I rooted my phone today in order to install the updated lightflow. I was also playing to TB and freezing a few samsung apps
as well as AT&T apps. I just realized that my calendar widget has just disappeared! The calendar is still there and usable.
Only the widget is gone and is showing up in the list. I used to use it a lot. How can I get it back? I am pretty sure that I have
not uninstalled or deleted anything. Thanks.
are you using an alternative launcher? im purdy sure most wiz apps are only availble with twlauncher. also, the first thing you should do when rooting is make a complete untouched backup in recovery
Post questions in QnA please.
I am using TW launcher. I was so stupid not to back up before rooting. I also played with freezing a few apps but then I unfroze everything.
Does the calendar widget have any .apk that I can reinstall?
Could someone please upload the .apk file for the widget?
Found the solution. Thanks.

I do not know what I did wrong to cause the problem. But the solution was simple. The app widget was called
SPlannerappwidget.apk. Got it back from a previous Titanium backup.
You can also copy it from anywhere (wherever you can get it from incase you have deleted it) using Root Explorer and paste it to /system/apps/ and fix the permissions to "rw-r-r--" for it.
Done.
Do not thank me though. Thank miztaken1312.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=940460
If you search for SPlannerAppWidget.apk you'll see 2 or 3 places to download from.
I ended up using Root Browser lite to move the file and change permissions, since the app is free.

Man I would love a deblurred version cuz the lack of internal memory on this phone is driving me crazy!!
Any update??
sorry, just had a baby boy so a little distracted from posting. here it is just replace original build.prop with this one, then do a factory reset and you will have a deblur version.
Hmm think i'll try this out for a while til my upgrade. Do i unzip it...replace it where? in the system folder? and then just factory reset??
Unzip the downloaded file (will contain build.prop)
Get a file explorer (like es file explorer) and go to setting and select the root explorer
Explore into "system" folder, and create a backup of the existing build.prop file (to your memory card)
Replace it with the unzipped build.pop download.
Factory restore and you're done! If you don't like, just copy the backup build.prop file and overwrite, factory reset and you're back Blurred!
one question though...how does one transfer all blurr contacts to gmail? Tried this file on my wife's phone and could only restore gmail contacts...
Yea got it to work...deblur is much appreciated....phone is way more manageable and I can actually download apps again!
are there any differences in this file other than the addition of the line
Code:
ro.mot.deblur=true
??
Edit:
Found the answer, good work. Only issue I had was the one time init was black text on black background.

This is a pain in the ass. Go to each and every contact, unlink them then delete the blur contact so you're only left with the gmail contact. Then go to your accounts and sync gmail contacts so they are all synced to google. Turn off sync to blur if possible (sorry its been a while doing this cuz I got an atrix that allows me to choose where I want contacts saved). This should solve that.

The method posted works just fine, if you're stuck at the boot animation, reflash from the sbf and try again, it's certainly not bricked.
It didnt brick it.

Don't know about that but it might be because when I used this tweak, my device would reboot every 5 minutes or so. Flashed back to stock froyo and hasn't had a reboot since

Nope.. If I remember correctly, it disables having to log into a blur account, and disables the home launcher (causing the screen to be black). Probably a few other small things..
To avoid the black screen, you can copy an apk of another launcher (launcher pro, adw, go launcher, etc) to /system/app/
Been awhile since I did this, so I may be missing something
Is it possible for me to customize my launcher however I want and place the apk into a rom or theme and once flashed and installed my launcher would already be exactly as I always had it?
I'm not trying to back it up and restore it. What I'm really trying to do is get go launcher the way I customize and set all my widgets, apps, and short cuts into a .zip and once its flashed and the app installs it autimatically comes the way I already had it with no need to restore any kind of data.

I doubt it... that requires backing up the desktop configuration. Also... go launcher is CIQ renamed YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
No. That info is stored in the data partition, not with the app.

or you could make a backup of it in titanium and restore it every time.
EDIT: ignore this. I just read the op thoroughly

I understand what you're saying, as I do a similar thing with my roms. What I do is simply copy in the data with the launcher apk. However, widgets never restore properly. One could modify a launcher to change the defaults, but I couldn't tell you where to begin.

Ya I kind of figured it would be possible since different launchers have a different "stock" setting that they set the home screen so I wanted to see if it was possible to edit that "stock" into whatever I want. But it may be a little bit too much to do. I may think about it later, but not for now. Thanks though.

What's CIQ? Is that like an ATRAC? I think I heard about that in a museum.
Such old news. Only a few months ago but yet it seems to have faded completely.
We should go back to using those KnowCIQ banners. To prevent that kind of thing in the future. Though I don't really care.
So.... The Chinese have all my top secret data?
So, suprising no one has tried to remove it, rewrite one without it, or just blatantly expose the code. Probably could make some headlines considering how widely used GoLauncher is. I hear and see people talk about it but I've only seen references. (the again, never really researched it other than Google.... <- - - THE WORLDS LARGEST CIQ?)

What tools are there to remove bloatware?
Calks bare rom converter its in the themes and apps section

There is always JRummy's Rom Toolbox Lite !
Or if you are trying to modify a ZIP file, you could always just open it and delete anything you consider "unneeded" yourself, I found I actually learned a fair bit doing it that way.
Another option is that you can use titanium backup to "freeze" the apps.
They are effectively removed, but you can "thaw" them back to normal in the event that it messes something up.
I think you need the paid version of TB to do that though, but I like doing that before removing the apps.
I have used noth the ROM Toolbox and Titanium backup. I prefer titanium because you dont fullyt remove it, but by freezing it you take it out of the picture without having to worry about seriously deleting something you shouldnt have.
Use titanium backup free to uninstall system apks.

Anyone know of a list anywhere that shows what software/processes are installed which could be frozen safely?

There are a couple of lists floating around but I haven't seen them in some time and some of them are either very outdated or for a different model phone (a lot of apps are still the same however).
Use the search at the very top of every XDA screen to search all the XDA forums. Learning to search is half the battle, keep search queries simple at first. Most questions can be answered by using the search tools here.

+1 to using Titanium or something similar to freeze apps.
First of all, always backup your phone prior to going on a binge removing or freezing apps. Freezing is a much better alternative than deleting/removing apps because once they're gone, some of them may be very difficult to get back.

What I did was made a list from different developers rom. Like naoekrom beta 2.1 he list all the bloatware he took out his rom in his second post. Whenever I go to a different rom I grab my list... Go to root explorer app and under system/app delete those on my list...

I need some input from fellow members- I just flashed Goodness Ics Rom- and its great- anyway- I'm reorganizing my apps- and deleting those I never or hardly use- and There is Voice recorder ( green icon- black microphone in center-) has no name visible..I went into settings, manage apps, to delete, and its not there..went into uninstall app- not in list, tried submenu of lists...nowhere- I thought of going into esfile explorer, but cant find it- what file would it be under - its on sd card..which submenu/folder would it be so I can delete this parasite of an app? Thanks.. BTW it just force closes EVERY time I went to use it when I flashed this rom. I cant even remove it from titanium backup. Yellow triangle came up to force-uninstall app. I had to press power off to reboot phone- and abort the action. what is the deal ??
Using your launcher, drag the icon to the info button ( I believe this is in Apex), see if you can delete from there. If you know the app name (assuming you do since you located it with Titanium), it is probably located under system/app. You can delete from there using a file explorer like Root Explorer.

Good Morning.
Since yesterday I've noticed, that an app called "sCloudStarter" was installed automatically into user apps.
I can't uninstall it, and there is also a process running.
I can't find any information about this in the internet.
Is here someone, who knows what this app is or does?
Antivirus does also nothing find when I scan my phone.
It's annoying, when apps are installed automatically without knowledge of the user.
Do you think it's harmless or is it a bad virus app?
I did nothing change in my system before.
I also made a full wipe, and after configuring my device with the new fresh system, this sCloudstarter was installed again.
Please, hopefully someone can help me or can give me an answer about this.
it's a Samsung system app related to S-cloud. This is like Google drive. You ha ave to be root to uninstall it.

Thanks for your answer.
I'm rooted, but when I uninstall it, it is back in the next second.
It's not possible to delete it.
But I'm wondering, why it was installed automatically without any message?
That's bad from Samsung.
Do This -
I was frustrated with this annoying problem for hours before I did this - download an uninstaller that can identify an app named "Samsung Account" - followed by a long decimal number. Run it and delete Samsung Account first, then SCloudStarter, and hopefully that will work for you as it did for me.
Yeah there was a update which installs this app like a user app.

Like the other post said, you can use an app called Titanium Backup to freeze apps, and delete them. This one should be no exception. Freezing apps would be recommended first, as you can then see how the phone reacts when you disable an app. You can always delete later, but I still would recommend just freezing. Even with a 16 GB device, you won't gain that much space by deleting these apps that who knows if you may need later.
That works

If your phone is rooted, there is an app called TitaniumBackup in the Play Store. TitaniumBackup can freeze apps and the frozen app no longer runs on your phone or shows up in your app drawer. TitaniumBackup is the first app that in my opinion needs to be installed on a rooted phone. It's the best app that I've ever paid for, followed closely by Root Explorer.
It's also a good idea that before deleting an app you should ALWAYS have TitaniumBackup backup the app first. This way if your phone starts to act really weird, you can go into TB and restore the app.
It looks noxious
I had a look at the permissions for this in its App Info area,
...
* Your Personal Information
add or modify calendar events and send emails to guests without owner's knowledge, modify your contacts, read calendar events plus confidential information, read call log, read your contacts, read your Web bookmarks and history, write call log, write web bookmarks and history
...
OMG! It astually lists "send emails to guests without owner's knowledge" like that's nothing to be alarmed about! In fact, most of what is listed there is setting off alarm bells to me.

There is an app titles Titanium Backup that you can use with root. (highly recomended btw). This lets you uninstall bloatware, freeze apps (basically hides them and keeps them from running but keeps them on the phone), backup apps and data so if you have to reinstall or switch phones you can restore them without having to set them up again. Freezing also lets you stop the app which makes you provision and pay extra to tether your phone so you can activate it without paying extra.
It is a must have app imho for rooted users and I highly recomend the pro version. (you can only freeze with pro)
