I have been trying to flash an AOSP or CM Rom on my i747.
I need a step by step instruction. It seems no matter what recovery I flash, I get the error 7, Installation aborted.
I need to know exactly what recovery to flash.
To be honest, I would really like to flash:

You're getting an error 7 because you may be using the wrong recovery. Download ROM manager and update the recovery through there.

I used the one here:

Specifically the flashable zip in Post #2.
How are you trying to flash the recovery in the first place? Try it with these instructions, make sure to download the recovery for your device.
I used Terminal Emulator on my phone instead of ADB.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
Ideally I would be doing it through my existing recovery or odin. How do I flash through terminal/adb?

I don't think you can flash a recovery from recovery, if that's what you're doing than that's probably you're issue. Follow the instructions on the link I provided. In summary:
- Flash rooted stock ROM through ODIN if you're not already rooted. Boot.
- Download the recovery for your device, put on phone. Rename it something easier to type, like recovery.img
- Download Terminal Emulator from the Play Store, and enter:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
- Copy whatever ROM you want to flash to the phone.
- Reboot in recovery, flash it.
- Flash Gapps
- Boot

No problem. Once I did it this way, I was able to see + select my device in ROM Manager for future recovery updates.

Yes you can, these are flashable through the current recvovery, have extSD support, and never give status 7 error...

Did you rename recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.2-maguro-gsm.img to 1.img?
And you flash it from your android-sdk/platform-tool folder where adb&fastboot are?
Have you searched on the forum?
If you did you found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428414
Did you try the solution there?
(BTW: make sure you have the right drivers installed and that your device is recognised. Be aware that drivers in Android mode might not work in ADB/Fastboot mode)

I have tried it..but also solve the problem of "too many link"
I have the same situation here.
I tried all tips at XDA topics about silimar problems and all they failed.
I don't have knowledge to say, but I think that its a hardware problem, specifically at memory, because everything I try to flash freeze the screen like the picture at first post.
nvm just saw the giant picture..

I had this same issue. I can't remember what I did though.. I'm pretty sure I deleted clockwork mod then I fixed permissions and then dl clockwork back from the play store and then it'll work.

@op,
1- did you encrypt your phone?
2- are you running windows cli as administrator?
3- try to update your bootloader to the latest
4- what drivers are you using? Use 1wayjohnny's naked drivers (find them at dev forum)

Hey i accident did a system wipe instead of doing a regular wipe and i can only boot into fastboot mode now when i try to boot normally it only stays on GOOGLE screen with the little unlock symbol but like i said i can get into fastboot mode. I tried using the Gnex toolkit 7.4 but it wont downlaod any roms because it says it cannot connect to Goo.im anyone know how i can get a rom on this thing? THank you in advanced.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Well...coincidentally goo.im is down.
But use post 3 of my guide (or your ******* toolkit if you insist) to push a rom.zip to your phone and install it.
Wiping system just wipes the rom.
So if you have a download for the same rom you were on...you can simply flash it and not wipe anything.

might be a bad zip. have you tried re-downloading the rom and flashing?
What you have to do (which the guide doesn't cover IMO)
1. After flashing the 1.54.401.5 FW, you then have to boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset to re-align the partitions
2. Then flash TWRP and once in TWRP, do a full factory reset of all partitions
3. Then use adb push to push the Sense ROM to the phone (adb push rom.zip /sdcard)
4. Flash the Sense ROM
5. Flash the 1.54.401.10 FW if the ROM is based on that build
6. Reboot
I do that if coming back from the GPe RUU conversion and it works fine

Download a ROM, check the md5sum (tons of free apps to do this) and flash. Checking the md5sum against the one on the download site enjoyed there won't be errors.

Exactly. You got a bad download. This is the reason you check md5sum. Also, next time make a nandroid backup before flashing anything, so you don't find yourself in this situation. I would recommend my ROM Project X, but I'm biased.

Was it a status 7 error? Sounds like you need to flash from a newer recovery... Download the Blasphemy 6.6 kernel (for Android 4.3) from Original Development, then flash it from your Agat's recovery. Reboot again into recovery (you'll be on a newer CWM now) and flash away.

Hi,
I rooted my phone using this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...ol-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3398993.
I am unable to install update 3.1.2. Its downloading successfully. But when i start to install the phone is rebooting and going into TWRP Recovery. Any solutions. Any downloadable update to file to flash it manually.
You can't take an OTA when rooted using the stock recovery you'll need TWRP and a ZIP file of the update
