Hopefully a leak will surface for the North America variants as well.

Let me ask a question. While I'm aware this isn't for our phones, does one need to revert back to stock recovery to flash this through ODIN or not? I'm asking in preparation for when the NA leak/official gets released.
Should be no need

Ah, the lucky bastards... Although I expected it for carrier reasons, of course.
I'd love to see how touchwiz and all is improved through jelly bean, since it already seems pretty damn smooth, so looks like I'm spending today looking at that instead of studying for my exam!
EDIT: from what I read, it doesn't look like it's near done, as there seem to be a bunch of problems with the leak... At least it means Samsung isn't just holding out on everyone!

Yes, you do. I tried to flash a TouchWiz mod while on CM9 and my phone wouldn't boot. Had to use Odin to get back to stock firmware, reflashed the firmware from before and it worked.
Anyone have any idea if anyone is working on porting the Internationals version over to our ATT phonesÉ

LOL, why run AOKP just to make it look like Touchwiz, I run AOSP roms to get rid of touchwiz apps and touchwiz looks, but hey whatever floats your boat.

touchwiz mod or rom? Most of the earlier touchwiz roms didn't come with a kernal which is one reason it made it so it wouldn't boot after coming from cm9 which does install an aosp kernal
Odin will overwrite the recovery/kernal/system but not data.

Heard that if you dont flash this over the stock original you can brick the devie. All and all its a good news, hopefully ours will leak out soon
I can't wait to see what the US version will be like. I was running CM10 but went back to ICS because it just wasn't stable enough for me at the time. They are coming a long ways tho with CM10 and might be switching back soon. I wanted to flash the leak but its not worth the risk of bricking my phone.

agree, because of differences of hardware in international and american s3 versions.
CM10 is pretty stable atm. Nightly builds started already. I stopped having problems since the 8/10 build with dirty flashes. I might just go back to stock once JB is out though. I do miss a lot of thr gesture features and the camera!

Well maybe you will have better luck, but I just tried pushing the files over with adb and setting permissions, rebooted and couldn't get pass boot animation for cm9 alpha 2. Maybe things like these require a wipe of cache & dalvik (but ics wiping anything not recommended), but then again I have a feeling using systemui.apk might be ok, but not so sure about the framework since its from a different phone. So now I'm currently odin back and trying to flash back to cm9 before bed time

Well technically the Epic touch is still on Gingerbread so I don't think they would be able to port to our phone yet.
Once the source is released a good developer could build a stock AOSP ICS ROM for our phone...
It would be nice to start from a un-modified Android ROM so that we could have something similar to CM9 with tweaks specific for only the E4GT.

I totally agree with you on ICS based ROMs are buggy and laggy. I've tried a few now and I haven't really been blown away with ICS so far. And I agree with the need for an official build for our ET4G's.
But I don't think it's Samsung's fault totally, I'd almost place most of the blame on Sprint. The international GS2's have their ICS update, and we all know to well that the ET4G's update to ICS is being worked on and tweeted by Sprint. A good portion of our ICS custom ROMs come from Sprints development and leeks, so it's there.
Sprints got a few new ICS devices out like the new Nexus and EVO. Plus more in the works for this summer, mainly the GS3. I always feel that most of the "feet dragging" on updates are done by the carriers. Why would they be concerned with updating last year's hardware, it only costs them money. When they could focus on selling us the next big thing with all the new bells and whistles and make some money. But hey that's just my opinion on the it.
For my money I'm sticking with 2.3.6... I've been running a stock, rooted, debloated rom as well as the stock kernel and modem for the last few weeks now and loving it. Using GoLauncherEX as my launcher I get no lag, and haven't had to deal with any lockups, random restarts or apps not working right or not at all.
Updates are always going to be an issue... I remember the wait for Froyo, it finally came out and most of us were disappointed with it. Then the wait for Gingerbread started... It fixed a lot of issues, but over the last year or so with the release of 2.3 and it's minor updates Gingerbread has become very stable and fast. Especially on devices like our ET4G'S, Gingerbread was originally written for lower spec devices so... On a device that's capable of running ICS it runs like a dream. But again that's just my opinion.

So your ROM post in Development http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837624 and cannot WAIT for this to be uploaded.
I've been bouncing between various stock roms, CM9 Nightlies, and CM10 Preview but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. Based on the screenies you posted it looks like this ROM might fill the gap, to a tee. Since you asked here is what would be a dream rom for me:
LG1 or latest released firmware (the leaked modem doesn't look stable yet).
AT&T fully debloated (All useless).
Samsung Email replaced with ICS Email (with exchange policy bypass).
Samsung MMS replaced with ICS MMS (for the Emoji support).
Either S Planner or ICS calendar so long as it functions with S Voice.
Either Samsung Dialer/Contacts or ICS so long as it functions with S Voice.
Samsung Camera Intact as it's one of the best things about the phone in my opinion.
Samsung S Voice intact (It has it's usefulness).
Samsung S Memo intact (Why not?).
ICS Holo Themeing where ever possible/convenient (Love how clean CM9 looks).
Tethering/Hotspot Enabled (A must for any custom ROM).
Google Now couldn't hurt (Probably overkill with S Voice intact but what good is 2GB of memory if your not gonna use it, right?).
Stock Lock screen replaced with ICS Lock Screen.
International Boot Animation
15 toggle mod couldn't hurt.
Extended Power Menu (Another must for any ROM, right?)
ICS Keyboard installed (After years of iphone usage I cannot deal with no double space period insertion)
ICS or JB sounds would rock.
I think that's it, LOL.
The closest I have come to this is my current configuration which is WanamLite v1.2 with Samsung email/mms replaced with ICS versions following instructions found on xda. Then I use Nova Launcher in place of default home and WidgetLocker for my lockscreen. It's the closest I have ever been to the list above but your ROM looks like it might just be perfection.
I was actually thinking about learning how to build a custom ROM just to get the exact ROM that I would like. I still may just for fun but its looking like you might have already taken care of it. Thanks for your hard work and looking forward to trying it out!
Dude, I'm in Austin.... would love to get ahold of your ROM.... PM me.
Make sure you back up your imei. The thread is stickied in development

My Galaxy nexus just died. I dropped it and cannot read the sdcard inside it. I tried CWM recovery, and it gives me io errors when trying to flash it..
I have 3 options:
Repair, get the S3 or wait for the next nexus if it comes out on october 29th.
What would you guys suggest I do? I really love the Nexus brand because i get all the updates directly from Google.. I also love Android 4.1.2 and I know the S3 does not have it..

Not Trolling at all, I know 4.1.2 is suppoded to be released anytime soon on the S3. Just not sure in Canada. My friends who owns S3s are still on 4.0.4.

Awesome. Who is your Carrier?
My carrier is Bell Canada.
You really need to read through these forums. There are tonnes of stickies about the information you're looking for. Posting this kind of question leads me to believe you are trolling as well.

Alright....OK....no 4.1.2 isn't out "officially" yet. But to come here of all places and say its not on this phone you gotta expect a little trolling lol. There are leaks and custom ROM for it but officially should be in the next few months.....soon as the powers that be get their you-know-whats out of their you-know-wheres lol

you need to slow down and not post until you realize where you are. the is XDA. a place where things in the mainstream are not. that being said. we have Android 4.1.2. unlike the rest in the mainstream that don't. so just take my advice and search around the forums before creating threads of your own.
The answer is Yes, I am currently on the Cyanogen 10 Nightlies ... Everything works great aside from some random screen artifacts in youtube and the overall very functional and worth the dabble.
Can anyone help me please im using 4.0.4 rooted but want to update to offical 4.1.1 jellybean?

Well, technically it's not out for AT&T or Verizon or TMO.
But it is officially out for Sprint now I think. Released a day or two ago from what I read.
But most or all of the GSIII's have 4.1.2 available via custom ROM installs.
Really? Your title can't be serious. 1. Your on XDA. 2. You made mention of CWM, so you know rooting. 3. One tab back leads you to all GS3 development - I'm assuming you found your nexus rooting info on here so you're well aware of how the site is organized.
Is it April 1st again? There's another thread asking about rooting tutorial.
