I am in Dallas, on T-Mobile and I have always used the European radios. Right now the latest is XXLA2.
Literally the exact same thread in general already.

Download the radio it and experiment for yourself. His results will not reflect the same results for you because you two are in different areas around the world.
XXLA2, UGLC1

This depends entirely on T-Mobile's service in your area, not the SIM card.

What he said.
It's pretty much the same as your existing T-Mobile phone, if not.. better.
what he said, but.....
it also depends on which radio you have installed. Samsung has a handful of different5 radios depending o where the phone was originally marketed for. All are basic GSM 5-band capable but each one has minor tweaks for specific networks. There are several threads on here debating which radio works best. Do a search if you are interested. For mine, the XXKK6 radio it arrived with (ordered from the UK) gets comparable reception to any other phone I have used on T-Mobile. You can see the radio version under settings .. about phone .. baseband version. Changing radios is easily done if rooted and you have basic mod skills.
My service wasn't the best at first but after I flashed UGKL1 radio my data speeds on HSPA+ went from 2mbs down up to 10mbs consistently.

My Galaxy Nexus is pretty much useless right now when not on wifi. I'm not being throttled because I just started my new billing cycle so I'm wondering what baseband/radio works best for people in California.
I'm using the MoDaCo Rom Ir11 and the 3.0.8 GLaDOS v1.15 kernel.

Is there someplace I can get newer radios for my galaxy nexus on verizon running jelly bean? I flashed a rom and keep getting an r by the signal meter. I turned roaming to home and pulled battery and lte sim to no avail. I know i'm not roaming but it just bothers me to no end. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, i'm running mmuzzys rom.
Did you look in the stickied radio thread?

This sticky. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399802 But since there hasn't been a jb ota or leak for vzw there are no new radios anyway.
good day.

I see it listed, on top, but don't see an actual forum... or are we just lumped together in here...??
Thanks.
Its combined with T-Mobile and there's no difference between ours and wind or mobilicity. But don't flash any T-Mobile radios those somehow don't work well with ours

I've noticed a huge difference in signal strength. With the old baseband I used to get 2 bars around home and the office.
I switched to DVLF1 from the i9250T for 850Mhz networks and got a slight boost.
But with the 4.2 one I've got full reception at home and office. Also noticed an increase in voice quality.

Thanks guys. I haven't changed baseband since I got my nexus. With my g2x there were always problems when changing.

With the new baseband I am getting an additional two bars where I never had any. Seems to be a lot more power efficient as well.

My Gnex used to not be able to pick up any signal in the basement, now it at least keeps one bar in the worst scenario.

I flashed last night. So far it seems to be doing great. Don't know that my signal is any stronger but it didn't seem to hurt anything.

Best response ever
When a Galaxy Nexus updates OTA from 4.1.2 to 4.2, this baseband update is also included, right?
Nuno
Is the new baseband part of the 4.2 OTA we are starting to receive or is it something that has to be flashed separately ?
If not within OTA, is it not official? How are average users ment to benefit from the improvements ?
thanks
Of course it is part of the OTA. Chill out.
Signal strength on par with all recent basebands.
One huge difference: I keep getting 10 to 13 mbit/s download with XXLH1, whereas I barely got past 5mbit/s on all previous basebands.
