Hello
I just got my GNex, and i noticed that i see a wave effect centering from the bottom center on the background in contacts application, even more visible when i pull down the status bar.
I dont see it anywhere else. Not in message app background or in web. Just in contacts. Im thinking its because of grey-ish white background in the contacts app.
Is this normal?
If it isnt, is there a way to fix it?

It is normal if it occurs in only one application.
Just Reflash the rom if your using a rom.
If you stock and rooted, just back up contacts with Rom Toolbox and delete the original one. Then restore it without data first. If all is well then data next.
If fails repeat but don't restore data.
Back up ur contacts first.
Edit1: can't confirm if I have the same problem since I'm using a sense theme.
Edit2: do the method for stock if reflashing doesnt fix anything.

Recently, my phone had an issue where the notification badge on an app icon did not disappear. This is occurring on the messaging app. I received two texts during the night which I did not see until the morning. However, during this time, an automated Titanium Backup was made (I don't know if it matters though). The messaging app constantly shows a 2 in the red bubble beside the app icon indicating unread messages. There are no associated notifications in the bar. Further text messages correctly appear in the notification bar but do not change the number of the messaging app. I have tried restoring a previous Titanium backup and even reflashed my rom (stock Bell rooted rom) to no avail.
I have tried googling this problem and many of the users report this issue on HTC devices but none of the suggested methods in those threads worked for me.
This issue is not "critical" as my phone functions correctly 100% of the time. It is just annoying to always see the notification badge.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, I had this issue while using the stock ROM as well. The only resolution I could find was a factory reset. Since, I have not experienced the issue again. However, I am currently running jellybro so it remains to be seen.
When you performed a factory reset, were you able to back up your data and restore it or did this re-instigate the issue?

Tried that already. Deleted app cache/data via settings. Also deleted cache and dalvik cache via CWM to no success.
If all else fails, I will resort to a factory reset and hopefully be able to restore everything via Titanium
OK so here is how I fixed my problem.
1. Made a full backup in Titanium
2. Made a nandroid
3. Factory reset via settings menu
4. Re-flashed stock root rom
5. Deleted Titanium backup data for Badges, Touchwiz, and Messaging
6. Restored via Titanium for all system data and other apps.
7. Problem fixed!
Hi guys, looking for a little help here. I have the Koodo Galaxy S2x, and I just rooted it yesterday using Odin and such. I've noticed that since I've done this, I have an issue with ny messages app once in a while. I'll open the app, and its as if i deleted my inbox-no messages-when I know I haven't. I can't recieve or send any texts while in this state. It seems I can go to my task killer and clear my RAM, and that solves the issue (temporarily). Has anyone experienced this? Its really annoying to have to constantly check my inbox to make sure its still working correctly...I'm running stock, by the way. Thanks guys.
P.S- Shortly after rooting, I switched from the stock Touchwiz launcher to Launcher 8. Could it be an issue with the launcher, rather than rooting?

Back up any important apps/data (Titanium Backup), flash back to stock Koodo 4.0.4 ROM via Odin. Do not apply any root and use the default launcher. See if the problem still occurs, since it's a clean flash it shouldn't. Then go ahead and re-install any of the stuff you had backedup, recommend individually to check if it's a particular app that caused conflict.
Ahh, i was hoping I could avoid having to flash and restore everything, but if all else fails, thats what I'll do. I uninstalled Launcher 8 this morning and so far haven't encountered the issue again, so I'm crossing my fingers that the app was the issue. I'm thinking it was something to do with the way the launcher reads any unread texts and displays the number on the messages tile. Of course, I could be wrong.

My One V is rooted but running the standard firmware. Problem is the default HTC text / SMS app. It often refuses to fully open (stays half open on white screen) or takes a minute or two to fully open. In addition "unread sms" notifications are not correctly update (I open a message but it still stays 'unread').
I have deleted all but a hundred or so messages in case there were too many.
I have removed all non-stock launchers and the like.
Situation improves after a reboot but only for one or two uses then the SMS app is back to misbehaving.
Phone is fully up to date apart from last minor (22mb) OTA update - that will not install for some reason.
Any suggestions anyone? I can live with everything else on the phone but this fault is really annoying.
Thanks in advance...
I suggest you back up everything and do a factory reset that should help

Thanks for the suggestion. I want to avoid that hassle if I can.
I am trying now the "Chomp SMS" app instead of the normal one. No lag or hangs so far
Some say it's that one the best: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms&feature=search_result&hl=en
Thanks, I might try it if the Chomp one does not work out. I tried the Go Launcher and some other of their apps before but was not too impressed. Not too fast, left many folders on the phone when un-installed etc.
So far the Chomp SMS app works fast and is easy to customize. It does show ads however unless I pay.
Hi, I am using a n7105. Recently, I have issues with my contacts not showing up.
It's not to do with phone configuration of what to show..I guess it's more of a bug or sort.
Everytime when this occurs, I need to restart the phone and the contacts will be back.
I am on stock 4.1.2 rom except I have applied root to it.
Anyone encounter this or suggestion to fix it? Thanks in advance

Once the contacts show up, export them.
Then clear data for contacts and then import back contacts.

Thanks. Just did a backup, clear Contacts and restore. Will monitor it for a while if it goes away.
BTw, there's another app called "Contacts Storage". Any idea what it does? Do i need to clear that as well?
Problem still occurs... I am gettiing this error message.
com.google.process.gapps has stopped.
Very briefly , i see the following as well "android.process.acore has crashed."
I search online that the later problem could be contacts related. But how do i solve it?
Hello everyone,
About thw past week or so I have been having this problem. I flash a new rom and for a day or two phone works fine, but then sms freezes and crashes. I open contacts app and it says that its updating contacts list but never does.
I end up re-flashing the rom for the problem to go away, but sure enough it happens again. I've had this problem with 2 different roms. I have also odin back to stock and rooted again, but same has problem occurred. Has anyone else had this problem ans found a solution?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a syncing problem? Where are you contacts getting "updated" from?

I sync from Google contact

I had the same problem. So, when I updated my ROM, I didn't reload my contacts. I just let Google resync them, and the problem was gone. Hope this helps.
