Has anyone got this phone (stock or otherwise) working on Straight Talk? I have activated my BYOP AT&T sim, I have 4g, speed test app shows its beating out my Verizon 3g, so that seems about right for HSPA+.
Here's the issue I can't send MMS's (It goes to Sending then to Queued for sending then many minutes later will timeout), and if I send a MMS to this phone, I get a SMS with a link to viewmymessage.com which consistently gives me a "504 Gateway Time-out - The web server is not responding" when trying to view it on the phones browser. It loads fine from any other device or pc. (Side question: Is that really how MMS is implemented on ST?). I've tried almost every APN setting I could find on Google and ST customer service was painfully unhelpful finally telling me to "Talk to Sony".
Besides the speed test and a few web pages, the 4g seems really slow and laggy, I get the feeling its having trouble resolving addresses. Google Play updates will sit for a good 45 seconds before the 0KB/xxKB comes up, and then after that it will chug along at what I imagine 1x speed is like. Acting on this DNS/resolving theory, I installed Opera and put in a proxy, I was then able to load up the viewmymessage site without problems... Any ideas?
Sorry, I can't help much but I've been using straight talk for 2 months now with no problems. Data is fine and I have been able to send and receive mms. I used the apn settings that came in the book with the SIM Card.

Attached is the apn setting I use for ST they seem to throttle their data. I recently cancelled my contract with att and with hspa + I got 10mb/s. Switched to red pocket and had the same speeds as post and prepaid att
$45/st for 2mb/s data or $55/red pocket for 10+ mb/s

As of right now my sister only makes me pay $50 for the data on her VZ family plan, grandfathered in with unlimited data (w/ good LTE coverage), so $55 is going in the wrong direction.
Anyway, my settings are exactly like yours pictured and still the same. Its either got to be ST's servers or a bad SIM. While browsing XDA I found out my Bionic can do GSM so I popped in my ST SIM and same deal, only difference was I had EDGE for data. I didn't check if that pic site worked, I'll save that for tomorrow, along with figuring out how to get my bionic back on CDMA
I just bought an xperia ion as well and had MMS working for the first day with the settings in the book.
Since that point I constantly get a "Queued for sending" and then an error when trying to send. When I am receiving messages I get "Message not downloaded"
I feel like I have search and tested for hours various MMS settings for stratightalk including the 66.209.11.33, mms2.tracfone.com, and proxy.mvno.tracfone.com all on port 80 with http://mmsc.cingular.com as the MMSC number MCC 310 and MNC 410.
If anyone with an ion could help it would be appreciated. Again it was working for one day so I am not sure what went wrong.
My phone apparently ended up being provisioned wrong, most reps told me my phone was broke and to contact Sony, but I finally got a ST rep that went through their system and found whatever error was on their side that prevented me from sending. I got the "Message not downloaded" error a few times too, but he said it was likely due to poor service, I don't know how much I believed that, but I did get most pictures to come through. I ended up returning the phone soon after so I can't attest to how it turned out long term (I felt like the data connection was very high in latency and the signal strength fluctuated too much). Hope that helps.

I just reset the APN settings to default, added a new apn with your settings and it is still queuing the messages. Really strange. I have never had a problem with the MMS settings on any of my other smartphones on straight talk. Interesting. I am not sure what to try next. Calling straighttalk customer service tends to not resolve anything. lol
Thanks for your support!

Connected to wifi and now pictures are sending again no sweat. Afraid to disconnect to see if they fail again. lol
Having issues with my Ion too. No matter what settings I use. Submitted a support ticket off their facebook page. We shall see... Never had MMS issue on any other Android with ST
Got MMS working GREAT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931586
Ok people... After searching and searching and searching some more... I now have EVERYTHING working on the Ion with Straight Talk. The current ROM I am using is MIUI, however, this should be the same clean across the board...
If I do not mention a specific setting here for the APN, then assume nothing, and leave it blank. Seriously. These settings for the most part are close to what everyone else is saying, but I was still getting a proxy conflict, causing Data/Web to drop out periodically. Until now. Now EVERYTHING works flawlessly...Data/Web/Calls/MMS, ETC.
So, here we go... We will be making 2 APN's CaSe sensiTivE.
APN 1
Name = Straight Talk
APN = att.mvno
Proxy = proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port = 80
MMS Port = 80
MCC = 310
MNC = 410
APN Type = default,supl
If you have the option for APN protocol, set it to IPv4
NOTE: Yes, there are two port listings in this APN, that is not a mistake
APN 2
Name = MMS
APN = att.mvno
MMSC = http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Port = 80
MCC = 310
MNC = 410
APN type = mms
Again...If you have the option for APN protocol, set it to IPv4
Now select the first APN as your primary, and you are good to go. (If this was done correctly, you should not be able to select the MMS APN at all)
Please remember what I said...If you do not see it listed for a setting, DO NOT change it.
If I use this ATT compatible micro sim card, does it matter if the phone is locked or unlocked ?
(will it work properly on Straight talk is it's locked)
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Straight-Talk-Post-Paid-Micro-SIM-AT-T-Bring-Your-Own-Phone-Card/21550826
Can I watch a couple of Netflix movies every day, or will they terminate my service ? ( I know this question has been asked before, but I always get different answers, even from Straight talk customer support)
Please keep in mind that my reply is based on my own experience with the company so far...
If you abuse the data, they "could" throttle you or terminate it until your next "refill" ... However, I have not had that issue. I have far exceded 3GB data this month, and no throttling of any kind. NO text or calls from them either.
My phone is rooted, but NOT Sim unlocked, nor bootloader unlcoked. And it works just fine.
You WILL lose LTE, but honestly, for what I was paying -vs- what I'm paying now... I feel it was a fair trade

So the straight talk AT&T micro sim will activate this phone regardless if it's locked or unlocked ?
Does unlocking the Ion enable lte or is it just a given that straight talk doesn't provide lte access ?

Yes, you can use the ATT microsim from StraightTalk without unlocking the phone. And StraightTalk just doesn't offer LTE...Yet... We will see what the future holds

Just got the GN (GSM Unlocked) and was mainly getting to know it on WiFi. Recently I popped in a SIM (Tmobile on the 30$/month prepaid 100 min/Unlimited Text &Web). The problem that I'm facing however is that I am stuck with only 2g speeds.
Do I have 3g/4g coverage?
Yes. I somehow got it to work for all of ten minutes while messing around in the *#*#4636*#*# menu but ended up running into a bug where I couldn't switch out of the European Band and so I had to do a Factory Reset.
So now I'm unsure as to how to get those signals back. I am on a modified APN setting for Tmobile:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: not set
Port: not set
Username: none
Password:blank
Server: blank
MMSC: (ht)tp://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC:260
Authentication Type: Not set
APN Type: not set
Any help would be much appreciated. I am running the stock ROM (considering I had to do a factory reset). I have data enabled as well as roaming. I do not have the 2g box checked. Hopefully this provides enough information if not please let me know.
It should just work without you having to mess with anything..

Worked for me automatically.
Problem Solves (no intervention needed)
So hopefully if anyone sees this post they will learn the art of patience like I did. Turns out it just takes a bit of time for Tmobile to recognize that you have actually paid them.
I went to sleep and when I woke up I received a text message from Tmobile saying, "Thanks for the 30 dollars" and I was getting H, and 3G speeds. Issues sometimes resolve themselves I guess. Thanks to everyone who replied.

Yeah if you're registering a new line or SIM, it can take up to 24hours for it to become fully active. Glad your problem fixed itself.
Recently, I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ off of the Google Play store, with the intention of using it for the Straight Talk bring your own phone program. Since popping my SIM in the phone, everything has worked perfectly, with the exception of mobile data. and I will explain further on that in a moment. I will stress that /everything/ else. MMS, Texting, calls, they all work just fine. As does wi-fi.
Before I noticed the issue, I had managed to root the phone and update it to 4.1 Jelly Bean while connected to wi-fi.
Currently I am fresh out of a factory reset, the only change has been to install the speedtest.net app and pop in the recommended straight talk APN settings.
These are the settings that show up in my APN setup after putting in /their/ settings. please note all links are spaced out for the purposes of making this post and they are in normal format in the APN settings:
Name:
Straight Talk
APN:
att.mvno

proxy.mvno.tracfone.com

MNC:
410
Authentication type:
Not set
APN type:
Not set
APN protocol:
IPv4
APN enable/disable:
APN enabled
Bearer:
Unspecified
With these settings.I am getting the speedtest.net app results of
219ms ping, 7kbps download, and 1123kpbs upload.
please notice that is not a typo. 7kpbs. 7.
Now. I have changed the APN around. I have modified the standard Cingular APN in the phone to just add the settings above. In which case I have the following:
Name:
Straight Talk
APN:
a t t . m v n o
Proxy:
p r o x y . m v n o . t r a c f o n e . c o m
OR
66.209.11.33

Authentication type:
Not set
APN type:
default,supl,mms
APN protocol:
IPv4
OR
IPv4/IPv6
APN enable/disable:
APN enabled
Bearer:
Unspecified
All these setups provide the exact same result of high ping, non-existant download, and normal upload.
I have been able to obtain a higher, albeit still incredibly low, download rate of 160kpbs and a more normal ping of 118ms on speedtest by changing to the following settings:
APN:
a t t . m v n o
Proxy:
Not set
Port:
80
OR
Not set
I have popped my SIM back into my old phone, a Sony Xperia Pro Mk16a, and I get rates of ~120ms ping, ~4600 down, and ~1100 up.
I am thoroughly confused as to what could be the problem.
I have gone *#*#4636#*#* into phone information and my phone number shows up, as does my IMEI, I am not roaming, it says GSM is in service, GPRS service is connected, and network type is HSDPA. preferred network type is WCDMA preferred.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to what my issue could be?
Try taking out the proxy line it has improved my straight talk speed significantly. Leave the MMSC as it is proxy remove the regular one then give it a shot. All other settings should reflect the APN settings provided by straight talk. Good Luck!

Perhaps my post did not make my actions clear enough. I have taken the proxy line out. It did improve my speed significantly (7kbps to 160 kbps) but it did not bring the results up to normal. I have come to the conclusion that there is either a setting within the APNs that I am missing completely, or my issue is not in the APNs at all.
from what I've seen you definitely do NOT want to set the proxy... other than that best thing would be to call them and complain about speed and you should be able to get someone to re-provision your account
Are you on a custom ROM or stock? If your Xperia can pull Mb but not your Gnex on the same SIM, something must be wrong with the phone

I am running the stock Jelly Bean update, but I (was) rooted. I had an issue where I couldn't text just a moment ago so I have flashed the factory ICS image back into the phone and relocked the bootloader. so I'm no longer rooted. complete straight out of the box. I have SMS restored, but the same data issues on the standard APN settings from Straight Talk.
UPDATE:
I've called Straight Talk, got confirmation from them that they are /not/ throttling me. Told them the various combinations of APN settings I have used with the phone and discovered that they have /no/ idea what could be wrong.
I've also called google. tech support there was very helpful, but the problem remains as the lady there thinks if my SIM is working just fine in my Xperia, which is a penta-band GSM/HSPA phone just like the Gnex, I shouldn't have any issues with the GNex...yet I do. She also doesn't think it's a hardware issue based on the fact that the HSDPA radio is working at all.
But I think I've narrowed the problem down to the way that the SIM and the Gnex are communicating, or something is up with the HSDPA radio on the phone. because the Uploads and ping are normal...so HSUPA is just fine.
For comparison. Here is a speed test off of my Galaxy Nexus, proxy line taken out of the APN settings:
Ping: 104ms Download: 157kpbs Upload: 1105kbps
And here is the speed test with my SIM in the Xperia Pro:
Ping: 162ms Download: 4629kpbs Upload: 940kpbs
Google tech support has tossed me up to their higher tech support agents and basically told me if they or Straight Talk don't find a solution to the problem within a week, to send the phone back and they'll send a replacement and tack it off as a defective HSDPA radio.
I have gotten the same results with the stock 4.0 image (flashed it back in), and with the OTA 4.1 update, rooted and unrooted. My dad suggested I try Cyanogenmod or MIUI before sending the phone back to Google. but that obviously has a stone throws chance in the grand canyon of working. As it is. I can survive without Mobile Data for a week, as both here at home and my workplace have wifi access.
I'm seeing the exact same problem with a stock GNex and Straight Talk (AT&T provisioned SIM). I didn't get as far as you with Google/Samsung support... Samsung basically told me I need to take this up with Straight Talk although I explained to them the SIM works just fine on another phone. I ordered another GNex and I'm going to see if that makes a difference. I will also try to get an AT&T SIM and see what download speeds I get with that.

I'm experiencing the same issue however is has been on two different devices, an HTC vivid and now a gnex. It worked fine in Dell device previously. The same SIM was used in all devices.
Ok, I got the new GNex in. The straight talk SIM still has the the download speed problems on it as well. I tried an AT&T SIM (official AT&T SIM from a friend's Galaxy S II) and it and managed to get 4Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up. So something is up with the combo of ST SIM and GNex. Both Straight Talk and Samsung were giving me the "something is wrong with the other guy" routine. I'm giving up and going to AT&T.
Wow, I'm reviving this from the dead as I'm in the process of dumping my VZW phones to go with ST ATT Gnex combo. Is this a widespread problem? Seems like this is the first thread I've read about it, but several people commented about having the same issue.
Here's the deal. ST SIMs have been getting throttled a lot more lately. They also don't reset after your pay cycle. You have to request that they reprovision your data on your account. You will be back to the correct speeds. I have noticed that I have been getting a very bad data connection lately that is only ST specific and not ATT. I get page cannot be displayed three times until it finally loads. Its like the data hiccups and doesnt realize its connected. My foil cap is telling me our free ride is about up and ST is going to sh#t. ATT is putting the squeeze on them and at some point we will only get around 150-200k for our "unlimited" data. I use that speed for two reasons. One, I got throttled to a paltry 150k. Two I think the reason they don't reset it is because they are trying to see how many people notice or try and fix it. If a lot don't, then they switch everyone over and reap more money because of less data use. Then offer a more expensive plan with full 3G/faux G with a true data cap. I ordered a Tmo card yesterday and plan to try the $30 5gb plan. I like to know my limits. Full disclosure is a better business practice IMHO.

Just switched to ST AT&T
I just switched from T-Mobile's $30 prepaid to Straight Talk AT&T. Went from getting 5 to 10 mb/s to 100 to 500 kb/s. I switched to get better coverage area here in Oregon, less problematic Google Voice voicemail integration, and the peace of mind of unlimited minutes. (GrooveIP is awesome but slightly inconvienient at times) But if the data is always going to be this slow I might switch back, or try another carrier/MVNO.
I have heard many AT&T MVNO users are getting crazy slow data. Did they just start more thoroughly prioritizing the AT&T users over MVNO users?
Right now I have a One X with service through AT&T. I simply cannot afford to pay the ETF right now so my two options are to get a unlocked SIM card from cell-unlocker or the such and sell the phone -or- get an SIM card and $50/mo unlimited plan through NET10 who now offers their own SIM cards for switching AT&T GSM phones over to their service. My question is this- a) if I do end up going through NET10- essentially I am just unlocking my phone and switching it to their service, correct? So I should not have to pay AT&T the ETF? (Yes I am aware it will eventually go to collections and I do intend on paying it as soon as I have the money to do so). and b) they say on their site that smart phones are supported but it's possible depending on your phone that some internet/web based apps/features may not work correctly. Anyone have any idea if this is true with the HOX and if so what possibly could break after the transfer? Thanks in advance.
I can't post links so here's the info on the SIM card from their site:
AT&T Compatible SIM Card + $50 Monthly Unlimited* Plan
Use your own compatible or unlocked GSM phone on America's best nationwide networks. Select a SIM or SIM bundle to get Unlimited Data, Talk & Text. It's that easy.
Includes Net10 Unlimited* Airtime Card (Talk, Text, Data/Web/Email, 411/30 Access Days)
Unlimited GSM service on the best nationwide networks
$50 per month - Unlimited Data, Talk & Text
No contracts, no bills, no credit checks
Use any compatible or unlocked GSM phone - including smart phones
Keep your phone number
Works with SMS, IM, social networks, email, web
They also give you instructions on changing the APN which are as follows:
Find below the values needed to update your device data settings to be able to send MMS* and connect to the Internet via your Browser:
1) CREATE A NEW APN (ACCESS POINT NAME). ENTER ONLY THE SETTINGS LISTED BELOW:
NAME: net10
APN: att.mvno
PROXY: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
PORT: 80
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: 66.209.11.33
MMS PORT: 80
2) SELECT THE APN YOU JUST CREATED.
3) DELETE THE OLD APN FROM YOUR PHONE IF POSSIBLE.
NEED HELP UPDATING YOUR PHONE'S SETTINGS?
*Updating your APN settings does not guarantee MMS (Multimedia/Picture Messaging) will work. MMS is dependent upon your phone model's limitations. If you have an iPhone and you would like to use MMS, you will need to Jailbreak** your iPhone in order to update your MMS settings.
**Search "Jailbreak iPhone" on-line for more information.
you can do essentially the same thing on straight talk for $45/month. you may want to go to howard forums and try to ask your question there. a lot of long-time prepaid users there.
also, have you explored the possibility to talking to a service rep about moving to the at&t $25month prepaid plan (250 minutes talk time, unlimited texts but you have to pay an additional $25/month for 1gb of data) because you are having problems with your current contract? i suppose you won't get much sympathy, but maybe you can work something out to avoid taking the hit on your credit rating.
good luck.
appreciate your reply- yea credit score isn't much of a concern here (unfortunately) and I did see that straight-talk contract which does appear to be virtually identical for $5 cheaper so that is a possibilty. After doing some further research I have two kind of follow up questions that hopefully someone might know the answer(s) to:
Will have have to buy a sim card from cellunlocker *First* to unlock the phone before switching it? Or I can just go straight to using NET10's sim card?
Is it possible that having the phone already unlocked/rooted/custom rom'd that this will screw it up or vice versa?
Thanks in advance
you dont need to unlock your phone when using straight talk or net10
I just activated one NET10 with ATT network and this is what they gave me for internet:
APN Name: NET10
APN: wap.tracfone
PORT: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
Delete the current APN from your phone.

Well haven´t try.
Connected to my home's WIFI, I browsed the m.net10 site and they give something totally different...
as follows:
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
And this one works great.

thanks [email protected] These are the first settings that have worked at all to get mobile web on my wifes I927.... now if I can I can get MMS to work all will be well. It won't work over WiFi either so it is probably a different problem than APN settings

Well, after looking around, it seems that MMS grabs messages only on mobile web not WiFi at all. MW pops on to download the messages. With [email protected]'s settings I am getting 4G web speed, but no MMS. Anyone have any ideas? We use Net 10 on an unlocked I927 Glide. Using a rooted stock rom.

Finally got time to monkey around with wife's phone again. I tried leaving the MMS Proxy line blank and that did the trick. Can now send/receive MMS and use Mobile Web..... SWEET.
Wanted to see if anyone has found the best APN settings for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 on Straight Talk T-Mobile. Getting MMS has been a problem for me. Thanks.

Thank You,
Ill play around with that. I have heard sometimes when you port from ATT straight talk to Tmobile Straight talk some of the features take a while to kick in so im wondering if that might have something to do with it also. Did you just use the same settings Straight talk provided?
Att and Tmobile have different APN settings. They should have provided you one with your Tmobile sim card. If not then you can easily Google it.
try this: it works for me

Thank You Very MUCH!!! It's just good to know if/when someone finds "better" settings for the APN other thank the ones that were provided by Straight Talk...
Again,
Thanks Much.
That's basically the same settings on Tmobile straight Talk that they give you. Except for apn I put in straight talk and everything works just fine for me. I hope it works for you either way.

OH i definitly tried those settings I just encountered a problem with MMS when those reccomended settings were inputed....but I think part of the problem was the fact that I had just ported my number from Straight Talk ATT to Straight Talk TMobile. I thinik the MMS features get delayed a bit during this proces.....might be good to konw or keep in mind if anyone is trying to port Straight talk ATT to Straight Talk Tmobile or vice versa..

Use these and in apn type you want default, supl, mms
Make sure there are no spaces sometimes it puts in a space automatically after the commas. The spaces prevent sending and receiving pictures

What does putting APN types default, supl, mms do? Also, Straight Talk card says to leave MMS port blank. Is it supposed to be 8080 or blank?

i wish someone would figure this out and just write a step by step guide. i have tried evry apn in the book or on the web and once i go back to m ST APN there is no signal except call, text. cant delete t mobs pan but if i highlight it i automatically get a 4g icon. ive spent 20 days with the non english speaking rep that i cant understand and still nothing. i now have a useless marble white note 2 home phone
yea i know i need to change my sig lol
Finally it works!
I know this is an old thread, but the settings suggestion from Geet dated 11-16-2012 definitely worked for me on my unlocked STAR N9500 Android phone with the Straight Talk SIM card installed!
Also, putting in the APN types as: default, supl, mms helped too. BE SURE there's no spaces, just commas separating the definers.
Thank You... Thank You! :good:
I was able to delete the T-Mobile APN by going into all field which showed info and making them blank, now when I tried to exit I was shown a message stating: "Can't leave Name Field Blank". So I just pressed the "HOME" button then did a restart and only the Straight Talk APN now shows.
Again... Thanks!

Yes, I bought the STBYOP pack for CMDA phones. No luck with instructions from the box.
Went to the website, entered cell IMEI and whatever else it asked for. Response = Your phone is not supported. #BullS!#T GN2 = Unlocked World phone.
Went back to the kit, found T-Moble sim, trimmed/cutoff the excess plastic. Easy enough with Swiss Army knife.
Replaced VZW sim with T-Mobile sim. Reboot. Waited a little for network activation and synch.
!!Had to get around my Avast Anti-Theft software. Unlock / Found the phone then Trust new sim.
!!Googled how to get rid of "Non Verizon Sim found" icon in notification area.
BAM! Up-n-running. No thanks to STBYOP customer support. Don't even think to get help from them. They will not think out-the-box to help you get right.
Big Up!!!

there is an app in the market that tells you what apn settings should be for each carrier. Also check to see if straight talk has their own app. Simple is affileated with them and it has its own app that basically installs the right apn settings for you.
Once you have reached your phone's APN (Access Point Name) settings, create a new APN with the following values.
APN Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC:http://mms-tf.net
MLSProxy:mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80

at&t, I dont get why people don't post that theyre different -_-
The above setting posted by triniman06 do work exceedingly well. Thank you very much sir! I am running an unlocked GSM phone with a T-mobile SIM card and Sraight Talk monthly plan. One thing I would like to add is that it takes time for the phone to reboot in th o the new APN settings. So, after rebooting your device, turn off wi+fi, turn on your mobile data, and give the new APN setting a good 5 minutes to work. After letting the new APN settings "sink into" my phone, my mobile data service (which is 4G) seems to run about as fast as my Wi-Fi service. ?

Update: Found out that during the firmware update/flash, my old APN was deleted and replaced with the fast.t-mobile APN and that's why it wasn't working. I reentered the old APN that I posted above and all is well again. However, I have seen some people saying that the new fast.t-mobile APN works fine for them on Straight Talk with no adjustments needed. I wonder why it only works for some and not all?
Good question! I found those settings on the net and they worked so I never bothered to mess with them. I took out the MMS proxy that you mentioned and it still works and actually seems a bit quicker to send/receive MMS. Thanks for catching that.

I am really curious about this too. I read about everyone on other MVNO's being able to use fast.t-mobile.com but with my straight talk sim the only thing that I can get data working with is the wap.tracfone apn settings. I am not in an area with LTE turned on yet though so no way to test anyway. I'd be curious if a straight talk user in an LTE enabled area already still gets LTE service with the wap.tracfone apn.
The fast.T-Mobile apn would not work for straight talk. If that was the case then you wouldn't have needed to change your apn in the first place. You need to use straight talk apn for straight talk. Just like you need T-Mobile apn for T-Mobile or at&t apn for at&t.

People were reporting that the fast.t-mobile was working with no changes needed on other MVNOs such as Simple Mobile. Just curious as to why it would work on others but not ST?
That appears to be the case I guess what we have to wait for is someone with a tmo straight talk sim in an lte area.

I believe people that said they were getting service e with the fast tmobile apn are full of ****. It doesn't make sense T-Mobile is not going to let anyone with there apn settings connect to there service. If that was the case anyone with a gsm phone e could simply change there Apn settings and use tmobiles data. My girl still uses straight talk and I put here sim card in my note 2 and no data at all with any apn execpt the service I pay for from straight talk and the straight talk apn settings.

I have been using Straight talk without any issues until the update. It cleared my APN i put it back in and all was well for a couple of days until today. I have nothing at all as far as data goes. I am running the normal ole straight talk apn. When I run T-mobile APN I get 4g data icon but nothing works. If i remove the wap from my straight talk apn i get an indicator I have data working again but it doesn't work. The moment I put the wap. back into the APN everything stops working. The weird part is how it was fine for a couple of days after the update and now today it isn't.

Exactly the same situation here and the ST APN is much much slower than the one posted in the first post of this thread. Does anyone have a resolution to this? Is it possible to undo the update?
Yeah I wouldn't even mind if my data was a little slower but today I have zero data. I had it yesterday after the update but today it just stopped working out of nowhere. If you change the APN to anything besides wap.tracfone it says it connects to 4g but obviously nothing happens. Talked to straight talk and they said it must be my phones fault and refused to do anything (typical). Hope someone can figure out how to get around this.

Whoops my bad! >_<
Well I let the phone sit overnight and it was working fine this morning with the same APN straight talk recommends.
You aren't crazy the same thing happened to me last night I think something was down I couldn't get any connectivity with straight talks apn if I switched to the tmo apn the 4g icon would come up but no data would go through after a few hours the straight talk apn started working again. I thought maybe I had finally used too much data, but reading on the straight talk forums last night it wasn't an isolated issue.

I had to ask because those settings were for "dumb phones" and I figured it would be slower. In fact, I don't even use port 8080 because in my inconclusive tests the speed tests were slower 90% of the time. Glad I was able to help in some way, lol. The LTE (fast.t-mobile.com) APN settings said I needed to sign into network.
