Mobi-Lens - General Accessories

Check out this lens adapter. I ordered one. The best part is, it should work with your next phone too. I posted in the Galaxy S3 forum, but I think it is probably more of a general accessory. I don't normally post, but I thought this was very interesting!

Can you post some pictures on and on the phone???

Very cool idea. Most lens implementations so far have depended on a case or a lack thereof, or were built with only one device in mind. I'd only be worried about the pressure of a clothespin on the screen, but then I handle my phone like a piece of fine china.

no way...

I'm not sure I would want to pinch that thing onto my phone either. Let us know how it works if you get it

so i just checked out mobi-lens..
FINALLY a photo attachment i can USE with my Android that doesnt use those damn magnets.
this looks legit, love the idea of clothespin, very adaptable so im in $60 for a combo pack!!
I noticed on their final product images, the clips have foam on the tip and the coils on the spring doesnt seem like it has much pressure. Its like a chip-bag clips spring.
The photos on their KS page look solid, even with a case on still looks decent.
I cant say it enough how i love the idea of being able to use it on anything. I own a Galaxy S3 and a Galaxy tablet and now I can use this clip on lens for photos and not lug my DSLR for daily hikes and bike rides.
:good::good::good:

Got my lenses today
Got my lenses today. I got the combo pack. They are awesome and really work as advertised. Can't wait to really get out and shoot some pics. So far they work on my cases great. Love that I don't have to take my phone out of the case to use them. The part that actually touches your phone is soft silicone like material. Not worried at all that is will damage my phone. Now I can use these on all my devices!!! So awesome.
Here is their website now. Since Kickstarter promo is finished.

$30? I ordered a similar product from eBay for around $8... haven't got it yet, so it might be garbage.
I wonder how they will compare.

Awesome folio case for under $25

Hey guys,
I've been prowling around these sectors ever since I got my Xoom, searching for the perfect case.
What I wanted:
The flexibility of the Zoogue case really appealed to me - I like the idea of being able to choose the angle of viewing. I also wanted any case to be able to be able to provide a setting for only a slight tilt when I wanted to type.
BUT the high price tag really put me off.
Also, I wanted it to be pretty thin. The Xoom is big enough without me adding to its bulk.
After much searching, I think I found the perfect one, so I thought I'd share my experiences (Here's the link where I bought it from: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-Fo...Accessories&hash=item3f0a05cb28#ht_3816wt_947)
Firstly, the price tag attached to this thing is ridiculously awesome. At first, I bought it thinking 'why not? it's less than $25!', but the product turned out to be even more awesome.
Firstly, it's really thin, but covers the tablet nicely. Secondly, to a certain extent, you can also choose what viewing angle you want, which is awesome. I say to a certain extent, because after a while, you run out of cover to stick the velcro on (have a look at the attached picture)
All the cutouts are there, but you can't charge with the case closed. I don't think this is a problem, because the cover folds back on itself nicely, so you can keep it open to charge. Which brings me to the next plus: it's designed so that it folds back on itself and it's actually pretty comfortable to hold in portrait mode (I've heard that this isn't the case with the official Moto one).
The only minor flaw I've found is that on mine, the top left corner is slightly higher than the top right - what this means is that the front-facing camera is covered ever so slightly by the strip of leather running under it. The picture I attached kind of exaggerates it a bit; it's not that bad. When I booted up the front-facing camera, there's just a line across the very bottom of the image. I'm not sure if this is on all their cases, so it might just be mine.
One more note: When I first heard about cases using velcro, I immediately wondered if the velcro would wear out over time, like in some of my bags. If you're also wondering that, then don't worry! This doesn't use the traditional velcro. You know how traditionally, the fuzzy part has all the loops and the the other part would like... 'hook' onto it and that's how it stuck? Well, this uses a different sort... one that looks like it won't wear out easily. Also, this case is pretty damn sturdy when you've got it propped up. I've tested this out extensively, and even when poking at the screen with a fair bit of force, it never topples.
Finally, before anyone asks: no, I'm not in any way affiliated with the seller, I'm just one super-happy customer. Even though it says it's free shipping, they still provided tracking for me. They even took a picture of the package before they sent it off and sent that to me, which was an eBay first. Plus, the person dealing with the emails just seems really nice, based on the correspondences I've had.
So pretty much, this case is amazing (for me, anyway). I don't think it's real leather, but for under $25, I wasn't expecting it. Plus, real leather is a ***** to take care of, anyway. Whether you need this case will probably come down to what you want out of a case, but this one has been pretty versatile for me (I've had it for about a month now).
EDIT: I didn't realise how much I wrote.... can you tell I'm procrastinating?
EDIT2: I forgot to add that there's even a magnet that holds the cover closed. It's not too strong but not too weak, either. Quite nifty, actually!

Nope, there's nothing on the screen area at all. That's my matte screen protector that I bought off eBay. It was the cheapest one I could find and it actually works quite well!
i got this one. will post pics and give feedback as soon as i got it.
Well, I really like it myself, so it'll be interesting to hear feedback from other people too.
And daaaang it, it's on sale now (I hate when things go on sale after I buy it!) Oh well, it was already cheap to begin with

Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard Case

Hi guys. I am really interested in buying one of these.
http://www.dodgybastards.co.nz/bluetooth-keyboard-case-for-10-1-galaxy.html
I was wondering if any of you guys own this? If anyone does would you mind giving me your opinion on this case?
There seem to be next to no reviews of this case out there whereas there are a lot of reviews about the zagg and Logitech cases. Unfortunately those brands oonly sell cases for ipad here in new zealand. Thanks
I own this and am quite happy with it. Looks good and the keyboard is a joy to type on.
Two things I'm not very happy about are weight (unavoidable, I guess) and, mostly, that there is no way to use it with the tab in portrait mode. Oh, and I think it is a tad too expensive.
I would have bought the Logitech, if only I could. For the portrait mode. But I don't at all regret having bought the Samsung.
You can see the thing in action on Youtube (mind you, in Italian). I was going to post the link but, as a new user, I can't. Search for "Tastiera originale Samsung per Galaxy Tab 8.9 e 10.1"

thanks for your reply mate, really appreciate it. yeh its a tad expensive isnt it, thats why I wanted some opinions before buying it. I never use my tablets in potrait mode, unless I am reading a comic which is very rare. the 10.1 just looks silly in potrait if you ask me lol
Also, I usually prefer to have it on my lap rather than on desks, does the stand sit stable on laps? because the stand kinda looks weak and unstable. I know it'll be fine on desks and tables but does it slide around when in your lap?
The stand is indeed very flimsy. OK for a table or desk, provided we don't push or pull the keyboard. As for a lap, I hadn't even considered it. Well, I just tried and... no. Absolutely not.
It is sort of possible to forget about the stand and leave the tablet flat. Requires one hand to hold it or it will hit the floor in no time. Not practical at all.
After I bought the Samsung case, I saw a Logitech look-alike on Amazon UK. I wouldn't really risk buying one now because: 1) I already own a very nice keyboard case, and 2) the only sellers offering it have appalingly low ratings. Still, if it works as advertised and one could find a reputable source...
Again, no links. But try searching for "Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Aluminum Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab10.1"...

hey thanks for the link bro. I've owned similar cases for other tablets before and I really dont like the rubber keyboards on them.
oh and I went ahead and bought the samsung keyboard dock instead of the keyboard case. the dock is great. since it has got the 30 pin connector, the tab slots right in and you dont have to worry about it falling. and most importantly the dock sits stable on my lap and I can type just like a normal laptop. it doesnt move around. I really like it
omg that one is too expensive dude..
maybe you can check Apple bluetooth Keyboard.. quite good man. it's light, good materials and 100% compatible.
Logitech bluetooth keyboard is a very good choice aswell.
good luck bro.
I have the Zagg case and it is pretty great. I also have the Samsung white keyboard which is almost perfect except that it will revert to the Samsung on screen keyboard after using it . This is a pain since I use touchpal.
The new OEM keyboard case looks handsome but not as useful as Zagg.

Yes, it can. There's four little rubber stops that keep the keys off the screen when closed that double as feet when fold the keyboard under the way you described. And while yes, it's pricey, it's the slimmest, best fitting, and best made of the keyboard cases out there.
I purchased the official case cover a few days ago from Samsung. I am shocked about how few reviews there have been online. I could not find a decent video review. I am hoping that the build quality is decent, as my Zagg keyboard (Zaggfolio) broke - the space bar no longer works. I will probably take the replacement keyboard they sent me and sell it on ebay.
By the way, I saved 15% by using the coupon code: Samsung#1 on the Samsung.com website and got free next day air shipping.

Here is my review of the Samsung OEMKeyboard case.
Pro's
Very light, form fitting, well designed. Easy to type on.
Con's
No touchpad, no sd port, no built in battery, pretty expensive, cannot really use effectively in the portrait mode.
Overall, this is clearly superior to the Zaggfolio. .. but pales in comparison to the Asus Transformer keyboard (which is the same MSRP).

Just got this case today and I must say I am completely happy with this purchase.
It literally turns your tablet into a laptop.
Duqjag complains about not having a touch pad however the entire screen is a touch pad which would make a little square panel obsolete and difficult to use.
My only quarms with this keyboard is the left shift key being so small that you'll find yourself with a lot of \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ on your screen when trying to capitalize a letter.
Also if there were a way to make certain trigger keys customizable this would enhance the experence too. e.g. the mail button opens the mail app as opposed to the google mail app. Internet button opens the stock browser as opposed to Opera or dolphin.
It stands up on almost every surface without issue and if you fold the keyboard over it also acts as a bottom panel to keep the screen in a face up position.
Vertically it doesnt work but do laptops????
Fork out the cash I say and enjoy the ride. As tablets get better internally, 10.1 will still be a dimension samsung keeps using so i can confidentally say that this case will be transferable to newer models.
Hi,
I've got the Samsung BT-Keyboard-Case here in Germany for a really affordable price - 57,- €, and it is worth every cent. The look and feel of the case is noble, but durable, and when I carry it arround here at my college the I-Thing-users get possessive.
It has a built-in recharable battery which lasts for some 3 days. I use it flipped over as a night stand at my bed, listening to Tune-in radio, I work with it every day, and the cover protects the case perfectly.
The only con is that it doubles the weight of the pure tab, but I really can say that I am happy with it and would always buy it again.
I am looking for keyboard as well, want something nice, shineny neath, but inexpensive. (Not sure it does exist )
Are those aluminum bluetooth keyboard on ebay and amazon so useless? Any suggestion pls.
If i can not find any good review on those no brand keyboard i might have to buy logitech and it costs fortune

Flygrip?

I'm waiting for mine to arrive at the doorstep. Will update upon receipt.
Plenty of reviews and free shipping code here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423613
This could be useful for me. I'm starting to get a little RSI in my right thumb. This looks like it would support it.
I have had the flygrip for ~6 months. I really like it.
lt broke the other day. I emailed the Flygrip folks and they said it was due to a design flaw. They sent me a new one with the new revised design. Free of charge.
It is really useful. Helps to have a secure hold on your device. And also doubles as a landscape kickstand. Because the galaxy note is so big, the device will not stand in portrait with the kickstand. It just topples over.
It folds flat. Fairily flat. Only 7-8mm.
Mine just came in today I suggest if you get one use some duct tape (or another type of tape) to stick it in back. That way you can get a better feel for where you want it and don't waste one sticky.
Cause that's what I just did.
But other than that it's comfortable, quick to open, and once you stick your fingers in it a few times (heehee) it becomes very nice!
I don't use a case (even though they offer a free one for my phone) So it's nice to have a better hold on my phone.
I'm going to buy another one in a few months for my friends.

Hello, I noticed that you may want a kickstand that will help stand your Galaxy Note better. I have developed one that might be just the ticket for you - although not designed as a grip, with the blade open, it can be used to give yourself a better grip - see this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208873

Take a short strip of packing tape and fold over one end so that you have something to grip if you want to take it off - it will have less adhesive goo on your device to clean off - that's what I did when I was first testing correct placement on my kickstand4u tm

It's hard to hold in bed, I use my kickstand4u tm like a flygrip, but I find my arm gets tired holding my GS3 like that, which is pretty lightweight let alone trying to hold my Samsung Tab 7.0 Plus over my head for that long, I know I would still drop it on my face and with the weight of my arm attached, I'd probably knock myself out LOL!
You just got to either have a strong arm to hold in that position for a long time or set it on a bedside nightstand and do the reading that way.
So using a kickstand that was designed for all mobile devices as a true kickstand rather than a flygrip that can be used as a kickstand for small devices like a phone, this might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087034

Green Ranger - Thank you!
I prefer the flygrip because i use it for the one handed solution mostly, and for the issues with portrait orientation, flygrip made a Gravity model designed for devices that are big. its on my note2 WITH the Otterbox Defender case. so far its wonderful, but i do like the idea of the kickstand4u.

The water proof thread

So to kick it off, I've got two "pouches" that are supposed to be watertight. I haven't checked if they are actually water proof, but I can say something about the fit (or misfit).
1. Had the Hagløfs Watatait for the S1. Plastic made it impossible to insert the phone. I had to use a metallic case on the phone to get it in the pouch.
The S3 have the same problem. Its slightly less "clingy", but edges on phone get stuck before fully inserted. There is no room for a phone with case.
2. Got the Overboard case from mobilefun. S3 slides nicely into the pouch. Locking feels safe enough, to the point of being over-engineered. The clear plastic window is slightly small, making it hard to pull down the notification menu. Also a bit fiddly to find the power and volume buttons.
Its also a very tight fit. I suspect its made for the iphone, with room for protection for that phone. Any case that offer enough protection for the S3 make it too big for this pouch.
So anyone else have a watertight pouch case they want to share with the rest of us?
I'm a biker, after much trial and error I found the Northcore surfing cases and bought one for my old phone (Desire). Got my S3 today and while tight it does fit the bare phone with no problems and leaves it easily operable. I usually have the phone strapped to my left forearm and have some capacitive thread stitched into the index finger of the right glove and a bluetooth headset for sound. Add in Tasker to deal with automation and it makes the phone really easy to use.
This is the beastie:
CLICKY
I'm hoping Liquidpel will be available for this device. http://www.liquipel.com/
Basically they coat the entire phone + internals with hydrophobic material, that way even when water gets into the phone, it remains working.
I used a waterproof pouch when I was on my last cruise. Put my epic touch in it and went snorkeling for hours with it in my pocket. It was under water the whole time, no leaks. I bought it from Amazon.com.

The tight fit is a problem, to be ideal, it should be room for something like Otterbox defender or Ballistic-whatever-its-name-was. A drop in one of the pouches with bare phone is nearly as bad as a drop of the bare phone, and SIII doesn't take a lot of abuse on its own.
So looking for something with a bit more room, that still have decent opening to operate the screen.
I suspect you'll have problems finding anything that big, the S3 isn't a small handset to start with and by the time it's cased up it doubles the bulk.
Good luck :good:
If your looking for waterproof bag i have been using a type of waterproof ziplock for years. its called Aloksak. I have swam across rivers a few time and my gear in it is always dry.
Its certified waterproof to 60 metres and tested by the Navy Diving Unit.
I got mine through amazon and there are alot of sizes some even can fit a rifle. I have some that are really beat up scratches and stretch marks from sharp object and they are not even leaking.
Screen is 100% usable and its dirt cheap.
I am looking for a decent water proof case myself. I have ran across the drycase from drycase.com and have contacted them in an attempt to verify that the s3 will fit in the standard case without having to get the tablet sized one.
It does not offer drop protection however they say its rated to 100 feet (30 meters) so i should be able to take this on a 40 foot reef dive.
I really want to get rid of my camera housing as its for an old sony 5mp camera that barely works anymore.
Drycase
I just received my Drycase from Amazon. So far here are my thoughts on it with the S3. I have never owned a waterproof case like this before so perhaps some of these issues are common to cases like this. Keep in mind I have only had the case for a couple hours so these are just my initial impressions.
1. It is a little difficult to get the phone into and out of the case. It sticks to the plastic sides of the case.
2. Although the Drycase sales rep told me that the S3 would fit in the case and it does for the most part, it is hard to get it far enough into the case so that you can connect the headphone adapter and still have it be out of the way of the top black flap and closing mechanism.
3. Once the phone is in the case and the air is pumped out, the plastic sides of the case fit pretty tight to the body of the phone. This is nice as it makes the screen easy to see, however it also makes the volume and power buttons on the sides of the case difficult to press. I was trying to use the case to take underwater photos and video and because you can not use the touch screen when underwater I mapped the volume down button to the camera shutter, but it was difficult to press this button when the phone was in the case.
4. When the headphone/microphone jack inside the bag is connected to the phone any sound you record with a video will not be recorded since I assume the internal microphone is disconnected. So if you want sound with video you would need to either not plug in the internal cable or connect an external mic. Not a big deal for shooting underwater but if you are going to be moving between above and below water you may want to just leave this cable disconnected.
Anyone seen or tried this pouch?

How do you get the headphone line out of the OB pouch? The one with integrated headphone jack looks interesting. Maybe the Note-sized pouch is big enough for a S3 with a Ballistics case. Worth a try?
I forgot what its called but I seen a website that will take apart your phone and water proof the components so you don't have to have a waterproof case on. Just take the bare phone swimming with you n you're good

I forgot what its called but I seen a website that will take apart your phone and water proof the components so you don't have to have a waterproof case on. Just take the bare phone swimming with you n you're good

How do you get the headphone line out of the OB pouch? The one with integrated headphone jack looks interesting. Maybe the Note-sized pouch is big enough for a S3 with a Ballistics case. Worth a try?

REVIEW: LG G Pad 8.3 Generic TPU "X-Style" Case

Hi everyone, I've FINALLY received this case from AliExpress:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1pcs...Soft-back-case-for-LG-G-Pad-8/1532446130.html
As promised, here's a YouTube Video Review.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV0AN_YhXpw
TL;DR verdict: It's cheap, it's black, and overall it works well. Fit is solid, all ports work out (except the SD card slot, which is covered - but that's hardly a dealbreaker), and it doesn't add any significant weight. Does not interfere with the speakers.
Would buy, but not from AliExpress. No fault to the vendor (who was pleasantly responsive to my inquiries), but on eBay you can now pick it up for $6 CDN shipped.
Thanks for reading and watching!

Fellow Canuck here who bought the tablet in the USA at bestbuy. Where did you get yours?
Have you tried to use the remote? Seems only US cable providers are listed. Same for you?

Mine was also sourced from the States as Newegg in Canada didn't have it at the time, Best Buy here STILL doesn't, and $259 USD on sale was worth the trouble of getting it brought up here by a family member.
The Quick Remote app DOES work on my Telus cable setup. I used the AT&T option and it works just fine. I don't know if Rogers, etc. would work, but one of the options just might be an equivalent. Good luck!

Ah, so you're out East.. I don't think Vidéotron equipment is any different than those used in the States, nor would it be unique to Quebec or wherever you are. I suggest just going through the available selections and see if one works for you. That's what I did.

Telus digital cable. I'll check the make of the box, but honestly the best thing is to cycle through the available options in the Q Remote. I found AT&T compatibility within two minutes, though to be fair I went alphabetically.

Did that and found 2cable companies that worked. Weird that thistablet still has not been released in canada where lg traditionally sells well.I imagine there will need to be a Canadian version of the lg software to include Canadian cable companies. Right now there are 3versions of the firmware. A,C,E. Am guessing it's American Europe and China.

By the way how it's your battery life.that and the little blue line are my only issues and they are not enough for me to consider returning this tablet. Had a nexus 7 2013 model beforewhich had brighter screen but I lost it forgetting it on the airplane. Having a note 3I felt the nexus 7was too similar in size. This is the perfect size for a tablet. Wish there were more accessories. Bought the ivso case and will use that when I need to but prefer it caselessSri if they ever had a case cover like the iPad mini would love that

Drifting from topic, but my battery life is about the same as most reviews. I haven't put it through any rigorous testing, but when watching movies or YouTube on the unit it holds up any two hours in a row that I'd need it, I have it plugged in while at my desk at work, and standby time is awesome. I noticed the blue line, but I had to look really, REALLY hard for it so in practice it's not an issue for me. No appreciable light bleed either. I use it indoors so brightness isn't a huge issue, but for the list price it should have been brighter.
This is a keeper for me - I'm keeping this case as well and may get the IVSO in Red when it becomes available on Amazon.ca in a couple months. I miss a cover for the actual screen on this thing, but as long as I'm not outside or traveling (I *do* travel for work, so we'll see in the long run) this will do just fine.

Hey guys,
Nice review Mark! I was looking to get a silicon case quickly and this was the cheapest to do that so I got one from eBay, shipping from Germany to the UK and it's already been dispatched so should be here next week sort of time. I got it in red and will have some photos up when it arrives.
The VOIA case looks nice but, I will see how this one turns out before I get that guy, I have done the whole folding cover thing with the N7 and they never got used so I will stick with silicon this time around
Tom.
No worries Toyface! I've had the TPU case for a week now and have already taken it on a business trip with me. I find it unobtrusive and very comfortable to hold in one hand, with the grippy texture on the back. The volume and power buttons are not tougher to use at all. I've even gotten used to the fingerprints on the shiny parts. The ONLY downside is that on some of the USB plugs I've used since the video, some of them do deform the rubber on the lip a little. I doubt this will be a long term issue though, it springs right back when I unplug it.
On real-life bumps: when the tablet slid off of a chair during an airplane landing (my bad, it was sitting on my coat and fell off as the plane was braking), it landed face down and had no damage. Incidentally, my headphone jack was plugged in and while the jack was bent, the tablet was undamaged and kept working with the earphones. Point LG!
Finally, when I carry this thing around outside, I use a slipcase for an old Acer netbook. Not the most ideal shape, and I may get a more form-fitting one eventually, but it works. It's to the point where I may not get the IVSO / generic flip case after all, as this is working just fine for me.
Please post some pics of your red version when you get it!
Mark
So, my case arrived a couple of days ago. Post from Germany to England was very good and the eBay seller (phonenatic) was pretty great really.
So far,I think the case is pretty good, but I hate the color. It's supposed to be red, but in reality it's more pinkish than anything else. Cutouts are all good (as you see in the photos) and it has thick lip around the screen so landing flat shouldn't be too bad there. This one came with two screen protectors, I fitted one then removed it a day later, I just hate screen protectors. it was very easy to get on there though.
Tom.
Thanks for posting those pics! You're right, with the white version of the G Pad in there the red is muted somewhat to look more pinkish... I'm wondering if it'd look darked with a black version in there.
