True, but you can only buy it from Play if you are from the US, so just wanted to post it for people elsewhere (like me)

And the play store is way cheaper then that is $100 shipped play store is $65 but I know what you mean for others in far away places.

Verizon Compatibility
Is there a way to make my Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus work with any of these docks? The versions on Play are claimed to be compatible with GSM/HSPA+ only. However, the $90 version on samsung.com says its compatible with Verizon and Sprint models. should just be a software lock, right? Can this be hacked to work on my Verizon phone? Also, that car dock is really slick but I cant find it on samsung.com. Is the ebay version Verizon compatible?

Extended Battery and Media Dock
Is the fix this simple for the desktop dock as well? And do either of these have issues if you have the extended battery pack?
Thanks again guys,
Chad

Thanks for this OP. The Play store is a real hard-ass for some reason... I don't see any reason why they can't ship to Canada (they block the page entirely)

Google Play thinks my Galaxy Nexus is T-mobile branded?

Hi all,
Just got my Galaxy Nexus one week ago, the GSM unlocked version. I was looking for a specific app, so I accessed the Google Play store from my computer, and it seems Google knows I have a T-mobile phone! See attached pic. (Technically, it's true, I am using T-mobile service, but I'm pretty sure there is no such T-mobile branded Galaxy Nexus.) I just find that funny, especially since my phone was imported by Expansys (possibly from Russia, based on the included manual and charger that are printed in Cyrillic lettering. )
I wonder if other GSM owners see the same thing? (Obviously, I expect Sprint and Verizon to be shown.)
This is normal. The Play Store puts your telephone service provider in front of the model name. Because you are using a T-Mobile USA SIM, the Play Store determines this from your APN settings AFAIK.

^This.
My Galaxy Nexus (from Expansys, I think it's a UK version) is labeled "T-Mobile" as well. Same thing with my Nexus One.
I get the same on my Nexus with me using Rogers in Canada.
Mine got labeled SingTel Samsung Galaxy Nexus, pretty sure my country do not have operators that sell branded phones.
It had to do with the sim card's operator numeric thing i think.
I was using Market Enabler the other day, pretty sure i did not have data enabled and Play Store labled my gnex as a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
It just reads your carrier, and reads your device. Then puts them together...
Its cause of your SIM reporting the info to Google when you linked your account to that phone/number.

Interesting. It does seem a bit intrusive on Google's part to sniff my SIM like that, but I guess I'm OK with it. thanks all.

If you also had another Nexus with AT&T you would be thanking Google for doing that so that you knew which device you were about to download an app to.

There are carrier-specific apps and things that they need to know your carrier info for. Such as when you are in the Play Store and click on "Music" you get a "Live Exclusive T-Mobile Free Songs" button.
And believe me, Google is doing a lot of stuff more intrusive than knowing what carrier you're on... I'm surprised you ever thought that Google wouldn't know your carrier.

As was stated, it is used by the Play Store to determine what apps/features are available to you and it is also used for enabling carrier billing.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus in India???

Galaxy Nexus in India???
I'm thinking to buy a UNLOCKED Version of Galaxy Nexus from USA and gonna use it India. Will 3G and 4G is usable in India???.And will Nexus which is buyed from other countries and used in India gets Jelly Bean Update or not and some bug rectifying updates and will they support the product even when they didn't market this in INDIA.For Indian Galaxy Nexus users,do you guys get updates like OTG update is available for guys???.And if all the above criteria works, where will you guys download updates from, using kies or nexus site???...
Help me guys ...
I hear that the service providers of India use a WCDMA network. Thus a unlocked GSM/HSPA+ version should work properly in India.THE Version version and Sprint version are not suit for people who are not in America

If a phone is unlocked, it will certainly be usable around the world. you can use 3g for sure. 4g depending on your region. the circle is expanding rapidly. you will get the over the air (OTA) updates from google as long as the phone you buy is factory unlocked or directly from google and nothing changed. since its a nexus device, there is ground breaking support for it. updating on your own is a piece of cake, should you wish to do so. any update you would want will come directly to your phone when you connect to a wifi. hence OTA. there is no download what-so-ever using kies.
hope it helps.

Hi Guys,

1. Yes its safe to get it from eBay, speak to the seller before hand about exchange in case there are issues.
2. There are people who import it and give it to the sellers, the boxes seals are opened and phone are checked for any damage(that may have been caused by transport, but original screen guard isn't removed, always check for this as it cannot be put back on the screen once removed), and then they are usually re-packed with a nice plastic.
3. You can use it in India just fine, but if you have issues you'll have to send it back to the UK.
4. I got mine for 24k about 4 weeks ago, so you can get a better price now since the play store sells it for cheaper rates.
I have been using a GNex bought from the US play store in India and it works great. Had to use market enabler to download some us only apps though. 3g on airtel works great. Running 4.1 JB right now.

Depends. If you have a relative or friend in the US, you can have them buy and ship to you, which was what I did. Or, get it from ebay or if you're in Delhi, gaffar. Street price is around 24k,ebay has it for more. Couple of my friends just got it for 24k.
My battery is good to be true, and the negative posts I read about it don't seem to fit. I average 1.5 days to 2 days, with texting, wifi, browsing here and there, music and all. Pretty darn good and satisfactory if you ask me.

The Galaxy Nexus sold on google play or whichever variant claims to be the unlocked GSM edition is good to go with any Indian carrier. The upside about the unlocked International edition is that it is supported by google directly which means it is elligible for all relevant upgdates from google and not from samsung as may be the case with some country specific editions of the device. i have heard that Indian users of the international edition of the phone have already recieved the JB upgrade. i think with shipping , the device should be for around 399$ in the US. if u have an inexpensive source in the US who would be peddle it for you, please go ahead. it is an awesome device . I have been on the galaxy R for the last 6 months, which is a very capable device itself , but running TouchWiz over GB , the galaxy nexus is a refreshing new experience. the stock android is exciting. A great device over all.

Dude, shipping cost depends on where you want it to ship. For me it was New York, took $390 including tax. So yeah, it's not always $400, depends on your area. Some even got it for like $370.
And yeah, I got stock JB running on mine. Gotta agree with you on the experience. The hardware may not be the best, but when you use it with the software, it's blazing fast. The smoothness is just amazing. You won't go back once you get it!
Bad battery posts are from people who got lte/ 4g I assume. Or ones who game all the time. What's important is on screen time I on average get 3.5 hrs daily. Regardless of battery time that could vary on my use of that day.

One more thing, have u got Jellybean update on it?
if so, did u get update notification when using it in India only or have u installed it manually?
I am concerned about one thing, if i'll be getting jellybean update directly from google via OTA or not.
coz i am using Xperia X10 (bought from Singapore) and didn't get any gingerbread on it so i had to install it manually.

All depends on the build. I got mine from the play store.
It's like this: Takju = gsm version from the US play store
Yakju = gsm version from Play Store, but not US, basically internationally
Both these builds get updates from Google, so you'll have no worry.
But, if you have Yakju**, which is the Yakju variant, then your updates will be controlled from Samsung, although this version of the phone is gsm too.
Hope I helped!
And yes I got JB right after a few minutes after my first boot up!

[Q] White HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus?

Hey I have a Verizon galaxy nexus and I'm selling it because Verizon is too expensive so I'm moving to T mobiles monthly 4G plan for $30 (100 minutes + unlimited texts + unlimited data)
I thouht about getting the s3 but something about having on screen buttons just spell win:laugh:
Anyway Im interested in getting the white galaxy nexus but I'm concerned that it won't be compatible with t mobiles hspa_ 21mbps
Also does anyone know if all the Gnex versions (yakju, yakjuxw , yakjusc etc) support t mobile hspa+ 21 as well?
Question 2: Do you know if the google play store will offer (or offered) the white galaxy nexus?
thanks!
I couldn't answer the first question but as of now, Google is not offering the white Nexus through Play. But who knows they might add it in after the JB upgrade or after they put the Nexus up back on the store? Hold on a little while if you want to find out.
I think that the White Nexus is just for the people that attended Google I/O.
Just like Nexus 7.
The phones given out at I/O weren't white iirc.
So just the tablets were ?
Haven't heard that the I9250 isn't compatible with any operator. It is a Pentaband phone, so it should support every network around (except LTE ofc.).
But do correct me if i'm wrong
Yes it was just the tablets that were white for I/O
My bad then.

1. Any GSM GNex is compatible with TMo's HSPA+. Just watch out for the DoCoMo ones, as they're carrier locked and not worth the headache unless you can get a very, very good deal
2. No one knows at this point

Nexus Accessory Questions / Vehicle Dock

Im sure this question has been asked before but I can not locate it. Sorry guys...
I have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, the CDMA version obviously... I want a vehicle docking station!! Every version I find is basically a cradle. Meaning it will not charge the phone and does not have an audio port. It does not utilize the 3 prong support on the side of the phone.
There is a vehicle dock being sold on the Google Play Store but it says for HSPA+ versions only. Why would it not work with the Verizon Version? Does anyone know of a Vehicle Dock that does work with the Verizon Version that will charge etc?
Q&A section for future reference.

Did Samsung forget they made the Galaxy Nexus?

So I just got the Sprint Galaxy Nexus about a month ago, and I really want the pogo dock: model EDD-D1F8BEBSTD. Every search/link to the Samsung website pulls up 404. I was able to get the portrait dock through Sprint, but that blocks my damned headphone jack. I have a bluetooth headset in the meanwhile, but this is ridiculous. Anyone have any news as to why 1) Samsung has disavowed all knowledge pertaining to anything Galaxy Nexus, and 2) when could we expect any of the CDMA accessories to return to stock?

I actually just emailed Samsung about the pogo dock. I mentioned in the email that the Samsung product page for the pogo dock pulls up a 404.
When you email them with a support question you have to select the model that you are inquiring about and the Verizon Galaxy Nexus wasn't listed anywhere, I found that kind of interesting.
It might have something to do with Samsung being more like the manufacture and Google is the boss when it comes to Nexus devices.
Samsung's flagship phones are the Note and the Galaxy S line.
Don't quote me on this though

They have the pogo dock on the Google Play store. Works with T-Mobile, and I expect it would work with Sprint. I've seen a couple of site where they've sanded the back to get the dock to accommodate the slightly thicker VZW GNex.
