radios? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there someplace I can get newer radios for my galaxy nexus on verizon running jelly bean? I flashed a rom and keep getting an r by the signal meter. I turned roaming to home and pulled battery and lte sim to no avail. I know i'm not roaming but it just bothers me to no end. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, i'm running mmuzzys rom.

Did you look in the stickied radio thread?

This sticky. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399802 But since there hasn't been a jb ota or leak for vzw there are no new radios anyway.
good day.

is it possible to use an older radio with the newer roms?

I am in Dallas, on T-Mobile and I have always used the European radios. Right now the latest is XXLA2.
Literally the exact same thread in general already.

Download the radio it and experiment for yourself. His results will not reflect the same results for you because you two are in different areas around the world.

Sprint signal issues

Have the signal issues been fixed?
That's a very vague question. I have no signal issues with my Toroplus on Sprint.

Remove cricket throttle?

So I have a Verizon galaxy nexus and I'm flashed to cricket. I've searched for this but none on the galaxy nexus...can someone help me remove their throttle? Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
The throttle is most likely carrier sided, You can't do anything about it yourself if it's on the carrier's side.
There is other threads of people doing it by flashing a zip but that was for the zio...he said he was at around 3 gigs over what he was suposed to get. Something in the build.prop
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
If it's anywhere, it's in build.prop. I think, well in Verizon's case, there's a folder called "throttle" or something to that effect. The method should not vary by device, possibly android version though.

New baseband 4.2 any difference?

Anyone notice a difference with new baseband? Not sure if I need to flash it or not. I'm running 4.2 just didn't change bb.

I will do so real life testing tomorrow and I will report back.

I've noticed a huge difference in signal strength. With the old baseband I used to get 2 bars around home and the office.
I switched to DVLF1 from the i9250T for 850Mhz networks and got a slight boost.
But with the 4.2 one I've got full reception at home and office. Also noticed an increase in voice quality.

Thanks guys. I haven't changed baseband since I got my nexus. With my g2x there were always problems when changing.

Baseband is only for maguro correct?
I believe so.

With the new baseband I am getting an additional two bars where I never had any. Seems to be a lot more power efficient as well.

My Gnex used to not be able to pick up any signal in the basement, now it at least keeps one bar in the worst scenario.

I flashed last night. So far it seems to be doing great. Don't know that my signal is any stronger but it didn't seem to hurt anything.

Best response ever
When a Galaxy Nexus updates OTA from 4.1.2 to 4.2, this baseband update is also included, right?
Nuno
Is the new baseband part of the 4.2 OTA we are starting to receive or is it something that has to be flashed separately ?
If not within OTA, is it not official? How are average users ment to benefit from the improvements ?
thanks
Of course it is part of the OTA. Chill out.
Signal strength on par with all recent basebands.
One huge difference: I keep getting 10 to 13 mbit/s download with XXLH1, whereas I barely got past 5mbit/s on all previous basebands.

VZW Galaxy Nexus GSM mod??

My eyes hurt and I've been searching for at least 10minutes. Lol
I want to know if there is a mod/rom/script to turn my vzw nexus into a GSM phone. I assume no...most vzw 4g phones are global phones but I'm not sure this one is.
If you could link me that would be great. Thanks in advance!!!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
probably not...i think the radios are different hardware wise. hopefully someone with better knowledge in this subject can clear it up for you
U can't because of the fact that vzw is CDMA so the radios are not the same.

My Rezound and DNA can be used on GSM...so that's not entirely accurate.

Yes because those phones where made like that. Galaxy nexus is not a world phone.

Yes it does. Just as most(if not all) Verizon 4g phones do. CDMA authentication doesn't work for LTE, so the SIM card was the authentication solution. Still no GSM radio.

Thank you guys for the clarification. I kinda new already but ya never know sometimes. Most newer 4g phones all have gsm radios in them and are able to be used on att and tmobile. I have verified this on my resound, DNA and the og razr's

Get off big red anyway. TMo is the way to go in the US....unless you have the delusion that you need LTE, which they'll have by the end of the year.
