Did Samsung forget they made the Galaxy Nexus? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I just got the Sprint Galaxy Nexus about a month ago, and I really want the pogo dock: model EDD-D1F8BEBSTD. Every search/link to the Samsung website pulls up 404. I was able to get the portrait dock through Sprint, but that blocks my damned headphone jack. I have a bluetooth headset in the meanwhile, but this is ridiculous. Anyone have any news as to why 1) Samsung has disavowed all knowledge pertaining to anything Galaxy Nexus, and 2) when could we expect any of the CDMA accessories to return to stock?

I actually just emailed Samsung about the pogo dock. I mentioned in the email that the Samsung product page for the pogo dock pulls up a 404.
When you email them with a support question you have to select the model that you are inquiring about and the Verizon Galaxy Nexus wasn't listed anywhere, I found that kind of interesting.

It might have something to do with Samsung being more like the manufacture and Google is the boss when it comes to Nexus devices.
Samsung's flagship phones are the Note and the Galaxy S line.
Don't quote me on this though

But if you search "Nexus" on the Samsung website, you'll get the Nexus S in results. Nothing for Galaxy Nexus.

They have the pogo dock on the Google Play store. Works with T-Mobile, and I expect it would work with Sprint. I've seen a couple of site where they've sanded the back to get the dock to accommodate the slightly thicker VZW GNex.

Sprint's is CDMA, so it is the same accessories as Verizon, sadly.

Google Wallet?

Anyone know if Google Wallet will be able to be ported over to the Galaxy Nexus? I'm going to miss being able to use my phone to pay for things, as I've grown somewhat accustomed to being able to do it. lol I love going to Dairy Queen, or Best Buy, or the drug store and just tapping my phone. I'd love to be able to do it on the Galaxy Nexus.

Should not need to be ported, GNex has NFC
NFC is just a chip. You still need the software to use it. For example, I used Google Wallet on my Nexus S (which has a NFC chip). Without software to use the NFC chip with, it's useless. In other words, you have to have some sort of payment software on the phone in order to make use of the NFC as a form of payment.

NFC is a chip. Google Wallet is an app that lets you use NFC for payments.
For example, only the Sprint Nexus S 4G officially has google wallet. The T-mo Nexus S doesn't. Neither do the SGSII varieties with NFC.
OP, I'd assume that once they have it working for ICS they'll make it happen with an update, but I'm not sure whats holding them from just launching with it.... then again they still haven't given it to the T-mo Nexus S lol so idk what's going on.
I'm really looking forward to Google Wallet too.
While there has been no official announcement, I don't ever think the Verizon version will ever see Google Wallet. Verizon has teamed up with T-Mobile and AT&T to put together Isis, a competitor to Google Wallet. Thats why we only see Google Wallet or Sprint.

Well I have a T-mobile Nexus S that I use Google wallet on. Of course it isn't officially supported, but they ported it over from the Sprint Nexus S. I was just holding out hope that it might be possible to bring it to the Galaxy Nexus. lol of course this is just a hope. I'm not sure what libs or framework is needed for it to work.

Yeah you would think that "officially" you'd be able to do it. Heck all Google would have to do is just put the app in the market to be downloaded and they wouldn't have to deal with the carriers at all (I think lol). But hey, gotta love the guys here at XDA, that got us around all that and brought it to the tmobile nexus. I'm just hoping it can be done on the Galaxy Nexus too.
Consider yourselves lucky that you can even use a hacked version on your phones.
What about us poor saps in Australia who can install the app and use it, but can't add any funds to it. I really don't understand why Google choose to operate like this.

Perhaps there are legal issues with it. I have no idea. I just wish a standard would be established already so that we can use it in our day to day. I love using my phone to pay for things! lol

Is wallet available outside the US? If not, then it may not be on the gsm version since it's not being sold in the states.

It's a US-only service, yes. It's just an app so nothing is stopping them from supporting it on the GSM/HSPA version.
I thought the Google Wallet app just makes sure the credit card data travels a save way from the NFC sender to NFC receiver. I don't see how it'd be US-centric, when there's no mobile data involved in the transaction, since Google said that it doesn't require a data connection.
Also, I've read people in Germany using their German T-Mobile Nexus S to pay at the very few Paypass terminals in that country.

I meant it as in "the service is currently available in the US only". As far as I know Google has only officially launched the service in the US as of yet. That could just have been a marketing thing though. I'm not sure if it works fine if a seller outside the US just plugs in a comatible NFC-enabled terminal.
Actually, the relevant standard is called Paypass and used outside of the US. In Europe, there's various sort of cards being distributed by Visa, Mastercard and sorts. But apparently there's a RFID version of Paypass, and a superset that does NFC. The current distributed cards are RFID. But there appear to be NFC capable terminals in at least Germany.
From what I could gather, Google Wallet does Paypass NFC. It seems mostly a matter of getting it to install and run on a phone that's not the Spring Nexus S.

Interesting. So it's nothing specific needed on the merchant's side other than an NFC-compatible paypass terminal? How does the service work software wise? They could very well have limits on the cards you can use it with.

This is the same thing that I was thinking. This is supposed to be the flagship device...you'd think it would already have Wallet on it...or at least have it available.
Here's a 17-yo Brit's contribution to this (and his first ever to the Android communication - received my first Android phone 3 days ago!):
Google Wallet can be "enticed" to run on the Galaxy Nexus. I'm still waiting for an attempt to test it, so we may find out if it works on Monday.
I used the "googlewalletfix_1.1R38v5_ICS_aok.zip" file (no credit to me - found it elsewhere on these forums) - I did the following (with MoDaCo custom ROM):
Flashed MoDaCo, flashed googlewalletfix, reboot to "proper"
Found Google Wallet wasn't installed
Open root terminal, cd to /mnt/sdcard/gw/
mount -o remount,rw /data/system
cp system/app/NfcGoogle.apk /system/app/NfcGoogle.apk # this is probably a terrible, terrible thing to do to your phone. Turn NFC off first and cross your fingers!
cp system/app/Wallet.apk /system/app/Wallet.apk
I saw some logcat entries telling me it was doing something with my newly positioned apk and lo-and-behold, Wallet was installed and would allow me to get a prepaid Google card!
I attached some pretty pictures taken using the Dalvik Debug Monitor.

And the play store is way cheaper then that is $100 shipped play store is $65 but I know what you mean for others in far away places.

Verizon Compatibility
Is there a way to make my Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus work with any of these docks? The versions on Play are claimed to be compatible with GSM/HSPA+ only. However, the $90 version on samsung.com says its compatible with Verizon and Sprint models. should just be a software lock, right? Can this be hacked to work on my Verizon phone? Also, that car dock is really slick but I cant find it on samsung.com. Is the ebay version Verizon compatible?

[Q] White HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus?

Hey I have a Verizon galaxy nexus and I'm selling it because Verizon is too expensive so I'm moving to T mobiles monthly 4G plan for $30 (100 minutes + unlimited texts + unlimited data)
I thouht about getting the s3 but something about having on screen buttons just spell win:laugh:
Anyway Im interested in getting the white galaxy nexus but I'm concerned that it won't be compatible with t mobiles hspa_ 21mbps
Also does anyone know if all the Gnex versions (yakju, yakjuxw , yakjusc etc) support t mobile hspa+ 21 as well?
Question 2: Do you know if the google play store will offer (or offered) the white galaxy nexus?
thanks!
I couldn't answer the first question but as of now, Google is not offering the white Nexus through Play. But who knows they might add it in after the JB upgrade or after they put the Nexus up back on the store? Hold on a little while if you want to find out.
I think that the White Nexus is just for the people that attended Google I/O.
Just like Nexus 7.
The phones given out at I/O weren't white iirc.
So just the tablets were ?
Haven't heard that the I9250 isn't compatible with any operator. It is a Pentaband phone, so it should support every network around (except LTE ofc.).
But do correct me if i'm wrong
Yes it was just the tablets that were white for I/O
My bad then.

1. Any GSM GNex is compatible with TMo's HSPA+. Just watch out for the DoCoMo ones, as they're carrier locked and not worth the headache unless you can get a very, very good deal
2. No one knows at this point

Nexus Accessory Questions / Vehicle Dock

Im sure this question has been asked before but I can not locate it. Sorry guys...
I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, the CDMA version obviously... I want a vehicle docking station!! Every version I find is basically a cradle. Meaning it will not charge the phone and does not have an audio port. It does not utilize the 3 prong support on the side of the phone.
There is a vehicle dock being sold on the Google Play Store but it says for HSPA+ versions only. Why would it not work with the Verizon Version? Does anyone know of a Vehicle Dock that does work with the Verizon Version that will charge etc?
Q&A section for future reference.

International vs. AT&T Note 2 (in the US)

I'm getting a Note 2 and have a few questions. I was about to pull the trigger on an unlocked Note 2 from eBay ($679 shipped). I'm on AT&T in the US and have an upgrade waiting to be used. I don't need LTE - it's a nice to have. What I do need is Google Wallet and great sound quality.
I believe the international Note 2 has the Wolfson DAC and Google Wallet working via NFC...right?
Anyone know if the AT&T version will have the Wolfson chip and Google Wallet? If so, I will just wait on it and pay $299 or whatever the upgrade price is. If not, I'll get the international version and save my upgrade for something else.
Thanks.

Interesting link, but it doesn't address my questions.
What versions (international and AT&T?) have the Wolfson DAC? Does the quad-core Exynos 4412 processor indicate Wolfson?
What about Google Wallet on both?
Did I miss something?

I don't think anyone can answer that question until the AT&T Note 2 actually arrives. I would imagine the DAC will be the same, but who knows if AT&T will interfere with Google Wallet.
EDIT: It appears wallet does not work and AT&T may keep it that way as they will have a competing product soon and want to make sure they get their piece of the pie.
Have an international now on att and wallet does not work. ..
