Lol?
Everyone has their own beliefs and expectations about a certain app or the way something should work better for them. Post your feelings directly through the Play Store.

Not that I really want to prolong this convo. But I'm kind of interested on what you expected it to do? I'm not a huge fan of it. Its a nifty thing. But I believe the verdict is out on what it does. And it does do what it is made to do. So where did it fall short?

my best use: what is the weather in (insert location). works like a charm, and what time is it. lol.

Just thought I would be able to control my phone by voice command (ie: launch alarm, app, almost anything I do by touch) guess its cool to some just not what I was hoping for oh well one day just hope not to long already got one foot in the grave.

Sprint Releasing Security Update that Cripples SGSIII

I knew it would come! Since im on T-Mobile, it won't effect me right away but:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2590...security_update_bye_bye_universal_search.html
Which takes away a basic core service that's been around before ISO even existed. Remember desktop search from Windows 95?
I COMPLETELY DEPEND on the global search mechanism on the Google widget because i keep everything sorted using keywords. I have over a thousand contacts separated by keywords, linked together with emails and pics (im in the building trade industry).
Google is known for their awesome search capabilities using keywords, how can they strip something like this away.
I need this search ability. The iphone is very tempting now.

Dude is a troll plain and simple. His replies betray his genuineness .
meanwhile, trolls aside, I really don't understand how Apple won the injunction with the overwhelming prior art of Google Desktop Search [released Oct 2004] and (I really dislike using this as an example of anything, but it applies) BonziBUDDY [released 1999].
to lesser extents, we have:
ISYS
- prototyped as "Homer" in 1987
- released in 1988
---- was actually a tool to search documents and databases on a private network, searched locally as well
Copernic Search
- released in 1996
---- web multi-search tool, local search functions added well before iPhone (I don't remember when though)
Microsoft Actors/Agents
- released originally as MS Bob in Mar 1995
Windows Desktop Search
- as of v4, included with WinVista, RTM Nov, 2006

I just updated the Starbucks app, and now they have a widget. I LOVE WIDGETS. The iphone doesn't have widgets. So it would be crazy for me to wanna buy an iphone. Just a little angry, that's all. See, i still want to get ME my SGSIII the pebble while my wife has the white.

Addicted to my phone

I'm completely addicted to my phone, like most people on XDA, I mean I m on it 24/7 as soon as I wake up, and no for phone call or text (it actually bothers me) Idk what to do, flashing roms, kernels, checking for updates, does anyone feel the same, that's one the reason I had an iPhone I was limited to what could I do on it, was going more to the gym and what not, I know I can limit myself but is hard, anyone else wants to admit they are too? Anything that you have done to get away with it? And has it work?
I get emails and there not even important, going back 4 years ago is when started, getting the evo a few years back made it worse, I could actually watch hd youtube on it and stop using the computer less and less, where I work I'm the GM and I could check my phone whenever I want and that's bad, I mean looking at might stats I could spent up to 6 hours with my screen on, now it feel like a job to check my phone then anything else, you see xda members asking for the next update or when cyanogen is releasing his work on XDA, is crazy to admitted but truth at the same time, even think of unrooting my phone sometimes and I can't just give it up, anyways guys I just want to see how many people feel the same way, thank you for reading
Thanks for the responses xda members

Hello my name is JayVee and I am also addicted to my phone. I have not gotten rid of that just new feeling you get with a gadget. There's no slowing down with this one. I listen to music, browse the Web, watch YouTube vids, and play games on this thing all day. I even refresh my twitter feeds 1000x per day on here. I use it more than my 2 computers. The first thing I do when I wake up is say good morning to my phone to wake it up and it feels so sweet when it listens. Makes me smile. My friends now call me antisocial because I'm on my phone more than I talk to them when we hang out. Idc tho.

Funny. Not because the addiction but because after they showed it was Windows phone, people seemed to not care as much..
So my name is Joseph and I am also an addict lol. Thanks for your honesty. I started with an HD2. I didn't even know about rooting or flashing and thought Winmo 6.5 was great lol. Then my buddy Wilfred turned me to the XDA site and it's been full on every since. My wife and I have always had the same phone HD2 and now Galaxy SII. When I wasn't fooling around with mine I was trying to doctor up her phone. I can't tell you how many times I have been up all night trying to fix something I broke on her HD2. oops lol. She would get so mad because I would accidentally erase all her apps and have to start over. ( During my noob phase ) But the only thing to do is sometimes just TURN IT OFF! I can hardly do it but sometimes thats the only way. I will leave it upstairs while we hang out downstairs so she does't get mad. I just got a great deal on the SSGSII and now I wish I had've waited on the SIII. lol. Oh well. :silly:
ADDICTED! you bet, I do my HTC-Hd2, mytouch4g, SamNote i717, and this one. Checking for anything to do on any of them, lucky for me the wife is all into it with, also a manager, so I am on them all day also...it's a DRUG...hehe

Screen record / multi window / screen record rant

All missing. Really? I will donate to whoever fixes that lameness.
/Rant over
edit....sigh...typo
second screen record was supposed to be Google wallet
But....you already donated to Samsung...
All kidding aside, shoehorning this into the OS that I don't believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) has been officially released (kernel and all) yet will be an ugly endeavor.
I applaud the ROM cooks for their hard work, and agree. I've done my share of donations to the Evo3D gurus, and will continue to for the future the Note2 wizards. I really doubt we'll see these features, at least seamlessly as we'd like, prior to Samsung releasing them.
While I can honestly say I'm disappointed for the same reasons, along with the fact that inductive charging on the Sprint models has been made almost impossible. (I've recently learned you may be able to physically mod the phone)
I also must admit, over all, this is the single best smart phone I've had, the only other phone I've been this excited about was the Palm Pre when it was first released (zomg true [email protected]#)
So, /rant signed, added to, and amended with a pat on the back to Samsung for delivering an awesome phone on it's own standing even with flaws. :good:
Palm pre. I'm a die hard palm lover.
I was on treocentral and pre central most of my days.

Screen record will probably need to be a hack as some rumors are going around about a patent in the US vs. Europe.
Why Multi-App view is not working is unknown.
Google Wallet is dependent on Sprint allowing it, from what I hear.
Inductive charging has something to do with the outside case contacts with the internal battery contacts. the hardware my be causing this limitation although there is a rumor of a hardware hack for this going around as well.

Personally I like having a second phone to quickly and easily show off something cool on the new phone via video. I had a d2g that had a bad esn (I thought I could use it in Europe, but was locked out there too) and I used it a lot for that.
Also I use it when going abroad, as it will work in Europe and the states.
Also, I love using my old phones as alarm clocks. You'd be amazed how many days an old BB Curve will last with all the radios turned off. I'm guessing a Dinc2 would be good that way too.

I know GPS will work without data, but if you need to pull up directions for navigation, you need to be on WiFi to download the coordinates. After that if you don't make it re-route it will work. As for the 2nd question.....idk

really on all these ideas. I still have my Eris (though the trackball still scrolls left) as an emergency backup, mp3/Pandora player for in-house and garage (anywhere WiFi reaches), and white noise machine for sleeping baby.
Sometimes wish it didn't have that trackball issue so I could use it more efficiantly, so a fully operational DInc2 laying around would be an awesome thing to have.
What did you end up getting?
Thanks for the advice. I also like the idea of an experimental unit, now that I do not rely on the device daily, I can check out the jellybean rom and try out google now

Yea, I used up all the paper in the house. It only lasts for a short while now, but it does work for a little (usually). I even replaced the trackball with a blackberry one. I was thinking about trying just caking the area around the trackball/circuit board with JB weld to prevent flex which I think is causing the intermittent contact issue caused by the location of the charging port in relation to the trackball.
Ah well, either way it is extra and it wont be the end of the workl if I destroy it!
Yay for extras!

htc/Verizon asks that you place your inc2 on end of barrel of a 12 gauge, insert 3in slug, make it rain incredible flakes. now your inc2 has been officially updated by Verizon
Like someone else mentioned, the phone could be used as a VOIP home phone. All it requires is a Google Voice account and an app called GrooveIP (there's a free version, but the $5 full-featured version is definitely worth the money in my opinion). I also take it with me when I travel, since most airports and lots of hotels offer free WiFi, which allows me to make as many phone calls as I like without running up my minutes. I've been using my Inc2 for this purpose for awhile now, and it's very nice to have. I keep the phone in a dock and also use it for streaming music when I'm home as well as for my alarm clock. Just because the phone isn't activated on a wireless plan shouldn't mean that it can't serve a purpose.
Only other piece of advice; I would steer clear of ICS/JB based Roms if using it as a VOIP phone. I had nothing but trouble with the audio settings on GrooveIP. But the stock Rom, or any GB-based Rom should work fine. I use MROM (which is CM7 based) and it works exactly as expected.

I am not holding my breath.
I work at JCPenney's and with former apple bigwig now running the show here, its amazing how many problems I encounter daily with CR-apple devices...
I just want to pull Ron Johnson aside and tell him to invest in XDA Devs to manage competent android devices... been waiting months for any new app, and the ones we do have have are in serious need of updating(months overdue)... to think how fast devs get things accomplished for practically nothing on XDA, while apple devs under contract with JCP take months to get anything done is a travesty

I tried to make it float without writing a single letter and it won't. Maybe it's just me, but it worked as described.
Cheers.

I didn't read the OP but I'm gonna guess no.
Was I correct?

I'm assuming your phone is rooted. If so can you upload the keyboard apk? If not I'll just download a stock rom.

I wouldn't be surprised if a jailbroken iPhone could do that. And it'd be worth more in 2 years - and it'd still be getting software updates too, which I'm almost positive our Note 2s won't be getting in more than a year. >>
However, one thing the Note 2 can do that the iPhone will never be able to do is use a stylus like the s-pen. Sure, you can use a stylus, but it's like drawing with preschool crayons.
Just thought I'd be the voice of reason here lol

I don't have a note 2. I have an iPod touch and an Atrix 4G.
Apps on the iPhone can't resize. There is no framework for it. Even if it were possible the screen is too small.
Also I haven't seen any alternative keyboards.
The iPhone has a solid, simple, smart experience, however it does not have the potential of Android. An iPhone looks nicer, works seamlessly but isn't as capable as an Android phone.
