Indian members read - Defy General

Hello guys, lately I've come to know that if we get some sort of bin file from service centers we can unlock our defy.
I have a request for all Indian members to try to get this file if possible. I my self will be trying too. If anyone is able to find it then I might reward that person too.
I specifically made this for Indian members cuz we have something called "jugaad" in our country which gets you whatever you want. Please try your best guys, dont you'll want an unlocked defy ??

We always thought that Motorola don't have a method to unlock production defys (defys shipped to end users). Well we have sufficient information now to prove that Motorola have a method, and that it converts production defys to engineering defys (Phones used by Motorola engineers to make ROMs and other stuff)
This is actually better than a simple unlocked boot-loader because eng defys have unlimited applications (because we have direct access to MOBO/CPU) like overclocking gpu, installing other OS like Ubuntu, Debian, WP7 etc. into NAND and a lot more.
So the problem here is that the tools required for ENG switch is only available to Motorola employees. Till now we have no further information on it. The tools are TI OMAP BOARD CONFIGURATION TOOL and a 16MB .bin file. Other significance of this method is that it might also unlock other phones with OMAP(3xxx/xxxx?) board. Also this method seems to be very stable.
So the good news is that this software is available for most Motorola repair centers. That means it would be easier to get a leak.
What am I rewarding: Otterbox for Defy(might also give my Mugan Power battery, lets see).

Come on guys. No Indian to support this? ;/

There is this TI tool that can help in unlocking the bootloaders of our defy. That and a 16MB bin file is used which is of most importance for now coz we have the tool.
Please try getting it.

He means that you can load custom kernel in order to give more control to the users about what they want on their defy... it's a real plus over the actual state of art of defy!

here's my story -
when I've first seen the storm of boot loader unlock campaign, i went out to moto service center (searched on web) only to find out it has been shifted to other place. Since then i am searching for it here in Ghaziabad (can't go to other places due to busy schedule).I also tried to obtain TI OMAP board configuration tool from LG service center( as they also have some phones with same board), but got nothing.
Now, I will go to Delhi on this weekend (may be next), lets see what happens :fingers-crossed:

Lol I like our idea 'jugaad' one
I will try to contact my friend in moto service center

I'm not an Indian but I've got a good idea. Sorry I'm new here so I can't post in developers threads.
So my idea is something like a ****storm against Motorola on Facebook.
I read about ****storms against MacDonald's and they have success.

Nah, we've tried that. The amount of storming done to Moto when OPMOSH#2 started was intense, but had no results. So, hacking life is the way to go.

OH i get it now, I thought you were talking about SIM, but I realized you were the same nidhish on the
project Cheesecake thread
Do you mean the .bin file that turns your defy into Engineer Mode (or whatever they call it) when you take it
into the shop? That's a good start if you can find it.
But the OMAP configuration tool is probably more difficult because the cell phone repair shops don't do any unlocking...
i think they only put your phone into engineer mode to restore it to original system.
Anyways, I would have tried to help, but my carrier is the worst in terms of customer service. If I tried explaining to them
they would fill my mind with senseless **** and I would leave with empty hands

Yep I am the same guy and no issues mate. There are many other Indian members here so if they all can give on shot you never know we have a fruitful result on a day.

Yes, especially now when Moto announced last Sunday it's laying off 20% of its staff, or 4,000 jobs of which two-thirds outside the US:
http://allthingsd.com/20120812/goog...rola-cutting-20-percent-of-staff-or-4000-jobs
That's the price you have to pay for not listening to your customers, Moto!

News: 6th Feb 2006
So far there is no unlocking tool availabe for HTC Universal (XDA EXEC, MDA pro, SPVM5000)
only guys at www.imei-check.co.uk claim to have some unlocking solution. They charge GBP 50.00 for this service also they require physical access to phone.
Update # 1
- The all in one HTC unlocker tool do not work on Universal.
- The unlocker tool for wizard also do not work on Universal. (although both have same WM5)
- Flashing your universal with ROM of jasjar will not remove sim lock from the Locked Universal.
- XDA Exec is known to come unlocked by-default.

I contacted imei-check.co.uk about universal unlocker and they informed me that they will not provide any online service for universal unlocking as in past people make illegal use of their tools

Is anybody working on universal unlocker tool ?
Mda Pro Unlock
Find below information received from T-mobile regarding unlocking (MDA pro)
I'm pleased to tell you that to unlock your phone we'll give you something called a subsidy PIN. To request this there’s a charge of £15 (including VAT). It may take up to 28 working days for us to send your subsidy PIN to you but normally it’s a lot quicker than this.
It may be that not all of your phone's features will work on another network and you'll need to check that your phone is compatible with the network you're planning to use it on. Sometimes you'll also need a working SIM card to unlock it.
There are a few things you'll need to have done before we can give you your subsidy PIN:
If you pay as you go
-You'll need to have made your first top-up at least three months ago.
-You can then pay the £15 charge for the PIN by topping up your account with vouchers or an electronic top-up card, or by credit or debit card if you have one registered with us.
If you pay monthly
-You'll need to have had your T-Mobile account for at least a month.
-You shouldn't have asked more than twice for a subsidy PIN in the last 12 months.
-If your contract hasn't come to an end, you'll need to pay a cancellation charge.
-Before we give you your subsidy PIN, you'll need to have paid any outstanding amounts on your bills.
-We can then add the £15 charge for the PIN to your monthly bill.
To get your subsidy PIN, please email us again with the following information:
your name, mobile number, and account password (if you don't have a password, you'll need to set one up - you can do this at http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher?menuid=help_cu_ap)
an alternative number we can contact you on
the make and model of your phone
your IMEI number - you'll find this on the back of your phone underneath the battery, or by pressing *#06# on your keypad (or on a Blackberry use the track wheel to scroll to Hide Call and press Return - then from the Options menu on the front screen choose Status Open and you'll see your IMEI)
tell us how you'd like to pay the £15 charge.

Hi Buzz,
Silly question maybe, but now that you can SIMLock them, is it possible to SIMLock them to a different network than they are SIMLocked to at the moment, or only to SIMLock an unlocked handset?
ie I have a Vodafone SIM and could have access to an Orange SIM locked M5000 Universal. I would happily take this device and lock it to Vodafone which would allow me to use my SIM, as although a full unlock would be useful, this would be a major step in the immediate term.
Or do you mean if I had a universal with no lock currently you could SIM lock it to Vodafone?
Thanks for your great work so far (I currently run an unlocked Himalaya with WM5 )
Cheers
Doogie

???????? IS IT A SCAM ?????????
Check out http://shop.xpmobile.com/
They claim to have in stock 8 SIM-free Orange SPV M5000 (HTC Universal) at 450 BP each (which is less than US$800!!!).
They also just sold 4 of the same on eBay at a fixed price of 400 BP!!! The description claimed the devices were new, unlocked (not just SIM-free which might be ambiguous) and they would give you an invoice so the warranty would be valid. They had the extended PayPal guarantee of US$1000, rather than the normal US$200, which indicates they convinced PayPal of their legitimacy, right?
Does Orange allow their SPV M5000 to be unlocked? Wouldn't they charge for it if they did? So how is the price of these XPMobile devices so very low? IMEI-CHECK is really expensive so that possibility is ruled out I would say.
If XPMobile has figured out their own way to unlock the SPV M5000, would the warranty be invalidated if Orange did not do the unlocking? If you sent the device in for repair under warranty, would they check that it was still locked?
Lots of questions! Who has some answers?

Who can help me in buying Defy ??

Hi everyone, I want to buy Moto Defy, but at some reasons (in our country we have no motorla phones), i can't it buy in our country. Also i heard about diffirence in Defys about Defy+ , and i want to buy Defy with red camera, and unlocked butloader(it would be good if it will ready for flashing roms).
So i need some help.
Used
Defy (prefer black color)
Red Camera
Unlocked bootloader
And ability to send it to my country (its not in Europe, its Azerbaijan(Near Russia))
So who can help me in this??
ps(sorry for my eng)
Sorry, but it isn't possible to get a defy with unlocked bootloader, because of motorola. We are locked to the motorola kernels, so it's a little tricky to flash other roms. You can only use the roms from this forum.
Sent from my MB526 using XDA App
No unlocked bootloader doesn't exists. There is no reason to not want a defy+. It's only better. You can loot for them on ebay. Many do international shipping.
For the variations, you have no problem using a defy from an other country. You can always flash a rom witch have your frequencies or even use a simple app that changes the frequency to the one you want.
You do want to watch out for phones locked for a carrier althow I think they managed to get these to work on every network with CM7
Only chinese(maybe other asian countries) defy's are a bit different (not that much).

You can buy a Motorola Defy online at www.dealextreme.com.
Mmm guys when i asked about unlocked bootloader i mean roms flashing ability.
With online stores like ebay or dx, we have some problems. Thats why i wrote here, i mean on this part of forum many people who know this phone good, who live in EU.
So i just asked for "who can buy me a phone and send via post, ofcourse i will pay " , it would be great if somebody can do it for me. tnx

+1. If you guys really want to get this beasty phone...i suggest you guys start signing the petition and pass it around to your friends and other forums. It's time to put an end to locked bootloaders by the manufacturers. It's our money so we should be able to use any way we want it.
How much good will a petition actually do here?
Anyway, I sincerely hope there is a practical way for it to be unlocked.
I would never expect for the device itself to come unlocked but, I think it's fairly reasonable to hope there is a manufacturer provided way to unlock it.

Professor Google usually has the answer... An XDA-style unboxing would be nice...
I doubt it would be beneficial even if this phone had an unlocked bootloader. LG would likely never provide any meaningful support in the form of driver, kernel sources etc, so any functional AOSP/AOKP roms would be non existent.

Network Lock Issue

guy's i'm using a Bravo here in Pakistan, its on 2.2.1 i've rooted with recovery, the issue is that everytime i flash another rom it asks for the "input network pin" prompt and i got no signals and no network, no one can unlock the phone here, but yes on froyo i've got my network, thankfully i restored a backup that i made and i get my network back... any one can help me get my phone fully unlocked so i can flash other roms other than froyo?
I would move this topic from Bravo Android Development over to Bravo General because there is where all of the Q&A topics should go. Just my suggestion, tho.
yes this should be moved, but answering your question @jafferkhan, it happened to me before, it is because you bought an cheap unlock code, everytime you flash it, it will ask for the unlock code, buy the code from another server, I know one that worked for me before, or try direct unlock with sigma key, all this methods are paid services

hey juan, thanks for the prompt response, you guys have helped me understand a lot about this phone, yes you're right, i think i will need to get it unlocked, but the entire phone cost me less than 15 dollars here where i am, and i know that it's been softunlocked, to run on 2.2.1 which is why when i upgrade it, it won't unlock, if you can, how to soft unlock it on CM7.2? so i will keep it on that only and it stays unlocked to use it on that
I don't think you could soft unlock this because there is no soft unlock for the Bravo yet like there is for the Defy. Yes, I did suggest you try the Defy soft unlock as a last resort thru PM but it didn't work. Juan seems to know more about this than I do, even I had no idea there was a difference between normal unlock codes and "cheap" ones that only work once. If anything, just find a ROM you would be comfortable staying on and buy another one of those cheap one time use unlock codes Juan talked about in his previous post. I know in my country I have seen cheap unlock codes go for around 2 US Dollars but I don't know how that would translate to Pakistan currency.

If you are interested there is a used Motorola Bravo that is about 55 USA dollars on Amazon (and there's a new version for about 80 USA dollars). It is locked to Consumer Cellular, but it is running 2.2.2 Froyo which a lot of Motorola Bravo developers REALLY REALLY want. You see, most Motorola Bravo phones only run Android 2.2.1 but ONLY CONSUMER CELLULAR VERSIONS RUN ANDROID 2.2.2 SO FINDING ONE WITH 2.2.2 IS VERY RARE AND VERY SOUGHT AFTER. Here is a link to the Amazon product page:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846
EDIT: I actually made a mistake. The one for 50 USA dollars is actually not used, it is new as well.
If you were to get this and it is running 2.2.2 Froyo as its Android version, me and the rest of the Motorola Bravo fans out there would ask you to first perform a system dump of all the Android 2.2.2 files before replacing the Android version with another ROM. To see what I am talking about with the whole Android 2.2.2 on Motorola Bravo thing (and to learn how to perform a system dump as well) take a look at this thread here:

@jasonmerc 55usd is too high, you can buy an atrix by 60
It was the lowest price I have seen for this phone anywhere. He told me he bought his phone in Pakistan where he is, and he said he bought it off of some guy and not on an online service like Amazon. So when it comes to buying one where you are (Santo Domingo) an online service might be your only easy option to buying a phone.

jason answered your question before me ... thanks jase, but yeah i got it here from a dude who imports these phones and sells them cheap, i got it for very cheap since it was in a rough condition, almost for free but since i've been using it, it's a very capable small cute phone, here you can get it for as low as 20 in good condition, and yeah an atrix HD for like 70 dollars here

Is this one plus for real?!

Hey guys,
I'm about to buy a one plus 3 from a guy which is selling it extremely cheap and I would like to ask you guys, in what ways I could check if the device is real and not just a replica and also if It's not stolen. I will meet with the guy today so I would appreciate everything you tell me test on the device before making the purchase. I already asked him for the picture of the invoice.. now I'm waiting for his reply.
BTW this is the picture he sent me of the device:

when you meet, ask to plug it in to a outlet, if it dashcharges, its real.
or
open bootloader by turning off phone and press volume up+power, it should be named someting ms8996 or something like that.
Whats the price?

I saw you comment and first off I'd like to say its already a chinese branded phone and very modest company, not your usual suspects for making "Phoney." (pun intended) Also I do not own the phone yet, but since you're cautious I'll still help you out.
When I buy phones from untrusted/unknown parties I always meet them in very open public places and look them in the eye when they're talking, looking for signs of anxiety or hesitation.
Now onto the phone itself:
pop the sim tray out make sure there are 2 slots (real oneplus 3 has 2 slots). okay
Go to settings> about phone check the imei with this: https://swappa.com/esn (its free and trusted site)
pop one of my sim cards in and make a phone call. go back to settings> about phone and check the baseband, model number, build number etc. and make sure they are correct/up to date.
go to the camera (usually the stock app) and I test photos and videos.
turn on bluetooth and make sure it searches for my headset which i have on at the time.
Open a web browser and see how fast the app opens and open multiple tabs and different websites in each.
For a phone like this I would feel the quality of the build because most knock-offs just don't feel like "real"
and LAST but not LEAST go to settings> security and check the fingerprint sensor, (how fast it esponds, if it responds at all, nothing is for sure but chances are very slim that a knock-off company is putting a high quality fingerprint system in a knock-off phone. I do all of this while talking to him/her about how the yankees are really sucking this year, and telling them my fantasy football team is better than theirs by a long shot.
I sure hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
Check the Android version. If it says Nougat, then it is obviously a fake one.
Thank you! Isn't there an app that can check if the phone is real? Like all the internals and camera module? I heard there's one with the name similar to AIDA..
Also, could anyone post the latest settings page where I can see the latest build/baseband and so on, please?
Thank you all

That's suspicious, I would never buy this.
Water damage isn't visible from the outside but you could be screwed later on.

What if I do every test mentioned above? As a sound test?
If everything works well, it shouldn't be a problem.. it's even seen the original screen protector..

You could easily get 300 euro for OP3 so for me the real question is (and it should be your question as well) Why would the seller throw away 150 euro? Why would anybody do that? Nobody would unless something is wrong.

Looks real. Exactly like mine did whwn I got it. But what's to say that's what you will receive. Especially at half price.
Buy using a reputed site and pay using a known payment method.
That way if you do get cheated will have some way to get your money back.
Isnt that fingerprint Sensor/ home button too thick and too small from left to right?

Yeah it actually does look a little weird. Not the same compared to mine. Mines shorter from top to bottom and longer left to right.

It looks real, it still has the screen protector on it too, have him take a pic of the back and get the imei and look it up, it seems legit, maybe he won it and is just selling it cheap, just make sure it powers on and no other issues

If you can get internet... Download the Geekbench 3 from playstore and run a test and you should get around 2250+ singlecore score and 5400+ multicore score (If you can only download geekbench 4 then score is around 1700 for single and 4000 multicore)

That's not a UK plug, looks US to me which means it's running different bands than the EU model. Check it'll work on your network

3g bands should be ok but 4G can be problematic.
