Is there a way to get the stock lockscreen notification for text messages with a third party app like GO SMS? I'm talking about the little circle with the number of messages that you can swipe to open and not a pop-up. Since I disabled notifications for the stock messaging app, I only get the notification bar alert for GO SMS.
Also, is there a way to make swipe to left in contacts go to GO SMS like it does with stock messaging?
First part of you question. You can use a third party launcher like nova, apex,go launcher.
2nd part I have no idea.

So with Nova, you still get that lockscreen notification even if you disable notifications for the stock messaging app and use a 3rd party one instead?

No but you can mask a short cut to messages.

Yea but I wish that shortcut would go directly to the new message and not just the inbox.

I haven't seen anyone ask this before, so I figured it was worth a shot.
On the TouchWiz Lockscreen, when you have a new text, you can pull it down to see the message. Now, I want to know if it's possible to, instead of having it go to the stock messaging app, having it go to Handcent... is there any way to do this?
Thanks,
Hasseo

I think you are talking about the pull down menu at the top that shows notifications - if so then you should only have to turn off notifications for the stock app and you will only get the handcent ones
the lock screen, I only get the handcent notifications - its not something that can be "pulled down" but you can set it to have the popup show and thats sorta the same - but its been so long since I used the stock messaging app the new design sucks and I stopped months ago when 2.2 came out the DK28 version and the messaging app was changed - I went to handcent and never went back - I dont know whats the matter with people but there is no reason why we shouldnt be able to change the stock messaging app back to the way it was before
if you are talking about the icon at the bottom of the screen - you can just change it with the handcent app
this is one of the major features in 2.2 IMO for these phones - the ability to change the bottom icons

He's talking about the Lockscreen. Like, when you get a new text, you can slide the unlock circle down to go straight to the new text, or up to just unlock. As far as I know, you can only do that with the stock messaging app, as it only appears if you have notifications enabled for it. It also is the same for missed calls.

This is exactly what I meant xD.
And gah ok. This is the one thing that frustrates me about the TouchWiz lockscreen!
Ya, wish there were better third party locks for free.

I have an n7100 that is rooted. I'm wondering how I can set up custom vibrate notifications for specific apps. In particular, I would like SMS notifications to have a custom pattern and I can't see how to do that in the settings. It only allows me to turn vibrate on or off. Is there a simple way to do this? Perhaps with a third party app? Thanks!
Go to settings>sound>device vibration. At bottom of pop up is a choice to create your own vibrate pattern. Save it and I'm pretty sure you can apply to any app you want

There is no option in messaging app to choose custom vibrate... any app that doesnt allow for custom vibrate patter will default to whatever is checked there... how do i create custom vibrate in apps that dont allow it? i.e messaging?

You'd have to use a 3rd party messaging app like Handcent or Go SMS. They also allow you to set custom notifications for each contact as well.

Ok - but this will only allow custom vibration for different contacts... if i wanted to have one vibrate pattern for google talk, another for sms and another for facebook notifications, how could i set that up?

Nova, Apex, and ADW allows you to have more grids on the screen which in turn allows you to have more widgets and shortcuts on the screen. It also allows you to use gestures to do certain things. For example, on my homescreen, I have the notification bar disabled, but by swiping down on the screen, I can pull it up. Swipe up, app drawer. Double tap launches google now. And all those things are customizable.
Another thing that Nova lets you do is add a shortcut to your app that does 2 things. So for instance, I have an icon for Chrome on my home screen. When I tap it, it launches Chrome, but when I slide it up, it launches the stock browser instead. Same thing for my SMS app. I tap it, it launches messaging, but slide it, it launches Google Talk. Not only that, but these launchers allow you to customize the app icons that are shown.
If you want to see the awesome things that people use Nova/Apex/ADW, go to mycolorscreen.com. It'll blow your mind away.

Thank you. I didn't know that.

How? Unread count app?
I really hate lockscreen on MiUI. It's pretty much useless. All I had there was clock and 3 useless icons for Mi Remote, Fingerprint sensor and camera. Notifications were half-broken and never were displayed on it. I am used to my old iPhone notifications, which were very detailed and actually useful. I wish there was a method of editing the lockscreen. Like being able to add widgets to is and move stuff around. I couldn't find anything so far, is there any methods to achieve that?
Thanks!
You have to turn on the option labeled show on lockscreen in notification settings of an app

Set lockscreen to none through settings app then install klck app from playstore
Does this mean we can install third party lockscreen app in the latest firmware? I thought miui lockscreen would still run after unlocking with third party lockscreen app or it would appear after going to the homescreen.

Yes, it is possible to install third party lockscreen apps without any issue...but remember to disable system lockscreen and when installed third party lockscreen go to settings- installed apps- Any third party lockscreen app- go to permission and set display popup ON. Done now any third-party lockscreen app will work without any trouble
