Any overclockable kernels for samsung galaxy SGH-I747M Bell? Also, what rom would be good to use?
Stock rom, I lag in Modern Combat 3, and my quadrant scores are always 4.1-4.3k. Using Kyan and Ultimatum I get up to 4.8k with change. I replaced my S3 few times thinking it was defective. Yet, I get the similiar scores. Any help?
I've used Chainfire 3D but that seemed to nerf my perfomance.
Scores are normal, but what did you expect? Our version of gs3 is weaker then international, get that if you're unhappy with performance.
Dev section has OC kernels but that won't double your FPS in games.

After owning the Galaxy S3 for 2 months and doing lots of flashing of roms and kernels, I've decided that I have a lemon CPU. So my GSIII can't score over 6000 in Antutu, even at 2Ghz/Performance (it actually scored 4800 @ that speed), because the processor score is so low. The highest I've scored in Quadrant is ~5800, @ 2Ghz/Performance. I can't undervolt below 1050/1075 mv @ 384 because I get crackling when listening to music. It runs all smooth though. I had some performance issues in NOVA 3, but I think that was a rom issue. So, what do you guys think?
The rom you use will drastically change your benchmarking scores. For instance. I used to always get under 6000 in Antutu on every TW rom. OCd to 2 GHz as well. Now I am running JB CM10 and am getting well over 8000. No crackling in music while undervolt etc.

I tried CM10 too though... About a month ago. Same 4900ish score. I got like 6000 one time on a TW rom.
Edit: I retract that. I tried the new JB TW rom and got 6000... with power saver... on Antutu. Maybe I just have a finicky CPU! Looks like for the first time ever, with the JB TW Rom, I hit a few points of 8000 in Antutu and 6000 in Quadrant... I don't know what the deal is. I have been trying different roms since the beginning of August and then today I tried a new one that worked for me. I guess I retract my question. Thanks!
Anytime! Remember those benchmarks can vary drastically even between test. A reboot could give you an extra 1000. Use them with a grain of salt.
Don't forget to use sunspider! Its a web based benchmark that tests your browsers speed.

Found this in another forum. Wanted to get exposure to the possibility.

From another poster: He references using "siyah" kernel in his S3, which appears to be an international version with the same processor as we have. He indicates the need for "stweaks". He talks about GPU "steppings" so I'm not sure if Andrielux has changed these in his kernel. I installed the app "stweaks" but it wouldn't load as it said "no kernel support".
Wow!!! What in the world. Is this for real? I wonder how stable it is. From 440 up to 800?! They are using some app called Stweaks (and the kernel of course) to do it. Love to see that on our Note 2.
And since it seems that the GPU wasn't changed much....from the Galaxy s2 series... "700 Mhz - 1100 mv" is only 75mv higher than the stock 440...and accoring to the forums stable. A 70% increase in speed and stable. This is a must have for any newer kernels.
His kernel does have it. Read the n7100 thread for directions

"his kernel". Can you be more specific? Do you have a link to this kernel that we can use on the Sprint GSNII that supports GPU OC?

It's about 1/3 the way down the OP with a beige arrow and a GPU frequency table. The few paragraphs below explain how to overclock the GPU via adb/terminal.
** Edit: AndreiLux just posted a new update which includes STweaks support.
Perseus kernel supports GPU overclocking now using STweaks. And it FLIES. Wow.

Stweaks slow overclocking but if you OC it by 100mhz laugh amd giggles numbers. What kind of actual gpu performance are you getting. I see with.stock better real life performance.during.gaming versus his kernel. So if I were to oc just to match stock is pointless to me.
why overheat the gpu when I can get the same performance on stock kernel.
It has to be the way he has it coded. Till it matches stock and further progress dev for it ill step in. I do appreciate his work and time. But for me I need something better than stock. I got this phone for a reason haha.

What kind of performance? I beat the Nexus 4 as the highest rating 3D for a GPU in the market on Antutu. And it's noticeably different. Fun for extrme gaming I guess. But it affect the entire speed of the phone too.
Did you try it yet? The kernel is EXCELLENT. Going to donate from my next paycheck to dev. Thanks again.

NFSMW, GTA 3, Heavy Gaming. I noticed it was bleh on the kernel. And stock was virtually amazing no fps in fps either even during benchmark. On his kernel the 3d test for quadrant ghe fps dipped below than 58 which was consistent on stock

Why would I need a kernel to overclock the gpu to match stock gpu clock from stock kernel to get same performance performance. Neak is on the s3 not Note 2 unless he or it in that Rom but still.
I want a custom kernel that can match the GPU performance on the stock kernel without the need of overclocking

Note 2 N.E.A.K.-

Should we test it? I asked him if it will work on the Sprint version of the Note 2. I can't imagine why it would not.
FYI, STweaks is working for the Perseus kernel as of build 27. My GPU is currently at 733Mhz and I've undervolted all settings by 25 - no issues.

Yep. Seems like a very stable kernel to me. But the guy above is saying that the kernel has low framerates compared to stock. I am hoping he will test the Neak kernel out.

Sorry but I will not ill be sticking to stock maybe in the future. That kernel seems weird not sure which to choose. And like I said, I don't see the point of downloading a kernel know that will I will basically need to overclock the gpu just to get the same performance as I would on the stock kernel.

Hi everyone!
I'm not very experienced in android stuff so i'm going to post a screenshot to make it easier. i'm currently running these(screenshot in attachament)
What should i update or change to increase my battery life? I currently can't get over a 8-9hrs average batery lifetime. I also would like to remain with PA rom.
I heard some things that changing kernel will improve battery but i also dont want to lose any performance.
Thx,
green^
there is no best, every device is different and every user has different needs. its suggested that you try different kernels and find the one that you and your device likes the best.
Can u give me any suggestion? For eg. what do u use?

So you want suggestion? I would say go for popular kernels first and then flash different kernels when you have time to see which one fits you the most. The first kernel I went for is Trinity and Franco and I have to say, they are definitely my pick when it comes to kernels.

I use the Trinity kernel paired with the Rasbean Jelly ROM.. I love that combo
try AK kernel..it gives very good battery life without sacrificing performance.
I'm running CodenameAndroid and love it. I've tried Tiny Kernel, Franco's milestone 6, and Trinity. For me, I like Franco's the best and get a day of battery life with Moderate use, usually. I live in an area where signal is terrible so I attribute most of my battery problems to that.

I will try franco, thx.

When you ask which kernel you will get 4 different suggestions like you did above lol. Here's another one, personally I don't use Franco I like Trinity and AK kernels.
Also, quadrant scores mean NOTHING but if you like to live off getting high scores in quadrant AK kernel destroys quadrant scores.

My friends SII from T-mobile runs butter smooth with an overclock at 1.8GHz. I don't really get why no one has overclocking available for the Epic Touch. Are there any roms Icecream or Jellybean that is overclock-able?
Yes, I know the phone still runs great with even an underclock. Yeah, battery life is better. Those things are not a concern to me. I don't use my phone hours on end and I always have a charging port near me a majority of the time. So battery life isn't an issue for me.
All ics roms running with the 3 source based kernels can be overclocked. I am not sure about CM9. Jb roms cannot be overclocked yet because we don't have source yet.
On jellybean you can use tegrak overclock.

It still has the same processor. It shouldn't matter what they run it at.
The kuban kernel does have over clock for ics stock based roms. Any time I run ics tw I flash kuban kernel
Only problem is that I can't seem to find a good stable rom. There is this one that is pretty good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874374
But development on it is basically slim to nothing now.

It does NOT have the same processor. We have the better Exynos CPU with a Mali GPU. The D710 outperforms the T-Mobile variant with only 1.2Ghz versus the 1.5Ghz on the T989.
The T-Mobile and the AT&T Skyrocket variants use Snapdragon CPUs and Adreno GPUs.

Interesting fact I didn't know about. But the only thing I know is that his phone overclocked at 1.8Ghz runs butter smooth just like an iPhone and much more smooth than mine.
I am on the Blu Kuban FI27 , and it has an overclock of 1.6 ghz.
I have tried it but the phone gets flaky fast, and also gets extremely hot around camera area.
Personally , I run mine at 1.1 high end and 800 low end. It performs just fine. I am a heavy gamer, play Modern Combat, Order and Chaos, Need for Speed Most Wanted , and rarely see any hiccups if any.
Good luck, but be careful....the heat my phone created at 1.6 tests will destroy your phone in no time.

I recently flashed the KT747 for a super fast 2.1mHz CPU overclock. But then after flashing I realized it doesn't overclock the GPU that much.
Are there any kernels that can overclock the GPU to about 700mHz?
-Thanks for any help!
Sorry for CyanogenMod 10.1 (d2att) nightly ROM.
Does the new SiyahKernel work with the ATT Galaxy S3 running CM10.1 nightly?
Ah stupid me I meant 2.1ghz or 2106mHz CPU overclock.
I don't think any kernels do GPU OC, because it has shown to cause more problems than it is worth. That's just what I remember KT saying.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Most custom kernels if not all already have GPU OCd to 450mhz
Over clocking the GPU on a GS3 is not needed and even with it over clocked, you wouldn't tell the difference. It also leads to issues and battery drainage.
The S3 doesn't need OC at all 1.2Gz with 2Gz of ram leaves no place for lag.

I haven't had any lag whatsoever at any point that I've had my S3. Try reflashing your rom and completely wiping. Also try a different kernel and kernel settings.
This phone shouldn't lag at all. Maybe a little on TouchWiz but never on AOSP

My s3 lags at 2.1 GHz too. Try it at 1.6 or 1.7 GHz or change governor settings to a faster ramp up one.
