cache +battery stats and reflash Rom+kernel the Problem disappeares for a time -.-
I think i try another rom the next days ..
Vice City runs normally (without this 10 second lag) rather smooth .. lags some times a bit but mostly not
Hi there
I have a Galaxy nexus on android 4.3 and running 3d games have lots of lag. For example, the game with the most amount of lag is Modern Combat 4 with the meltdown update. Is there a way to improve the gpu processor power on the phone so that itwouldboost the framerate? Its always about 5-15 fps and im so annoyed. If there is a solution, could you let me know? My galaxy nexus is not rooted.
Does it plays smoothly then, for no reason, it gets laggy for some seconds, then come back to play everything smoothly again, then repeats? Or it just keeps being laggy at all times?

It does exactly that, it plays smooth for 5 seconds then ridiculous lag for 10 seconds then repeats like a loop.

What I'm gonna tell you now may be related to what what is happening with your device or not. It was my problem, so if it's not this I don't know what can be happening.
First, the galaxy nexus can downvote it's processors when it's too hot, although it's probably not that, just keep that in mind.
Anyway, go to settings - apps then "running apps" and check the used and free ram. If you have high RAM usage (like, 600 mbs being used) than this is probably the problem. While you're in the game, your gnexus will try to clean RAM for it, but since your gnexus is already out of RAM, it will force close background app's and services, but since those are required to run all the time, all that's going to happen is that they will keep being restarted, causing lag in the apps that are running.
To check if this is the problem, just check how much free ram you have free. If it's too low, open a game (even temple run 2 or sub way surfers will do), then when the game starts, go back to settings-app-running apps and check for things restarting.
If this is the problem, then you need to see what is the apps that are consuming all your RAM (although it can be android itself, just keep reading).
Just check what apps are in the running part of the "running apps". If you have a lot of apps running, then you can try freezing some of them or unnistalling the ones that consume more RAM. BUT! it may be that there's just too much RAM being consumed even though you have few apps running, in this case, the problem is android itself.
I don't know if this happens to android 4.3 itself, the gnexus's version of it or if it's some app causing it, but there's a memory leak that will eventually consume all your RAM. I'll use my case as an exemple: I have some common apps running on background (facebook, messenger, whatsapp, airdroid, 3d watchdog). If everything is normal, my "used RAM" keeps aroung 430mb~. Leaving almost 200mb~ free for apps to use. But after some days using my phone, the used ram will grow to 500, then 550, then 600mb, eventually to 630mbs.
Check if this is happening to you. To check, simply reboot your device, then when it boots, check how your RAM is being used.
If it was normal before the reboot (around 500mb, probably even less) and stay this way after the reboot, then your problem is another one, then I can't help you.
If your RAM was high and after the reboot it's still high, check your running apps.
If it's high but after the reboot it's back to normal, then you just "solved" your problem. Just keep rebooting daily.
If this was your problem, then enjoy your phone. If it's not, you can try checking some other things like the I/O speed (which was solved in android 4.3. Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971852&highlight=trim ).

When I checked, I had about 300-400 megabytes of ram being used. Thank you for the info and the effort though. It has a dual core processor, it should be able to run well.
I figuare out the problem of the game lag, the CPU temperature limt!
If you're using custom kernel, set the limit to 74, and u will find out it smoothly on game play, plus if you of the gpu to 384, its almost lag free, but frame drop is also here coz the gpu power.
Does this work on stock kernel also? Last time i had custom kernel, lots of screen problems.

Nope, flash leankernel, wipe cacje and dalvik cache, install trickster mod, and adjust the settings.
Quite less you can do with stock kernel.

You need to use trickster mod not Franco app. The Franco app is optimized for the Franco kernel.

FKU also incorporates LeanKernel Updater so why isn't it optimized
And just to add that the above trick of disabling thermal throttling works nicely for me. I always wondered about why playing PPSSPP produces random lag - setting the governor to "performance" won't help a bit - and FKU saved my ass!
