Andromadus - Test Builds
To start with here you will find test versions of ROMs built by me from the Andromadus github repo http://github.com/Andromadus, think of them along the same concept as nightly builds just not every night These are development ROM's, if you want to run bleeding edge development ROM's and at least know how to use adb and logcat then you might find something of interest here. If you require something that works 100% of the time all of the time then this might not be for you. That said you can always give it a try and if it doesn't work restore your previous nandroid backup!
What IS Andromadus?
Initially it was a group of people who got together to make ICS work on the HTC Desire Z because nobody else seemed to want to support devices with physical hardware keyboards/trackpads. Whilst the idea stays the same It has grown slightly to support some other hardware and some of the work we have done is now used in many other devices. Andromadus builds of CM10 or CM10.1 are basically CM sources with a few additional tweaks or additions to support our phones.
1. New versions will be added as and when I feel there are enough changes to warrant one, don’t ask when the next version is coming.
2. If we decide to release a "Stable" version of these roms they will be published in another Andromadus thread.
Direct all your queries with release versions to that thread and in the same vain do not discuss these releases anywhere but here.
3. I will do as best I can to answer questions but if you don't get an answer from me I'm sure somebody else will be along to help. Help each other and I have more time to spend fixing things!
4. Don't ask for what's changed since the previous version, have a look at the recent submits on the Andromadus github if you want to know or wait for the mini changelogs when I post a new release.
5. If there is something in particular to test it'll be mentioned!
6. As always if you didn't wipe between installations then at least verify that the problem exists on a clean install before posting here. Nandroid/superwipe/install/check at the end of the day you can always restore your nandroid if the problem is reproducible on a clean installation. If you can't be bothered to try this then I really can't be bothered to try to help you :>
7. All that said ensure you make a nandroid/backup before hand. I take no responsibility for what you do to your phone with these ROM.
8. Whilst I can't stop you I would rather these builds were not used as a base for any ROM/MOD/ETC. The source is all available if you want to do your own builds with which you can do whatever you like.
9. Tell us what works/what's worse/what's better but don't ***** when something breaks or isn't fixed yet, report it and move on.
10. Sometimes people forget that we do this for fun, for ourselves, and sometimes your super important issue is way down on our personal list of things to be fixed.
If you ignore any of the above you will in turn be ignored.
Now that's all out of the way as always have fun
As usual you need to flash the ROM then GAPPS.

Latest version changelog.
CM10 build 133
There was an issue with the backup tool in the last build that will break gapps and your account's etc when flashing this build, the solution is to re-flash gapps at the same time as the rom and you should be fine. This build should fix it so that the next build will work as it should
Changes.

Basically everything relevant to our phones up to the 4th of February in the following has been merged

Correct and also note this comes without warranty. Flinny could post a rom that doesn't even boot. Its basically nightly build of our repos so you can use them without having to build.
So, when's the next one due? Where's the changelog? What's adb? Why would you want a lolcat? ... *snicker*
Just kidding around for a second. I'll flash, follow the updates and post if I find anything suspicious.

So I finally got my build machine up and running and here is the first of what I hope to be many builds to come. If you are interested in pitching in and want to help please let me know I am working on this in my free time and using it as a learning tool more than anything but hopefully more will come out of it.
http://goo.gl/q4PBc - NS4G current file name NS4GfICS_01-26-12.zip
http://goo.gl/9yDmT - NS NSfICS_01-25-12.zip
1/5/2012 - Changed Source to AOSP + Pete Alfonso's ICS.
1/25/2012 - Adding NS builds as well.
I want it to be clear that the first version of this has very minimal changes from the work Pete has already done. As versions progress I will be implementing changes from all around the android landscape and adding features from others plus custom features. Any features that I add I will try to give credit as to where it came from.
Red instead of blue.
To-Do:
Add theme options.
Finish removing ICS blue and use shades of red.
Update Notes:
V0.9 - 1/26/2012
Finished settings package color changes. Starting work on next package.
Started working through Original NS build to verify color and compatibility.
V0.8 - 1/25/2012
Contacts Changed to use new red and a few minor tweaks elsewhere.
V0.7 - 1/24/2012
A lot more of the ICS Blue has gone including most places on the launcher as well
Stock Launcher2 minor changes.
V0.6 - 1/21/2012
Started changing from ICS Blue to Red
V0.5 - 1/13/2012
Added Koush's free tether to the build
More minor color changes
Added Webkit fix from AOSP.
Fresh pull of AOSP with some minor changes.
V0.4 - 1/11/2012
Minor changes
Modified ota to change name build
Application updates (Maps and Google+)
Moved lib since it is not related to Face Lock (From Pete's changes)
180 degree hardware rotation
V0.3
Merged In new power menu and some other fixes for ICS found around github.
Wallet is working wipe Dalvik.
Started work on adding twopointtwo theme/fonts should be available within the next few builds.
V0.2
Compiled from Peter Alfonso's Repo which is a mix of AOSP and his work.
Recovery no longer replaced because of this.
Wallet has known FC issues and will be the first thing addressed in the next release.
V0.1:
Compiled using AOSP 4.0.3_r1
First build completely from source nothing added.
This post will contain the change log.
I was able to add the Market via the Gapps.zip available from CM. Please remember when posting this is ALPHA by a lot yet.
If anyone is interested in pitching in please let me know. If there is something you would like to see let me know as well. I am using this build process to learn more about the customization and my own personal Android development trainer.
Ill keep my eye out on this rom

Thanks I hope to get this up and running it may be a few days before I make any real changes as myself and a few other close friends have had it for a few days now and are working on getting the project into github to allow others in and start ramping up the work.
I'll flash as soon as its semi-stable. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Hey no disrespect but whats gonna be the different between this and the other 5+ AOSP already in this forum ? I don't mean to be rude, the reason why I ask is because all the roms in the forums are in the same stage just with a few different mods (that we can add ourselves or flash).
Nothing wrong with that question but I am working with a friend who does app development to include his app pro versions and he is also working on other parts of the existing apps. I do plan to add original content that cannot be found elsewhere. I know all are at the same stage and I was hesitant about posting but maybe someone will like the little tweaks and we can keep adding that's why I will need feedback as to what people want.

Just an FYI on the recovery part. I've been playing around with my own AOSP builds also. For the short-term, you can delete the recovery folder out of the zip and the users recovery will remain in tact.

I tried taking out the install-recovery.sh but when I ran the zip through CWM it gave me a failure. I am thinking it is because the MANIFEST.MF has the files listed and the hashes. I will try it again tonight and remove the entire folder. I have already started working on my source to remove that from being built at all which should hopefully also decrease build times since it does not have to build the recovery. Thanks for the tip.
Running a new build now. I have merged my little changes with Pete Alfonso's ICS tree and made a few changes from there. Currently the only bug I have seen is the wallet issue. It will stop running I have decided not to remove it at this time. If there is a fix it will be implemented when available. I have also modified the build version to reflect my changes. I will be editing the OP to reflect the change from pure AOSP to Pete's open source repository. I have also started skinning some of the changes and comparing oICS which has a working version of wallet to see what is causing the problems and hope to have it resolved soon. As soon as the new build is ready I will put it up and start mentioning the tweaks. This is basically just a compiled by me version of Pete's source at this time. I want to make sure he gets the credit for the hard work he has started with this build. If there are things you want to see added to the ROM please let me know. There will be some changes made to the overall colors though as the blue is not my favorite. The build should be finished and available shortly.
Add warm twopointtwo font.
I uploaded a theme port of it, has the font in there.

Un-Official Evervolv AOSP
This ROM is still in testing phase but must say it works quite nicely. Most all features are working fine. Read below for description of ROM.
As you may or not know, Evervolv has been building quality AOSP for multiple devices. Recently we (Classicnerd) have had the pleasure of working with Preludedrew in testing, working out bugs, and joining together to bring a fantastic rom to everyone using HTC, HP Touchpad, Samsung, Asus Nexus 7, and many more devices.
What to expect? Expect a solid platform which to build from. They have been known for adding Evervolv Toolbox which allows status bar tweaks, interface tweaks (volume wake, volume music control, Custom display density settings, and customizable power menu settings), as well as a stable platform which we can bring this hardware to full usage. There is also a Performance section for memory management and processor changes. The Themes section in settings is not working but should be very soon. Su works fantastic and so does the 4-1 boot to recovery work flawless.
Why Un-Official? There are many bugs to work out in an AOSP ecosystem. With that said, these bugs won't hinder your ability to enjoy this great device what so ever. Mostly when people go to an official release, it's because all hardware and software function as if it was stock with no issues and then they move on to the next build (possibly the next update). As you all know, there will always be some sort of issue. But we have a slight advantage with the Nexus 10 device. It's straight up Google. With Google in full support of the Android Open Source Platform, this gives many developers the opportunity to bring customized settings, tweaked apps, and modded framework to bring to the general public and flashaholics something we felt the direction should go.
Now we give you Evervolv Stella. I will let you all guess why the name stella came about. hehe, it was chosen by me which I feel honored to help support this project for you guys. Please understand that everyone on this team have full time jobs as well as work countless (often unappreciated, but more often appreciated) working on source code to bring ideas to life, while having a family life. If you feel the urge to donate, please do. We are saving to bring a Nexus 10 to Preludedrew. His wife cut him off from spending money on devices...lol No worries, we'll get him one.
This ROM ROM is very fast and smooth. While there may be glitches associated with jb, they are being removed and pushing it to the limits.
We now bring you Stella

i know, all the big dogs in the house. Ur rom is great tho. It held me over until we got this rolling. I know it's priority #1 to get the kernel inline due to the mods in settings to OV/UC and mess with some other settings too. Once we get it right, you'll be the first to see the changes.
I have a few things i'll show you to add some stuff if ur interested. only little things but good ones. After I get this all set up i can show you.

Hi Flinny, great job on the AOSP builds they are running perfect. I only had one satback sins build 4. Suddenly my gallery stopt working and dropbox to. Because of the gallery problem my camera won't boot either. I flashed build 5 but I had the same problem. Build 4 was flashed with a full wipe and build 5 was flashed as update that the reason of course why the problem didn't left but sometimes it helps Does this sound familiar? Greetz Munky
I tested it last evening but have many FC message about "aosp keyboard" even with the physical keyboard
I wiped all but still the same message going back to cm10.1
Ok I'm a little rusty on the details at the moment but: AOSP means that you want it to get as close as stock experience as you can get right? (I'm really looking for a G-lite thing but then with ICS/Jelly Bean, sort of Nexus feel but then for our Desire Z)
What's everyone's opinion on these AOSP builds? To me they seem more stable and faster than CM. I kinda miss CM a little though, but not the lag.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
I know that this is a dumb question and the answer is probably within the other thread, but... Ah heck, now it's just that I'm too lazy to look for the solution LOL...
But I installed AOSP 4.2 v6 last night and so far I'm not experiencing any major problems (except for FCing when I edit a picture and a bit of confusion adjusting to some new features LOL)... But when is this project going to be merged with CM? There are LOTS of creature comforts (e.g. silence during night hours, T9-style contact search, etc.) that I'm used to with the CM-optimized version that I kinda miss and only noticed that it was gone when I flashed it (I was under the impression that those features were all standard?)
Sorry to pester and thanks in advance.

This is absolutely the smoothest 4.0+ ROM I have ever used. Might switch to CM10.1 though for more features.

Here you've got CM10.1 which is based on AOSP 4.2

Flinny:
Could you add init.d support to the rom or fix it? I see that there is a placeholder for scripts and there is one script, but it's not executed on boot (with 755 permissions).

Oh jeez... Either I had a total brain fart and completely missed the link or it got posted anywhere from the time I posted it to the catching up of 14+ hours of sleep (I only slept 7 hours across 3 days LOL), but I guess CM10.1 is already posted. I'll download it and see what's up. Thanks for not flaming me guys. I would've gotten the N4 but I'm not a big fan of LG (had countless bad hardware experiences) and my phone is somewhat last on my "to upgrade list", so thanks for everybody's help and keep up the good work! There's some top quality Münchner Bier mit your name on it once I get some disposable income

That is strange. Which recovery are you using? Don't use clockworkmod as they're always full of glitches and bugs. Don't use ROM Manager to flash ROMs either as they as well have glitches. I recommend doing everything in recovery. If you do have clockworkmod I recommend flashing 4ext as it has more features and can make your phone a little faster

Ok I just went ahead and installed it. This is exactly what I need for a ROM on my Desire Z! Thanks Flinny, and keep up the good work!
Now my experience with this ROM:
- I just fly trough my home screens and menu's, it runs fluently!
- When at stock speeds (so 1Ghz) I sometime run into problems booting up the settings. I just hangs there for 4+ seconds untill it actually shows the settings. Setting clockspeeds to 1,8Ghz fixes this most of the times, but it's something you might want to look into (Or don't, it's your ROM)
- The above also happens with some apps.
I don't run swap or any other optimization, so I don't know if it's my problem or a ROM problem, but if you want me to do some more testing just tell me what I need to do
Boot Loop
Thanks for the work, this is a great ROM, just thought I would pitch my issue I had.
Im currently testing an app and set the device to use 2g only as I wanted so see how quickly it pulled in my data on a slower connection. If you leave it in 2g mode and reboot it appears to get stuck in a boot loop.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers

I doubt that has anything to do with the "2g" setting since the radio doesn't come on until after it is booted up. Maybe that application you're testing screwed something up?

The app is fine, I have been building it for a few weeks and runds fine on a nexus one, and a sapphire. I have tried flashing the 4.2.1 AOSP build and the CM10 build and exactly the same is happening.
Guess I'm just missing something :s

Do you think you could get a log of the reboot? Might help in figuring out why it is rebooting like that.

Wooo! Trying this
Can I flash directly over 4.1.2 build 129?
or would you recommend a clean wipe : ]
or check the link to the new website on the OP
I would suggest doing a wipe as Gapps etc are all different... if you do try an upgrade then I would suggest backing up... flashing rom/new gapps/wipe cache/dalvik at least.. then most likely finding it didn't work and having to wipe anyway
Nick.
Thx so much. I will try it.
Just tried installing directly over 129, rotation broke so I'm going to try from a full wipe. ( everything else is hunky dory really, although took a quite some time for the phone to calm down and get back to it's usual pace)
By the by, I notice the kill all icon from 129 is gone, is there anyway I can add that myself rather than wait for an update? ( as it's super handy!)
Thanks again flinny and Andromadus folks! My phone is even more woosh woosh and fancy than ever before.
Great job Flinny! You have done quite a lot.
just a question... what is the difference between the cm10.1 and the aosp 4.2? Is cm10.1 the beta release? or are they new test builds based off of cm and not just aosp?

ASOP is stock Android, CM10.1 is with Cyanogenmod and Andromadus tweaks. ( I.E more things to mess about with! yay)
Okay got all my apps reinstalled after a fresh wipe and this Rom is daaamn smooth.
All the default apps run without a hitch, and none of my extra apps have caused any issues either ( got 50 installed)
Just needs lock screen short cut tweaks, statusbar/notifcation tray colour/alpha picker and a kill all apps button and this would be puurrfect.
More than happy to use it as is though, runs great.

Also having some troubles connecting to wifi access points after the initial setup.

Thanks flinny~~
It's so wonderful~
But I can't find the CM's function, like "Performance",
If the CM 10.1 have some function not implement??
Some features have not yet been ported to 10.1 by the CM team yet. But performance and developer are hidden in all 4.2 builds until you do the tap build number thing
Hello all!
I wish to present to you a source built AOKP, as I saw we only had a port so far.
This isn't meant to knock the port, I just like source built things. So now people may use their preference in a ROM.
So far I haven't seen any issues, but if you find any please let me know!
I will be adding features and such to this once I get the inkling that I want them, but for now, AOKP goodness!
Credits:
AOKP Team for the epic ROM, of course.
CyanogenMod Team for their device tree, which I've modded heavily.
TheUnkn0wn for his wonderful camera, with lots of options.
TheMuppets for their always up-to-date device blobs.
Google for Android. <3
GideonX for his BMS Kernel.
And all of my users, for keeping me working hard at squashing bugs!

Always assume that dirty flashing this ROM is unsafe. You can do it, but if you get force closes or other such issues don't bother reporting it until you have done a FULL wipe. This means /system, /data, /cache and dalvik-cache, and then installed the ROM fresh. If you do report bugs on a dirty flash, I'll ignore them and tell you to do a full wipe.
Latest Changelog: March 11th, 0945 EST.
Code:
March 11th
Lockscreen Rewrite WIP incorporated from Steve Spear
Bitmap optimizations
Better thumbnail handling
Tried to fix tile update logic
Breathing SMS notification. Ees pretty.
OLD
Code:
March 8th
Lockscreen targets are removed for now, code was all busted.
MMS is fixed. The first will fail, the rest will work. WiFi is tempermental.
More optimization for our CPU.
Linaro compiled the entire ROM.
Got permission from [url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2645480]GideonX[/url] to use his [url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2134894]epic BMS kernel.[/url]
Fixed some gremlins in the system that were causing crashes en masse.
AOKP Mainline sync'd and up-to-date as of March 8th.
Reverted Camera back to default, added storage selection.
This fixes FFC crashing, but if you still want TheUnkn0wn's cam it will break FFC again.
Switched to open source Superuser by Koushik Dutta. SU options are located in System settings.
First boot PerformanceControl may crash, this is due to an init script line that
I had to place in to limit the CPU clock on first start; otherwise it will boot at 1.836 GHz.
If you wish to remove this limit, it is located in /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh
PerformanceControl is executed after init scripts, so if you set something there it will override this
(if apply on boot is selected)
February 16
Lockscreen targets are back.
Snuck in some a9 optimization
re-applied all of my previous fixes.
Updated to 4.2.2 base.
GCC 4.7 -O3 compiled (linaro soon...ish)
Fixed Roaming (i think, can't test on modded PRL.)
Kanged TeamBAKED for their keyboard.
and i'm pretty sure i got all the little gremlins causing issues.. let me know.
February 8
Re-did the entire build directory.
AOKP-Tracked kernel (Credits to BMC08GT)
Tweaked system, now with more bang.
Re-did optimizations, added more from a friend.
Hardware back to kill is moved into ROMControl again, as it should be.
Fast charge toggle fixed.
Possibly fixed charging LED (maybe, don't yell at me, but it works here.)
A2DP now works without borking headphones (kernel level, bmc08gt)
Added swipe to quicksettings.
January 26
Changed up some stuff in the system to provide stability.
Fixed hardware back to kill function.
Note: the function has moved to the very bottom of developer settings.
Performance control updated to repo version, and now it won't be in the app drawer!
It's moved to the settings.
Chronus now has options, it's in the app drawer.
I did fiddle with a couple things for the RIL, so if there's a signal boost it's entirely by chance.
January 21
Sync'd up with AOKP mainline.
added TheUnkn0wn's camera, head over to his thread [url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611]here[/url] and thank him.
Lockscreen wallpapers are back!
There's lots more, but unfortunately I don't remember them all right now.
So just flash the ROM and enjoy!
(I promise I'll keep a better changelog next time.. was a slacker this week.)
Oh yeah! I changed a few things around in the system to try and reduce
persistance of crashes.
And I think I fixed roaming.
January 15
a2dp is now working fully, as per a few testers + my own observations.
optimization done to system core, more butter.
update device specific files, should yield a slight boost in signal strength
January 11
Changing in-call volume now works.
Took a shot at fixing a2dp.
minor tweaks to the system to try and increase the butter effect.
added 3-dot menu overflow toggle under ROMControl/General UI
few other things i don't recall atm.
January 9, v2
Camera fixed.
Display flicker fixed. (CM Gerrit)
^ this commit is made in the kernel.
If you flash anything other than this kernel, or KToonsez' 1/10
you will have to fix flicker in the build.prop.

SystemUI: tint alternate icons (small menu, alt back, arrow keys)
SystemUI: more compatibility with themes
QuickSettings: fix vibrate and silence toggle not updating
Framework: NavBarColor (1/2)
RomControl: NavBarColor (2/2)
Don't wake the screen for media playback KeyEvents
Phone: Port CM Advanced Phone Settings
Makes network mode toggle work. Port from CM9.
[b]Stuff from me:[/b]
Cleaned up some of the device stuff in msm8960-common and d2-common
optimized some of the code for 4.7 toolchains (not yet used, but preparing for future.)
optimizing for linaro in the beginning stages
took a shot at fixing the camera.
took yet another shot at fixing screen flicker.
January 7
MMS Themeabilty (aokp)
Noise Suppression on phone calls (aokp)
More toggle preferences (aokp)
Setting to answer phone call with hardware home button (aokp)
Change device hostname (aokp)
Select UI Mode --kinda functional (aokp, small edits here and there by me)

Updated: Jan. 26, 1355
Holding hardware "back" key to kill app doesn't work, nor does toggle for it.
This was removed in aokp 4.2, looking into forward porting. Use soft keys for now.
Finally fixed! Eat your heart out, teh roxxorz!
"Torch Off" sticking permanently:
Change the order of the Torch toggle under ROMControl, it will display properly after that.
"Call Volume can't be changed during call":
Looking into this, no workaround yet.
fixed
"Fast Charge toggle not displaying at all":
Also looking into this, no workaround yet.
"Disable LED While Charging":
This is an AOKP feature not yet implemented in the JB-4.2 branch, I'll be keeping my eye on the Gerrit for it, but also will be looking at how to implement it before hand. Stay tuned.
"Voice Dialer stays stuck at start screen"
No fix or workaround yet, looking into it.
Workaround found. Use google now instead of voice dialer. Looking for a real fix still.
Bluetooth A2DP Crackles and cuts out:
Already working on that, will have more info either tomorrow or the day after.
fixed.
WiFi Tethering doesn't work!
Yeah, I know, it's lame. I think it still works with no security. Looking into it; promise.
These are the bugs that have been found so far, if you find anymore, please report!
Running great! Can't decide whether to keep this or go to slim bean

3G does indeed work, takes a few seconds to turn on after a boot but it works. just gotta give it time. The only bugs i can think of is 4G/LTE. I don't live in an area with it, so I can't test it. Other than that, I haven't encountered any bugs, but if you do, please tell me!

I'll be building it every other night or so, with the exception of tonight. just found some juicy new features that I want to try.
As for differences, well, really this is going to be my pet project. It's turning into AOKP with cherry picks from different places and a bit of class. AOKP and CM aren't -vastly- different, but AOKP is more customizable in my opinion, plus I just love how bloody smooth it is. I'll probably be doing a version with my picks and mods and a standard aokp version without any of my nicities, as they may be unstable.

depends really. cm and aokp aren't vastly different, but i'm using the CM kernel by default so it might have those bugs in it. the big thing here is the issues can be fixed easier with source, that's why i built this, as the AOKP port currently could inherit other devices bugs and its just a headache.
Wow, great job on this, thanks for sharing it!! I'm getting the phantom VM notification but aside from that I've had no problems at all thus far. Very nice!
