i am trying to install CM10 RC 0 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780316 Jelly bean, When i go in the recovery mode and try to install from zip it says error 7 or sometimes error 8. My phone is rooted and unblocked, could you please tell me if i have the right file for CM10 the one that i have downloaded is FXP132-cm-10-20120806-UNOFFICIAL-anzu.zip. And what will be the procedure for updating it, in some forum i read i can do this with Flashboot can anyone tell how can i use this ??
FYI for rooting i have used this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957 and by mistake downloaded the FR version, now i am downloading the correct one and reflashing it.
You should ask at the thread instead of Q&A

Did you flash fxp kernel? Status 7 usually means an assert failed, which phone model you have.

I have installed CWM Recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390771
I was getting Error 7 installation aborted when I tried to Update the DarkForestRom RC2 ROM using CWM
Re-downloaded multiple times
Read all the post in the DarkForestRom RC2 and edited the updater-script AT META-INF/com/google/android/ and repacked it using windows compresses zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20496893&postcount=63
I still get Error 7 installation aborted
Enabled and disabled assert option using in cwm but still same error
Tried to replace the built.prop in the rom with the stock one and it just aborts the installation with no error
Need help please as that Rom looks great
You can't install roms with a locked bootloader.

Sorry, my mistake. Assumed since it had a custom kernel it was needed to run.
Anyone one have any other suggestion that I can try without unlocking the bootloader
I get error 7. Can't find a way round it. If somebody was to make a nandroid backup of this freshly installed, could anybody put those files on their phone and restore it?

Hey there!
I am from germany, watched a bunch of tutorials on how to root & install custom roms.
Today i decided to download Cyanogen Mod 9.1 on my Xperia Arc S ( Lt18i) android 4.0.4
I rooted the phone, checked it with an application that tells you if its rooted or not.
I flashed the Kernel, launched CWM and started installing Cyanogen Mod. I still believe it got stuck on "Installing update..." after about 5 minutes so i pulled out the battery.
When i try to switch on my phone now, it only shows the "Sony" Logo like forever, i can not to anything. Please please help me!
Flashing the Kernel back with Flashtools, pretty much the only thing i can do doesnt work
Thank you in advance, greetings Donlu
All you have to do is find .ftf file of software you need and flash it with flashtool and everthing will be fine.Good luck!

But what is that? :S The ftf from cyanogen mod? How can i get Cyanogen mod to work now? :S
The stock .ftf file. It restores the original firmware to your phone. Then restart flashing process again. I believe it's somewhere in the general or development section
Hi, if you want to install cyanogenmod you must flash kernel which included in zip file.
Check again in zip file, than flash that. (named boot.img)
If sony logo still appear you fail flashing kernel

As the title says, the FXP kernel bricked my phone and I can't install another ftf file over it because everytime i try to do it via flashtool it gets unplugged form fastboot in flashtool while it's still in that fastboot. I think that's because I can't acces the cache anymore.
Can somebody help !! :crying:

I solved it by doing:
1. Factory reset
2. Then check if you can mount system and cache. If you cannot then wipe /data
3. Install another kernel and then install fxp kernel again (I know this sounds crazy)
4. After installing fxp kernel again install fxp rom
Then the phone should be running again
i just flash Nova Kernel v1.5 and all thing was ok today i turn on my phone and now the phone not boot he stock on the jelly bean logo from the kernel
i tried to flash the stock room with flashtool and i have an error: ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CODE="0009";ERR_DYNAMIC="Final data verification failed";

Ow i'm sorry didn't read that... But have you tried to check '' no final vertification''? Before you flash the rom you will see that option.
Hope that works !

There are files marked their default option "no
Final data verification
"And some not marked
What has marked the installation goes 100 percent all installed but when I turn on the device nothing not installed
And these are not marked the flashtool straight brings me the error "ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY =" MAJOR "; ERR_CODE =" 0009 "; ERR_DYNAMIC =" Final data verification failed "
Very strange, have a look at this thread :

This happened to me about a week ago too, but dont panic. Just switch off your phone and keep pressing volume up until the c screen shows up.. from there just recover from a previous backup or flash a new kernel / rom. Most probably you got the wrong version for your current rom.

I think thats what i did to repair the problem.
If youre not familiar just google it its pretty straightforward.. and there are lota of threads here that offer stock roms

Did you try this - Go into recovery, then go to mount&storage---> Mount USB storage. Then plug your phone in. Copy the rom that you need and flash. For your reference, stock ics zip - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005595 Don't forget to do all data wipes in CWM.
If it is not recognized, go to device manager and tell us what you see there.
After flashing the rom in CWM if it still doesn't boot, then try flashing a stock ics based kernel like Advanced Stock ICS Kernel from CWM.

Okay then what happens when you flash a kernel from CWM?
Edit:- Error while restoring /system is because you are trying to restore a stock ics or stock based ics rom from CWM while your kernel is for AOSP roms. Just flash Advanced Stock ICS Kernel for Xperia S. Then restore your backup
Hi my friend has a xperia arc, he tried to root his phone but somehow it bricked. I dont know what he did and i'm trying to recover his phone. But i cant find any solution. Pc companion didnt work. It says the phone has latest firmware. Can anyone help me please.

Perhaps use flashtool and flash the kernel of your choice and then a rom of your choice.
There are many available - just browse the developers forum.

He wanted to root, not install a custom ROM.
To OP: Either Flashtool and flash stock FTF or download Update Service and repair firmware with it.
