Very frustrating, as it shows I have unread emails but they're not unread. The numerical indicator is off, but I of course don't see the offending messages until I search for "is:unread". Marking them as read does not cause the indicator to change.
Having to go into my full inbox to update them is getting on my nerves.
Thoughts? I tried other suggestions I found when searching but they haven't worked.

Having the same problem on my Droid 1, I believe it started after I updated to the latest (May something I believe) Gapps, however I reflashed the March set and that DID not fix it.

Uninstall and reinstall from market seemed to fix it.
Sent from my Droid using XDA Premium App
Read every message individually, showing 1 unread on app shortcut icon.
Deleted all messages, still showing 1 unread.
Any suggestions?
happens to me the odd time, leave it, it will go away. it's an odd but rare bug!
Leave it?
It's playing havoc with my OCD!!
I had that a lot. Then I started using the Gmail app and updated it from the Market. Since then I haven't had that problem.

No, I'm talking about the stock sms messaging shortcut icon (as found in the bottom toolbar as standard).
what version of the play you using?
like gsm cdma?
happen to me also but it the stupid visual voicemail from verzion lol kept showing up as a txt
i can confirm that bug on 4.0.A.2.368 UK Generic. Using GO SMS Pro but stock messaging app icon shows a number 1 on a circle. good thing it's not on my homescreen. just use a 3rd-party messaging app and replace the stock sms app icon instead. you won't be bothered anymore, as i bet you barely visit your app drawer as i do.
I got the same problem on mine, v annoying!
Hello
I just got my GNex, and i noticed that i see a wave effect centering from the bottom center on the background in contacts application, even more visible when i pull down the status bar.
I dont see it anywhere else. Not in message app background or in web. Just in contacts. Im thinking its because of grey-ish white background in the contacts app.
Is this normal?
If it isnt, is there a way to fix it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
It is normal if it occurs in only one application.
Just Reflash the rom if your using a rom.
If you stock and rooted, just back up contacts with Rom Toolbox and delete the original one. Then restore it without data first. If all is well then data next.
If fails repeat but don't restore data.
Back up ur contacts first.
Edit1: can't confirm if I have the same problem since I'm using a sense theme.
Edit2: do the method for stock if reflashing doesnt fix anything.
Recently, my phone had an issue where the notification badge on an app icon did not disappear. This is occurring on the messaging app. I received two texts during the night which I did not see until the morning. However, during this time, an automated Titanium Backup was made (I don't know if it matters though). The messaging app constantly shows a 2 in the red bubble beside the app icon indicating unread messages. There are no associated notifications in the bar. Further text messages correctly appear in the notification bar but do not change the number of the messaging app. I have tried restoring a previous Titanium backup and even reflashed my rom (stock Bell rooted rom) to no avail.
I have tried googling this problem and many of the users report this issue on HTC devices but none of the suggested methods in those threads worked for me.
This issue is not "critical" as my phone functions correctly 100% of the time. It is just annoying to always see the notification badge.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, I had this issue while using the stock ROM as well. The only resolution I could find was a factory reset. Since, I have not experienced the issue again. However, I am currently running jellybro so it remains to be seen.
When you performed a factory reset, were you able to back up your data and restore it or did this re-instigate the issue?

Tried that already. Deleted app cache/data via settings. Also deleted cache and dalvik cache via CWM to no success.
If all else fails, I will resort to a factory reset and hopefully be able to restore everything via Titanium
OK so here is how I fixed my problem.
1. Made a full backup in Titanium
2. Made a nandroid
3. Factory reset via settings menu
4. Re-flashed stock root rom
5. Deleted Titanium backup data for Badges, Touchwiz, and Messaging
6. Restored via Titanium for all system data and other apps.
7. Problem fixed!
I am having this issue for a couple of weeks now, i am getting no notification for text messages. No sound, no indication. Even no msg number appears on the msg icon when it suppose to show the number when msg comes. The only way i know the new msgs is when i go to inbox then i can see the new msgs came and then if i went back to home screen without reading the new msges then msg icon shows new msg numbers and on the top notofication bar.

Little Clarifications Please:
1) Using CUSTOM ROM or Stock ROM?
2) Using Stock messaging App or any others?
I'm assuming you'r using default stock messaging app in STOCK ROM.
May be try opening Messaging, Press Menu key and go to Settings, under the settings there will be notification settings. Check those.

I'm not sure how is this then.
May be Check whether it's similar to this.
Also, Check you notification volume and Also make sure the there is some ringtone selected in these apps as well.
Since Go SMS works fine i think it's ostly an issue due to the setting in Stock Messaging app.
