CyanogenMod
What is CyanogenMod?
CyanogenMod is an open source replacement firmware for smart phones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It is developed as free and open source software based on the official releases of Android by Google, with added original and third-party code.
It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by mobile device vendors. Features supported by CyanogenMod include native theming support, FLAC audio codec support, a large Access Point Name list, an OpenVPN client, revoking application permissions, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB tethering, CPU overclocking and other performance enhancements, soft buttons and other "tablet tweaks", toggles in the notification pull-down (such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS), app permissions management, as well as other interface enhancements. According to its developers, CyanogenMod does not contain spyware or bloatware. CyanogenMod is also stated to increase performance and reliability compared with official firmware releases.
Although only a subset of total CyanogenMod users elect to report their use of the firmware, as of 30 May 2013, CyanogenMod has recorded over 5.1 million active installs on a multitude of devices.

Looking forward to see Firefox OS on our precious Gio Good Luck!

Good luck macief

[ROM/MIUIV4] Galnet MIUI Scotland 2.3.20

I wanted to do this for a long time and now it has come, i have the permission of Team Galnet to post the rom on xda.
I missed this thread so much so here it is....
Welcome to Galnet MIUI Scotland
With over 10,000 registered users, over 2 million downloads since spring 2011 and a team of dedicated support staff at hand Galnet MIUI Scotland is your first place for the best MIUI experience. We keep you up to date with the latest news from MIUI central, including any important Android developments from google.
Our Fans Come First
Providing weekly downloads of your favorite Android MIUI rom. Whilst providing stable modified builds backed by the Galnet MIUI Scotland experience and stability experience. Root your phone today and join in on the fun that Galnet MIUI Scotland brings to your Android Handset.
Stable V Weekly
Stable builds are builds that we include our full array of changes in, including our own unique framework. Because it takes us time to properly develop it, the release rate of the stable build is much less frequent to the beta builds.
Download Your Rom Today
Our roms are packaged, so all you need to do is download them and copy them across to your SD Card, and if your already rooted, then it’s simply a mean of entering recovery and flashing, it couldn’t be easier!
Stable 2.3.2b Roms
Weekly 2.3.9 to 2.3.20 Roms
Support When Required
Remember we offer the best MIUI support available, with our team dedicated to helping make your MIUI experience the best possible. You can find us in our IRC Chatroom, our Forums and even on facebook and twitter.
Why Galnet MIUI over others?
Galnet MIUI Scotland is known for it’s ability to adapt quickly to the changes imposed within the android community, we have successfully been the first team to port Ice Cream Sandwich to the Galaxy S, and also the first to port MIUI V4 to the Galaxy S and Galaxy S 2. Our team has also introduced a few features within the Samsung community, with the first charge whilst off ability on any AOSP rom, and getting rid of the dreadful Android battery drain bug.
We are constantly coding and working on ways which we can improve our roms, so don’t just think about us as a translation site, but more of a development team which works within the android framework to improve it for everyone.
FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S
Galnet MIUI Scotland Change Log
You will notice that Galnet MIUI Scotland does not work on modifying the weekly roms to the same degree as that of the Stables. The reason for this is we have more time to check our modifications which we provide within our Stable builds as they are done to our timeframe not Chinas.
It is at our discretion what we include within our builds, we will accept feedback and feature requests, however please beware we might not answer or include them in our Stable Builds if they are found to cause issues. Remember MIUI is customisable to your liking, and many additional add-ons are made available weekly by fans and developers, so please check our forums, as your request may have already been made.

It's MIUI V4 as stated in the Title not Gingerbread MIUI .
WiFi problem!
In the Advanced menu lacks WiFi setting channel selection!
I can not access wireless network on channel 13?
One way is to edit build.prop - like this:
root / system / build.prop (enable read write),
change "ro.product.locale.region = GB" to "ro.product.locale.region = EU" without semi colons.
Add "13" to "ro.wifi.channels =" so it becomes "ro.wifi.channels = 13"
reboot.
binary root can not be frequently updated!
I'm on the 2.3.19 release and it works quite well, but there are two major bugs which seem common amongst Miui V4 releases on the i9000:
Phone numbers with country code included (ie: +44 in the UK) aren't recognised as the same number as stored in contacts without the country code so lots of messages and calls don't show from a known contact, as they were in GB Miui
Major issues with music player with headphones plugged in. I experienced constant reboots and hotboots when playing music with headphones plugged in, I haven't tried without headphones - who wants to listen to music from the loudspeaker? :|
I thought galnet got chucked off here?
Good to see it back, the old Galnet MIUI was cracking at it's peak.

[ROM][06-02-13][Flinny] Andromadus - CM10[133]

Andromadus - Test Builds
To start with here you will find test versions of ROMs built by me from the Andromadus github repo http://github.com/Andromadus, think of them along the same concept as nightly builds just not every night These are development ROM's, if you want to run bleeding edge development ROM's and at least know how to use adb and logcat then you might find something of interest here. If you require something that works 100% of the time all of the time then this might not be for you. That said you can always give it a try and if it doesn't work restore your previous nandroid backup!
What IS Andromadus?
Initially it was a group of people who got together to make ICS work on the HTC Desire Z because nobody else seemed to want to support devices with physical hardware keyboards/trackpads. Whilst the idea stays the same It has grown slightly to support some other hardware and some of the work we have done is now used in many other devices. Andromadus builds of CM10 or CM10.1 are basically CM sources with a few additional tweaks or additions to support our phones.
1. New versions will be added as and when I feel there are enough changes to warrant one, don’t ask when the next version is coming.
2. If we decide to release a "Stable" version of these roms they will be published in another Andromadus thread.
Direct all your queries with release versions to that thread and in the same vain do not discuss these releases anywhere but here.
3. I will do as best I can to answer questions but if you don't get an answer from me I'm sure somebody else will be along to help. Help each other and I have more time to spend fixing things!
4. Don't ask for what's changed since the previous version, have a look at the recent submits on the Andromadus github if you want to know or wait for the mini changelogs when I post a new release.
5. If there is something in particular to test it'll be mentioned!
6. As always if you didn't wipe between installations then at least verify that the problem exists on a clean install before posting here. Nandroid/superwipe/install/check at the end of the day you can always restore your nandroid if the problem is reproducible on a clean installation. If you can't be bothered to try this then I really can't be bothered to try to help you :>
7. All that said ensure you make a nandroid/backup before hand. I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone with these ROM.
8. Whilst I can't stop you I would rather these builds were not used as a base for any ROM/MOD/ETC. The source is all available if you want to do your own builds with which you can do whatever you like.
9. Tell us what works/what's worse/what's better but don't ***** when something breaks or isn't fixed yet, report it and move on.
10. Sometimes people forget that we do this for fun, for ourselves, and sometimes your super important issue is way down on our personal list of things to be fixed.
If you ignore any of the above you will in turn be ignored.
Now that's all out of the way as always have fun
As usual you need to flash the ROM then GAPPS.
Current Changelog below
Checkout http://andromadus.flinny.org for links/files/previous changelogs
This a team/community effort, I'll not list everyone who has helped along the way here that list is in the beta thread but I will say thanks to all of them again and obviously anyone that has been missed.
Latest version changelog.
CM10 build 133
There was an issue with the backup tool in the last build that will break gapps and your account's etc when flashing this build, the solution is to re-flash gapps at the same time as the rom and you should be fine. This build should fix it so that the next build will work as it should
Changes.
Synced with CM - Again not many changes upstream.
Basically everything relevant to our phones up to the 4th of February in the following has been merged

Correct and also note this comes without warranty. Flinny could post a rom that doesn't even boot. Its basically nightly build of our repos so you can use them without having to build.
So, when's the next one due? Where's the changelog? What's adb? Why would you want a lolcat? ... *snicker*
Just kidding around for a second. I'll flash, follow the updates and post if I find anything suspicious.

The OHA member list includes Qualcomm, Broadcom, HTC, Intel, Samsung, Motorola, Sprint, Texas Instruments and Japanese wireless carriers KDDI and NTT DoCoMo. Companies that are conspicuously absent from the OHA member list include Nokia, Symbian, Apple, RIM, Microsoft, Verizon and Cingular.

AOSP is a term you'll see used a lot -- here, as well as at other Android-centric sites on the Internet. I'll admit I'm guilty of using it and just expecting everyone to know what I'm talking about, and I shouldn't. To rectify that, at least a little bit, I'll try to explain what the AOSP is now so we're all on the same page.
For some of us -- the nerdly types who build software -- the full name tells us what we need to know. AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project. The AOSP was designed and written by folks who had a vision that the world needed an open-source platform that exists for developers to easily build mobile applications. It wasn't designed to beat any other platform in market share, or to fight for user freedom from tyrannical CEOs -- it exists as a delivery mechanism for mobile apps -- like Google's mobile apps, or any of the 400,000+ in the Google Play store. Luckily, Google realized that using open-source software would ensure that this operating system/mobile application content delivery system is available for all, for free. And by choosing the licensing they did, it's also attractive to device manufacturers who can use it as a base to build their own mobile OS.
The premise plays out rather nicely. Google writes and maintains a tree of all the Android source code -- the AOSP. It's made available for everyone (you, me, manufacturers you've never heard of and not just big players like Samsung or HTC) to download, modify, and take ownership of. This means the folks at CyanogenMod can add cool stuff like audio profiles. It also means folks like HTC can change multitasking in ways that many of us don't like. You can't have one without having the other. The big players then use their modified version of this source to build their own operating system. Some, like Amazon, radically changed everything without a care to use Google's official applications and keep their device in compliance with Android guidelines. Some, like HTC radically changed everything yet followed the Android Compatibility Program (ACP) so they could include Google's core application suite -- including the Google Play store. Some, like the folks at CyanogenMod, enhance the pure AOSP code with additions but don't change the overall look and feel. Again -- that's how this open-source thing works. You can't have it without allowing folks to change it as they see fit, for better or worse.
Any of us can download and build the AOSP. We can even stay compliant with the ACP and contact Google about including their applications. Yes, any of us could build our own device using the AOSP code in our garage or basement with Google's full blessing. That's the beauty of the AOSP, and we wouldn't want it any other way.

So this will be AOSP based, and not CM9 based? If so, CAN'T WAIT!
it is AOSP, not AOSP based
Or CM9 or anything
EDIT: Hope it will not end like Maclaw´s never released AOSP Project
Amazing,first AOSP for our gio.
Not second but first. We had working closed-alpha of our AOSP ROM.
great! but why not JB?

We prefer make a previous working version before making another.
That's like building ICS earlier than GB!? What the sense?
If we'll succeed to build AOSP ICS for GIO, then (maybe) we'll do the same with AOSP JB.
Cuz jellybean is very buggy and ics is much stable

Yeah I know but (Just my opinion) having an aosp gb is like having a cm without extra features, and cm7 without themes it's ugly, ics is awesome without any extra setting, because google team has done a great work , so , considering that with many build of aosp gb for msm based devices we have the bug of the first cm for gio or other (Wi-fi, gpu , radios ) , having an ics one with same bug of cm9 will be better
Too bad I dont have linux

lol cm7 is built on aosp gb
I have also a closed-bate of aosp gb, bcoz of the cm7 device files i have a working aosp build
You no share?

Would be nice

[06/12/12][ROM][REFRESHED]Unofficial ParanoidAndroid 2.55.1 for XS[CLEAN COMPILE]

THREE MUSKETEERS PRESENSTS
UNOFFICIAL PA for XPERIA S
Hey guys after being a member of XDA for many years and IMO longtime helper of others I have decided to try my hand at ROM building. Along with a great group of guys namely vertigo and benjamin.j.goodwin we started doing stuff on the Sensation Xl. We have now decided to branch out and build roms for other devices. This rom is a collaboration of us 3 working together and creating a hell of a compile machine...................... Enough now about the ROM
Features:
- this needs no mention as PA is now well renowed.
- Pure PA build complied from source 26/10/2012
- Interface tweaks are fully functional as instructed by my beta testers
- Performance settings and per app colour should work
- customise and colour nav and status bar also icons
- full hybrid mode for Phablet and Tablet UI
BUGS:
- some cm10 bugs my be present
- YOU TELL ME
- crosscheck against your list of previous bugs and share with us
Code:
[B][COLOR="Magenta"]CHANGELOG for PA 2.55.1[/COLOR][/B]
- refreshed github to add all latest fixes from previous commits that may have been missed
- released 2 version one with stock PA kernel and one with FXP
- minor bug fixes to to fresh clean compile
[B][COLOR="Blue"]CHANGELOG:[/COLOR][/B] [COLOR="Red"]PA 2.55[/COLOR]
- added kalis kernel 3.0.51 for stability and led lights
- more bugs squashed - please check your lists on previous releases
- Builds updated with new drivers so should be snappier
- Code updated to make hybrid ui even smoother
- Paranoid Updates/tweaks
Install:
- need Unlocked Boot Loader
- obviously you need UNLOCKED bootloader and CWM recovery installed
- download rom zip and gapps and copt to internal sdcard
- boot into recovery
- wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, in advanced wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions(optional)
- in mounts and storage format system
- install zip from sdcard and choose zip to install
- install gapps
- reboot
Enjoy the rom
I have not personally tested this as my Xperia S has LB but this has been tested by Felimenta97 and greatpatel007 that its almost fully functional. I implore you to hunt for bugs as I cant and report so we can do our best to fix it and make this fully functional

we will be releasing an inverted version of this rom called Dark Passion and also be giving cm10 the same dark treatement. Its kinda quiet in here but hopefully this will make a few people hold on to their XS and come along for the ride. I will also be getting an XT and we have already released Dark Passion on that forum
Exciting with new roms... can't wait until camera is working so i can try the new stuff

try it and let me know......................
the main reason for the release as beta is cause the hybrid UI is fully functional as that really the main difference between PA and CM10. camera etc are bugs shared by cm10 and will be fixed and added to github once available
so you meam that the cam doesnt work..if it doesnt i m sorry but i cannot test it..because i use the camera alot..that s why i asked you..i ve tested the other 2 roms( cm 10 and aokp) but they have alot of bugs.. and if u say that the bugs are the same like in a cm 10 then it means that the camera is buggy..sadly
also sad that we done have a good dev support..only 5 devs..
i wanted to buy an xperia t but when i see that the samsung s3 one x one s note amd other forums are full eith devs and sony forums are empty it makes me change my mind..

I've had all of those phones and believe me, there is lots of devs and lots of roms, but there is nothing different over in those that you can't get over here, and once you've flashed your phone a few times it starts to get boring, and if I'm being totally honest I've got the Xperia T now and I prefer it to One X, Galaxy S3, yes they are good phones, but they still lag, this Xperia T is a lot smoother, its like a Galaxy Nexus with an epic camera...

Has anyone tried the Cam Fix with this build, I'm guessing by the comments in the cm10 thread that its doesn't work with the latest builds of cm10, so there is a big possibility that it won't work on this, but we won't know until someone tries
on xperia t the cam works?
On Xperia T camera works perfectly on Cm10 and ParanoidAndroid and full 13mp too. Only issue I've noticed is that wifi can be a bit funny, you just have to toggle it on and off and it connects fine. AOKP camera works, but only goes to 5mp. Everything else works just fine
i ll install now this rom and tell you if the cam works or not
We've heard that the camera doesn't work, just like the CM10 rom, but I was just wondering if the fix works, if so we could incorporate it into the next build
The camera is giving an error...the stock browser looks kinda washed out(very white)... the WiFi works OK and the ROM is really fast

Thanks for your help mate. Its appreciated. Like my mate vertigo I've had many phones as well one x, Samsung s3, galaxy note etc and they is a lot happening but its all the same stuff. You see one you seen them all apart from miui and PA which offer something extra. Its quiet in here I will admit but have faith man. With sony now releasing sources and unlocking bootloader things should pick up hopefully. There some great devs on Sony scene

you see i don't own a linux ever. i use windows and my laotop is mostly always filled my own stuff. i need a decent RAM for building a machine for ROM And kernel development. so in that case i never able to succeed. IT require a certain amount of knowldge about programming which i don't know. so here everything stops. Well i tried to ask as much as developers in the past to make us a 3.0 kernel. but the issue is that our processor is way too slow and moreover it is single clock. The biggest thing that hampers the development is the non availability of GPU. After 2.3.7 google has introduced hardware acceleration. That was the last that was enough to kill our willy. Now as the code changes and and API changed with the more powerful phones. So at the end of the tunnel i also came to know that arm 6 processor does not support ART. So whati thought that someone will try to port the kitkat for our willy. But most of the devices that are getting the updates of kitkat are having GPU. I closed down my threats because of this. No one want to work on a device in which the power is way too less. so the main issue is not with kernel i saw HTC Explorer got KITKAT on 2.6 version of kernel though it is buggy but still they got it. Now hell it again has GPU. SO GPU is must for anything to happen after 2.3.7.. SASA's last attempt to built 4.2.2 is the last ray of hope for us. Because there the main developer of the arm 6 supported us for a while but then he vanishes. Well now just imagine for a wonder that somebody will post a KITKAT built. :good:
