I'm currently running the touch wiz, Infamous 2.9.1 ICS rom with darkside kernel. I'm not too happy with sound quality during a call. I sound muffled. There is no echo problem. It's just not clear. Would a radio (modem) change help? I'm running Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip. DSP doesn't work on touch wiz ics so I can't try that. I also tried turning noise reduction off and on during a call. Are there any steps I can take to make it clearer?
Noboby has any sound improvement tips? Do you all have clear sound? What roms are you using? I've switched roms to jedi mind tricks and it seems like in call is a little clearer. Let get some suggestions for people who may be having problems though.

Dont know what to tell you, for me all ROMS that had call quality issues, I had them to and vise versa. Have you tried going back to stock or GB to see if its still there?

usually enabling noise suppression works for most with call quality issues. Different radio might work but doubtful if you get a good signal with the current. How's sound on stock rom?

I'm making due. I reflashed the stock radio and its a little better. Not great. I'm using Jedi rom now. I thought touch wiz Roms were based on the stock rom?

I'm on Jedi v.7 and have crystal clear call clarity.
Maybe it's a hardware defect.

We all know that the Gingerbread on T989 has severe MMS compression resulting in blurry/soft 15-20kb photos. ICS? FIXED. Absolutely full size, sharp, beautiful LARGE file sizes (150-200KB). However the current ICS roms we have like Chicago are extremely buggy (especially with wifi calling) and lacking basic things like music player, clock, etc (APKs). So I switched back to GB rom. But I hate the horrible soft/commpressed MMS. Can the ICS/T-mobile MMS be flashed over to a GB rom so pics are large and sharp again? Is there a certain flash someone can make to be flashed in CWM? Please can someone look into this? I am surprised there's not a 200-page thread on blurry mms or any hacks/fixes for it. It's obviously ALL in the software. It's not settings, etc. I really don't want to go back to ICS right now because of the infamous wifi-calling lag on it. Maybe someone can port over GB wifi calling to ICS? God that would be a PERFECT mod. GB wifi calling on ICS. then I would stick with Chicago's rom. (As long as he or someone else provided the stock T989 APKs for it like clock, music player, video player, news and weather, etc)
Check out digital warfare. I have had no issues sending beautiful pictures to my gf.

TDJ makes the best stuff... Chicago is just a kanged version of his work IMO.... It is a GB ROM and yes, the compression issue has been fixed... before I had TDJ's ICS as my DD, I rocked out Digital for a while...

Actually that base from kangkong is a whole bunch of kanged fixes from my rom. Which I normally don't mind sharing what I fix, or lead people in the right direction, but he straight kanged my stuff and had the audacity to talk trash about me and other devs. There was a big fiasco about with the mods involved. He then added a thanks to me in his change log, how sweet of him. So that base of lawstudent is a bunch of fixes done by me.. That's a fact

woah didnt know sucks dude.I dont get people here sometimes. Its one think to give credit and fix another to not only take but talk junk and even worse that its not the first time at least that someone has borrowed from you and proceeded to talk junk.
My mom calls me from her stock un-rooted Galaxy S III, and I can hear her just fine. However, she says she can barely be hear me, as my voice echoes. I'm not sure where to even start looking for this problem, any help please?
Thats a known issue on aosp roms like cm9 and cm10 some of the devs have work around for the echo, but its not always crystal clear, cm10 is verly new so there might be some echo.

Thanks! Back on 4.0.4 Jedi Knight for the time being.
@ Mods, please close! Thank-you!
So I'm not very familiar with this phone system, I am doing this for my sister. I recently installed CyanogenMOD-7.2.0 on her phone. The phone runs much better than when it was stock. (It is rooted and S-Off). The one issue she had stince gettng cyanogen on there was that the call volume (speaker volume too) was incredibly low. From reading I though that installing a different kernel would fix the issue. From what I read, the best AOSP Kernel for the incredible 2 was Tiamat. I went to
http://tiamat-dev.com/vivow/
I downloaded the latest gingerbread ROM Tiamat_Inc2-v1.1.5 to the external SD card. I wiped cache and davlik cache and flashed the kernel. Now there is no sound at all on the phone. NO call volume, No notifications, No media.
Any ideas what went wrong?
Any Suggestions on another kernel that will fix the sound issues?
Well a lot has changed since then. Tiamat is way outdated. Check out goo.im/devs/aeroevan/kernel/vivow. Grab v13 4.7 graphite.

Just so everyone can see, is an ICS kernel like this backwards compatible with the earlier Cyanogen ROMS?

The ICS kernel was made from the released Gingerbread kernel and hacked up by Aeroevan to work with ICS. It should be fine.

it was suggested not to try that though some did with no problem, I can't remember which kernel fixed that issue, it was only the latest cm that had the no sound issue, look at aeros post over on rootz, I believe it was a test kernel not in the op all others broke sound
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda app-developers app
So I finally got around to flashing this kernel.
Good news: The sound is awesome, much louder
badnews: camera and video playback are broken...
Any additional info on these problems? I haven't seen any other issues YET. Is this fixable with a different version of the Kernel you suggested in the earlier thread or do I need an entirely new kernel?
After a few tries it seems I've figured it out. I used the latest ICS Tiamat kernel Tiamat_VivoW-v031412 and there are no audio issues and the camera and video playback are working. If I run into any other issues I will be sure to post.
I know i might have asked this question before, but is there a fix for the speakerphone issue with AOSP/non-touchwhiz roms? i really like the roms but i cant live without speaker phone.
Get another ROM... Such big bugs can't be solved easily...
Sent from my mighty Xperia Arc S
ive mostly been using TW roms... but i want to try aokp/aosp roms again
Speakerphone always worked fine for me on aosp. If its too quiet use something like volume+ or voodoo to boost the volume
I like to break stuff!
i have flashed almost every popular rom/ soa, slim bean, aokp, cm.10, slimstar etc and call quality on all these is horrible. most people hang up within 10 seconds only shows 3g and h+ and if im lucky maybe a bar of signal. the only roms that have worked are deviant devs jedi roms, ie, jedi jelly, jmt, they work fine excellent call quality and full 4g bars but i would like to try others. any help is much appreciated.

The reason you have better quality sound in the second line of ROMs is because they're Samsung ROMs, you can try 2 things.
1) Enable Noise Suppression in the phone settings
OR
2) Flash the newest T-Mobile Radio UVMC6
The second option will give you outstanding quality, as for the signal bars H+ is 4G buddy. & if you only have one bar of signal then the area you're in doesn't have good signal.
