Deleted com.android.calendar - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Why, because I'm not as smart as I think I am sometimes and deleted the app and the sync, and now have no functioning calendars on my S3. Completely my fault and I promise never to do it again.
Can I un- zip an ICS GApps zip and then zip up the calendar to flash, or do I need something else?
Rooted, by the way. AT& T if that helps.

unzip the gapps and copy calendar.apk to system/app with permissions rw-r--r--
or go into recovery, reflash the gapps and fix permissions...

Flashing gapps

Unrelated to the epic...I rooted my sisters phone while she was visiting over the weekend. She had to leave before I could flash CM7 on her phone so I'm doing it remotely right now. Her phone is old and has no support really so I'm asking here. When I try to boot in CWM it won't. I have figured out why but cannot fix it remotely. Is there a way to get gapps installed without going through CWM? Like download the .apk files individually and install them so she can at least log into her google account until I can fix it?

I think maybe you could download the gapps zip, extract it somewhere, and copy the apk files into the /system/app folder on the root of the phone. You'd have to use a file manager on the phone with root access, I recommend ES File Explorer, if you use this one then you have to tic a couple settings: Up to Root, Root Explorer, and Mount File System. After you copy the files into the system/app folder (ON THE PHONE, NOT ON THE SD CARD) then reboot the phone and should hypothetically be working.
Without having gapps, she will need to install amazon app store to get es file explorer, unless you want to track down the apk for it for her. As long as her browser is working she should be able to download the amazon app store without any trouble.
Thank you! Will give it a try.

Hm it keeps saying copy failed which sounds like there is no root but there is and things can be deleted. Anyone good with adb know if it can be flashed that way?

Weird. It installed googleservicesframework but nothing else. I still can't write anything to the root but I can delete. Its like I have half a rooted device. But I get an "install parse failed no certificates error" when I try anything else.

[MOD]Exchange Secuirty Removal (Stock Email Apk) JB & ICS

I've come across several posts/apks/scripts/tweaks to remove the stock email exchange security so I decided to share what I built and used. The email apk that is included in this flashable zip was not created by me (not sure who the developer is so I apologize). This is a simple and quick flashable zip file. I have tested it on my Galaxy S III running both Stock TW JB and AOKP JB (Tasks ROM).
This flash "should" work on both ICS and JB. I've tested this on JB but I've used it previously on ICS. If you have any issues using it on ICS please let me know and I'll update this thread.
Install Insturctions:
STEP 0: Make a nandroid backup or backup your pHere however you see fit.
1. Download the zip File for STOCK TW HERE or AOKP HERE
2. Flash the zip using clockwork recovery
3. WIPE CACHE PARTITION & DALVIK CACHE
4. Reboot Phone and re-setup your exchange account
The apk's in these zip files are technically the same 2 files but named differently to account for whatever rom you're using.
**As always, Flash at your own risk, I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone, but I will feel bad :crying:
SInce this flashable zip replaces your stock email app with a modified apk I'll upload all the stock apk's so you can always revert back easily. If you're not sure what your stock email apk's are just navigate to your system/app folder and find the names of your email.apk and exchange.apk.
AOKP Original Email APK's - Email.apk & Exchange2.apk
Stock TW Email APK's - SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk
Other APK Possibility - Email.apk and Exchange.apk
On a side note, I'll be starting an APK Repository shortly just as I did for the Galaxy S II. That thread helped a lot of members on XDA so I'll bring that to the GS3 users as well.
Reserved for future use...
Thanks
Hmm seems like not that many people experienced this problem. But i need to install the email and exchange apk because the costume TouchWiz Jelly Bean rom that i was trying does not contain the email apk file originally (its kinda silly for not contain it by default...) so i need to use the apk files from my old AOKP rom. When i was setting up my exchange email, that security thingy kept popping out, sooooo annoying!!!!! Then i kept looking for a solution to solve it, and here comes the zip file. Flash it immediately, and problem solved!!!!!
Really thank you for this!!!

Make a backup with titanium backup of both your email and exchange apps. After you back them up, delete them both. Flash either of the email updates, wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. You should be fine using either. Worst case scenario, you delete the email APKs you flashed and restore your original ones.

Thanks dude!
I followed the steps, everything installed correctly I assume because my email app was back after I deleted it. However, exchange still asked me to accept the security steps. Is it supposed to still ask you (and just not allow it to actually make remote changes)?

So i have 4 email files in total being the secemail & secexchange apk along with the odex files. Delete all 4 of these then flash the "stock exchange security removal.zip"?

So I have got it working. Before I had not deleted the odex files and once I did that then flashed the zip from the OP everything worked just not how our security team wanted it to

I was able to delete the 2 apks from \system\app. Where are the 2 odex files? What are they named?
BTW - I'm getting the "Unfortunately, Email has stopped" and "Unfortunately, Exchange service has stopped" messages after removing said 2 files and re-flashing this zip. I'm running Devil's Reject ROM.
New Info: I just looked it up and apparently the odex files are in /data/dalvik-cache. Unfortunately, my /data/dalvik-cache is empty. Hmmmm. I must be doing something wrong. Or perhaps these apks won't run on Devil's Reject v3. Any suggestions?

In simple terms; take out the apk from the Gapps package and either cut or copy it. Now, navigate to your ROM's system/app/ directory, and paste the gallery2.apk there. The phone should be booted up the whole time while doing the above. Now, reboot your phone. That's it!

What are the permissions to be set at? I pushed this and the stock file manager to system apps, fixed permissions via recovery, but neither work. When I use Root Explorer to check the apks they show different permissions from all the other system apps. MusicPlayer and SecNoteMyFiles show rwxrwxr-x while the other apks show rw-r-r-- I guess I need to manually change them?
EDIT - Actually what happens is they don't show in the app drawer, so I tried to install them from the system app folder, but I keep getting an error "Application not installed".

No go for me. They just don't want to work. I don't know why. I was on the stock ROM via ODIN. Everything worked. I pulled five apks from the system app folder. First I want to thank you, and say sorry for making you help me so much, as I'm now realizing it would have worked if I just used your version from the beginning. I've been trying to get the one I pulled from my stock ROM when I was running it. It seems my APK is not the right one. Yours worked the very first time. It's also bigger than mine by about a MB. Where did you pull it from? I pulled mine directly from the system/app folder.
Also since mine didn't work for this, or my File Manager APK, would it be possible for you to share that too? Or tell me where to get it? Thanks again.

Alright, i firgure out the problem and how to fix it.
Download the apk you want to install, put the apk file under data/app or system/app. You need es file explorer or root explore to do so. After that go to your twrp or cwm recovery and do fix permission.
Hope this helps!
