Hi,
I recently flashed to JB and everything was working fine, I then wanted to lower the lcd density, so I downloaded lcd density modder and set it to 200 and rebooted the phone, only to have it stuck on a glowing black screen.. meaning it wasn't that the screen was off, it was on, but it was just black.. not responsive (it was plugged in as well into a wallcharger) I tried the same thing again, and while waiting for it to reboot, passed out and fell asleep. woke up in the morning to find it on that same screen, so went into recovery and rebooted the device, only to have a VERY sensitive power button.. even when im not pressing on it and am pressing above the button on the side of the phone it reacts.. it's very annoying and inconvenient..
I have a SGH t989d with Telus. I was running CM10 4.1.1 alpha1a with Darkside 6.0
I've tried recovering to before this issue and it still exists, I tried reflashing everything from scratch and it still exists, and I even tried to open up my phone and see if there was anything that was stuck there, and nothing..
any help would be greatly appreciated

So I just got my galaxy s3 friday, and I recently rooted it and I have the Jellybean747 Graystone ROM on it. I don't know if this is a ROM-specific issue, or just a device problem.. I searched the forums and Google and couldn't find anyone else with the problem.
Randomly, my phone screen will go black, and the buttons light up, but the phone works. I can lock my phone and hear sounds from it, like the water sound from the lock screen when you touch it. Even the LED is working. But the buttons won't turn off. Even when it's locked and I wait past my button-timeout time. After some time, it will go unresponsive and not make any noise, but the buttons will still be lit up. The only way for me to shut it off is to take out the battery or hold the power button.
When I restart the phone, it works fine, like nothing ever happened.
This has only happened to me twice, once after I hung up from a call and once after I locked my phone after I sent a text.

I've been having the same issue. I'm not sure if my phone is the problem or the ROM that I am using. I even switched roms and i still get the same problem. I have no idea what causes it but usually I'll be on the phone and when i try to hang up the screen stays black but the hardware keys are still lit up and i can touch the screen and it vibrates. Sometimes it just happens when i unlock my phone and check something and then lock it. I try to unlock it with my home button and power button and the screen stays black with the hardware keys lit up and i can even slide across my lockscreen since it vibrates. When i lock my screen and turn it on again it works normally. I was running paranoidkangdroid and currently i'm running pacman rom the 1/22 version with the stock kernel.
I too just started having this issue. Was running Quantum 3.56. I think it may have started happening after an update, but now after installing an older version I still have this problem. Hopefully someone can find a fix.
ok so here is the rundown
Device: HTC one on vzw
Rom: Slimbean 2.x
Gapps: Slim AIO gapps
had a weird problem with the display today if anyone has had this or know someone who has i would greatly appreciate the help. I just flashed Slimbean 2.x last night and all was good. no problems what so ever, got everything setup and was working fine. this morning around 10am i opened snapchat to view a video. i clicked on the video and as soon as it started the screen went blank and would not turn on. i tried holding the power button down for at least a minute and nothing. also tried power and volume down, power and both volume buttons, power and volume up and still nothing seems to work. when i plug it into the wall charger the red LED light does not turn on and screen does not wake. when i plug it into the computer the computer does not ever read the device and noting pops up letting me browse the files on the phone. i have no clue why this happened it has been working fine for the 3 months that i've had it. took it to verizon about an hour ago and they didn't know either but they are sending me a replacement htc one. all i really want now are my photos that i have on the phone.
does anyone have any ideas about what i could do?
thanks
I had something similar and think it was conflict related. After installing the "advanced power menu" with xposed, I had an issue when trying to use it to boot into recovery. Basically it had timed out and then went away without rebooting. The next time I tried it locked up and my screen went black. My keys would light up if I clicked on the power button (it was dark in the room so the sensor was still working), but nothing else. Nothing I did would make the screen turn on at all and holding down the power key to reboot did not work. I just planned on letting the battery die out. After about 45 minutes, the phone just rebooted and everything was back to normal. I really think it locked up due to a conflict similar to what a PC might do.
Hi guys,
I rooted my phone and flashed cm10.2 on it a while ago. It has been working fine and maybe froze twice here and there.
So, 30 minutes ago I was using my phone and put it down to go eat. I come back, and the screen won't turn on. I tried hitting the home button, and the power button. Neither worked. So I ended up pulling the battery. I plugged the battery back in, and hit the power button. The phone quickly flashed the samsung logo, and then went black. I gave it a minute and nothing happened. I pulled the battery again, and it turned on itself (vibrated as soon as i put it in), then flashed the samsung logo, and then cut right to the cm10.2 logo, and then went black again.
Any ideas? I havent been messing with bad software or anything like that.
Thanks!
I just managed to get it into download mode but it keeps turning off.
update - I managed to plug it into the computer and a red light came on in the phone. It vibrated, and then went dark again. Does this mean anything?
update 2 - I've given up and am going with the "its a faulty power button" - explained here - brickedmyphone.com/ products/ power-button-replacement/
I installed an app that allowed me to change the colours of the buttons on the phone, its called SoftKeyZ I think. After I changed the colour and restarted I started getting an error saying com.android.systemui has stopped unexpectly, but once I started getting this error, my screen became unresponsive to my touches. I pressed the button at the top of my phone which turned off my screen and now I can't get my screen back on... Tried booting into recovery, nothing happening. My phone vibrates randomly every now and then.
I need help... Have I just bricked it?
EDIT: My phone is still on, I can hear noises when I press the volume up and volume down keys
I have an HTC One M8 GSM
FIXED NOW
What happened is that i opened an app and then the phone went to sleep, when I unlocked it the screen started to glitch and appear to pressing on the screen for itself. I tried pressing the home button but it was lagging and nothing really happened so I held down the power button and reset the phone. When the phone booted back up and I had to enter my screen lock, I noticed that it wasn't corresponding with where I was pressing, also I pressed on the screen with a quick touch, it appeared that multiple touches registered all over the screen. Since I couldn't get past the screen lock, I turned off the phone, went into Recovery and factory reset the phone. Even after the factory reset, the problem persists so I can't even go through the setup wizard. The phone is completely stock by the way, is there any way to fix this? Or am I going to have to send it back?
