on ICS there was a rom called gummy which allowed you to toggle the soft keys on and off from the power menu. i really miss this feature in JB and now that the gummy rom has been discontinued was wondering if any roms have this feature. I have not been able to find one. Thank you.
paranoidandroid can...
paranoid and cyan can, and any ROM can do this with the full screen app from the LMT thread. Except for some reason it doesn't work yet on aokp jb.

Paranoid has it built in and doesn't require a reboot. It's instant.

I've been looking for this mod based off the new 4.1.1. Is there anyway you could create one with white navbar icons? Just personal preference, if not no biggie. Thanks.

Working great now. I now have my APN menu. Thanks. Really like the custom nav bar.
Thanks for your work.

Works great now! Awesome. Thanks for your work.
Works very well with Jelly Belly 4.1.1 - v3!! :good:
@thyrus nice to see ya here. You did great work on the sensation cant wait to see what you have planned.
Yeah the menu on both sides is a must. Also is there a way to make the glow blue. Blue keys and white glow just look off.

Works!! Thanks for your work
Where can I find custom navigation bar mods? What I want is an ALWAYS on nav bar, as if hardware buttons were present at the bottom of my screen. I want 4 nav icon buttons in this order form left to right: Menu, Back, Home, Search
Is this possible? So tired of having to hunt/hope for the tiny 3-vertical dot menu option squeezed over where it is not convenient to get to. I do NOT need the silly open-app switcher button that is on the right now. I did some searching but couldn't find a mod that could be allied to my current custom JB rom, only other ROMs that I'd have to flash the whole thing to get.
Thanks!

Found this thread, but none of those links provide a solution for this

After you posted this I sepnt 30 more minutes on Google and 2 hours in the Nexus Themes/Apps forums, but STILL have yet to find this. Everyone wants you to modify your SystemUI.apk or just overwrite an image file. For crying out loud..I just want a flashable zip to do in CWM Recovery that has the four options I mentioned above. I cannot believe nobody else has wanted this, it's the biggest (and only) downfall of the Nexus.

[MOD][JB4.1.1 JRO03C and CM10] Thyrus Mod Thread (Navbar/Mods/CM10 Themes)
I was looking for a mod that would do Vibrant keys (menu-home-back-recent) but couldn't find it. Turned out it's so easy to do yourself! All you need to do is decompile SystemUI.apk, edit layout/navigation_bar.xml, compile it back and adb push to /system/app
Not a rocket science, really

Oh that's all...lol. Come on. Most people do not use ADB or decompile on here. We use the GNex Toolkit by mrskip (which in turn handles ADB tasks auto-magically) or we do what little we can in a root explorer, but other than that it's beyond 90% of ppl on here (despite the name of the forum). Now, I know that there are flashable zips, I just cannot find one with the 4 buttons I like. Everything has the silly 'recent apps' button on the right that I never use. I need that to be a search button like every other phone.

I am on a CM10 based JB ROM. What AOKP ROM do you recommend. It's really odd that I cannot do this on CM10 without a degree in programming.

It hasn't been added yet to jelly bean ROMs. Flash aokp milestone 6, it does exactly what you want. Its ICS though.

Downloading JB AOKP instead from here: http://goo.im/devs/glitch/AOKP/toro
Supposedly it's the most recent AOKP. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes but I don't think aokp JB fully merge in apk those features yet, so I think you have to go back to the fully loaded milestone 6.

It does actually. JB AOKP has it all, great ROM. Glad to have finally found a daily driver.
I'm running the CM10.1 nightlies and am interested in getting nexus 4 like on screen buttons.
I have tried editing the build.prop file with the qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 but that only enables options in the settings and not the actual keys themselves. Anybody have ideas?

Flash AOKP 4.2.2 JB-1 MR1 Build 5. It got Navigation Bar (Virtual Button) Option. It is the same CM10.1 ROM further developed with more customization options & fixes. Everything is working Great in this AOKP ROM.

Edit: Just tried out AOKP thoroughly and I feel like its not as smooth as CM10.1

Hello all.
I'm new here.
I have an Xperia Arc S running Slim Bean 3.2.0.
I would like to know what would happen if I replaced my SytemUI.apk with the Galaxy SIII System UI.apk.
Please help.

Like, configure to when hold de Menu button, it will go back? Or something who can help me, cause i really would like to be able to back on apps, games and stuff.

Well if you are on Cyanogen or any other rom based on it, you can enable soft keys or just like @geniusboy93 suggested you can use pie controls. Go to themes and apps section and look for pie controls.
Good luck.
