Confused about going to JB - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys. all these threads and stickies about JB are confusing me.
I am not an expert at installing ROMs, but I do have my phone withÇ
-AOKP Milestone 5 (maguro),
- clockworkmod (not sure what version)
- FrankoKernel.(milestone 2)
- su.zip
And I do have ADB from Galaxy Nexus Tookit, so I did backup everything!
I would like to go to JB, still have Root access. Not sure if I should go to AOKP, its fast and good on battery usage, but been a pain for acquiring 3g data...seems I have to put it in airplane mode and back to normal to get data on 3g working.
So, I am thinking of going stock JB from Google that way I get updates from Google themselves.
Where should I start?
Thanks

If I were you I would flash a stock rooted jb rom version JRO03C that is the Google factory image one and see if you like it. Aokp is just doing nightlies now and they may not have the stability you are looking for yet.

Depends, I personally uninstall it first thing just because even if I loaded it with cash I feel I would never use it, as most places I go don't support paying with NFC, but of course that is just me.

You could also try a rom created with JB source, like CM10.
No need for the OTA updates from Google if you've got a ROM running.

I don't think that the op flashes roms very often, so I'm assuming that they want something completely stable which means cm10 is not an option yet.

Thanks guys, that's correct I don't flash Roms often at all! Well good news I am now on JB as I wanted. So far liking it a lot...battery is not as good as was expected.
Can I flash a different kernel, would that help? Or any other tweaks?
Otherwise...no problem, I pretty much have rechargers everywhere I am...home/work/car!

Trinity has a pretty good stable kernel but only flash it if you need the extra features and overclocking capability.

Does this make any sence?

So I flashed the new gummy bear rom and love it.
On top of it I chose Franco Kernel & 4.0.4 Hybrid Radios , i was not paying attention if before flashing 4.0.4 radios the signal bar were grey but how come i get internet with grey signal and wi fi bars?
I really dont want to re-flash another time i've done it today at least 5 times setting up all the widgets and stuff is annoying -_-
I would understand the 4G part if there was some maintance.. but Wi Fi as well?
take a look at attachments

Not sure if it matters but did you flash the toro or maguro version of gummy 8.1? Last time I checked he had the wrong one linked in his thread. Here is the toro version

I did flash Toro however I found out what was causing the issue.
I had to reflash 3 times in order to know what happened.
1) Titanium back-up restore caused it
2) 4.0.4 radios
hopefully the 4.0.3 radios aren't that bad...
That's odd. I had that problem but that's because I flashed the GSM version. I'm using the hybrid 4.0.4/4.0.3 radios and they work just fine.

[Request] ICS Libs/Bin

Story
So I had the Beat's pulled in for the Jellybean stock ROM's from the amazing Awesome ROM. Out of 2000+ downloads in the last 12 hrs only 4 managed to complain about having issues with it. Scenario being most of them were not deodexed (Used stock Google ROM)
Requirement?
PS: You need to be rooted to grab these files.
I need certain libs from those who are on the stock ICS 4.0.4, I've tried pulling the ones from the stock JB but he still ended up in a boot loop (No idea how) if someone can be kind enough to upload the following, would be extremely grateful, included the location as to where to find them.
system/lib/soundfx
-libaudiopreprocessing.so
-libbundlewrapper.so
-libreverbwrapper.so
-libvisualiser.so
-libdownmix.so
system/lib/hw
-audio.a2dp.default.so
-audio.primary.default.so
-audio.primary.tuna.so
-audio_policy.default.so
system/etc
-audio_effects.conf
-audio_policy.conf
Many thanks to the one with the patience to upload the following.
You can just pull these from a rom. Download an ICS rom.... Then find them.

Thanks for the update bro. Really appreciate it

Is 4.2 OTA out for toro VZW GN?

Or do I have to flash it manually? If so, is there a place I can find a perfectly stock version, un-tweaked with the original kernel, etc? Thank you in advance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
There is no OTA for 4.2 for any CDMA Nexus. You can flash a stock 4.2 ROM either in the Development section or on the rootz site.

Toro probably won't see an OTA for several months, if at all. VZW might be on the ball with this update and we'll get one by Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath

"If at all". Really? We already got JB 4.1 first before even Verizon's own Droid line up. Sure, we wait a bit longer for an official OTA, but we're still one of the first to get it.

I only mention it because the fire sale they had on the GN's really makes it seem like VZW is trying to get rid of their stock and move on. I admit that was pretty overly negative thinking, but I don't have much faith in big corporations.
Thanks for the responses. Any recommendations for a pure stock 4.2? I believe I saw an AOSP 4.2 in the development forum, but I figured it was tweaked around.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
MMuzzy's and mwalt2's ROMs are both apparently working quite nicely. I'm on mwalt's myself and have had no problems. Everything right now is basically stock because there's just not been enough time to monkey with things.
I recommend Jake's JellyBelly rom. It's on RootzWiki, though.

I'm running MMuzzy's ROM and there's nothing tweaked about it. Works smooth.

(Q) Rooting the GSM GNEX

so I'm considering it but I don't want to mess it up! Is it easy? Is it hard? Does it get much faster than stock 4.2?also does it improve network speeds I drop signal every now and then and I wanna flash a different radio... I've been routing for years but I just lost an s2 due to a sticky power button :/.. Is that a common issue with the galaxy nexus also?

Judging from your signature... it should be easy for you to hack your way into the Nexus

Thanks guys!.. Well I was checking being I bought this phone from someone on xda I went into recovery mode and turns out it already has CWM lol so I assume that it all I have to do is flash any room for the gsm gnex and ill be alright

Pretty much, although I would recommend updating your recovery to the latest CWM (6.0.2.3) or TWRP (dunno what version that's on at the mo) - especially if you wanna use 4.2.x

Could a flash a custom kernel with this.? I feel that's a dumb question cause with my s2 on stock I would flash kernels left and right but I just got my gn and I don't wanna risk a brick. Cause I didn't know better.

Updated OP with a zip that can be used to flash CDMA radio GA02 and LTE radio GA02! Go grab it if you haven't!
@FrostyF7, thank you for the words. I too found it very stable and smooth out of the box.
Thank you for the radio zips!

Thanks for the ROM. This is exactly what I was looking for. Just throwing my 2 cents, I found the official CM 10.1 nightlies to be more smoother and fluid than the Sprint stock 4.2.1. However I cannot attest to battery life due to the fact that I haven't ran both long enough to make ant valid conclusions. Thanks again OP and SexTape.

Cm 10.1 is not fully merged. It still uses 4.1 finger print and spyder. For whatever its worth

It is worth noting. You can't truly compare things that aren't exactly the same, can you? Thanks for the info. I'll be looking at the cm nightlies changelog for those.
