NOTES:
***I'm not responsible for anything that happens***
****this shouldn't effect the way ota updates are delivered for a custom ROM, although there is a small chance that it will*****
****this only stops the notification if it is already there then try to install it and let it fail and or force close******
method 1 ( manual)
Let's begin....
Navigate to /system/etc/security then rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak
This should break the ota updates, although I did test it I can't test it on every single ROM so please report what ROMs work
WORKING ROMS:
-stock
-HELLfire
-tranquility

Aside from removing Universal Search, it also updated the kernel, bootloader, and modem. It also updated a number of applications, system libraries, and other files. Some users have reported better wifi stability.
The full list of the files changed by the OTA is here.
I am trying to unroot(phone problems) and I am unable to find a link to stock firmware. The links on this site are broken. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have the same issue. Anyone have a mirror or the files they can upload somewhere?
Have you guys checked this thread out?

Also try installing supersu from the market. Update and update the binaries. Then uninstall the app. According to the dev by simply uninstalling it from the app manager it will cause you to lose root.

I was reading that there's an OTA update launching (currently only in Germany), and I was wondering, so i would know in the future, if I could update my rooted S4. Would the software update interfere with root? Will it take it off or what?
I'm on stock rom btw

Most likely you would loose ROOT with an OTA update.
The only way you would not loose root with an OTA update
would be if the update did not contain a kernel.
Good luck!
You can't update if you're rooted. Just wait for the devs to incorporate the update into their roms.

Did some research.
You can update if you have root, but you will lose root, just like the second post said. I use a the stock rom, I don't use any custom roms so I can't depend on your second statement.

If you try to update while rooted, the phone will say updates not available on a modded device.

^^^ what he said
Get the latest firmware from Sammobile, install it via Odin, check the "keep root" option, voilà, now you have the latest stock rooted rom on the block.

Hi,
I can't write this post into the right thread (I'm new), so i'm here.
I've installed the new version of this rom EVO3 rel2 but I've experienced two bugs:
The power menù doesn't show anymore the reboot choice
Google drive FC every time
I've made a clean install (wiped everything), moreover I've cleaned cache also after google drive installation, but the results are the same.
Thanks for reading
Hmm it may be a rom problem
Check the changelog for any info, also check peoples post to see if there is anyone else having this problem
If it does have to do with the rom, so you will have to wait for a update
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks for your fast reply!! Yes it's effectively a rom bug but sadly I can't help in anyway the developer since I can't post messages to the right place!
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
you will have to wait for a update to the rom or check if its a unique problem
some bugs can occor on spesific models of a device, i cant use Forzaferrarileo kernel V5(xcp version) becauase recovery mode doesnt work
if not you could try to message the dev,
Sent from my LT26i using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
