Root? --SOLVED-- - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

--SOLVED--
So I have been browsing methods of rooting the Ion bound by ATT.. and none have worked
Some claim the Xperia S method is the same, I tried the rootkit1.0.2 and it failed. Anyone have solutions? I did try the method listed in the Developedment section. Might I have done wrong?
And to prevent confusion I have the LT28at with a locked boot loader.
Any tips info and down beatings are accepted and highly welcomed!

This worked for me on the L28at. If you want root plus tether plus LTE, follow the last paragraph.

For that error, you need to either restart the computer, open the flash tool so adb is recognized, or both.
On second thought, at what point did you wipe your cache and such, if at all?

For windows,in order for adb to run you need to be in platform-tools folder unless you have more portable version.

OK so good on you for making the video. But wouldn't it have been just as easy to do a quick write up on the steps in stead of filming a video....that you can't see what your doing anyway....then have to go back and edit the description of the video to list the steps? Seems a bit much to me....

Ha its one thing reading it but its another thing seeing it as well. If I were to just explain it I would have liked to have have screens of the process as well because the visual clarification is always nice for first time rom flashers hence the video...god didn't realise I would encounter this much heat ...hope to god this community isn't changing into a more apple orientated user base. Its intended to help not be analysed to this degree...does it misinform people, no, does it do what it states, yes. As you can see from peoples comments already that it has helped a few users and started them on their journey. That's all I want to say about this

Since you're looking to flash ROMs
2.3.5
you can do the superoneclick and dl rom manager and flash a the cwm recovery and then flash a rom
OR
2.3.5/2.3.6
Use ODIN
flash RECOVERY
flash ROM
good luck

I had a hard time at first, odin kept giving me the "incorrect file type" or some such. Make sure you're flashing a "pda" and not "phone." Also make sure you're using the tar.md5 file as is. This was strange to me coming from the nexus one.

try saving it on your "desktop" so you have easy access to the Tar. file. just drag and drop when odin begins (or asks for it) did this twice in one day with mine and my wifes phones !

OK make sure you have a root explorer with read and write capabilities. If you go to the very top file after that you'll see a folder called system. In the system folder will be a lib folder. Copy the lib and paste it there. Then copy seclauncher2.apk to the app folder that's inside the system folder as well. Let me know if you got it. Then reboot.

[MOD] Google Wallet fix (ALL VARIANTS..TMOBILE, ATT, AND VERIZON confirmed)

First and foremost i would like to say that i did not do this alone. With the help of Ogdobber, we got it working! its only right that i give half the credit to him! Since the first day owning this device, i tried numerous times to try and get it working, and now finally here it is!!
[THIS SHOULD WORK ON ALL VARIANTS (VERIZON AND ATT) WITH A CUSTOM RECOVERY, HOWEVER ITS TESTED FOR SURE ON TMOBILE]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS.. (MUST BE ON A DEOXDED TOUCHWIZ ROM. stock odexed roms will not work with this fix! I am running wicked V2 and it is confirmed working..)
10/5/2013 update.... Due to the new wallet verson, a build.prop change is NOT necessary... this can now be simplified into 2 very easy setep.
Step 1 .. Download my lib fix file and the modified wallet zips here..

https://www.dropbox.com/s/y8x1w9v97whpcuq/Google Wallet 2.0-R133-v9-MODDED.zip
Step 2.... Flash both files in CWM
reboot and setup wallet and youre golden!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HUGE THANKS TO OGDOBBER, Xeonox, romracer, and everyone who helped get this working!
Confirmed working on Wicked V2.
Thanks for all your hard work & weeks of fiddling around to get this up & working!

Cool. Thanks. One last question... If a black bear and a polar bear get it on... do they make a panda?

[Q] superuser?

im new to all this rooting stuff. i have read a bunch. found
[HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter [Tmobile / Wind / Mobilicity / Videotron
guide i downloaded all i need for my (T-,Mobile) S3 t999 my phone has 4.1.2 newest update. my question is: I found something while reading about needing a superuser file to put into your phone. but on this walkthrough i dont see one. or even that i need one. Again i was gonna ask in that specific topic but alas im new user and cannot. Thank you ahead of time.
You don't need it, just follow that guide and you'll be good

The root66 firmware in that tgread is pre rooted, so it already has Super User installed.

There's different root methods. The one with superuser you can find on Galaxys3root.com
Basically you put the superuser zip file on your internal sdcard. Put cwm in your phone through Odin. Then flash superuser through cwm and you're done.
Both root methods work. I did my friend a favor by rooting his galaxy S 3 two days ago by this method.

Not gonna brick with Root66. Its a very easy, very reliable method.

I agree. It doesnt get much simpler than Odin and root66!
Just be absolutely sure you are using the right firmware for your model phone, and that you have enough battery charge. (Doesnt take a lot, but 50% to be safe).
Backup and factory reset for the best results.

If the file wasn't correct, you would not have been able to take that screenshot.

I think he means that the screenshot is what he is running right now with no root, and wants to make sure the file he downloaded from the tmo link is correct.. Which it is
