Ok ,so there is only one option on the Otterbox website.Does it fit both the GSM and CDMA Nexus or is it only for one device?
According to the model numbers on the cases one is designed for the GSM version and a separate is for CDMA. That being said, be wary with the otterbox defender as it has been reported to actually scratch that phone as the phone sits in the plastic shell and does have a tiny amount of room for movement.

Yup.
I noticed this instantly, mostly when plugging/unplugging the charger. Installed the oem extended battery and now it doesnt move. As well dirt/lint always managed to get in the otterbox and bugged the hell out of me when is stayed in the screen, added a zagg protector and it doesnt do that, kept the otterbox screen protector too.
I have the gsm version as well. I added a couple small strips of microfiber on the inside of the defender and installed a zagg screen protector. I also removed the OEM otter box screen protector. The setup works very nicely. No movement at all.

As far as I know, there isn't one. Last month Otterbox customer service confirmed to me via email that their Defender case for the Galaxy Nexus was designed for the Verizon version.
If there is a GSM version, I'd love to know about it.

No movement on mine
I bought this one from amazon and its the otterbox defender series,I have a sprint nexus. I have had no movement with my phone in the case it fits snuggly in there. I looked at ottbox.com and it was 50 bucks. While I do like the case and would pay that much, Its half the price on amazon.

Lol,I ordered mine from the same seller!Great to know there aren't any problems with it. Update:Just found out that the Sprint & Verizon stock batteries are 1850 mAh vs the GSM version @ 1750 mah.Shouldn't be much of a difference.
I decided to get the Kraken case instead. Its good so far and has no fitment issues with my GSM Galaxy Nexus.
Just received my Defender and I love this thing! Some of you were saying that the phone moves slightly but mine doesn't. Anyways, I'm not complaining. Thank you all for your help and advice

Just bought the purple version for my wife's phone. She beats the hell out of her phone so I figured the Defender would be the best choice. I'm really hoping there's no movement inside the case.

Hey everyone,
I've seen a couple of people say they received their Barely There cases, but no pictures or reviews. I attempted to contact Case-Mate via twitter along with others to ask when they were selling it since the case was already being sold through 3rd party channels. They stated those must be "preorders" as the cases aren't ready.
Well - I ordered one of these supposed "preorders" on eBay and the case arrived today... so much for Case-Mate knowing what's going on with their own product.
I did a video review you can see on YouTube here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joJ2...text=C241afUDOEgsToPDskK0QAnQlbjsSJm_K3Pq2wWK
I'd like to make it a point that I believe this was indeed made for the Verizon version since it just doesn't fit quite as tight and fitted as every previous Barely There case I have purchased. It's not a BAD fit, but it just isn't perfect. If you have any questions, let me know.
** Update **
After using the case for a bit, I have to say I am simply not satisfied with the fit. The phone doesn't feel right with this case and the difference in fit between the GSM and VZW version is too much for me. The fit just isn't nice enough to justify the price.
Thanks for the review. Was thinking of picking one of these up, but now that I know the 3rd-party vendors are selling the Verizon version, I'm going to wait until Case-Mate (hopefully) officially releases a GSM version.
Interesting I just received my pre order from Clove in the UK and it does seem as if it should be for a slightly thicker phone. It sticks up about 1mm around the sides of the screen. Checked the box and it says GSM version.
Not used these cases before any previous users, is this normal?

Have a look at this listing I found on eBay:
Case-mate Barely There Case for Samsung Galaxy Nexus i515/Nexus Prime i9250 - Wh
Feature 1 : Compatible: Samsung Galaxy Nexus i515/Nexus Prime i9250
That probably answers why the case wasn't snug fitting, it's made to accommodate the larger size of the i515 for Verizon.
I'm using one that I ordered from thecellguru and I don't see any issues with it. I'm definitely not worried about the phone coming out of the case accidentally and wouldn't really say that it fits loose.
The case does have a bit of a lip coming up higher than the screen, but most cases have that so in the event that you drop it screen-down the case will take some of the impact.
All in all I'm quite happy with the case, it has a good texture, not sticky/rubbery, is very thin and adds little bulk to the phone.
I ordered one, but I'm sending it back. Its definitely designed for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus
Its just slightly loose, and leaves small gaps for dust/dirt to creep in... Its a shame because these barely there cases are the best. Hopefully there will be a GSM 9250 variant in the future.
For Verizon GN users, this will be a great case. For GSM its just decent.

I have to say that after trying it for a bit I am rather disappointed with the fit. The phone is just too easy to flick off the case and doesn't feel nice and fitted like an authentic fitted Barely There case fits.
I can't recommend this for GSM GN's for the price.
Wonder if this case would work well with the extended battery, I'm thinking about getting the 2100 mah battery from VZ.
I want one of these but I dont think I will be getting this soon. I want it to be snug and fitting, how it should be.
I have the actual 'Barely There' case and I'm not completely satisfied with it. The fit doesn't feel or look right on the phone. I'm pretty sure if I ever dropped the phone the case would come flying off easily.

It would be nice to know if they show the Google logo. Not to be picky, but I'm proud to buy a Google phone and would like to have the Logo visible like you would see on the iPhone.
Looking at the Nexus S, I have the impression the Galaxy Nexus case will also be a fail.
My comment is listed on the site, where I hope they will respond.
There's one listed on eBay right now with free shipping. Only one pic though .

Here are a few of mine with an Otterbox Commuter. The fit is perfect. The volume and power buttons are easy to press and line up well. It adds a bit of bulk but i dont mind that.
I got the Zagg screen protector since the otterbox screen protector only covered the screen portion. The zagg is probably temporary since i leave on a holiday soon and it was available in stores. Its not too bad though with less orange peel than previous ones in my opinion but it does still feel rubbery.

I walked into a Bell store in Mississauga, Ontario last friday and picked one up. I was surprised to see that they had it in stock since the Otterbox website itself said that it was coming soon. The bell website says that they are available to order online I think. It feels great and i would highly recommend one.
can you remove the screen protector that's preinstalled with otterbox?
Yup, the screen protector is just a separate dry application protector. It doesn't cover the entire front face since its cut out to only cover the screen portion and not the entire front face like the zagg. I had it on there for a couple of days. It was actually pretty good but when sliding down the notification bar you would always feel the screen protector edge which was annoying. It came off very easily and left no residue when i replaced it with the zagg.
The actual case doesn't have a front protector, i believe the defender cases have those, not the commuter.
Regarding the zagg, it feels less rubbery now after using it for a while and i actually like it. I'm sure that the many options available online might be better and cheaper but i needed one right away and i think they have improved on them a bit.

Where are you located? The Verizon stores in Utah are being assholes about accessories, lying to me when I ask for them.
"we don't have any cases or accessories for that device yet"
Liars.
I'm in Wisconsin. I walked in and said I was looking for nexus accessories. The guy was lime we don't have the phones for sale yet. I said I know, I just want accessories cuz I have one. Once I showed them they were not so impressed cuz I use it with att. The guy said we have them in back, let me see if they ring up. They did so they gave me all kinds of stuff to pick from. Got a dash mount for driving, screen protectors, a tpu case, an otter box defended, and a bad ass incipio double protection.

Just bought the extended battery at Verizon for half off, also walked out with the Incipio double case. This case feels tough and sure can take s beating, great for outdoor work and kids dropping my phone. But this case is a little too thick for my liking.
But on weekends or going out would like a second thinner case. What thin cases fit the extended battery ? Anything like the Feather or Rearth slim fit ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I just use ghost armor full body, and then I use a belt clip pouch that I drop my phone into. It is the slimmest option, I protect the whole phone from scratches, and I can keep it on my side. I'm not really worried about dropping it, because even with a case if you drop it in the right spot, you will end up with a broken phone. That's what insurance is for. At least that's my opinion. I hope this helps.
I just picked up the Diztronic case below and it fits great and doesn't add much thickness to the phone- nice and thin. I don't have my extended battery yet but per the reviews this case fits, just a little more tightly which is fine with me.

+1 on the Diztronic 3rd revision case. I am running it and I love it. I have 3 other cases and this is now my daily driver. You can even leave the extended battery cover on too. I use the Incopio when I need extra protection.
Also a big +1 on the Diztronic rev 3 case. Full access to all controls, full protection yet thin. Just about perfect as far as cases go and I have tried a few.

I've been bugging Rearth about making their RingKe case to fit the Verizon w/ extended battery. This case has been getting a lot of accolades here...
With the Verizon extended battery going for $24.99, it should just come standard with the phone. At such a cheap price, and only adds like a business card extra thickness it is so worth it. Plus you may get up to 2 extra hours on it over stock.
Point being, with extended battery so popular, I would hope case companies realize this, and pump out cases that are officially designed for it.

My local Verizon store didn't have any in stock but they ordered it for me w/ free 2-day shipping. Still $24.99
I went into the biggest Verizon store in my area, called first asked if they had the Nexus extended battery, they said YES, and tons of accessories too. Go in there and they said the battery is 50% off, they had like 4 on the shelf. Just call the largest Verizon store in your area, I am sure they stock them.
I am using the phone today with no case, crosses fingers The Incipio 2pc case was just way too bulky for me, felt like a my old EVO 4G which was a giant. Back to caselsss and this phone looks awesome, the gray color makes this phone looks stealth, like something a pilot from F-22 Raptor plane would have in the cockpit I just want a razor thin case to go around this now.
Oddly enough I tried the High gloss silicone Verizon case and its is really nice. feels thin in the hand
I use the SGP capsule case. Its clearly designed for the GSM version because my Verizon + extended battery keeps the lips from grabbing the edges all the way.
But the phone is on there and not going anywhere. You'd have to really look at it to see what I'm talking about.
I'm still waiting for something specifically designed for the Verizon with extended battery.

Does anyone know if the Diztronic case works with the GSM Galaxy Nexus with an extended battery?
The best case I've tried period that also works with the extended battery is the Case-Mate Pop case. It was recalled initially due to a lack of clearance around the micro usb port. In about another two weeks they'll have the second revision out and it will be my daily driver.
I've tried the Case-Mate Tough Case, the Boxwave Active, the Boxwave Slim Rubberized Shell Case, and the Seidio Surface. The Pop case sucked less than the rest and fits the extended battery with good protection and minimal bulk.
can't comment if it's the thinnest, but it fits and looks good.

so as you guys know , I made the review for the defender and now its time for the commuter!
Very sleek, sexy and portable case. Minimum bulk while delivering great protection. A little slippery on the back but i can handle that
For me..ill take this case over the defender any day of the week.
Enjoy!
http://youtu.be/cm1qbkTA-2A
I got mine a few days ago and it's great. It doesn't make the phone to bulky at all and looks and feels great.
I convinced my brother to buy one after I dropped (test) it shoulder-high on the ceramic floor, twice. Still shiny new. The past reviews that I read were pushing me away from the commuter but I can honestly say it delivers protection and it's not that bulky. It doesn't pick up that much dust, and my phone is always in and out of my pocket. also, when you get the hang of it, you can put the case and remove it in 2 seconds. I don't know why people were hating on it. I don't use the extended batteries, gsm.
Has anyone crammed a VZW Gnex with the extended battery into the Commuter? Right now I'm just using a cheapo gel skin, but I'm in and out of the case a lot and it's starting to stretch.
Those cases make me cringe. Such beautiful phones being destroyed by cases.

Honestly Im a HUGE fan of rocking my phone naked..however I cant afford a new phone every time I drop it (and with my dropping skills it happens pretty often). Thats why i stick with the thinnest cases possible that still give good protection (sgp, diztronic, commuter, etc)

Same here. If you choose not to cover your phone, that is your given right. However, when you have an unlocked device you're running a big enough risk as it is.

i had the commuter for my captivate and decided to try one for my gnex but returned it. it is one of the best fitting dual layer case that ive tried but i dont like how the outer hard shell is so slippery and the lines down it make it look cheap. the case was just as slippery as the naked gnex.
i bought the incipio silicrylic instead, it doesnt fit at tight as the commuter but is a bit thinner since the lip is not as high. the silicrylic feels so much better to hold with its rubber coating on the hard shell and exposed silicon on the sides and top. another downside is the incipio attracts more dirt than the commuter but its not as bad as some people say.
I had this case...pushing the buttons thru the case was a pain so I returned it! And pulling the battery is a true *****! In terms of protection, its great though! No doubt! I don't use a case anymore but I highly recommend if you're in the US to just go to ur local Verizon store and grab an incipio, fits better and pushing the buttons are easy! Plus they give u a stand too! Although I returned that also cuz this phone is too sexy and sleek to cover up, in my opinion of course!

I bought my GNex slightly used (1 month old), the previous owner had the Commuter one the GNex from day one, which was cool because I knew I was buying a used device that was most likely to be in mint condition... and it was. It has GREAT protection and IMO the corners having the interlining exposed was a great design because if/when you drop the phone, it's most likely to land on a corner first.
THAT said however... I'm currently NOT using it and decided to go with something slimmer ONLY because I've developed a habit of typing ONLY with Swype with ONE hand, it started when I had the Nexus ONE... and I got pretty good at it... The problem is... the GNex being bigger, Swyping with one hand is now more of an effort because I don't have big hands. WITH the Commuter case, it was simply more work... I'm keeping the Commuter for now, and would totally still be using it if it wasn't for the Swype thing.
Picked up an Incipio Silicrylic for my (GSM) Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Great form factor & snug fit for a Hybrid case. Its build quality is top notch as we've come to expect from Incipio. The case offers good protection & can handle most mid range impacts. I had a friend try it on his Sprint GNex and I must say that it wasn't a perfect fit. Even though most sites say it's compatible with the CDMA version.(It's NOT) but is capable of handling the extended battery for the GSM version.
Anymore pics from your phone? How's the silicone on the bottom part? Floppy? Sturdy? Does it collect much dust?
The silicon is actually pretty sturdy and it's not that prone to being ripped. I have all black version, and it collects dust like mad..

I have this case on the LTE verizon GN, and it works great.
I often use the official extended battery, though it is a somewhat tight fit for this case. As noted for the GSM extended battery above, it does push the bottom of the case out a bit, so there is a slight gap. Removing the battery cover will get rid of the gap, but I tend to leave the cover on and ignore the gap.

The lint attraction is pretty much non-existant. Gets an A+ on that subject. As for the screen protector Incipio includes with the case. It's terrible, very cheap. I actually threw it out. But the case overall is one of the best I've used and I've spent a small fortune looking for solid cases. Incipio has proven to be a great brand.

My friend has this on her Nexus. I felt like it made it too bulky for my liking. But it's definitely a great case that gives good protection.
I bought the grey and white one which i really like. To bad the black one would attrack dust and lint just by looking at it to hard!
My GF has this case on the Verizon GNexus and it fits really well. Well made and the smoother backing makes it easier to pocket. Silicone does collect some dust but since its so little surface area, its not that bothersome. It seems like it would really protect well but I'm not going to test that out!

So, I ordered finally a trident perseus orange, looks good, have heard that doesn't give bulk to GNEX and provides light drop protection. In fact there is a discount at tridenteer.com 25% and free shipping in the US, I ordered it to Poland and payed 15$ with shipping over the ocean! Maybe I'll make some review after I got it
